I sat in my room overlooking the beach of Manehattan, seeing the many happy foals playing in the water and on the beach, the occasional jock throwing a frisbee or kicking a ball. I overheard yelling from the street below and the bustling of early Manehattan greeted me.
I sipped softly at my coffee, burning my tongue softly, making me wince. The new radio I bought commentating over a hoofball game happening in upper Manehattan.
"The game is going great, as the Appleloosan Buckers are beating the Las Pegasus Side Show's by a healthy 5 to 3, in just the first quarter," the announcer keeps rambling on. I smile as I keep listening, hereing as the Las Pegasus Side Show's make an outstanding comeback tying up the score at 5 to 5 at the end of the second quarter."
I put my coffee down on my dresser, and grabbed my badge and cap, reading "Manehattan Subway Security". I reached for my coffee but it feel off the dresser, shattering on the floor as my entire world started shaking. The shaking was loud yet short, ending as quickly as it started, but my room was now a mess, dressers toppled over and dishes shattered on the floor. It took me a second to regain my balance. I look out the window as I see everypony else panicing and confused as to the shaking. I quickly made for thw exit, terrified of the building I stand in to crumble around me.
Yet outside wasn't much better either, the streets were stuck, streetlights toppled over, carriages stuck in traffic jams and ponies just scared of what the hell happened. I lost my balance as the entire city shook, mares screamed in panic as I heard a distant rumble, followed by dust coming from around the corner of the intersection.
"Oh sweet Celestia, that building just collapsed," a stallion yelled out, as I heard crying and yelling for help. Me and several other ponies ran to see if we could help, but around the corner was just rubble, the street was blocked off in the center. I saw several legs and bodies.
"Quickly, get down here," Ponies rushed into the subway system, just as another shake rocked the city, this onr being the worst of the shakes, as windows in buildings exploded, buildings crumpled and the subway collapsed immediately. I was grabbed a forced to run as a building collapsed right where I was standing, the tall building crushing a poor mare who wasn't as fortunate.
I kept running towards the hoofball stadium. Another shake hit the city, causing streets to crack and explode as water pipes burst and gas lines explode. I slowled to stop as I saw the stadium, or what was left of it. The stadium was now a burning pile of rubble, the walls cracked and collapsed, entrances blocked off and walls falling over. I felt like crying as I collapsed, but I couldn't cry as I heard the sound of rushing water, and it sloely got closer. I looked around before I saw it, the massive wall of water rushing towards me. Several stories high and black in color, looking more like tar than water. Tears ran down my cheeks as ponies ran inland, but I had no chance to move as water rushed over me, killing me quickly.
Celestia sat in her throne, mane disheveld from the shakes she felt and hour prior, the shakes having confirmed been from the paper she read desribing to her the disaster that was Manehattan. How several shakes rocked the city followed by a massive wall of water, seven floors tall. Hundreds were dead and millions of bits in damage. Celestia was terrified, as she's never seen anything like it. She doesn't know what caused it or if it will happen again.
"Sister, what should we do?" Luna asked her clearly frightened sister. Celestia looked up and nearly had tears in her eyes.
"S-Send aid to Manehattan, try and rescue as many as possible, give support to families," she told her sister who nodded and procedded to give the order to guards, rescue workers, and military. "Don't let radio stations broadcast this, I don't want a panic in my country."
"Yes, princess," a guard told her as he walked off.
"I want whatever caused this to my little ponies to found out and understood what the hell caused this," Celestia demanded, swearing for the first time in a few thousand years. Everypony was aghast, but quickly recovered from the shock, but screams came from everywhere as the castle shook, just like when Manehattan shook. Everypony was terrified, but the shaking slowly subsided. All ponies quickly evaxuated the castle, and waited but another shake didn't arrive.
"An aftershock," Celestia turned around and saw a mare.
"Aftershock?" Celestia asked softly.
"Y-Yes, princess, like with lightning, you see it then hear it a few seconds later, but the shakes earlier where so big, we're just now hearing it about an hour later."
Celestia smiled and nodded at the mare before allowing everypony to go back inside. Once inside everypony quickly got back to what they needed to be doing, and within the hour hundreds of rescue ponies where in the ruins of Manehattan, joining those already there.
Las Pegasus was booming, not even feeling the shakes from the close Manehattan, ponies were running to and from hotels, bars, and casinos. Clouds slowly rolled overhead, but many ponie paid no mind to them. Rain slowly started coming down, and slowly it turned into a turretial downpour, keeping ponies indoors as the were confused by the strange change in weather.
Ponies pointed to the sky as a thin funnel slowly dropped from the sky, landing on the smooth road of the gambling powered city. The rain slammed into the ground as hail started shattering the roofs of house and windows, while the tunnel of wind ravaged casinos, ripping buildings from the ground, trees from their roots, and ponies from the safety of their residences or shelter.
