She wasn’t ready.
In fact Didi had never felt she was ready and now it was time to face up to her responsibilities. Right now she was alone in her portion of the cave network staring blankly at well...nothing. But she had no choice. The pack operated by line of succession. Her father, now no longer in charge had no other pups. Didi was his only child. She had often hoped for a brother or sister to have come along in later years, but that just hadn’t happened. Even then she was the oldest and whatever happened meant she would have to be the one to take up the reigns of looking after her people.
Right now she was just waiting to be fetched and the ceremony to begin. Diamond Dogs weren’t really one for grand affairs and living beyond their means. However a new leader was only crowned and brought in once in a lifetime for most of them. It was probably one of the very few times they all came together as a somewhat loose collection of what might even be called a family. Didi cocked her head to the side thinking about the word. Up until now all she had really done for family was be the best daughter she could and try to contribute in her small way. It didn’t help that she was painfully shy. Most creatures who lived above ground didn’t view Diamond Dogs in the best light anyway after a group from another pack had kidnapped a gem-finding pony that time. Since then the majority had remained underground to mine gems and keep to themselves. The shyness had helped with that, rarely did any of them venture to the surface and in Didi’s case her father had protected her from needing to do so, citing her shyness.
The room Didi in itself was sparse, in fact it didn’t resemble much of a room unless you counted the bed. That was the only real luxury she had as dotted about her were just small storage areas for little knick-knacks she had gathered over the years. She didn’t even have a mirror, just one particularly shiny gem she had plucked from a cavern years ago and kept hidden in her room. She got up, pulling it out from its hiding spot and looking at the reflection of herself in it.
Didi herself wasn’t particularly special looking as a Diamond Dog. Light brown coat, pointed ears, average height for her kind. Her big distinguishing feature was a white heart shaped patch of fur that covered a large portion of her chest, even going onto her breasts. It continued somewhat down to her belly button.
She wasn’t dressed up much for the ceremony either. A small gem-adorned crown sat on her head, not a usual piece of clothing for her. She much preferred more comfortable clothes, often opting for a tattered jacket which she had had in her possession for years. She was still wearing it mind you, and her also her ragged leather dog collar which was slightly loose fitting. You weren’t a Diamond Dog without a collar right? Hers simply read her name with a few notches on the side that indicated she was the daughter of the pack leader. Another notch would be added in the ceremony now, to indicate she was the leader.
She put the gem away back in its hiding spot before she was disturbed and went back to sitting on the edge of her bed, her slender frame more than light enough for the large bed to support her without issue. Didi had never been much of an eater, her father on the other hand took whatever meals came his way. He had always said to be a great leader and show the others that you meant business was to intimidate them with a great fat belly. Now he was gone she pondered his words. She had heard something from the Master of Ceremonies too about fattening up. She wondered if it was optional…
Her ears twitched somewhat, she could hear outside her room the heavy stomping of paws going up and down the halls as the final preparations were made. She was far too young to have seen one before, only having been told in stories from her mother and father about when her father had risen to his position. Her mother had said it was a glorious affair. She was excited that now she could experience it again, but with her daughter. Her mother though was off like the rest of them preparing for the coming event. Didi was to remain until she was called.
Next thing her nose sniffed the air, there were smells. Wonderful smells. The scents that permeated the air were rare for the cave network. Meals for Diamond Dogs were often simple. Whatever the pack could scavenge from above ground or steal from passing traders near one of their surface holes was often what was eaten. Sometimes for an evening they might get hold of a few carrots or the next night an unaware travelling pony would pass by with a cart loaded with treats. Didi remembered one time they had managed to capture one that was hauling a cart loaded with what the older ones had referred to as ‘candy’. She had never tasted anything like it before or again, the raids never seemed to get as lucky as they did that time.
What she was smelling now wasn’t candy, but it was certainly a lot better than what she was used to. It had a homely smell. Diamond Dogs didn’t cook very often but she recognised that smell anywhere, it was one of their own recipes being put together in what must have been gigantic batches to feed all that were attending. She relaxed, feeling a little more at ease and lay back in her bed. At that moment though she heard a noise from the door in her room.
