Spero's tales: Request from a king
“Would you care to explain why you’re here?” A unicorn made out of black crystal, holding a cup of coffee, asks a female human wearing purple and blue clothing. The human sighs and holds her head in her hand and responds.
“The newly crowned, King Shaded has asked me to look for somepony,” she starts to explain, however, she is swiftly interrupted by a magical zipper covering her mouth.
“I am aware of why you are here. But I am asking how are you here?!” The unicorn questions, while the human unzips her mouth free. “Because last time I checked, that mirror turns humans into ponies and vise versa!” He shouts, gathering the attention of multiple ponies and a confused face from the human.
“Look, it’s been a long day. I’ve basically travelled everywhere and I just want to sleep. So do you know anypony that goes by the name, ‘Spero’?” The human yawns.
“Yes, I am Spero. Now leave me alone.” Spero answers, chugging his coffee dry. The human raises her eyebrows in suspicion.
“Fine, Spero, you need to go to the castle.” The human sighs pushing past Spero forcing him to drop his cup on the ground, however before she leaves she is suddenly enveloped in black and red magic. “H-Hey! What are you doing?!” She shouts as Spero magical lifts her above the ground.
“You may have kept your human body,” Spero answers, while multiple ponies question what is happening to the creature being suspending in the air. “However, I’m currently busy and I do not want to hear about you and that impersonator of yours.”
“What are talking about!? Impersonating!?” - being forcefully lifted by magic the human starts waving her arms and legs wildly hoping to break free - “Can’t we just talk before you do anything?!” The constant shouting with waving arms and legs catches the attention of anypony near them, this time with whispers, questions and glares.
Spero notices everypony near him. “Fine.” He sighs letting his magic run free, dropping the human on the ground with a large thud. “Only because of everypony here.” He tells the crowd surrounding them, while the human manages to drag herself up.
“Well... My name is Flame.” The human sighs, trying to start a conversation with Spero. “And, -” she walks towards the closest hotel-looking building scraping past Spero’s hard crystal body “- I would prefer to relax inside for once.” She finishes, dusting herself off.
“I was planning on buying a book on Gorgar.” Spero responds avoiding the conversation. “And so I am going to.” Spero tells Flame as he begins to trot away.
“So… What brought you to Baltimare?” Flame asks chasing after Spero, who is clearly not interested in what Flame has to say.
After a prolonged silence between to the two creatures, Spero breaks it with disappointment. “You are not going to leave me alone are you?” A childish grin grows on Flame’s face.
“No. And I don’t think you can do anything about it.” Flame smiles, gesturing to the number of ponies trotting along the streets, some staring at her while others keep to their own. A soft, red magical aura starts to swirl inside Spero's crystal body creating a mirage of black and violet.
“What must I tell you, for you to leave me alone?” Spero growls, frustrated at the human as he gives her a frozen glare. Noticing Spero’s glare, Flame couldn’t help herself but chuckle.
“Until Shaded tells me to stop,” Flame answers walking ahead of Spero, who reluctantly continues after her. “he seems really curious about you, even though he doesn’t know anything about you,” She continues, receiving a raised eyebrow from Spero. “besides your name.”
With a sigh from Spero, he teleports out and in of existence scaring Flame, a black mist escapes from Flame’s mouth and eyes, only to burn away in the light. Spero gives Flame a questioningly glare, however, he continues to check a scroll that he gathered in his rather instant adventure. “Here.” He tosses the scroll to Flame. “It is outdated, however, it should still suffice.”
Scroll in hand, Flame starts to inspect it:
Wheatgrass instead of paper, ends are covered in blue dragon scales and white gems, looks like something from a museum but it’s unaged. “How old is this?!”
“More than a millenia or two.” Spero answers, prying Flame back to reality and the realization that she asked that out loud.
“Wait wasn’t Equestria formed just over a millennium!?” Flame asks, internally questioning the age of the pony in front of her. He looks like too young! Those words constantly cutting away at her inner questions.
“Yes, althrough once somepony reaches thousands they end up forgetting their own date of birth.” Spero answers again, getting rather annoyed that Flame will not leave him alone. However, his answer just confuses Flame even more.
“Did you just steal this from the local museum?” Flame asks Spero thinking that theft is the only solution to her questions. Spero closes his eyes in annoyance of Flame’s constant questions.
“Why don’t you read before you ask questions?” Spero tells Flame as he shoves one of his hooves into the scroll. Flame fearfully opens the scroll, wishing that exposing the wheatgrass to air doesn't cost her millions of bits. The scroll opens without as much resistance as Flame guessed it would’ve, the writing on the scroll seems to be made out of small crystals instead of grass pigment old scrolls are known for. The writing in itself makes old ponyish look new however, Flame can make out some of the words with difficulty.
