He had always been more comfortable around his marefriends, but when meeting them for the first time, he tended to act awkward and shy. Why had he bothered to tell them about his name now? It was just a writing mistake, and how likely was it that they would have to write his name anytime soon? He felt the need to facehoof, but resisted it, in fear of making him look even more stupid than he already felt. Although, he did wonder about that one lavender unicorn. Her need to reassure him they wouldn't be long was a little unneeded, and he wondered why she did, but all the same, he kinda liked it. After coming to a small realization, however, he facehoofed so hard it felt like it left a bump on his forehead. How could he have been that casual? He just met three out of the six Elements of Harmony and he just accepted them to come along for the ride of his coming into Ponyville! He had heard stories back in Manehattan; Tales of the Elements of Harmony defeating Nightmare Moon and restoring her to her past self, Princess Luna. Discord's short reign of terror gave him a scare since it happened all over Equestria but thankfully, the Elements of Harmony saved the day yet again. He had to thank them sometime, even though they probably got enough of it already and his didn't make much of a difference. That could wait for another time though, if he ever got the chance to talk to them after. His nervousness level rose more and more. ‘Ugh, why am I so stupid? Ponyville holds the bearers of the Elements of Harmony. Of course there was a chance you'd run into them. Why didn't you pick Appaloosa? Oh wait, right. Buffalo...’ Blu never liked buffalo. He'd always imagine himself being stuck in the middle of a stampede of them and thus, lead his determination not to go near them. Ever. Back to the issue at hand though, he was about to hang out with some of the most, to simply put it, awesome ponies in all of Equestria. ‘Alright Blu, stay cool. Take a few deep breaths and relax. You can squee when you get back to Manehattan.’ The light blue pony breathed a little and relaxed. He was one of the most chill ponies he knew, save for today apparently. His time was up and it was time to be the cool stallion he was always meant to be. ‘Yeah right..’ His inner self mentioned. ‘Just don't blow it and you'll be lucky if even one sticks around to look at your poor excuse for a house choice.’ Of course, there was no saying they would stick around for very long. Then again, Blu had no idea what else would happen that day. ~~~~Refocus~~~~ Twilight was first to approach Blu. He still looked nervous. Why was he nervous? She had no idea. Putting on a small smile, she attempted to speak, only to be interrupted by the most random pony that was Pinkie Pie. "Hey!" she popped up from Blu's right side. "Ready to head to your potential new house?!" The light blue unicorn was a little startled, but regained himself quickly. "Yeah, was just in a little trance before. I'm alright though. Let's head over." a grin appeared on his face, that was a good sign. The three unicorns and the party pony started walking to their destination. Rarity was first to strike up conversation once again. "So, I'd really like to know about you a bit more, Blu. Where are you from?" she asked intently. Thoughts of business running through her head. "Manehattan actually. I've visited Canterlot a few times though." he smiled, despite his past experiences in Canterlot. Now was definitely not the time to go into them. "That's pretty cool." Twilight added. "Do you happen to be related to a certain unicorn that goes by the Great and Powerful Trixie, by the way? You two look so alike that I just though I should ask." Pinkie and Rarity held curious looks as they looked towards their new acquaintance. They too, now that it was mentioned, had been wondering that as well if there happened to be some resemblance. Twi, however, had her turn to look a bit nervous. Blu sighed. "Yeah, she's my younger sister. She mentioned you after that one, incident, back when she visited home." He turned to his left and the lavender pony smiled nervously. ‘Oops, he probably hates me, he probably hates me, he probably hates me...’ Twilight's mind told her. Why did he have to be related to that show-pony...? "I'm...sorry about what trouble Trixie probably caused." the light blue unicorn said, a little embarrassed. "She complained how great you were when she met with me for a stash of bits she let me store in case she ever needed it again. From the boasting, to the challenge, to you taming that Ursa Minor with ease. I was amazed, to say the least. But I'm still sorry for my sisters reckless actions." Twilight sighed and smiled at him. "It's alright, you don't need to be sorry. It boosted my confidence a bit, albeit under somewhat stressed circumstances. Maybe I can meet her again one day and we can patch things up a little." The light blue unicorn relaxed and chuckled. "I doubt she'll want to do it anytime soon, but I appreciate you wanting to patch things up." ‘Thank Celestia she doesn't hate me. I would have been bucked if she was still upset about Trixie's big mouth.’ Before Twilight could respond, Pinkie jumped in. "Come on silly fillies! I see a house with a 'For Sale' sign! It's just a hop, skip, and jump away!" The three mares and the stallion walked up to the 'plot'. It looked to be pretty simple on the outside. Two large windows for both floors of the house. A smaller window which looked to be connected to the kitchen of the home. Certainly a nice abode, but so far, it left things to be desired. Rarity spoke up. "Hate to be a drag, but I don't think I can stick around. It's almost noon and I have to get back to work. Bye Twilight, see you around Pinkie." She turned to leave. "Oh, and I hope you decide to stick around for awhile, Blu. Ponyville could always use a new stallion in town." The white unicorn let out a small, ladylike giggle. How fun he'd be to have around, despite being related to that caped mare. The studious unicorn and the party pony waved a hoof, while Blu gave a nod in the fashionista's direction. Slightly confused at the giggle, he turned back to the property. Pinkie was the first to take a look inside. "Ohh, this is pretty nice. Not much room for a party though." she commented, eyes going to every wall. There wasn't any furnishings in the house besides the basics in the kitchen. "Blu?" Twilight started. He looked at her after his eyes stopped spinning from flashes of pink zooming around the house. "Do you happen to have the measurements of the house?" "Not that I know of. The only info I found on the place was the cost, which was quite a bit. I think the kitchen stuff stays with the house though, so I don't have to buy new ones." he coughed, masking the word ‘again’. Neither pony noticed. The three ponies investigated the rest of the house. Adequate attic space, a nice basement, which could use a carpet, but Blu would figure that out another time. After a nice look at the back room which contained a paper taped to the wall with some much needed information the three went back outside to take one last look at the front of the house. "Well Blu? You think you'll get the house?" the lavender unicorn asked. "To be honest, it's a little pricey. Though then again, this is the best place I've seen in months." Blu responded. "I think I'll like it here." he added with a grin on his face. Pinkie bounced in place. "Oh boy! I have so much to get ready!" she turned to bound off but a hoof stopped her. "Now hold on Pinkie Pie." Twi said with a laugh. "He's not going to move in anytime today, and probably not tomorrow either." she looked at the light blue pony as he gave her a small nod. "Okie-Dokie-Loki. I gotta get back to Sugarcube Corner. Chances are, which are super duper high, that I'm late and I'll have to work harder than usual, which is super hard, to catch up with what needs to be done. Mind popping me over Twi?" She nodded and got in a stance to teleport her. The pink pony winked and nodded at Blu as a goodbye before disappearing from the pair of unicorns view. Twilight turned back to Blu and kept a smile on her face. After a few awkward moments, she started more conversation. "So... You planning on heading back to Manehattan to pack or..." "Well, I have to contact the past owner of the house to see if anyone else is trying to buy the house, and I gotta make sure everything goes smoothly, find something steady I can work with for bits, stuff like that." Blu looked down, smiling awkwardly and shuffling his hoof. "Sorry, I'm getting a bit ahead of myself. You must have things to do today, right?" he asked as he looked back up at Twilight. "Actually, I'm glad you brought that up." the mare smiled at him. "I was studying last night and a few books got dis-organized. You don't mind coming to help, do you?" "Not at all, it's the least I can do since you came along and stayed with me when the others left. Erm, I'll have to thank them too, not to mention apologize to Pinkie for being the cause of her lateness." Blu gave a small chuckle, reminding himself to hopefully see her soon for the task mentioned. "Shall we go then?" "Indeed we shall." Twilight replied with a small giggle. The pair started walking to her home where the real fun was about to