Fwip!
Leaning back up she looked over, a rather ragged piece of parchment had been slipped under her door. She started reading, it was instructions for the ceremony. Half of it told her things she already knew, she would be fetched for it...the ceremony would likely last the rest of the day...many Diamond Dogs in attendance, the majority of the pack…
Scanning down there was a few more details. A small acceptance speech, that made her nervous again. She had nothing prepared. Sighing she decided to do what she generally did in these sorts of situations and make it up on the fly. There was a small section however that caught her eye pertaining to her previous thoughts.
As the new Pack Leader you will be expected to show you are strong. Strength is displayed best through a full stomach. Any who would challenge you would be foolish to do so if you were better suited to simply knock them over with size rather than strength. The ceremony marks the beginning of that process. To be fully recognised as the Alpha you must look like the Alpha. Eat heartily tonight and eat well, there is more to come.
Not optional then clearly. She had wondered why father often looked as if he had eaten enough food for the whole pack when the rest of them managed to scrape by on whatever came their way. The rest of the note was unremarkable. Didi put it on the floor by her bedside and went back to daydreaming. This was shattered however by the banging of drums. A slow, rhythmic beat that echoed down the halls. Its intention was obvious, it was not a new noise or foreign to her ears. It was the melody always used to summon the pack to the great hall for any important event. Clearly they were asking any guests to now make their way there. It would be her turn soon enough.
More heavy clumping of paws outside, now the guests were passing by to get to the hall. Her mind could imagine what it must look like this evening. Usually in the past it was a wide open area with but a few tables, chairs and of course the Alpha’s seat where her father had once sat and sorted out problems within the pack. Sometimes this devolved to fighting. Another reason as to why the room itself contained little to nothing in it. Often in a brawl things got broken or destroyed. Tonight she expected it to be different. How different though she wasn’t sure.
The noise of passing paws abated and Didi had to only wait a few more moments before she heard a knock at her door, opening it up she was greeted by a familiar face. It was her mother, a little dressed up but not beyond recognition.
“It’s time, are you ready?”
Didi stood for a moment, she knew she still wasn’t. The time in her room had not done a lot to answer that question, but to be a leader you had to act like one. She forced a smile and simply replied.
“Yes.”
At that point her mother took her to the main hall. It certainly was different, long tables set up with every pack member sat at them, their eyes on her as she entered and made her way towards the throne. They were expecting great things from a new leader. Didi herself sat on the throne, it was something she would need to get used to. She’d be spending a lot of time here from now on.
The ceremony itself was long and drawn out, the Master of Ceremonies themselves clearly only getting to practise this maybe twice, or most likely once in their entire lifetime was putting in every effort to make sure it went as smoothly as possible. Didi indulged him and let him prattle on about their great pack, how strong they were, how a new leader would make them stronger and allow them more prestige with the other packs. After an hour she could feel herself nodding off at the throne, catching herself just in time to hear the last words of the speech.
“And now I give you our new leader, Didi, daughter of our previous and great leader to take his place.”
A great thumping erupted around the hall as Diamond Dogs banged their clenched paws on their tables and the drums played once more. Didi herself stood up from the throne and again through a forced smile gave her on the fly speech which seemed to satisfy, just using her words to play up to what she knew the pack wanted to hear. She thought it was for the best.
Without so much as a gap after sitting back down on the throne she saw one of the many younger pups bringing a bowl towards her of the meal that had passed her nostrils earlier. The hall went silent again, watching her as the bowl was offered up to her. Didi ate it to a rousing and loud cheer from the pack. She finished the meal quickly, already feeling full from it. The rest of the pack went back to eating at their tables, but as soon as she was done another pup brought up another bowl which she ate. This was followed by another, then another...another. Every one she ate was replaced with a fresh bowl of more food. Was this a perk of being the Alpha? Or was it just a part of the ceremonies? Regardless Didi thought it best to just eat and try to keep it down, the food was rather delicious.
