"Let's start from the beginning, Mr. Fredric." Fredric sat there, looking like a Opel Blitz had just run him over in his personal opinion, staring at a rather odd sight. Sat across from him, in a rather ornate chair, was a purple winged unicorn. A talking, purple winged unicorn, that could speak. It was a fact that had unnerved him quite a deal when he had first awoken.
Thinking back to the event, he hoped that the unicorn he'd shot was alright. Fredric's attention was brought back to the 'Alicorn' when she cleared her throat, her brow somehow raising curiously at him. He hummed, before responding,
"Where would you like me to begin?"
She smiled, looking down at her clip board, "Well, let's start with where you're from."
Fredric leaned back in his own seat, it squeaking in protest. He winced, "Well, the country I'm from was called Germany. Though, the city was Berlin. A beautiful city really, the capital actually. The sights were gorgeous, the Reichstag was always popular. Too bad all that was probably destroyed in the... I'm rambling aren't I?"
She blinked, a look of bewilderment crossed her face. "Not at all! Hearing about another nation, from another WORLD! It's absolutely fascinating!" Then an interested expression expressed itself, "What do you mean they were probably destroyed?"
Fredric felt his heart start beating a little faster, his head began to sag down, his breath hitching. "... The civil war. They were probably destroyed when the Kaiser's supporters drove the fascists from the city. At least, I hope they did."
Her face became rather neutral, her writing halted faster than he would've liked. "A civil war? Would you kindly explain?" Fredric sighed quietly, leaning forward, laying his hands on his knees.
"This may take a while..." So, after a brief history lesson about the first world war, and the rise of a certain individual, he finally explained," And so, once Rommel backed the Kaiser's claims, it started. I of course, sided with the Kaiser. It's his rightful place." She nodded, finishing writing down his story.
She reread a bit, the silence seeming to ring around the small room. He couldn't rightly tell if she believed him or not, her face sat emotionless as she read. "Were you in the middle of a battle when you arrived," she asked, her sudden words nearly caused him to fall out of his small chair.
He smoothed out his grey uniform, before running a shaky hand through his brown hair. "Yes I was. We had surrounded the town of Bamberg, located in the south. I had been about to... fire a shot when suddenly I was here. Sorry about shooting that man earlier by the way, sorta popped up out of nowhere."
Twilight hummed again, and rolled her hoof in a way he thought impossible. "If you mean the guard stallion, he's fine. It barely grazed him. It's also understandable you shot first, considering how confused you were." Fredric smiled a little sheepishly, looking away towards the rooms door. Much to his surprise, it began to open slowly. Another unicorn poked it's head through slightly, it's white fur almost blinding him. It's eyes scanned the room until the blue orbs locked onto him. They seemed to widen momentarily, before seeming to harden into a harsh gaze.
The door opened more, allowing it access to the room. He noticed it was in fact another Alicorn, specifically the one that had tried to apparently disarm him with magic to no affect. She turned her head to Twilight, a smile spreading across her face. "Ah, Twilight. Have you made any progress with it yet?"
Twilight seemed extremely excited for some reason, a reason He assumed he would learn about later. "I have indeed princess, though it is a HE, and has a name." She shot him a quick look, "Don't be rude, introduce yourself!"
Fredric blinked, before quickly standing and giving the apparent royalty a brief bow. "Princess, my name is Fredric von Baker. My mother was English so she decided to name me Fredric, but my family have always been bakers so... there's the last name I suppose. I lived in England most of my life but recent events drove me to the fatherland... I'm gonna stop rambling now," he stated nervously, retaking his seat. He turned to see her reaction, and it was about what he expected from a monarch. Stone faced with a cautious gaze. At least it was better then the angry one he was getting earlier, Fredric supposed.
The princess turned to Twilight with a raised brow. "What's an England?" Twilight suddenly giggled, making him a little uncomfortable. Laughing at a princess was never a really bright idea, and he was suddenly questioning her mental state.
Suddenly, Twilight turned to him with a scrutinizing look, "I thought you said you were from Berlin, in Germany?"
He blinked, before nodding. "I was born there. That's where I originated, but I lived in England for a long time. Never really understood a lot of German culture but... half German. Sorta had to return eventually. I just wish it had been under better circumstances." That seemed to satisfy her. She seemed to skim over her notes, before handing them to the princess. Fredric glanced around, trying desperately to find something to focus on while this giant white horse with wings and a horn apparently decided his fate.
When he finally returned his gaze to her, he was surprised to see quite a bit of sympathy on her features. It looked like she was almost in tears. She set down the clip board gently, before nearly making him jump out of his boots by wrapping a giant wing around him. "You had to kill, didn't you," she whispered above him. He blinked, not really expecting this.
"Well, yeah. Sorta comes with war I suppose, but I knew that when I volunteered." She jolted back a bit, enough to look down at him, surprise evident.
"Why would you volunteer to fight?"
He shrugged, looking at his hands, before responding in a distant voice," Someone had to fight. Figured it should be me." The princess seemed to think about it, her multicolor mane somehow flowing in the non existent wind.
She released him from her embrace, before muttering, "You are an interesting creature, for sure. We shall continue this conversation at a later date. I'll have Twilight show you to a guest room." With that, she left, leaving him behind slightly relieved.
Fredric looked over at Twilight, noticing a growing frown. "I wonder why Celestia didn't introduce herself..." she mumbled, before standing up and motioning towards the door. "Come on, I'll show you to a room you can stay in."
With that she opened the door, and exited the room. He stood, walking towards the door. No matter how hard he tried, he simply couldn't wrap his head around the situation. He needed a cold pint.
