It all happened years ago, an urgent call sends Celestia and Luna towards a dragon city.

When they arrived, they saw that everything was destroyed. After calling the investigation team they discover that a mysterious fire started in one of the main buildings and it spread out faster than a normal fire. Some say that fire was magically started, but it was strange how it devastated everything since dragons are fire resistant. Some say it was a magical fire, an unusual spell that was banned after the alliance between ponies and dragons. This kind of spell could burn even the strongest dragon. They decided to follow the tracks of this magic but none of it was found.

After some time, they decided to check if there were any survivors but unsuccessfully, until...

Luna felt a low vital sense coming from the woods and she told them to go and check it out. What they found there was... a dragon egg abandoned in the middle of the woods. Luna used her spell to check the life on it.

"It is still alive, but it needs a hot source." she said. "We need to take it out of this cold environment."

Celestia looked at the egg and used her magic to levitate it, storing it on her saddlebag.

"There's no time to lose. We need to go back." she said while looking to Luna. "You need to investigate what happened here and send me a report next week." she said while looking towards the investigation team.

Luna agreed and opened her wings to follow her sister.

After some months, the egg they've recovered finally hatched. Thanks to their effort to bring the egg to a safe place in time, they saved that little life.

At the same time, in Canterlot Hospital, Twilight Sparkle was born.

Some years passed by, Spike who was living in the Canterlot palace, reached the year to enter the Celestia Universal School, the last three years of school. After he discovered that he wasn't a pony, Celestia told him that he was abandoned and his parents never showed up to recover him. That doesn't stop him to call her by 'Mom'.

At the same time, Twilight was organizing everything. Everything has to be perfect. She started to make her schedule with every subject she will have and everything she will be doing during this year.

After some weeks, Spike meets some dragons in his class. News about him being the 'son' of Celestia spread fast and everyone respected him, but... something wasn't right he was becoming a bully to everyone in that school even towards dragons. Some students complained about his behavior but nothing happened to him since he was like a privileged student.

Everything was perfect to Twilight, she had met new friends and her grades were too good for her and her teachers, due to this she was called by Celestia herself. She decides to make her faithful student. She will be helping Twilight whatever she needs and she would spread her knowledge with her.

The next month...

The bullying that Spike was causing was being unsupportable and Celestia decided to call him to her office due to the recent behavior reports about her 'son'.

Spike knocked and opened her office door, and sat on the chair near her desk.

"I'm here like you wished. So... what do you want?" he asked.

"I've received a report about your bad behavior." she answered. "What's happening to you?" she asked.

He looked at her and answered her. "I'm maturing."

"That doesn't explain why you're treating them like that." she said "I'm asking you to stop it."

"Don't tell me what to do. I'm not a little kid anymore." Spike said

After hearing this she stepped her hoof on her desk loud enough to make him tremble. "Look here you little... You need to change your behavior, I've parents complaining about this situation, I've teachers complaining about this situation, I've students complaining about this situation." she said. "If you don't behave, I have to punish you. And that thing of 'I'm your son' won't work that time." she continued. "Are we clear?" she asked while looking at his eyes.

He gulped and nodded.

"Great... now leave." she said.

Spike got off his chair and stepped outside of her office.

In his way to his class, he meets his friends. Spike greeted them and started to walk beside them.

"So... what she wanted?" one asked.

"It's about my behavior." Spike answered

"You know ponies don't understand dragon anatomy." the other said. "We dragons are used to tease and bully others that's in our blood."

As they continued moving forward and sharing some laughs, something hit Spike on his chest that made him fall on the floor. After that, he got up immediately and saw the pony who made him fall scratching her head due to the impact of their bodies.

"WATCH WHERE ARE YOU GOING." he yelled. "YOU LITTLE P..."

He stopped his track of words when he noticed that she had been crying for a while.

"Hey." he called. "Look, I'm sorry for yelling at you. I just..." he looked down and saw note pages spread all over the floor. "Here, let me help you." he bend over to grab some of the paper when he heard his friends talking.

"Spike. What the hell are you doing?"

He looked at him and said. "I don't know. Maybe..."

He stops his track of words when he felt something touch his arm. When he looked at it, he chuckles and said. "Here." he extended his paw and deliver her notes. She silently thanked him and stepped away from them.

As they continued their track towards the classroom one of them asked. "Why did you just help that... that... thing?"

Spike looked at him and answered. "I don't know, what made me do that. I was about to shout at her but at the moment I saw her face I kind of... feel... it wasn't necessary."

"You know, that mare is Twilight Sparkle, Celestia faithful student. She is a prodigy, that's why she earned that title." one of them said.