The rest of the night was filled with merriment, the pack eating far more than usual and then heading home in the early hours to snooze off the meal. Didi herself felt like she had eaten a small cartload of food, her slender frame still slender but she had put on quite a few pounds of added weight with all the meals. Hopefully that was the end of it, but those words from her father and on the parchment echoed somewhat in her head. She’d need to be more imposing, no one had challenged her at the ceremony but she couldn’t be certain that would stay that way. If she showed weakness, she may lose the throne and her family. Right now however, she had several meals to sleep off and recover from. She could deal with that tomorrow.

Two years of rule had been taxing on Didi, mentally and physically.
She had not eased into the role of Alpha, with her timid nature it had been difficult at first. She had had to toughen up quite considerably rather quickly.
In the first number of weeks she had been challenged for her rule by other members of the pack who had thought their families or themselves were far more suited to being leaders. Didi had successfully fought of every single one but at a cost, her timid nature had vanished. With every confrontation and brawl she had found herself having to toughen up. Not only in her attitude but with her very nature as well, this had then had an effect on her physique…
Didi was no longer the slim Diamond Dog she had been at that ceremony two years ago. She was now much more hefty. Those words from the parchment had stuck with her. Still opting to wear the same clothes, the young leader was now finding the loose collar she had was no longer loose - neck fat making sure it was now rather snug around it.
The tattered jacket she wore again still fitted her but barely. Most of the buttons on it were struggling to keep her engorged belly from pushing out from underneath the fabric. Didi had matured as well, her large breasts struggled the most under it. She was unsure if that was just a side effect of growing up or if her boobs had taken on some of the added pudge as well. It was lucky Diamond Dogs didn’t really wear pants, her thighs were becoming rather thunderous in nature as she shifted around in her throne, her fat ass was now taking up a large majority of the space behind her and almost wedging her in place giving her little room to manoeuvre. She was sure by now she had even overtaken the heft of her father who was large but had never quite amassed himself to the size that she had become in just two years.
A short time after those first few weeks of fights Didi had come to the conclusion that the way to keep the pack busy, especially the Betas who were trying to dethrone her, was to keep them out of her hair by ordering them to do things. Nothing absurd like raiding another packs caves but other things that would be beneficial to herself and to the rest of them. The thoughts she had about the candy had also made her surmise that because they were often short of food, raids and attacks on food carts and other places above ground would be a good idea.
So that is exactly what Didi had ordered the rest of the pack to do. A new policy, more raids every day on farms, food carts and if they were bold enough, any shops they could get into. There was one special order however though, if any of the pack should come across any sweet candy in a raid or other baked goods it was to be brought straight to her and fed to her. Any transgression from this would see them banished. If they brought her sweets, they would be rewarded.
After the first few raids it had not taken long for one of the Beta pups to bring her a haul of candy. She remembered it like it was yesterday, her first feeding session had been rather wonderful. The feeling of satisfaction as the Beta had given in to her demands and fed her personally was like no other. She had wanted the session to last longer, with every bite she had felt her body pudge up and gain weight but of course the food was eventually gone. No matter though, with the rewards she was offering any Beta who brought her food she quickly found that they had started to specifically target places or roads travelled they knew would have ponies bringing confectionery to towns. Before long Didi was on a daily basis being fed as many cookies, cakes and candies as her ever fattening heart desired. For two years she had enjoyed a number of feeding sessions and what did you know, it looked like another of her Betas was bringing her another haul of delights as she let the thoughts of the past two years fade from her mind.
“What do you bring me this time?” was all she asked, eyeing up the nervous looking beta who started to unpack the small bag he had with him onto the table he was standing by.
“A-a raid Didi! Cakes, cookies...your favourite!” was all he mumbled as he pulled out a rather delicious looking pie, placing it carefully on the table. Didi licked her lips, grinning and pushing her fattened frame forward to get a better look at the haul.
