Lance's life was a primarily a happy one growing up. That is, until the red dawn of the first war in Equestria for over 1000 years, as well as, the most bloody war Equestria might ever face loomed menacingly on the horizon. Lance is forged into a fierce warrior backing troops up with sniper bullets to cave in Zebra heads as they crawl over bloody, barbwire-laden trenches. He'd climbed his way to become the dedicated field mechanic of the Shadowbolt elite strike team facing Dragons under the leadership of General of the Air forces, Rainbow Dash. How much will his fiery spirit burn before it's extinguished?

Gale Blizzard, on the other hoof, is a Canterlot born graduate of Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns with a talent for cryomancy. In the face of the bitter, gritty and cruel reality of war he becomes a conscientious objector, yet joins the war effort regardless as a medic, eventually serving under Fluttershy in the Ministry of Peace after the events following the Littlehorn Massacre. Gale strives to aid Fluttershy's efforts to save lives and end the war peacefully. He loses his vision and a leg in the process on her behalf. How much can he take, body and soul, before his resolve shatters in a war with no end in sight?
