We Found Love

Applejack's POV

There has been a war going on for many years, over a decade. Each and every pony in Equestria had to join in and help somehow. Wether you're in the army or helping the army, there is no escape. Your only purpose is to help Equestria win. There is no fun, no parties and hanging with friends, nothing! The war is known as Big War Against King Sombra.

My name is Applejack. Applejack Apple. I work on my family's farm Sweet Apple Acress with my sister Apple Bloom, my brother Big Mac and my granny Smith. We produce apples, provide food for the army. Our land is exhausted and so are we but we aren't allowed to stop. No one is allowed to stop.

I hate this war! I hate the fact I can't have friends and have to work day and night to help some armies fight and kill each other! I would love to live a normal, happy life! The one without the war! If war never happened, I would probably be enjoying harvesting apples only during apple seasons, have fun with friends I would made and maybe if I'm even more lucky have a marefriend I would go on dates with! Now, I don't meet anyone new, I don't get to rest nor have fun!

But as everypony else, I have to accept my destiny, the purpose they decided for me and do that until war is finished. It doesn't seem war will soon be over. I can only hope for a miracle!

"Hey Applejack!" Apple Bloom called me. "This letter arrived from the battlefield!"

"Sweet Apple Accress," I've read out loud, "as your food delivery has declined and became less frequent, we are sending few generals to inspect why this problem has been happening."

"WHAT?!" I was furious! "How the hay do they expect us to always send them huge supplies of food?! We sent them almost everything we had!!"

"Who knows what they will do!" Apple Bloom was scared.

"Don't worry. They'll see we sent almost everything so they won't be able to complain or do anything." I reassured her.

Only a day later 3 generals came to inspect the problem. That was too many ponies if you ask me. Only 2 generals actually came to the orchard while I was explaining everything to them. Their names were general Spitfire and general Fleetfoot I believe.

"And that is UNACCEPTABLE!" Spitfire yelled! "We need food to battle! How in the Equestria do you exepct us to win in this battle if we don't have food?!"

"We are really trying our best," I was already scared of what may happen, "the land can't take it any more."

"Can't, can't take it anymore?" Spitfire wasn't nice at all, "Do you maybe want eternal darkness to come? Or do you maybe work for King Sombra? Do we need to take you to question you in the worst ways we have?"

"Hey! Leave the girl alone! Let her be!" beautiful rainbow-haired girl with one metal wing and one real one came.

"Rainbow Dash, we have to make them produce more food, otherwise we'll starve!" Spitfire yelled.

"And how in Equestria can she possibly produce more food?!" Rainbow yelled back. "She is doing everything she can! It's not her fault trees don't grow faster!"

There was silence for few moments, I was in shock.

"Then we'll make the trees grow faster!" Spitfire decided. "Let's find that Zecora, Fleetfoot!"

Spitfire and Fleetfoot left.

"Thank you, general Rainbow Dash!" I turned to her after those two left.

"Don't be silly! Just call me Rainbow!"

"Alright, Rainbow!"

"What's your name?"

"Applejack."

"Well hello there Applejack! Hard job you're doing here!" she noticed the orchard's state.

"I believe yours is harder anyway."

"Maybe I do battle at front but all jobs are hard! And I am really thankful for each and every person helping us. Even tho, it would be great if this stupid war never happened in the first place."

"You know, I agree with you on that!"

"Ah, so many ponies lost, others' lives ruined."

"Lives we could spent having fun, making friends..."

"Following our dreams, dating..." she continued.

"Yeah..." I said distantly, thinking about how wonderful that would be.

"I'm glad someone who understands finally wants to speak about that. In the army it's forbidden to say such things. I don't even know why I told you this."

"Eh, it's not like I'll tell anyone so don't worry, your secret is safe with me."

"Thanks, AJ!" she smiled. "Can I call you AJ?"

"Sure and it's nothing really." I smiled back. "Honestly it's wonderful finally meeting someone both new and nice. It's been a while since that last happened."

"Ugh yeah, I feel the same way! This war is so unfair! All wars are..."

"Yep!"

There was comfortable silence for few minutes. I never knew just being with someone not even talking can feel so nice.

"Hey Rainbow?"

"Yes Applejack?"

"Do you maybe have time to go for a walk? Only if you have time, of course! I just really haven't spoke to any other pony but my close family for last 5 years...."

"Okay first of all, of course! I have time and would love to! Second of all, FIVE YEARS?!! FIVE YEARS?!"

"Yeah..." I was slightly embarrassed.

"I am so sorry that happened."

"You dont have to apologize, you have nothing to be sorry for. Shall we go to the lake? It's one of the rare places that are still beautiful!"

"Sure! I would love to!"

And we left for a walk.

Few hours of walking and talking later.

"You were right, AJ! This place really is so beautiful! I didn't get a chance to leave battlefield for years!"

"I'm glad you like it and that you finally got to get outside a bit."

"Not for long, sadly. I get to be here only for few days."

"Well, I could show you other few places in The Everfree Forest that I think you'll like?"

"That would be awesome!"

And we both continued to talk. We spent a whole day together. I don't think I have ever felt so happy to talk to someone. It was really a strange feeling. It felt like her smile alone gives me butterflies and makes me more red than fresh picked apple. I wonder if she noticed.
