Chapter 1
The cricket’s chirpings echoes though the night as the moon shines ever so brightly. A young unicorn mare laid on her bed as she tries to sleep. But for what ever reason sleep just eludes her as she could feel the cool night breeze. She rolled over onto her side and looked at her friend Spike. Spike is a young purple dragon with a green scaled belly and green spikes down his spine. His young premature wings rested against his side. He was hatched from an abandoned egg and imprinted on Twilight whom he loves very much. Spike was fast asleep just snoozing away probably dreaming about flying one day. Twilight sighed and rolled out of bed. She walked over to the window and leaned out of the window to stare at the stars.
The Stars and the Moon are controlled by the Princess of the Night while the Sky and the Sun are controlled by the Princess of the Day. Princess Celestia is the oldest of the two, Princess Luna is the youngest. The two rules together over the Equestria Kingdom as one, side by side with companion and justice. They are one of the most powerful beings that lived. The Equestria Kingdom is a peaceful nation that has been around for thousands of years, its citizens consist of many nations under one flag. Pegasus, Unicorns, Earth Ponies, Crystal Ponies, Minotaur’s and Griffins. It stands as a symbol that all races can be united and be able to be at peace with no ire.
Twilight is currently studying under the guidance of both Celestia and Luna as their apprentice. She loves every minute to hang out with them. From the time that she was born, she was blessed with high magic that made her stand out. When she was five years old, the two Princesses just happened to pass by and saw her trying to cast a very powerful magic. They were both impressed at not only her ability to try casting a such powerful spell but for her mind as well.
Twilight decided to take a nightly walk outside to clear her head in hopes that she could find peace. Twilight lives on the edge of Everfree Forest, she loves this place because it’s nice and calming. The Everfree Forest is a place where wild magic resides. Everything in the forest is not normal, the plants, the animals, the air, the water and the earth are all wild. They act according to their own will and Twilight wanted to study it all.
She wanted to get to the real question…why is this all wild? There has to be an explanation for it and by the Celestia Sun she’s going to find it. The evening was warm due to the high humidity that the forest has produced but it was cooled down by the nightly breeze. Twilight moved through the forest with no problems at all, for she has done this many time over the few months. She can’t figure out why the area is full of magic.
She reached her shed and walked in. It was a poorly built shed but it was sturdy and kept the rain out from ruining her papers and journals. She turned on the lantern and it reviled a small desk with a ton of papers. There were some nails with framed butterflies and insects hanging up. She shuffled around until she found a black journal. She then went to the wall and pushed in one of the nails. This caused a rumble and it opened up part of the floor, revealing a set of stairs. She grabbed the lantern off from the hook and went down.
After a few minutes, she reached the bottom of the stairs and she went over and caused her horn to glow. This cause some crystals to glow and soon more started to glow, within a few seconds the crystals illuminated light that filled up the whole floor. It revealed a really big room with tons of plants growing and water was flowing through these small canals. Twilight walked over and inspected each of the plants to check out it’s progress. See if any change has happened or any fruits have been ripened for picking or to see if any plants could bare fruits at all.
Twilight spend some time checking every plant to make sure that none has died. But every time Twilight comes in here. She would always find the tristle bush (that what she called it) has died for the 5th time. She couldn’t figure out why this was dying? All of the other plants seemed to be thriving but this one, oh it always dies on her. She made a note on the water and the temperature, the area it was in and how much sunlight it was getting and then added it to the black journal. After about 2 hours, she was done and finished some last notes and went back up stairs.
As soon as she was upstairs, she placed the lantern back on the hook. The floor closed just as soon as the lantern was placed on the hook. The floor made it like there was no trap door was ever built in this place. She turned out the light and then left to step outside.
Outside twilight could see the moon was on the verge of setting on the horizon. It means that the Sun would be up and spike would be up at the time. She needed to hurry on home. Twilight made her way following her trail that she made herself. As twilight went pass a tree something caused her to be in shock. To the right was a cave that she hasn’t seen before, at all. “Was this always been here?” Twilight thought to herself. “No, it can’t be? I made this path myself I would remember this cave. I mean it’s huge, how can I miss it?”
The cave entrance was indeed huge it was about 30ft tall and 20 ft wide. Twilight made her way inside and was astonished at the rock formation. For in the rock were some fossils of creatures that she never saw before. “Fascinating!” Twilight thought as she examined the rock. She made her way through and a few minutes in, she felt something she hasn’t felt before. There was a small humming in her ears and it was low. She continued for a bit but to her astonishment it was the back of the cave. It showed characteristics of a language that she never saw before. At least she thought it was a language, for how it was placed but she can’t really tell. There was a spiral and in the spiral was a hole. Twilight moved her hand across the hole to examine it. THUNK! Something pricked her finger and it pricked her hard. “OW!” Twilight yelled and she removed her hand from the hole. She looked inside but couldn’t see what caused the pain. “Ow.” Twilight said. She sucked on her finger and could taste her blood. She shivered for she’s not a big fan of blood, especially her own blood. “I need to head back before spike get’s up. I need to make a few notes about this so I can come back and continue to study it.” Twilight wrote in her black journal and then left the cave. As soon as she was outside, she could feel the beginning rays of the morning sun. She headed back home but stopped as she thought she heard something? “There’s that ringing again.” Her ears ringed but with the sun she decied to ignore it and head home.
Back inside of the cave the spiral grew and from in the middle of the spiral a dark purple light came out and out pop up a dark purple gem. It sparkled and glimmered as it sat there, waiting for something. Some vines started to come down on the walls and covered up both the gem and the writings as it creaked its way onto the ground floor.