"Wait for a second, are you telling me that I was about to shout to Celestia faithful student?" Spike asked while trembling.

Both of them nodded.

Spike gulped and sighed 'God bless my soul. If I shouted at her what could happen to me if she would tell Celestia about that. I would be dead for sure.'

Spike and his friends stepped inside of the classroom and listen to today's lessons.

At the end of the day, Spike returned home. He had to know if this was true if her 'Mom' had a faithful student. He gently knocked her bedroom door and asked.

"May I come in? I need to ask you something."

Celestia nodded.

"I've heard that you had a faithful or personal student I don't know how to call it. Is that true?" he asked again.

Celestia nodded.

"Is she or he in your school?" he asked.

She nodded again.

"Oh god." he said.

"What's the matter?" she asked.

"Mom, look I think I've met her today." he answered. "I don't know. I met a pony that I was about to shout at her but when I looked at her and saw how hurt she was, *because she was crying*, I've stopped and tried to help her. And then my friends told me that she was your faithful student."

"Yes I know that she had come to my office and told me everything." she said.

Spike whimpered and trembled after hearing that. "Look... I didn't want to..."

"She didn't say a word about you." she said

Spike felt relieved. "Thank god."

"Well she might have said a word, but she just told me that a dragon helped her out and... now I know it was you. Am I right?" she asked.

"Yes, but I didn't do anything to her. Just don't do anything to me." he said.

"What could I do to you? Tell me." she asked.

"I don't know. Anything you ask I'll do it." he answered.

Celestia laughed at his nervous behavior and said.

"I won't do that. Besides, it wasn't you who. She told me that her 'boyfriend' dumped her and was about to strike her but she left before he had a chance to do that." she said.

"WHAT?" he asked. "What kind of pony would do that?"

"I've heard her complains about being bullied, some of her friends try to hide her stuff, destroy her stuff, try to make her life miserable. She had told me that she didn't want to stay until the end of the third year if she continued to suffer such bullying and discrimination." she said.

"Is this about her be your faithful student?" he asked

"I think it is." she answered. "I've tried to put a guard under her protection but I don't have any that will fulfill that duty, because they're busy all the time and I can't be around her every time." she said. "I knew that making her my faithful student would result in this." tears started to form on the corner of her eyes. "I will call the school council and remove her title."

Spike gasped and shouted. "NO. You can't."

"Spike you're not understanding this, she is being threat badly because of her title. I don't know what can I do." she said.

Spike stopped for a second while his mother sobs filled his ears. "I can do it." he said.

"What?" she asked "What are you talking about?"

"I can do it. I'll keep an eye on her and if something I saw could be dangerous to her I could intervene." he answered "What do you say?" he asked

"Really, are you sure about this?" she asked

He nodded.

"Thank you, thank you" she said. "I will inform every school guard that if they saw you defending her because she was bullied or provoked to not stop you." she said.

"You don't have to thank me." he said while leaving her bedroom.

Celestia reunited with the school council and inform them that Twilight Sparkle is having a 'guard', so if they saw her son defending Twilight they aren't allowed to stop him.

After some days...

Spike gradually stopped his bullying until it comes to an end but something that happens in one day made Spike change his behavior. He had heard some students saying that Twilight was a weird pony, no one liked her, her "boyfriend" had left her because she had more attention to books rather than him. This made him angry, he couldn't just stay there and let other students that like that to a pony that isn't in the room.

So he got up from his chair and reached that group of ponies.

"Do you remember me?" he asked. "I'm Spike, I've changed my way of being such a pain in the ass for some students thanks to her and if you are here to talk shit about her. It's better to be far away from me."

The group of ponies laughed and started to leave the main hall until they heard him call them. He grabbed one of them by the neck and slammed him against the wall. "Making fun of her and laughing at me is one thing, but turn your back to me while you're laughing at me is another. I think it's better for you to think twice before do that again, do I make myself clear?"

He started to shake his body and signaled his friends to help him but they're terrified by Spike recent actions. He slammed him against the wall again. "I'm waiting for an answer. Do I make myself clear?"

He nodded. Spike dropped him on the ground and laughed when he saw them running with their legs between their tails.

His class would start in five to six minutes so he decided to make his way towards the classroom.

On his way to his classroom, Spike heard a familiar voice 'Stop. Stop with that right now, please.'. Recognizing the voice he delivered his stuff to his friend and said. "Put that on my table, I'll be in the class in no time".

"Where are you going?" he asked

Spike didn't answer as he kept running towards her. When he arrived he saw two stallions and one mare with their back turned to him and again he heard Twilight voice.