begin. ~~~~~~~~ //-------------------------------------------------------// -3- The Inquirer //-------------------------------------------------------// -3- The Inquirer Twilight Sparkle, the Writer The Blu Arc ~~~~Chapter 3~~~~ ~~~~The Inquirer~~~~ The two quickly made it to the book-filled home. It wasn't too far from the house previous so both ponies kept the path in their minds. "Well, here it is." Twilight stated as she looked to the tree. "Huh, it really is a tree." Blu said to himself quietly. "Well then, after you." he said as he opened the door with his magic. "Why thank you." the lavender pony said as she entered in with a small giggle. There was a note on the small table that read: 'Went out with Rarity to get some more gems. Be back tonight.' "Well, isn't that interesting. Guess you'll have to meet Spike tonight then." Twilight said as she 'ported the note to the fridge. ~~~~30 Minutes Ago~~~~ ~~~~Character Focus: Spike~~~~ Spike decided to make some cookies for Twilight, seeing she was out longer than expected. That and he didn't feel like cleaning, so to make up for the time, snacks were in order. They didn't take very long, and the first batch was done, thanks to a little dragon fire. Rarity burst in a bit abruptly. "Spike! This is the Worst. Possible. Thing!" Spike called from the kitchen. "Twilight go a bit bonkers again? Or how bad are we talking here?" He wouldn't be surprised if the royal student did something drastic to learn stuff, as she rambled on last night about how she couldn't find anything else to learn. "Actually, Sweetie Bell used all my gems on one of her designs for the Cutie Mark Crusaders stuff again and I need you to help me get more." she called back. Spike took off his apron and took a cookie for himself and Rarity. Going into the living room, he offered it to her. "Sounds good to me. Cookie?" "Well, I don't see why not." Taking it with her magic, she munched on it while Spike made a note for Twilight. ~~~~Refocus: Present~~~~ "Interesting, and who’s Spike again?" Blu asked curiously. He had never heard of Twilight having a coltfriend, and Spike sounded like an interesting pony. "Oh, he's just my number one assistant. No need to worry about him shooting flames around." "Flames?!" Blu exclaimed, but quickly remembered Trixie saying something about a small purple dragon boasting about how great Twilight was with magic. "Oh, right. Trixie mentioned seeing a small purple dragon when she was in town." "Yep, that's my Spike." The lavender unicorn said with a small giggle. Smelling something from the kitchen, she strolled over and saw the cookies. "Seems Spike made some cookies for us. You want one before we start organizing?" "I don't see why not." the light blue stallion replied while using his magic to grab a cookie. He then looked at the mess of assorted books and scrolls while munching on his cookie to find the best way to tackle what he saw before him. Twilight planned a little for places to put them all while taking a bite from a cookie of her own. "Alright, let's see then." she started. "A few books here, some scrolls here.. Hmm.. Hey, would you mind laying out all the scrolls and books and counting them for me while I find some extra space downstairs to put it all?" "Wuill dew." He replied with a bit of cookie in his mouth. Realizing she might not have understood him by the cute confused look on her face, he just nodded with a small smile and look to the task ahead of him. Twilight smiled. He was a bit of a gentlecolt, cute, and could work when he wanted to. Satisfied, she went downstairs to get space ready. Downstairs was a bit of a mess as well. She had her experiments in one section, experiment files, extra copies of friendship reports, and so on in other sections. Usually, her schedule said to keep everything organized, but since her studying last night did not go so well, things did not go according to plan. She had almost pulled an all-nighter after rambling to Spike, and it had started to wear down on her as she opened up spaces for what she could remember bringing upstairs for her study spree. She lazily sat on the small couch located in the center of the room to count the spaces. “One. Two. *yawn* Three...” Soft snoring filled the room. "Twilight?" Blu said after he was done sorting and came downstairs to check on her. "Oh, I see." Laying on the couch after about an hour was the lavender mare, undoubtedly still tired from Celestia knows what. Spike was to come home soon and honestly, the blue stallion did not want to meet him alone. Seemed he would not have to do much to wake her up. A quick tap on her shoulder and she woke up. "The