“And what poor soul had to part with such divine gifts to feed me today?” she asked. She was always a little curious where the Betas raided, lest they did something incredibly stupid and went into Canterlot to get to their bakeries.
“J-just one pony. Small! Only E-Earth pony! Travelled alone, y-yelled something about delivery to S-Sugar...sugar…” his voice trailed off, he was having trouble pronouncing the word.
“Sugar Cube Corner?” Didi asked.
“Yes!” was all the Beta replied. He had already picked up a cake, he knew what Didi wanted. The fat Diamond Dog lay back in her throne and opened her maw, quickly feeling and tasting the gooey goodness of the treat slide past her lips and down her throat. The Beta was preoccupied running back and forth between the table of food and Didi herself. Had barely had the chance to feed her one of the treats before Didi had devoured it. If he could have seen behind the throne, Didi’s tail was wagging in pleasure, sometime she always did when being fed or feeding herself. Satisfied, she took a moment to pause and offer him some advice.
“Is this your first team feeding your Alpha?” she asked.
“Y-Yes! Never had candy before…” he said, looking over the food at the table. Didi grinned.
“Tempting isn’t it. Try a piece.” she suggested. She watched as fear crossed his face, he knew her demands. She could tell he wasn’t sure if it was a test.
“B-But, Candy for Didi…” was all he squeaked out.
“Yes but, try some. I remember my first taste.” she said, watching as the young Beta took a very, very small piece of a cake. Still unsure if it was a test. She watched as he ate, likely too nervous to really enjoy it but as soon as he did she saw his expression become more relaxed and happy. He clearly liked it.
“T-Tasty.” he said.
“Indeed, now feed me the rest. As a reward you shall join me in my next feeding session. And pick up more treats to stuff me with, it will save you trips to the table.” she said, watching as the Beta piled an armful of treats into his hands. Didi continued to eat, devouring the pile in but a short ten minutes. The pup had provided a small haul, but it had been a few days since her last feeding session. She enjoyed it greatly, licking her lips with satisfaction as she ate the last cookie. Below her, her stomach pushed out more into the fabric of her tight jacket as it fought for space. It wasn’t having very much success.
“You see, I can be generous - but I’d hope stories of me treating my pack well haven’t been hidden. Bring me more candy and I shall reward you more young one.” she said with a confident grin.
“Y-Yes, more candy for Alpha! More!” the young Beta said in a rather excited tone before picking up the bag and vanishing from the hall. Didi relaxed, letting her full figure sink into the throne. She had to let her body settle after a feeding session no matter how light it was. She loved candy but it did make her feel full, always. It had been such a change in two years. She now firmly had the pack under her control with her diversionary tactic of sending them off to gather food for her and the rest of them. It had worked rather wonderfully too. She remembered as a child they were always struggling for scraps - the ceremony where she had taken over had been the most she had eaten in one night in her whole life. Now their stores were always full and every night the pack had more than enough food to never go to bed hungry. Didi herself often these days was so lazy she just slept on her throne, not having the energy to shift her bulk up from it to her quarters.
She mused at what other ways she could get them to bring in an even greater haul of food, sure they were doing well but they could always do better. Food stores could be wiped out by a number of things and ponies above ground always had more than enough food to feed themselves. Didi in her mind began to formulate a plan to make herself the greatest Alpha who had ever lead her pack and to make sure that the ones beneath her would make her the greatest too. A fed populace was a happy populace. There was also the thought that if none could even get close to challenging her that she could just remain in power and her heft would see to the fact she didn’t have to deal with that issue.
Blooorrrrpppp.
Her belly groaned beneath her, still having to digest the food she had eaten. The noise was a familiar one, one of the may noises her satisfied stomach made when it was content and full. The bigger she got however the more she felt that she needed to eat to maintain her size and satisfy it with food. What the Beta had brought her tonight would have been considered a huge meal two years ago, to her now, it was almost verging on a snack rather than being a meal for her.
