Wonderbolts Pt.1

Previous Chapter

Spitfire's POV:

"Well lookie what we got here!" SpitFire says smugly.

SpitFire slowly walks towards the group of cocky looking trainees. In attempt to look tough and scare the cadets, she puts on a confident scowl as she continues to speak.

"Becha all think you're wonderbolt material, don't ya?" SpitFire barks.

Though a few of the cadets seemed to shift their weight, they replied with a semi-confident, "YES MA'AM!"

"Think you got what it takes to be an elite flyer?" SpitFire continued.

"YES MA'AM!" The cadets repeated.

"Well then, let me be the first to tell you..."

SpitFire paused and almost smiled to get the cadets comforatable. Then she could yell again and throw them off. She can keep them on their hooves, keep them a scared of what she would do to them if they did something wrong.

"YOU DON'T!" SpitFire barked, getting right in a yellow mares face.

"If you had what it took to be an elite flyer, you'd already be a Wonderbolt!"

Looking around, she was doing alright so far. Ponies she would pass by would give her a nervous look, scared that SpitFire might single them out. As she continued, she decides to do just that to a few of the ponies. First, she approches a light purple pony with frost hair. Feeling she was a good test subject, SpitFire yells, "Still think you're something special?!"

Getting the reaction she wanted, SpitFire mentally patted herself on that back as the pony, legs shaking, swollows and almost in a wisper relplies, "No ma'am."

With that success, SpitFire move onto the next pony. This one is big, white , and very mucley. Trying to find a good way to get under this guys skin, SpitFire takes a good look at the stallion, which makes him flinch. He's big, but she couldn't say the same for his wings though. They couldn't be much bigger than a colts. As SpitFire gets an idea, she flies up to be at eye level with him and says, "Ya think you're hot stuff."

As the cadet shrunk down, SpitFire felt another success. Even the tough guys are scared of her. Questioning a stallions masculinity is always the easiest way to mess with 'em. As she was moving onto the next trainee, she realized she recognized this one. She was RainbowDash, the pegasus that had single handedly saved her, two other wonderbolts, and this crazy unicorn that almost killed the wonderbolts team while doing a Sonic Rainboom. No one else in equestria but RainbiwDash had ever done that move. Plus, she also saved equestria a couple times. SpitFire also kinda had a little crush on Dash since she had first met her, but never really had the guts to tell her. She didn't really know how, or want to mess with RainbiwDash, but it was important not to show favoritism to any cadets, no matter the circumstances. After thinking, SpitFire remembered that Dash had a pretty big head. She could probably try to mess with her confidence, just to see how she would react. She went up to Dash, having the perfect idea.

"You look like your the worst flyer in the whole academy. You'd probably quit after the first day." SpitFire said in a cocky tone.

SpitFire knew Dash was an amazing flyer, but she wanted to know if Dash could keep a level head after being called out by her own hero.

"NO MA'AM, I'D NEVER QUIT, MA'AM!" RainbowDash replies confidently.

Finding her confidence cute, SpitFire walks off with a smirk and a small chuckle. SpitFire had always loved it when RainbowDash acted tough, but did like the respect. Going on to the next pony, she shook out of her thoughts and tried to come up with another line to scare her next victim.

"What about you?" SpitFire says to a lightning color maned pony, putting and extra, 'You're a noob.' Sort of tone into it. "I bet you couldn't fly past the first flagpole without getting winded."

"Try me, ma'am." The light turquoise mare replied with a cocky smirk.

Taken aback by her response, her reaction looked a little more suprised than she had wanted it to be. She thought most of the cadets had feared her by now.

"What was that?"SpitFire said in a low growl.

"Let me show you what I got, ma'am." The mare says, her tone still a little too cocky for SpitFire's liking.

"Oh, you want a chance to prove yourself, huh." Spitfire's said, her tone expressing her dominance.

"Yes ma'am." The cadet replied confidently.

Spitfire rolled her eyes.
"Well then, now's your chance.
'Gimme 500 laps, all of you!"

All of the cadets groaned in unison, not wanting to follow her painful command.