square root of 546 is 23.36664289109!" It also seemed she did math equations in her sleep, or more specifically, when she was overtired and woken up by anything but herself. The woken up mare, after a few breaths, gave a yawn and looked in his direction. "Sweet Celestia, I must have fallen asleep. How long was I out?" "About an hour I'd say." Blu replied. "How much sleep did you get last night?" "Probably around three hours." Twilight answered. "Erm, sorry." she added with a small blush. "It's fine, just try and get to sleep earlier tonight. It'll probably help out your sleeping pattern." the light blue unicorn suggested. A knock was heard on the door upstairs. "I've got it." Blu told her and teleported upstairs to get it, figuring Twilight wouldn't be far behind. Surprisingly, as he opened the door, he saw Pinkie Pie. "Oh, hey Blu! Where's Twi?" The pink pony asked happily. "She should be behind me." Blu responded, looking back to see she in fact was not behind him. "Oh, she must be still downstairs. She fell asleep for an hour and woke up saying the square root of 546." He added with a chuckle. "Silly Twi, she's smart like that, you'll get used to it." Pinkie said with a laugh. "Can I come in?" "Oh, yeah, of course. I'll 'port downstairs to tell her you’re here." he said, backing up and turning around to make sure she did not already teleport upstairs before heading down again, and came face to face with the studious pony herself. Twi giggled. "No need, I'm already here." she moved away so she could address her pink friend. "What brings you here Pinkie?" "It was a bit of a rush back at Sugarcube Corner, so I came here for a break. Spike could be useful right now too." The cupcake baking pony answered. "He's out with Rarity gathering some gems. He should be back soon but he'd probably be a bit tired so me and Blu could probably help out." the lavender mare answered. "Maybe." the blue pony commented. "I still need to secure that house spot. There's no telling what will happen if I don't go for it. It could be sold to another pony or I might get involved in a bit bidding war." "I can put in a good word for you. We just have to find out who's in charge of the house sale." Pinkie said happily. "I can finish up here Blu. Go see Mayor Mare in Town Hall." Twilight suggested. "Oh, and sorry for keeping you for so long." Blu laughed. "No worries, I'm sure I'll be on time. You think you can point me in the right direction Pinkie?" "Of course." the pink mare told him as Blu opened the door with his magic. "Come over when you’re ready Twi!" "Will do." she said and smiled at them. "See you later then." "Bye Twi." Blu said as he and the party pony started their walk. The lavender mare closed the door and went to work on bringing the books and scrolls downstairs. They were organized in alphabetical order so it was easy for her to bring down to her reserved spots for the items. In her head while she was walking downstairs she was thinking. ‘He called me Twi! That has to be a good sign, right?’ It took her ten minutes to finish up her work. Spike came home with a sapphire in his hand. "Hey Twilight! How did the clean up go?" "Great" She told him happily. "I met a new pony this morning and I have to head to Sugarcube Corner to help Pinkie out. You can head to bed early if you'd like." Spike yawned. "Sounds great." A break sounded wonderful to the dragon. Not wondering about the 'new pony' at the time, he took a bite of his delicious stone of a prize, besides hanging out with his particular interest, and headed to his bed waving a claw goodbye. The unicorn smiled and headed out the door. ~~~~~~~~ //-------------------------------------------------------// -4- The Indecision //-------------------------------------------------------// -4- The Indecision Twilight Sparkle, the Writer The Blu Arc ~~~~Chapter 4~~~~ ~~~~The Indecision~~~~ Blu look upon Town Hall. It was quite nice. He also knew this building could be the difference between being here with Twilight and the other Elements of Harmony, or being stuck back in Manehattan for Celestia knew how long. Shuddering, he approached the building, hoping for the best. Twilight went along to the sugar-covered building she knew as Sugar Cube Corner. The streets weren't very crowded this time of day, but when she got inside her destination, there was a bit of a line, along with a few tables with waiting ponies. "Pinkie?" the lavender unicorn called as she walked beside the line of ponies, approaching the two swinging doors that admitted her to the back. Pinkie trotted in from the kitchen. "Ah! There you are Twi! I need a little help with serving at the moment