Clearly Didi desired more candy. Raids on suppliers were somewhat satisfying this but she needed a more reliable source of getting the best goods quickly. The thought had crossed her mind to kidnap and enslave a pony who was skilled in the art of baking but judging stories from other packs who had previously captured ponies they often escaped or found some way of breaking free.
Diamond Dogs always had one thing though, diamonds. They were quite adept at mining them out and getting hold of them. She knew that ponies too liked diamonds, it was what had lead to the previous story she remembered about one being used to track them down for another pack. Not only did her pack have a large store of food but because they were raiding so much they found they were trading less of their diamonds for food these days beyond other supplies they needed with the other packs. She wondered, if she could just find a Beta who wasn’t so intimidating on the surface world could some sort of bargain be struck. Diamonds for food? It was an idea. Perhaps the young one from before might be up to the task. She certainly couldn’t just ask him to wander into a town but, some sort of proposal might be in order. The next time she saw him she would ask. She didn’t expect it to take very long, he seemed keen to bring back more treats for her for further rewards.
For now Didi settled in her throne. She had some thinking to do. Or at least she would have, if the settling and leaning her weight against it hadn’t been too much for the thing to handle. Didi completely underestimated her size and what it was capable of supporting. It seemed the small food binge had pushed her over the edge in size just enough.
CRUNCH!
Luckily she was alone, or the other Betas would have used it as an opportunity to show weakness in her despite it not being her fault. The enlarged Didi felt her rump slam down onto the floor, splinters of the remains of the throne flying up into the air comically around her as the wooden legs gave way. Her jello ass wobbled and rocked as it now became a cushion for her to the floor. When it was over, she spent a moment to collect herself and hauling her fattened body upwards, looking over the remains of her father’s throne with a raised eyebrow. She could explain it away easily how it got destroyed. A late night one on one brawl perhaps with another upstart Beta. No matter, something sturdier to support her girth would be in order tomorrow. For now, there was enough of it left she could comfortable for the night. The new throne would have to be a little less…constraining.

“G-Guh…”
Finally, that damned collar gave way. Didi had been hoping it would soon. For the past five years it had become more of a choker around her neck than anything. With it gone, she felt multiple rolls of neck fat cascade down her front and free themselves to a more comfortable position.
Didi’s rule had now been cemented in place beyond a shadow of a doubt. She was the largest Alpha by far of any of the packs, her plan to bring more food into her realm had succeeded far beyond what she had expected. That once timid Beta had now become her better half, having struck up a trade deal with the ponies that meant daily deliveries of treats to their caves was something she had come to expect. Like her the Beta had matured, he now insisted that any feeding sessions be done by him. He had even taken residence on Didi herself, having his own makeshift throne planet on her blubbery body. Didi had allowed it, but only because he had offered that his throne be a large plush pillow that felt rather wonderful against her body.
Didi herself was utterly massive. The new throne had disappeared somewhere under her absolutely monstrous ass, gigantic blubbery cheeks having nearly swallowed it completely behind her. If she wiggled her almost immobile frame she could still feel it pushing in-between it...somewhere.
Her stomach had become her bed, gigantic and massive rolls of fat pushed outwards covering a huge portion of the great hall. Betas who brought her food now had to climb somewhat up her rolls to deliver the goods which was a daily affair. That heart that covered her chest was now easily the size of a small room itself, having spread itself like her love for her size across her as she had grown. The only thing left on her that held anything back was that tattered old jacket, admittedly however only one button still held it together…
“Another delivery, shall I do the honours?” her Beta asked. Didi just nodded as he climbed down her rolls and fetched the offering from a much smaller beta. When he returned he held a number of cookies and cakes.
“You can do some of the honours.” she replied. “I am still capable of feeding myself.” Didi retorted. She took a few handfuls of the food from her Beta, greedily pushing it in her mouth as she left him with a few of the snacks to feed her with. She didn’t want to totally deprive him, plus she did like the attention.
“These ones look rather good today, open wide.” he said with a smile, as if he even had to ask.
