//-------------------------------------------------------// Day Live... Day Die -by Goodness- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// A shitty start (Chapter 1) //-------------------------------------------------------// A shitty start (Chapter 1) "You caught my eye, but it turns out you're another worthless bitch..." The women takes two steps back. "What's wrong with you..?" she asks him, not even trying to hide the confusion and disgust in her voice. "D-Don't make me call for help!" she spoke louder. But it didn't matter... not to the guy she was facing. "Ugh, shut up, shut up, shut up." Adachi grumbles loudly. Then his expression shifts into a wide cocky grin. "I think you need to see what it's like to fear for your life... it'll get your head straight. " Adachi takes two steps forward, causing the women to take another two steps back... merely inches away from TV. "Wh-What're you going to do...!?" Adachi answers by pushing the women into the TV. She struggles, holding on the edges of the screen. But quickly lets go after half of her body being submerged into the screen. The rest of her follows and Adachi backs up in complete bliss. “Sh-She fell in...” “Ha... hahaha.... wow... So people can go completely inside...” Adachi smiles, gazing at the screen. “Now this is something you don’t see every day...” Adachi freezes at the sound of another voice. He quickly turns around, ready to throw another person in the TV if he had to. But what he stares at... A tall white looking horse. Though it definitely wasn’t a normal horse. It had a horn on its head and wings... honestly what the hell was this thing? Instead of hair, fire was coming out of its head and even more behind it. Its eyes glowing with an orange hue surrounded by darkness. It's attire looked to be orange armor, taking up more then half its body. The only noticeable thing Adachi could make of it was... the symbol of a sun on the front of the chest piece. “Just what the hell are you?” Adachi asks as he keep staring at the creature. “Oh. So you can see me.... and here I thought my efforts weren't necessary.” The detective's anger spikes. Already this thing was getting on his nerves... The horse continues on, not even letting him get a word in. “To answer your simpleton question... I am Queen Daybreaker. Ruler and the only Alicorn in all of the existence of Equestria!” She spoke, grinning ear to ear at him with her razor-sharp teeth. Adachi grins back, not letting this thing of an animal think it has the upper hand. Even though he didn’t understand half of what it said. “Wow... aren't you full of yourself?” Adachi mocks. “Now what’s a little horse like yourself doing all the way out here?” Daybreaker’s faces turn sour, her eyes glimmering with anger. She wasn't finding his comments amusing in the slightest. “First off, creature. My species are called ponies. Calling me a 'horse' is greatly insulting. I would turn you into smithereens for those insults alone. Though I shall refrain, as I can see you are an imbecile." Adachi growls at Daybreaker's words. "Calling me an imbecile, now? I'd say your nothing more then just an afterthought. " He smiles at his own comment, hoping that this thing would piss off. "Despite all of that..." She sneers, ignoring Adachi's comment. "I believe we can make something work.” “Oh really now? 'Make something work’ huh? How could a thing like yourself help little old me?” Adachi gives a half hearten grin, he didn't think this pony in front of him worth his effort. “I've seen your... fatal intentions. The one you pushed inside that portal. I assume they cannot escape and shall perish.” Daybreaker pauses for a moment, thinking. “I assume you are the only one who can hear and see me. Considering I have ran into others like yourself since I have awakened here. It will get quite boring if I wander this place with nopony to speak too. So I shall stay with you for the time being. Whenever you like it or not.” The man could barley believe what he was hearing. “Hahaha... seriously...? When did I get assigned to take care of a pet?" That hit a nerve. Daybreaker's horn sparks to life, glowing a red hue. Her hair burns hotter behind her as a raging fire forms on top her horn. She lets it go, aiming at the ground below. Adachi moves out of the way in time, but a burnt spot now occupies the carpet. Adachi stares wide-eyed as he looks back at Daybreaker. 'Holy shit!' Adachi thought. "I will not miss next time. I do not mind having you suffer second-degree burns if it means you will learn your lesson on insulting me." Daybreaker's head rose high, glaring at Adachi, looking ready to fight if necessary. "Okay! Okay! You made your point!" The man panics as he looks back and forth between the burnt spot on the carpet and Daybreaker. The sound of footsteps above made the both of them look up and pause. "Shit... Someone else is up? I need to go before I'm found out." Adachi spoke, panicking. "I'm not going to be able to explain this burnt spot.