so could you give these to tables four and seven?" She asked as she held two plates of cupcakes out. Twilight nodded and grabbed them with her magic. The process of going back and forth between the kitchen and the front continued for a while. Soon enough, most ponies had what they wanted and a few just finished paying their bits. Twilight wiped her forehead with a foreleg. Pinkie came out with the last two cupcakes and a chocolate shake. "Here ya go!" She told her last customer as he tossed a few bits and took the tray with his magic. "That was quite a rush." Twilight said as she went back to the kitchen with Pinkie. "Yeah, it was a little hectic, but we made good profit today." the cupcake-making pony said happily as she put the bits she got into the jar. Twilight sat on a chair to rest while the still energetic pink mare made them both chocolate milkshakes. "For a job well done." Pinkie said as she gave her a milkshake. "Tasty." the lavender unicorn smiled as she took it with her magic and had a sip. "Sooo.." Pinkie started as she had a sip of her own. "How do you feel about Blu?" Twilight gained a small blush as the topic of the blue unicorn arose. "He's alright." The party pony giggled. "He has to be more than alright, Twi. Think about it. New stallion, unicorn, seems nice. Do you know how good he is at magic?" "He opened my door for me with his magic. Basic levitation, stuff like that. I'll have to test it out sometime." Twilight said, beginning to be more curious about the pony in question. "You’re not as curious as I am, are you?" "A little." responded Pinkie with another small giggle. Suddenly, she let out a gasp. "Oh my gosh! I need to plan that party still! My party cannon needs fixing and reloading as well, so I won't be able to do too much until they're fixed." "Calm down, Pinkie." a calm Twilight said putting a hoof on her shoulder. "I think I might be able to help you with that, I just need to make sure everything goes as planned, then we can work on the party." "Great!" she smiled at her lavender unicorn friend. "That means yo- err, I mean we can find out how he handles everypony else." Twilight giggled. "I'm sure he'll be fine." "Speaking of that stallion, I wonder how he's doing. He should have come over here by now." the party mare wondered. The two mares headed back after they finished their shakes. The counter bell happen to ring when they started heading over. Thankfully, it was Blu himself. "Hey Blu!" Pinkie greeted. "How'd the house thing go?" "Umm, honestly, not too good." he said with a discouraged face. "Aww, I hope it's not that bad either." the pink mare responded. "Gimme a second." She rushed back to grab a cupcake for the light blue stallion. "Catch!" Blu caught it with his magic. "Many thanks, Pinkie." he thanked as a smile came over his face. She smiled as he took a bite. It always made her happy whenever she could cheer up a friend with a cupcake. "So how bad is your situation then?" Twi asked Blu curiously. "Assuming this is about the house deal of course." Blu nodded and swallowed the rest of the cupcake he was chewing. "Yeah. You think I could look for a certain book at your place to help?" It was her turn to nod. "I live in a library, as you've seen. I'm sure I have what you’re looking for. Spike went to bed early, but it shouldn't be too hard to find." "So, you don't need my help, do you?" Pinkie asked a little disappointed. "Not tonight, but maybe tomorrow if you can." the blue unicorn told her. "Sounds fun! I can work extra hard tomorrow morning so I can help in the afternoon!" the party pony suggested. Blu nodded and smiled again. Blu walked with Twilight yet again to her place. He liked walking beside her because it calmed him a little. Twilight on the other hand was curious what book he needed. "So, about this book." she started. "What is it about and what do you need to learn from it?" "Oh, just the house market, how proceedings usually go, and bidding techniques. Nothing to worry too much about, I just have to worry about not getting the research done in time." the blue pony told her. He was never good at studying; it always took too much time for him. "Okay, I can deal with that, could you tell me about what happen at the Realtor's?" the studious unicorn asked. "I can try." Blu said as he begun the story of his encounter. ~~~~Character Focus: Blu~~~~ Blu saw the mayor inside Town Hall. He'd never been very good talking to people, especially ones in high authority. Carefully, he went inside. The mayor was talking with her assistant when he walked in. "So I told the stallion: ‘If you’re looking for banana's, you've gone banana's because