It was a dark and stormy night. Canterlot city was covered with rain as the night was at it’s peak. In the castle, a little filly was sleeping restlessly, squirming in her small bed.

BOOM

Firebird gave a small yelp as she sat up bolt right in her bed. She looked around nervously, her eyes drifting outside as she slowly realized it had been the thunder that had awoken her. Frightened, she whispered softly, “F-F-Flamy?”

BOOM

Pop

Teleporting into the throne room, Fire looked around, terrified at her dark surroundings. The guards were on the other side of the door, and they were far to big to open on her own. She slowly stuttered, “M-Mummy? D-D-Daddy?”

BOOM

She screamed, and raced off, not even thinking about were she was going, only thinking of getting away from the scary booming. Firebird continued to scream and flailing her hooves wildly as a tail picked her up from the ground.

Realizing her hooves were no longer on the ground, she opened an eye and spotted the snake-like tail wrapped around her. A voice then spoke.

“Well, isn’t this an adorable scene. Shouldn’t you be in bed, young mare?”

Firebird looked up and her eyes shrunk in fear upon seeing the creature before her. Bat and pegasus wings, horns like she’d never seen, huge tooth, multicolored body...

Without warning, she screamed in alarm, causing the creature to yelp and cover his ears, nearly dropping her. While it only lasted a moment, Discord felt as if his eardrums were about to explode.

“Hey, come on what gives?”

He was a bit surprised when the filly whimpered, wings flaring out and practically covering her whole body and shaking in terror, crying. Guards burst in, having heard the scream, but some nearly face hoofed when realizing it was the ‘Lord of Chaos’ himself. Pansy Glow came in after them, rubbing her tired eyes. She had a light greenish-yellow coat with magenta eyes, and a dark pink curly mane with several light pink stripes.

She yawned, and said, “Dis... Discord? Wha... what’s happening?”

“Pansy! What are you doing up?”

“I could ask you the same thing... wait, who’s this?”

“Oh, just the little princess out of bed. No biggie. Although I swear, my ears were about to explode!”

Pansy took one look at the shaking filly and gasped. “Discord! What did you do?!”

He held his claw and paw up in defense and said, “I didn’t do anything! I swear! She just looked at me and screamed!”

Pansy flew up and gently took the filly from him. “Discord, this is Sunset’s daughter! She’s four, and would have never seen a creature like you! Just look at her, she’s terrified! Oh, it’s okay, Firebird, calm down, you’re safe...”

Firebird looked up at the kind mare through her tears and snuggled closer to her, slowly relaxing.

“Honey, it must be the storm. Don’t you remember how scared Topsy used to be?”

“Well, yes, I do, but why is she down here?” He took her in his paw, looking closer at her, noting that she was less frightened, but still a bit. “Hmm... must be the magic. Alicorns can be like that, after a-“

BOOM

Fire gave another scream and clung to Discord’s neck, shaking and sobbing. He was rather surprised, but gently stroked her, like he did whenever little Topsy was scared of anything.

Sunset came running in, saying, “Pansy?! Discord?! Where’s Firebird?!”

Discord waved his claw dismissively, “Oh, relax, Shimmer. She’s right here. You might want to cure that... storm-ophobia... of hers, though.”

Sunset nodded to the guards, who took their leave, before Discord handed the filly to her. She sighed, “Thanks, you two, when I realized she was gone... well, i’m just glad that she’s okay.”

“Well, she was screaming an awful lot. Nearly had my ears exploding!”

“Like that can happen to you...”

“Well, just be glad that I found her, safe and sound.”

Pansy stated meekly, “Um, well, she was terrified of you to begin with...”

Firebird looked up to see her mother, the kind mare and the weird creature talking together. He didn’t seem so bad, now...

Discord spotted the filly staring at him curiously. He smiled, and said, “Well, I suppose that ought to wrap up this meeting. I hope to see you again soon, Sunrise Shimmer-“

“SunSET!”

“Yes, yes, whatever. And I know, i’ll be seeing you again soon, little missy!”, he finished, booping Fire on the nose before teleporting himself and Pansy away.

Sunset chuckled, “Welp, that’s Discord for you. Come on Phoeny, let’s get you into bed.”

They are my own characters, and when I was coming up with the names, they were the only ones I could think of. I’m sure there are alot more original names out there, but those are the ones i’m sticking with.
