Truly one of the most scientifically impressive parts of all of Equestria is the incredibly massive, royally-funded scientific institution that towers over a part of the capital city, Canterlot. Though not many know what's tested in there, anyone with a degree in science or even just a fascination with biology will tell you "I want to work there!"

Which is why when Needle Poke, a newer graduate student with no family ties or social life, is both surprised, suspicious, and incredibly excited when he is invited to start his career in this very institution. Little does he realize that there's more than a few reasons for his selection... and none of those reasons are very family-friendly.