Didi opened her waiting mouth, every bite of a treat was always heaven. Once again her tail began to wag, but in a much more reduced fashion as it was starting to get easily wedged between those monstrous ass cheeks. She had grown so much. She had no idea what she weighed but she knew that she had to keep gaining to show her dominance. The whole pack did almost nothing these days except bring her food. She had a daily delivery of treats now yes but she wanted multiple daily feedings at her size. She still had them scouring the lands for additional sources of candy which she could devour. It was never enough.
As her Beta fed her she felt her fat frame jiggling and wobbling in delight as more pounds were added to her bulging body. She was immobile but her limbs were still just about managing to stay afloat in a tide of fat that threatened to swallow them at any moment. Her belly was so large and bloated it could easily be divided into three distinct sections with the belly button you could probably now easily fit a fist into diving them all. Her rear though her become her throne, with an even larger proportion of the fat filling out into her cheeks. She wondered how long it would be before her ass wedged her totally in the cave.
“Mmmm, m-more.” was what Didi said as she felt her Beta oblige and her cheeks bulged out full of food. Didi just added to the mix and hauled her gigantic fat arms up greedily taking more food for herself and pushing it between her cheeks as well. Didi’s Beta knew when to really stuff her, Didi in her growing size had also grown in confidence. She no longer asked things of any of the other Diamond Dogs, she demanded. Her tone when being fed was certainly that. Her Beta dared not ponder his fate if he didn’t do exactly as Didi demanded of him. He remembered one time he had upset her and had been swallowed up by stomach fat for a day, the gigantic Alpha easily pushing him inside one of her many folds. He shuddered thinking about it, Didi could be her own personal torture device.
Another delivery came but Didi didn’t stop. There was something different about today, the Diamond Dog Alpha seemed intent on fattening herself up more than usual. Her Beta thought he could see what it was, her gigantic breasts, even larger than he was were straining against the remains of her jacket. He offered his services but was quickly rebuked.
“Shall I help?”
“No. More food.” was all she replied, the Beta obliging and finding more of the sweets to give his gigantic fat partner. With every mouthful Didi could feel she was getting closer and closer to her goal, her tail wagging behind her furiously with pleasure. With the fattening treats she was eating she could feel hundreds of pounds piling on and that jacket wasn’t going to hold out…
Ping!
The last button which had held out so valiantly came flying off and embedded itself in the ceiling of the cave which made Didi laugh heavily, bits of food spraying out her mouth as she did so. With her jacket now splayed open she felt her gigantic fat breasts almost tumble forward to take a resting position on her stomach. Good, it meant no longer she had any restrictions from clothes causing her great mass to be restrained. Immediately she pushed her arms down on top of them, taking advantage of her using them as hefty and soft armrests she could now push her weight against whereas she couldn’t before. Thinking, Didi knew she could have asked any of them to help get the jacket off to free her gigantic and wobbling breasts but there was no fun in that, she had wanted to destroy the clothes herself. A show of power to display she was still more than capable of doing things herself.
It had been the only downside really, she was the largest Alpha no doubt. In the last five years challenges to her rule had dwindled to practically nothing these days as the pack was more than satisfied with her rulings. The last ‘fight’ she supposed she had truly had was when one of the more aggressive upstart Betas had made an accusation that she was a poor ruler as if they were attacked she couldn’t defend herself. The fight had quickly been over when Didi had simply rolled over on top of him, crushing the Beta under her elephantine body. Battered and bruised he had crawled away making sure to come back next time with an extra large offering of candy. Didi swore she had gained a few hundred pounds at least from that victory.
Right now she was in her happy place, being fed by her partner as she felt her body swell and balloon in size, multiple fat rolls jiggling beneath her as she tried shifting her weight a little only to fail. It seemed she had lost that ability as well. Oh well, not that she needed to move these days really anyway. It had been years since she had left the room she was in. That was her other downfall - the size was key yes but Didi clearly had a sweet tooth. A number of times now she had found herself demanding more food than was available to feed her with and getting upset at her Betas that they couldn't provide. Her wrath must have put some sort of fear into them however, often the next day or even hours later they came up with more food from somewhere. She wondered if they kept secret stores of candy in reserve for that situation but quickly dismissed it, she knew she had instilled fear into them if they defied her.
