The Darkness of the Heart Chapter 1
"Rainbow." The voice taunted.
"Who's there?" Asked Rainbow Dash getting up on her hind hoofs and punching the air "I ain't scared of you. Show yourself!"
"We have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the best flyer in Equestria." The voice said.
"Who?" Asked Rainbow Dash.
"Why, you, of course!" Laughed the voice.
"Really?" Replied Rainbow Dash in suprise "I mean. Oh yeah, me! So, you wouldn't mind telling the wonderbolts that would ya? 'Cause I've been trying to get into that group for like... ever!"
"No, Rainbow Dash. We want you to join us!" The voice said as 3 pegasus dressed in black uniform trotted out of the mist "The shadow bolts!" Rainbow looked suprised. "We are the greatest aerial team in the everfree forest." The smallest one explained "And soon we will be the greatest in all Equestria. But first, we need a captain." Rainbow Dash smiled happily.
"The most magnificent." Said the pegasus flying around Rainbow Dash.
"Yep!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed.
"Swiftest." The pegasus continued.
"Yep!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed.
"And bravest flyer in all of Equestria." The pegasus continued again.
"Yes! It's all true!" Rainbow Dash told them.
"We need... you" The pegasus whispered.
"WOO HOO!" Shouted Rainbow Dash "SIGN ME UP!" "Just let me tie this bridge real quick." Said Rainbow rusing towards the rope.
"No!" Shouted the pegasus. Rainbow looked in suprise."It's them or us." Said the pegasus.
"Rainbow! What's taking so long!?" Shouted Twilight Sparkle from the other side of the bridge "Oh no. Rainbow!" But Rainbow Dash was too distracted. One of the pegasus looked at Twilight and the mist shrouded over. "Rainbow! Don't let them get to y--!" Twilight's voice was blocked by the mist.
"Well?" Asked the pegasus.
"You." Replied Rainbow simply. The pegasus smiled with glee. There was a glow and Rainbow was suddenly clothed in a shadowbolts uniform. The mist dispersed leaving the other five mares to watch in dismay as Rainbow Dash along with the shadowbolts took the skies in the blink of an eye.
"What're we gonna do now?" Asked Applejack looking glum "Now Equestria will be shrouded in eternal darkness forever!" Twilight turned round and started to walk back the way they had came.
"Wait." Said Fluttershy. Twilight turned round and Fluttershy flapped her wings.
"So how in Equestria are we going to find them!" Asked Rarity.
"I don't know but it's lucky Fluttershy thought of that idea quickly. If it wasn't for her Equestria would probably be doomed." Replied Twilight. Fluttershy blushed slightly.
"It was nothing, really." Said Fluttershy.
"Nonsense!" Exclaimed Applejacks as they ran "If you hadn't of flew over there and tied the rope who knows what would have happened!" It seemed like they had ran for miles, the black trees rushing past. They came to a halt at some in front of the shadowbolts and Rainbow Dash. They were the only obstacle between them and the Elements of Harmony.
"You have no hope." Rainbow Dash taunted, she had been taken over by the hidden darkness inside her heart.
"And what makes y' say that?" Asked Applejack going for her, but Twilight's hoof stopped her.
"Don't." She whispered "We go at them on my mark." The smallest of the shadowbolts laughed.
"Well, because we're in your way!" She laughed "Wow, you earth ponies really have no brains." That was the last straw for Twilight. You can make fun of her, but make fun of her friends and you've got a problem.
"Now!" She shouted and all five mares rushed at the shadowbolts. They were taken by suprise and ended up on the floor. They recovered quickly and threw the mares off. Fluttershy had taken refuge in a corner. She suddenly felt a shadow fall over her and looked up to see one of the shadowbolts standing over her smiling. She squeaked in fright as she was lifted of the ground and flung into a wall. The next thing the shadowbolt knew Pinkie Pie was on top of him.
"Get off me you stupid mare!" Suddenly the shadowbolt felt a hoof connect with his nose and he threw Pinkie off howling in pain. The next thing he knew the other shadow bolts including Rainbow Dash had been piled on top of him. The shadowbolts got up, recovered and flew out in panic.
"Yeah!" The mares shouted in unison. They went over to where the elements should be but they were gone.
"The shadowbolts." Said a familiar voice. The mares turned round to see Rainbow Dash standing there without the shadowbolts uniform. The mares looked angrily at her. "Look, the shadowbolts got me for a bit but I recovered. I realised what they were doing as soon as I found out they had stole the elements." Rainbow Dash explained. The mares didn't look so sure but they forgave her. "Now lets go save Equestria."

The 6 mares ran back through the dark forest.
"So where do you think the shadowbolts will have gone?" Asked Twilight.
"Probably back to Nightmare Moon..." Replied Rainbow Dash as they ran. So that's where the mares went. This was it. They were going to end this once and for all and nothing was going to stop them. They ran out into the open space outside of Fluttershy's hut.
"So where do we go now?" Asked Pinkie Pie looking around.
"This way!" Twilight replied running towards the moon.
"Are you sure Nightmare Moon will be here?" Asked Rainbow Dash.
"I'm certain. She would be as close to the moon as possible." Twilight explained. They were almost there. It was almost time. But first they needed the elements. They burst through the doors to see Nightmare Moon and the elements.
"Did you never once think that maybe I was the shadow bolts?" Asked Nightmare Moon "That I was tricking you just to get the elements? Well now it's over. Now you've lost." Nightmare Moon laughed at the mares defeated faces. Rainbow Dash was the first to recover.
"This isn't over yet!" She shot back at Nightmare Moon.
"What do you mean it isn't over yet?" Laughed Nightmare Moon
"Because we can still get the elements." Replied Rainbow Dash
"And how exactly are you goong to do that?" Asked Nightmare Moon
"Like this..." Replied Twilight as her horn glowed and the elements came to her.
"What? NO!" Screamed Nightmare Moon. Twilight pointed her horn at the elements and they glowed a bright white and they lifted off the ground. A sudden shock broke Twilight's concentration and the elements smashed on the ground.
"Try and stop me now." Laughed Nightmare Moon. Twilight had recovered from her shock and now had a determined look on her face.
"You can destroy the elements. But you can't destroy the spirits of them." Twilight said.
"And what is that supposed to mean." Asked Nightmare Moon.
"It means that we can still stop you." Twilight shot at Nightmare Moon "Applejack, who saved me from death is the element of honesty. Fluttershy who showed compassion towards a manticore represents kindness. Pinkie Pie who laughed in the face of fear represents laughter. Rarity who helped a sea serpent represents the element of generosity. Rainbow Dash who came back to us after being tricked by you represents the elment of loyalty." Nightmare Moon stared in confusion. Suddenly there was a glow and the elements dissapeared and reappeared as necklaces on all of the mares necks. Twilight, however, had a sort of tiara. Nightmare Moon suddenly looked scared. The elements started glowing as Twilight started concentrating all of her magic into this one thing. Suddenly a rainbow appeared and shot at Nightmare Moon.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Shouted Nightmare Moon as the rainbow slammed into her. She tried to fight it but she couldn't. There was a burst of white light and it was over. All that was left was a small dark blue mare.
