It ain't so easy surviving.
Chapter 1 - Where are you?
Rainbow took in a deep inhale, feeling her heart pound out of her chest. Once again, she was having one of her signature breakdowns. " . . . Twi, am I not a good mom? Like I know I'm cool, but am I honestly cool in that way? " Rainbow knew her answer, it was almost obvious she'd get the typical 'oh, you're a great mom!' kind of response.
Though she didn't expect this out of the timid bookworm.
" You certainly could be better, really, it's your bad decisions that led you here. Stop mourning on the past, start thinking toward the future! " The purple mare raised her ears proudly at her statement.
" . . . "
" What are you afraid of? " Twilight pressed on. Rolling her eyes at the sight of Rainbow putting her mane in a messy bun, the blue mare insisting that alcohol would fix her problems and made it obvious by her chugging of the liquid.
" . . . What do you think? I got drunk, got knocked up by some colt, and now I am a bad mom . . . who doesn't know what to do, and never in a million moons would I ever give her up. Only if I really have to. " Sorrow struck Rainbow's eyes as she said that, coming to terms that she wasn't as cool as she use to think.
" Give her up? You shouldn't ever!-- "
" Twilight. " She said suddenly, her tone rang with anger, still gulping down the drink. She finally fully turned, to see a slightly surprised purple pony. "... I'll do what's best for her, even if it hurts me... "
" . . . She loves you, she wouldn't ever want you to give her up! " Twilight snapped, adjusting her glasses heavily in the process. " ..... Don't you see? You're the best mom she could ask for. "
" A drunk alcoholic, with a low paying job, who can't be home most of the time, and a drug addict? Yeah, I'm just a dream come true! " Rainbow huffed, to Twilight's anger, the mare seemed uncaring of her advice. Not like Rainbow wasn't stubborn, she wanted to be better though.
" . . . Maybe Rarity could help? " Twilight smiled a little. " She's been raising her little sister for so long-- "
" Her?! My ex? Yeah, right. She can live her perfect life with her husband, I don't need her in my life! " Rainbow rudely remarked, slamming her hoof on the table with dominance. " .... I just need a couple more drinks. "
Scootaloo sat, her tail swaying as she stared up at the sky above, the stars twinkled aimlessly. Pictures were broken on the floor, and she even found herself cleaning it up. Once again, her mother had come home drunk and crying, once again promising to be better. It's not that her mom ever laid a hoof on her, she just... wanted a mom. If she wasn't destined to have a mom, to have a sister, to have a dad? What was she for?
" Mom? . . . Is there food in the fridge? " Scootaloo gestured for her mom to approach, yet nothing. She was laying down, cuddled up in a ball, sobbing. This wasn't new to the little orange filly, though each time her heart ached worse.
It's your fault, you're the one who brought these tears to her.
Scootaloo hated to admit it, but she considered the possibility that Rainbow wasn't her mom, they looked nothing alike aside from eyes and body shape, even if her mom's eyes were much different, they still were close in a way right? That's what she told herself, was she just a direct clone of her dad then?
..Whomever he may be?
" . . . Hiyaaaaa, Scoots! " Her mother said in a drunk voice, she was all too familiar with. She walked over with a small smile, slowly covering her mom up with a warm smile.
" ... That's fine... I'll make breakfast. " She tried to flap her wings, yet again, she failed. Being forced to use her hooves to transport herself once again, she walked over. Grabbing the frying pan with her teeth, eventually making a simple mac and cheese dinner.
She loved her mom, she really did. Though she was also curious as to who helped create her, it was obvious her dad had no relationship with her mom, but... who was he? Was he wealthy, could he change their lives? What if he and mom fell in love, and she had a little sibling?! A roof over her head... a determined way to make her mom better!
A way to make her better.
She did not want much, she just wanted a happy family. Just like most did.
Scootaloo rid herself of those thoughts, it wasn't about that! Her mother would do right, she would do right! There's no way it could be like this forever. Though, as she cooked, she got lost in thought. Remembering her grandparents, who had passed away. She didn't want to remember it.
She tried to focus on the food, making two plates for herself and her mother, sighing heavily. " . . . Mom, dinner is ready. " Scootaloo said with a heavy huff. Though, her mother didn't come out to her dismay.
" . . . " Scootaloo stared up at Rainbow, his eyes observing Rainbow more than she ever has. When she saw her mother received a letter that wasn't neatly wrapped up, she stared at it with suspicion, like anypony would. She opened it gradually, expecting someone to be screaming at her mom about something she did when she was drunk. Though, it begun with familiar writings her mother wrote in her journal strangely. She stared emptily, she felt rude snooping.
...but she was concerned she had come across another suicide note of her mom's.
" . . . Mom, I-- " She let her eyes travel over the page, it begun with words she never thought she'd hear from her mom.
Hey,
It was so simple, yet so... worrying for some reason.
What's up? It continued.
Your daughter misses you. Come see her, now.
Misses who? I only knew two or three ponies I would miss... my mom, my only friend, and Twilight.
Rainbow Dash was an adventurous pony always, and whenever she got the chance, she'd do things that'd risk her life at any chance if it meant some fun. Pictures proved that. Twilight was always more calm and less adventurous, but the two completed themselves as best best friends. I wouldn't be considered Twilight's daughter, now would she..?
...It took a moment for her to realize her mother maybe attempting to contact her dad. On the table stand, also laid Scootaloo's plush, she had lost so long ago. She quickly snatched it.
Is this true?--
...It'd be best not to have high hopes.
Her mom did her best, despite being so utterly imperfect.
She loved her. She didn't need a dad, she already had one. Her life was fine..
She cuddled up near her mother, whispering. " It's okay, mommy, you're doing fine. " Which somehow gained a smile from the sleeping mare, she nuzzled up against Rainbow.
" Night, Scoots...I promise tomorrow I'll be better. "

ONESHOT PrETTY MUCH - i know this is short and could probably be continued, but i think it's just me doing a preview of what a storyline could be? idk. lmaoo, let's see. i have a lot of things to do all the time, if i like this then i'll dedicate a full story to these two.