“ He quickly bolts out of the living room area and back into the hallway next door. He found his room and opens the door, shutting it from behind. He backs away... part of him hopes that the thing will disappear and it was all his- "You cannot get rid of that easily." Daybreaker spoke as she walks through the solid mass of the door. "If you want to continue your intentions, it would be best we work together." The detective turns to Daybreaker, fuming with anger. "I didn't agree to any of this shit. Why would I even want to work with a prissy horse like you?" "Like I have spoken before. You don't have a choice... I can react to this physical plane and I can just easily get you into trouble as much as helping you. " Daybreaker grins as Adachi realizes his situation. "So what shall it be?" Adachi groans. "Fine! But don't get full of yourself now... I doubt you have the power I have." He sits down on the bed and continues. "It won't be easy for you to have your entertainment if I get arrested... so just sit back like the good little pony you are and let the adult handle it." The queen bursts out laughing. "You? Ha! What I saw back there was foals play! I can easily get rid of ten of your creatures without breaking a sweat. I don't have to demonstrate my power now, do I?" Daybreaker asks, her horn lighting up again with that red hue. Adachi looks back worryingly. Though he refuses to let the threat get the better of him. "Then I guess a compromise is in order." He said as he grabs his bag, pulling out cloths. He looks back over his shoulder at Daybreaker. "We'll see how you hold up. " "What are you doing?" Daybreaker asks and Adachi turns around, shrugging his shoulders as he walks backwards. "What does it look like? A man needs his beauty sleep. You can't expect a guy like me to run a full 9 hour shift without getting his rest " He finishes and goes to the small bathroom, closing the door on Daybreaker. The alicorn just rolls her eyes in response. There isn't anymore conversation between the two until the detective walks out of the bathroom a few minutes later... wearing a pair of black pajamas. He closes the bathroom door behind him and runs a hand through his hair. Daybreaker raises an eyebrow at him. "What? You can't expect me to wear the same cloths to bed." Daybreaker still doesn't react. "What happened to that cocky attitude you had a few minutes ago? Your not getting cold feet on me now, are ya?" Adachi mocks. "No. And the correct term is cold hooves, cretin. I simply do not care about your proceedings enough to comment on them. It would be a waste of breath otherwise." Adachi glares at the hot-headed horse, tempted to tell her off. Though instead he walks away and sets to his alarm clock on the side of the floor, right next to his blue sleeping bag. "Goodnight, pony." Adachi answers as he gets into the sleeping bag. "I'll deal with you later... Have fun sleeping on the floor." -*-*-*- Date of Time: 3/1/2011 (10 days before protagonist's arrival) Weather: Rainy / Cloudy -*-*-*- Adachi wakes up with a groan, hearing the alarm clock in the distance. He doesn't open his eyes and considers going back to sleep. That is until... he repeatedly gets hit in the face by a cold metal-shaped hoof. "Stop doing that!" He exclaims as he covers his face. Daybreaker sneers. "I highly suggest you get up creature... before I blast that infuriating contraption that is called an alarm clock!" "Do it yourself then! If you know what's it called, I'm sure you know how to turn it off!" Adachi grumbles. Daybreaker glares down at him. "And encourage your lazy behavior? Absolutely not. If you wish to work with me, you must wake up at my time. Unlike you, I am use to waking up before my own subjects rise for my beautiful day." "I'm not your subject or a horse, why should I be treated any differently? " He comments, finally opening his eyes and turning off the alarm clock beside him. "And... are you on a cloud?" Adachi stares, wondering if he was still dreaming. "And you expect me to sleep on the floor?" Daybreaker answers him, moving her hoof away and flying off the cloud. Her horns lights up and in a flash the cloud disappears. "Your even more foolish then I thought." "I don't even want to know," he sighs. "Just... don't wake me up like that again." Adachi rolls out of the sleeping bag, asking himself a question. "Where's stupid coffee when you need it?" Adachi spends his time getting ready for the day, as the alicorn waits for him on the other side of the room. Everything is normal. Or as normal as it can get for these two. “Oh crap!” Adachi exclaims. “Dojima-san is going to