you won't find any in this town!’" the grey-haired mare and her assistant laughed. Blu gave a small chuckle as well. The mayor turn to the newcomer from hearing him. "Well, hello there! What can I do for you?" she said with a smile. "Oh, um, hi." the blue pony started. "Do you know where I could find the House Realtor around here? I took a look at a house earlier today and I wondered if I had a chance to get it." The mayor giggled a little. "What house did you happen to see?" she asked. "The one on Daisy Street." The unicorn replied. "Alright then. She's in the next room. You might need a bit of luck in there though. I'm Mayor Mare by the way, and this is my assistant." Mayor Mare introduced as her assistant gave him a small wave. "A pleasure to meet you. I'm Blu." Blu said with a smile. He chose not to worry about what he'd need luck on, though in the back of his mind, he had a hunch. The mayor gave a nod and Blu headed over to the next room as the two mares started their conversation again. The door was wide open. The room had peach coloured walls, a red carpeted floor, and a brown desk that filled most of the room. On the desk sat a few things that a regular business pony would have, along with a nameplate reading 'Windy Shield, House Realtor' Behind the desk sat a winged mare of a dark red colour. Her ruby red mane flowed down the back of her neck as she sat with her muzzle in some paperwork. Her cutie mark, that was barely visible from Blu's angle, was a frame of a cottage. "Hello there. You must be looking for a house, correct?" the Realtor asked knowingly, sensing his presence in the room. "Actually, I've already found one." the blue unicorn started. "I was wondering if I could get it." "Alright then, I require a few personal information tidbits, as well as a bit of the house's information." the Realtor requested as she handed the blue unicorn a clipboard, which he received with his magic. "Hmm..." Windy Shield hummed as she looked over the clipboard. "Indeed. Well Blu, it appears we are at a stalemate." "Stalemate?" Blu asked, a little confused. "Yes, a stalemate." Windy continued. "You see, there is already a pony aiming to get the house you desire and a contract was already made with that pony. In order for you to still have a chance to get the house you must enter ‘The Bidding War’." "Alright, that doesn't sound that bad, I think." the blue unicorn hoped. "I'm in." "Great. Assuming everything you wrote down is correct, I'll see to it that The Bidding War will be scheduled for either tomorrow or the day after." Windy gave him a polite smile. Blu returned the smile and thanked her. Getting up to leave, however, one last question was asked. "Do you have anywhere to stay for the night? I'd assume you wouldn't want to leave Ponyville until the bidding war is finished." the red-maned pegasus asked. Blu contemplated the thought for a moment. Maybe he could get one of his new friends to house him for the night. Twilight's house surely had a bit of room on the couch at least. He decided to ask about it when he got the chance. "I think I'll have it covered." he responded. "That's good. Stop by again if you have any questions." Windy Shield told Blu. Blu gave another quick nod and left. ~~~~Refocus~~~~ The blue unicorn finished when Twi found the book. In actuality, he left certain parts out and didn't explain it as clearly. "I see..." she said after placing the book on the table. She got the general idea of what happen and what needed to be done. "Well that doesn't seem too bad. You can stay over here to study for however long you can, but I need to get a bit of rest." "Alright, thank you a ton for letting me stay over. Couldn't have gotten through this without you.” Blu smiled. “It was my pleasure. I love to help my friends.” Twilight said with a small yawn. “ You'd consider us friends, right?” “Of course. Have a nice sleep and see you in the morning.” He replied with a nod. “Yep, you too.” Twi replied and headed upstairs. About an hour passed, and Twilight couldn't sleep. Maybe it was because she had slept before? Or maybe Blu had something to do with it. Yes, that has to be it. The couch didn't even have any spare blankets down there! Figuring this was something she needed to fix right away before her mind would be at ease, she got one of the spare blankets she had in storage and levitated it down with her magic with soft creaks down the steps of the stairs. “Blu?” she whispered so only they could hear. Without a response, she levitated to blanket to the side a little to get a view of the sleeping pony on the couch, book flat on his face. With a small giggle and blush, she