"Stop, please. What I've done to you?" she asked while sobbing.

"Being the faithful student of Celestia. That's it." he answered.

"A 'nerdy' one is always the one who gets that title, it didn't surprise me why he left you." another said.

"A mare such as yourself shouldn't bring plushies to school." the mare said.

She cried when she took her plushie from her hooves. "Give it back." she begged.

"Make me." the mare said.

Twilight started to sob and cry once more.

"OWH, look at you crying again. Such a foal." she laughs.

That was what made Spike trigger.

"HEY." he shouted.

The three ponies turned themselves around and said. "Oh, it's Spike, the bully." one of them said. "What you gonna do? Scare me." he asked.

"No, I'm just warning you to leave her alone if you don't want something to happen to you. Just go away and leave her alone." he answered.

"Or what?" he asked.

Spike jumped forward grabbing both of the stallions by their necks and using his tail to grab the mare. "I'm not warning you again, leave her alone if you don't want to suffer further consequences."

As the three were trapped by him a school guard passed by them and saw that situation, he tried to check if Twilight was crying or if she was offended. Receiving a positive answered he just passed by them without saying a word.

That kind of reaction triggered one of them. "Hey, can't you see what he's doing to us?" he asked. "Make him stop."

The guard stopped his tracks and stepped towards them.

"Now, you're screwed." he said.

As the guard reached their position he said. "You're bullying her." he pointed towards Twilight. "Am I right?"

"No of course not." one of them answered.

"They're lying. They were provoking me, they started to mess with my stuff." Twilight said.

The three ponies looked at the guard.

"So... help us. Make him stop." one of them said

"For superior orders, I can't do that. I've orders to stop him if he is acting like this only if is not to defend... her" he said while pointing towards Twilight. "So if you're messing with her and he heard her calling for help and he intervene I can't do anything. Sorry but superior orders I can't disobey them."

The guard left the crowd and continued his shift.

The three ponies trembled in fear and said. "Look, Spike. I know you could be mad at us, but could you put us down. Please?"

"Why should I do that?" he asked. "You were bullying her and now you want my forgiveness. I can't do that." he said. "Twilight." he called her. "What do you think? Should I let them go?" he asked.

Twilight looked over them and said. "If they promise to not bother me again I would let them go."

Spike smiled at them and said. "So..."

The three ponies promised that they won't be bothering her anymore and ran away from there as fast as they could.

Spike bend over to grab her stuff but a magical aura stopped him. Spike looked at Twilight and said, "Look I know you could have heard that I was a jerk back then but...."

"Thank you." she said.

"Come on, there's no need to thank me. Celestia told me to do this. So... Don't thank me. Thank her" he said.

Spike noticed that her plushie had some scratches due to the recent event he grabbed it and he used his magic to remend it.

Twilight was shocked when she saw that. "You could use magic!!!"

"Shhh. Don't say that loud." he said. "I've recently discovered that I could use magic."

Twilight giggled.

"It's ok. I won't tell anyone." she said while grabbing her plushie. "Sorry I didn't catch your name."

"Oh, sorry. My name is Spike." he said. "I'm a dragon and I'm Celestia 'son'."

'Oh god. Celestia son is a dragon. And he is kind of my guard if I'm correct.' she thought.

Twilight tried to levitate her books but they're too heavy for her right now, after all that happened.

"Mind if I help you carry your stuff to your classroom?" he asked.

"No, of course not. If that's ok to you." she answered.

Spike grabbed her saddlebag and started to walk towards her classroom.

Sometime later, they've finally reached her classroom.

"Classroom nº13. Good, I will remember the number." he said

"Oh, my class has already started." she grabbed her stuff. "Thanks again, Spike." she leaned forward and kissed his cheek.

She ran towards the classroom door and waved him 'a goodbye'.

Spike brought his paw to his cheek and said 'Did she just... EWW. But it felt so good.'

Spike left that corridor and walked towards his classroom. He apologizes to be so late and his class started again but he didn't catch anything because his thoughts were in what just happened moments ago.

In Celestia's office...

The investigator team leader came with great or maybe bad news.

"Princess." he said. "I've news about what happen years ago in that city."

Celestia ordered him to have a sit.

He sits.

"I'm all ears." she said.

"That fire wasn't a natural fire as you probably know." he said.

Celestia nodded. "The investigation said that it was a magical fire that was cast by someone or somepony. I already know that."

"Yes, my Princess. But our recent investigations say that the same magical power we found on that city was found in Equestria." he said

"What does that mean?" she asked.

"It means that the same thing that killed all of those dragons is back to Equestria."