kill me!” "What are you blabbering about now?" Daybreaker asks, clearly loathing Adachi's antics. "I was suppose to give him those papers on the case!" He scrambles to his bag. "But I don't have time! Not if I don't want to be late for work!" "Then what is more important, cretin? Those papers or being on work on time? What will this Dojima-san be troubled with the most?" Adachi turns away from his bag, looking at Daybreaker. "Those damn papers. It's about the stupid case I'm working on too." "Then go to the location of the papers and explain why your late. You spoke of how you are new on this... police force. Surely they will be more lenient?" Daybreaker grins, her voice sounding more like a devil on your shoulder. "You can use that to your advantage." Adachi grumbles in response. "Not that new." He comments and continues rummaging through his backpack. "I joined the police force about a week ago. This town's bite is far worse then it's bark. I mean c'mon! They don't even let you get away with the simplest things." "Town... you say? So we are not in the main source of political power?" Daybreaker wonders, putting a hoof on her chin. Adachi scoffs. "Not even close! This town is in the lowest of low's when it comes to the police force. It's honestly a joke." "Then why are you here, wasting your time?" Daybreaker questions, taking a glance at Adachi. To her surprise, he doesn't say anything for a moment. "I didn't have a choice." The detective angrily said, zipping up his backpack and walking to out the door. Daybreaker only raises an eyebrow at this new information, but doesn't press further on the subject. Adachi leaves the inn with Daybreaker. She continues phasing through the front entrance doors and acts like that it isn't crazy. Which earns Adachi a look. "Quit staring creature. I have already done this many times before and even in front of you. I don't know why you are even giving me such a look." Adachi scoffs and looks away. "Shut up and just get in the car. I don't have all day." That order made it sound much simpler then what it actually was. Making Adachi frustratingly explain to Daybreaker about why she can't sit in the driver's side. And even more as Adachi got into the car, explaining what a car is and what it does. "This car you speak of... it reminds me of my chariot. How does it run without pegasi?" Daybreaker asks as she rose her head, looking at the front review mirror. Causing Adachi to shove Daybreaker's muzzle down so he could see. He's generally surprised that he could even do it, but he's already stopped questioning this ghost shit a long time ago. Instead he just leans his elbow on the car door and turns the key. The engine starts and Daybreaker huffs through her nostrils, glaring at Adachi. "Do not do that again or I will have your head!" Daybreaker threatens as she leans into his personal space. Adachi just rolls his eyes, waving her away with his hand. "Look. I'll answer your dumb questions later. I'm already late as it is... I don't need to crash my car too." Adachi grumbles and sighs. "This day hasn't even started and it's already full of shit. " He duly adds, putting his car out of park. The nosy pony doesn’t say anything else as the both of them ride towards his house. Adachi was trying his best to drive but he kept glancing at Daybreaker. Hell, the realization that she's actually real was now hitting him. She was looking at the world like a brand new puppy. Watching cars past by and all that shit. Adachi rolls his eyes again. It reminds him to much of when he was younger. When he didn't know any better and got kicked in the ass because of it. He was disgusted that he had to work with this thing. Why couldn't he just be left alone like he always has been? Why does life have to be such a pain in the ass? //-------------------------------------------------------// Detective Work (Chapter 2) //-------------------------------------------------------// Detective Work (Chapter 2) With a slam of the car door, the 27 year-old detective sighs... knowing he'd have to take an umbrella with him. He risks a glance at Daybreaker, who was currently fazing through the car door. ...He's got better things to worry about then the logic of how a horse can faze through solid mass. "C'mon. We don't have all day." The queen doesn't answer, only so much as giving him a glare. She focus her attention elsewhere, by looking up at the building... though a better name would be a run down apartment. "This is your area of rest? My, didn't know other sapient creatures fell this low." Adachi sighs, as he slides his hands on his face in a exhausted manner. "Can't you say anything else then trying to insult me? Look, if your going to tag along with me. You going to have to get use to my lifestyle." Despite the harshness in Adachi's tone, the