covered him with the blanket and took the book away. He was almost halfway done already, amazing. Still not as fast as her, but faster than anypony else she knew. Inserting a bookmark, she lay the book down with the others. Looking over Blu once more with a smile on her face, she silently wondered what he was dreaming about. “That’s not creepy at all!” her mind nagged sarcastically. With a sigh, she went back up the stairs and looked for some spare parchment. Thankfully, it wasn’t too hard to find and nor was a quill or ink. Silently, she wrote out a fresh letter with ideas flowing through her mind and with a tie of a bow with a wax seal, the letter was complete. With some spare torn-up parchment, she then wrote out a note for Spike to send it out in the morning before he works on breakfast. Finally tired out, Twilight climbed back into bed and fell into a deserved and peaceful rest. ~~~~~~~~ //-------------------------------------------------------// -1- The Inspiration //-------------------------------------------------------// -1- The Inspiration Twilight Sparkle, the Writer The Blu Arc ~~~~Chapter 1~~~~ ~~~~The Inspiration~~~~ Dear Princess Celestia, A new stallion wandered into town from Manehattan... As usual when somepony walks into town, Pinkie threw a party, but, this stallion was different about it... He was shy at first, like Fluttershy, but when he warmed up to us, he seemed so, cool. 20% Cooler, as Rainbow Dash put it. I have gained quite a liking to him, but, I don't know if he will grow a liking to me... I had lost inspiration to write to you about friendship, however amazing it has already shown, but with this new colt in town I may be able to write about something more than friendship, I hope. With high hopes and a determined heart, your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle P.S. His name is Blu, not Blue. Since I will be writing his name more often I thought I might mention that. ~~~~Earlier that day~~~~ Twilight trotted down the street casually. She had skipped breakfast due to having a plan to join Rarity and Pinkie Pie for brunch. A gurgling sound made itself known as she walked along. She smiled timidly as she drifted to her thoughts. ‘Maybe a small oat bar would have done nicely before deciding to skip breakfast...’ "Twilight!" Pinkie Pie called from the table, breaking Twilight from her thoughts as she trotted over to the table. "You super hungry, Twi? I could hear that belly from way over here!" she giggled. Rarity gave a small chuckle as the lavender pony sat down on the seat and smiled sheepishly. "Good morning darling. How was your morning?" "Oh, not too bad. Spike was being a little lazy this morning and slept in, but I let him since it was a bit of a restless night last night." she said as she remembered the night before. It was so flustering that she forgot about the time and ranted on to Spike till it was two hours past his bedtime and he usually got up early anyway. That was part of the reason she needed to talk with Rarity and Pinkie Pie. "So we heard..." Rarity remarked. All three ponies ordered their usual brunch items, daffodil sandwiches, grass shakes, along with Pinkie Pie's idea of a sugary pick-me-up, cheesecake. Twilight told them about the issue she was having with friendship to her friends as they waited for their orders to come. "I just don't have anything interesting to write about. All of my letter attempts to the Princess since a few days ago have either been torn into pieces, stored in case I think of something else relating to the topic, or just plain never been put down to parchment." "You’re stressing out a bit too much, Twilight. You just have to wait until something comes up. My ideas don't flow very easily but when they do, I'm sketching the design in no time, even if the style isn't in season quite yet. Patience is a common element, even if it's not one of the main six." Rarity explained to her flustered friend. Pinkie was tapping her hooves on the table as they talked. She had a slight idea that could work for Twilight. Friendship was amazing, especially to her since she was friends with every pony in town, but there was still something missing. Twilight had friendship down to a science, or at least enough so that she was having trouble discovering new things about it. What she needed was something more than just a simple friendship: a relationship! The pink mare caught a glimpse of a light blue colored pony out of the corner of her eye. A bit of excitement showed up onto her face as Twilight caught a glimpse of the pony as well. Curiosity overcame her as the lavender mare looked back to her pink friend. "Pinkie..." she