Another Beta came to bring her more food before quickly vanishing, her own Beta taking it to feed her with. Didi had noticed something about him before he had gone, just about able to make him out above her bloated cheeks that fought with her vision.
“He was...large.” she said to her partner as he fed her yet another cookie.
“Mmmm. Well nothing compared to you Didi.” he replied.
“Keep an eye on him, if he’s sneaking food from my candy supply I want to know. I’ll crush him under my gut.” she growled, before settling back into her body to be fed more. Her Beta smiled at her.
“Of course Didi, anything for you - I’ll make sure an eye is kept on him at all times.” he said. Didi herself just kept eating. She wasn’t sure if she had preferred the jittery beta from three years ago or what he had become, he still had the same attitude towards as her he did back then, being in awe of her. His voice and mannerisms however were confident and he never stuttered anymore. She surmised it was a good thing however, being unable to do a lot of things herself she needed a confident one close by she could trust.
Eventually however the food stopped for the evening, all the deliveries having been made and dropped off. Didi herself relaxed, letting her stomach settle and digest.

It was always wonderful to feel how satisfied and full you were, but for Didi it was just as lovely to hear it. Those noises were proof she was rather than just relying on how she felt. It was a good day if her stomach sang noises of praises like that from her folds.
Her Beta climbed down her folds, making her jiggle as he did so. As per every night he left her he gave her a courteous bow and left her with the words he always did.
“Thank you for another bountiful day my dear, I look forward to making yours more so tomorrow.” he said with a smile, turning to leave to head to his bed. Didi was her own bed and she sunk herself into her morbidly obese frame to get comfortable for the evening.
When she had started this journey she had only ever imagined perhaps getting as large as father to show some force but clearly that had not been enough, even at her size she still faced challenges from upstarts. Her only choice was to keep growing, until she filled the hall and there was not even a chance of getting a challenge. Who could challenge her if they couldn’t even get into the room to fight?
But if he could see her now she knew she’d be unrecognisable to him. She had never thought Diamond Dogs were capable of growing to the size she was. Perhaps though they always were and the lack of food in previous years just meant none of them could. Father maybe had tried but perhaps he just hadn’t thought of a plan good enough to get them bringing him food like she had.
In any case Didi had further plans. She was sure more creatures than just ponies traded in diamonds. She was also sure it wasn’t just ponies who made delicious candies. There was a whole planet of sentient creatures over Equestria who lived above ground and likely had a need for diamonds and other precious gems her Betas could provide. Her next order if she could stomach a slight lapse in offerings would be to send more of her pack off to secure more trade deals. More trade deals meant more food, a more satisfied pack and a much larger Didi. She wondered if in another five years or less she could fill the gigantic hall with just herself. The table that her Beta had used all those years ago to bring her that offering was now just a distant reminder, or a rather close and obvious one if she shifted her belly slightly on the left side. Its crumpled remains were still wedged under her.
It had been quite a change for Didi, no longer that timid Diamond Dog from all those years ago who was afraid to take up the reigns of leading her pack. She had grown in confidence, power and most importantly size. Diamond Dogs who had never seen her from other packs had at least heard of her. Didi the Alpha, more whale than dog was one of the passing titles she had heard. She giggled slightly to herself. Whale would be a fitting descriptor but she was sure now she could even give some of them a run for their money at her mass. She wondered about the thought of children too, she had to continue her lineage somehow before she became far too massive for her Beta to even manage giving her some. Interesting thoughts crossed her mind of them using her gigantic stomach like a trampoline - it certainly had enough jiggle and bounce on it.
The next five years if she could push forward this deal looked very promising indeed. She wondered what they’d describe her as if she outgrew even a whale. That question would be answered when she grew more and Didi herself had absolutely no intention of stopping any time soon.