"NOW!!!" Spitfire screamed and blew her whistle, watching the cadets shoot of into the sky.

As she saw a rainbow streak fly through the sky, she knew one thing, and one thing only.

She wanted that mare.

Spitfire's POV:

As Spitfire watched the cadets, she let out a sigh. So far, most of the newbies were not what she would call Wonderbolt material. With the emphasis on most, there were a few ponies that had caught her eye. And by a few, she means two.

She had to admit, their abilities certainly matched their confidence. Especially a certain cocky rainbow maned feather brain that was currently soaring through the sky with perfect precision. She would never tell them that they really were Wonderbolt material, though.
Where's the fun in that?

Her thoughts were suddenly shaken by the passing of a rainbow and lightning trail. She felt the wind drift by seconds after the flyers blasted past her and the other coaches.

Figuring the flyers had worked hard enough, she blew her whistle loud enough to be heard in Las Pegasus.

She took in a breath before shouting. "LAST LAP FLIERS! LET'S MAKE THIS ONE COUNT!"

As she observed Lightning Dust wink to exchange a message to Rainbow, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of jelousy. She knew she loved Rainbow Dash, and she knew that any exchange that her Dashie had with another pony was already enough to get on Spitfire's nerves. You can call it possessive, but the yellow pegusus says it is her way of showing love.

Once again interrupting her thoughts, the stars of the academy boomed in the sky as they initiated what seemed to be a race. All of the other cadets could only stare in awe, as they already knew they would never come near the speed of these ponies.

There streaks bring there only evidence of their journey through the sky, the mares flowed with the power of the wind at their disposal. As the race drew to an end, they spread their wings to slow their fall as they skitted to a stop on the smooth asphalt of the runway.

When there senses returned, they turned to each other and hoof bumped.

Spitfire took this time of distraction to gape at the pair in awe. She was honestly shocked.

Firstly, it has been a while since a duo like this had shown up at the academy. It was rare to find pegasi like them, but they are certainly gifted. She sees much potential in them, if they aren't too stubborn to take anyone's advice.

Secondly, Rainbow flying up there like she owned the sky was definitely hot as hel-

Spitfire scolded herself mentally. 'NO! There's no time to drool over her now. Say something before they catch the staring'.

The captain coughed to get her cadets attention before speaking. "Not bad." She put her shades on over her eyes. "For a couple of newbies."

Spitfire gave a small smirk to the duo before slowly walking back towards her office. While the yellow pegusus had some team pairing to do, she would likely spend most of that time thinking about how she was going to get Rainbow Dash to like her back.

Rainbow Dash's POV:

Rainbow Dash sat on the edge of her been with a sigh. After another long day of training, she finally got some time to relax in her dorm. It would give her some time to think

Rainbow certainly did not have a small crush on her captain. She had liked her since the begining. She probably fell in love the first time she got to meet the flame headed mare for real.

The issue was that the cyan mare had no clue about whether or not Spitfire liked her back. She also didn't know who to turn to when it came to figuring it out.

"Hey, Dash." A voice from none other than Lightning Dust sounded from outside of her door, cutting through her thoughts like a knife. "Can I come in?"

As soon as Rainbow opened the door, the green pegasus eyed her suspiciously. "Watcha' thinking about? You have a dorky smile on your face."

Rainbow simply gave a sheepish smile as she tried to shake herself from her captain's fiery haze. Lightning Dust seemed to have invited herself in, so Dash shut the door and walked back over to her bed.

"Well, whatever it, I'm sure I can help." The yellow maned pony declared before plopping onto an empty chair.

Rainbow looked hesitant before letting out a sigh. "If I tell you, can you promise to keep a secret?"

"As if I'd break a promise to a friend." Lightning Dust snorted.

The cyan mare took in a breath. "I... I think I have a crush on Spitfire." She said in a near whisper.

Lightning Dust's eyes widened at first in shock, and secondly in realization. "But you don't know if she likes you back?"

Rainbow Dash nodded her head in defeat with a whimper. Suddenly, Lightning Dust's face turned mischievous.

"If she does like you, I think I have a way to help you find out."