started. "Who is that? I haven't seen any blue ponies of that shade before, or at least not that I can remember." "I dunno. He must be new!" the puffy-maned pony responded happily. "Hey! Blue pony! Hiiiiiiiiiii!" She waved excitedly at the pony, which caught his attention and he looked around to see if there was any other blue ponies to be seen. Hoping she was talking to him, he turned to trot to the table, giving off a small smile. "Erm, hi there. I'm a little lost so maybe you could help me out. Do you know where Daisy Street is? One of my mare friends from here recommended I look at a house there since I was thinking of moving to a more quiet spot, but not one too out in the open." the light blue colt told the three. His voice started out a bit high, but quickly moved to a more stallion sounding voice as he grew a bit less shy. "Sure!" the party pony replied excitedly. "If you don't mind waiting until we finish up brunch, we can take you over!" "Why not-" he started, but Twilight jumped in quickly. "Pinkie has a habit of throwing a party for each new pony that comes to Ponyville, that's why she'd rather us show you around to see where you’re moving to. Err, where you might be moving to." she blushed a bit. She too had been a bit eager to talk to this new colt. It was more often that mares came to town then colts, and the fact that the town held a very high percentage of mare owned houses. The fact that a stallion dared to came to look at a house here was quite rare, and that excited the lavender unicorn. Rarity sat back and sipped her grass shake, eyeing him curiously. She was seeing the potential in the light blue stallion, however shy he may seem to be. He was at least worth a shot for Twilight, and seeing her jump in like that proved her suspicions. There was one thing bugging her though... "Darling, before we show you around, do you mind being a gentlecolt and introducing yourself?" She asked. "Ohh, I'm sorry. My name is Blu." he said, blushing from both Twilight's previous blush and the fact that he probably should have to introduced himself since he talked about moving here and it would be a good start to make some friends. "Blue? Like the color Blue? And the color of your mane and your fur? That's awesome!" Pinkie jumped back into the conversation. "My name is Pinkie Pie! Like my hair and fur too! Oh, and these are my friends, Twilight Sparkle and Rarity!" She giggled, pointing to each pony as they gave small waves. "Nice to meet you all. Oh, and my name doesn't have an “E” at the end, just pointing that out now since a lot of ponies assume it's Blue, but it sounds the same, so it might not matter too much." He rambled sheepishly while decreasing in volume as the sentence wore on. Rarity and Pinkie agreed that it wouldn't really matter and nodded their heads, but Twilight made a mental note of it. She was keen on getting names right and one's spelling matters, especially if they bother to mention it. Blu felt awkward and decided to leave the general area. "I'm gonna wait at the corner here until you mares are done, okay? I don't want to make things too awkward, so I’ll talk to you in a bit." he mentioned as he started trotting away. "We won't be too long!" the lavender-shaded pony called as he left. She was still eager to see if he decided to move to Ponyville. "Pinkie, will you finish my cheesecake?" she asked her pink friend, who nodded excitedly. "Well then..." Rarity looked at her unicorn friend as she finished up her own cheesecake. "Perhaps this was what you had in mind?" she smirked as the pink earth pony gobbled down the cheesecake beside her. Twilight looked at the light blue pony from afar, ignoring Rarity's comment and gathered more information on how he looked. He was a unicorn. He looked to be related to Trixie, but he seemed quite different personality-wise. She would have to dig a little to confirm her suspicions though. Focusing back on the pony, she noticed something. His cutie mark was a blank piece of parchment with a quill beside it. Usually, from what she knew, if he had a talent for writing, there would be squiggles on the parchment representing words. She would ask about that too. Was it fate that she met Blu right when her studies of friendship were getting less and less interesting? The lavender mare shook her head, she was getting way too ahead of herself. Everything was finished so Rarity paid the bits for the trio. Pinkie was still a bit hyperactive, like usual, but the cheesecake boost was quite nice for the pink mare. "Alright girls, lets show a stallion around." The white unicorn smiled as they walked away from the cafe. ~~~~~~~~