queen only smirks. “Only you could call this a lifestyle." Now it was his turn to glare. "Shut up. I already get enough shit from my boss. I don't need you hassling me too. " That comment only causes the alicorn to snicker while leading the way to the building. Adachi could already tell this was going to be a long day. Police Prescient 7:30 AM With a fresh cup of coffee in his hands, the man awkwardly continues walking. The liquid sloshing inside the cup as he hurrying along the hallway. If he could just get- "ADACHI!" God dammit... he was so close too. The detective jogs even faster as he reaches the door and into the main work area. Inside, many people were shuffling at their desks doing whatever was needed to be done. Paperwork, obviously. With so much of it around, it's hard to believe that any of it gets done. Though Adachi just believes their all lazy asses. You really don't understand real paperwork until you get to the city. He could spot his partner sitting on a roll chair, a paper in his hand. As Adachi walks closer, the man looks up... and for once the silence is deafening. "Yes... sir?" Adachi nervously broke the silence, even though he knows what's coming. "WHAT THE HELL, ADACHI?!" "Sir, there is no need to shout-" Dojima slams his hand on the desk, the paper taking the hit. "I already discussed this, Adachi. I don't want to see you leave that desk ONCE until you complete all your paperwork!" "Y-yes sir." Adachi sputters as he hands the man his coffee. Though internally he was screaming at his damn luck. With a sigh, the misfortune man sits down, watching his boss leave out the same door with the cup of coffee in his hand. Out of the corner of his eye, he spots Daybreaker smirking at him. He ignores her, cursing and allows himself to drown in paperwork. And instantly he regrets it. As the paperwork was about the location that he had yet to memorize. Where was a TV when he needed it? 9:30 PM House of Adachi Toru "Really?" Adachi sarcastically asks. But not really paying attention, as he bills he needs to pay. "Oh, don't mistaken me for actually caring, mortal. I am simply wondering when I can get my entertainment back. " Adachi shifts his eyes to Daybreaker, who was currently on a cloud... again. He could feel her judgmental gaze, so much so that it enough for him to sit up from his bed and glare at the horse. "And why exactly should I care about what you think?" Adachi continues on, nearly snarling. "So far this agreement of ours hasn't exactly been great. All you've done is complain since you got here! I can't exactly do the things you do. I need to plan my time accordingly. The game is no fun otherwise!" "The stunt you pulled yesterday was planned?" Daybreaker asks in a accusing tone, scoffing. The man ignores her, continuing his rant. "If you want your own entertainment, it's real easy... all you have to do is get out of this shithole that is called a town! And go back to whatever hell you came from! If you got here on your own, then I'm sure you can leave just as much!" "Hold your tongue!" Despite the surprise interruption, Adachi recovers from the wind blowing shout and only gives the alicorn a look. "Do you think such worldly travel is easy?" Daybreaker shakes her head, not waiting for an answer. "Then you are even a greater fool then I thought." She stands up on the cloud, nearly hitting the ceiling with her horn alone. With the height difference, it forces Adachi to have to look up even higher, killing his neck in the process. "This situation for was accounted for, yes. But I was not guaranteed of where I would end up. " "Then why the hell would you do it in the first place?" Adachi grumbles. "To me, that sounds like a death trap waiting for someone as stupid as you to go through with it." "Do not think so poorly of me. At the very least my plan was more accounted for then yours... I may have not seen how the situation began. But I know very well that you acted on a whim as soon as she dumped you. " Daybreaker leans back towards Adachi, their faces merely a few inches away from each other. Though Daybreaker still towers above him in height, giving off a full on toothy grin. "Am I wrong?" Adachi swallows his hatred. Even with his anger, he was smart enough to know that If he did something stupid and punched the horse... he'd end up as a burning crisp. So instead the man shifts his legs to the floor, getting off the bed and walking away to the left. "Where are you going?" Daybreaker asks as her eyes follow his movements. Adachi immediately calls back. "A drink! I deserve one for putting up this other worldly bullshit." A sound of the door slamming quickly follows. The alicorn only rolls her eyes at the man's stupidity. But a toothy grin quickly follows on her muzzle. For her, everything was going according to plan.
