Welcome back, Canterlot ~ I.
It was early evening. The sun was going down and the citizens of Canterlot hurrying home from the city – it was a perfectly normal day, really. Everyone was doing their job.
That was, right until a mysterious mare appeared at the gates of the city. She had a cape all over her body, only her strange-looking head could be seen. What was so weird about her? The mare had one torn ear right behind her angular horn – it had a much bigger arc then any normal would have. From her mouth, two long fangs hung out, brushing the dark blue cheek.
It already attracted many, either curious or terryfied looks from the normal citizens. Some of them just hurried away while the others kept their eyes on her and whispered worried and disgusted comments to each other.
Little did they know that she had much other secrets. Like the bat wings under the black cape and the fact that she was a living blood-sucker, a monster, a real vampire and the misbegotten child of the younger royal princess, Luna.
Who was she?
Well, she was me. Roseline, the mongrel born on the cold surface of the Moon. I had never known my father or any other ponies except my mother, Princess Luna. Probably due to the fact that she was violently forced to carry out me from a rude and violent vampire. Still, as long as I was with my mother, she always told me that she loved me like the daughter she always wanted. I also felt that with the kindness she gave me on the lone Moon: she taught me how to fly in zero gravity and how to use my magic. She also told me what being a vampire meant – and trust me, I didn't believe my ears when she mentioned blood. Ugh, gross! I may look strange but I'll never, ever drink blood.
We lived in peace and harmony, already had gotten used to the cold, rigid place. However, some light-headed idiots took her away from me when I was around 14. I cried out aloud after her as the bright lightbeam of magic carried her away. My heart was literally torn into small, miserable pieces and my hope was faded away. I didn't want to live on the entire Moon alone, neither wanted mom to force me to. I could see the sorrow in her eyes as the cruel muttonheads took her away.
Her last words gave me the hope every day to fight against loneliness and learn, learn and learn. It took me 7 years to learn the technique of sending myself back to the so-called Equestria where my mother was dragged to.
And here I was. Standing on the cobblestone-street of Canterlot, facing other ponies who had already deemed me as a mongrel. They didn't say it out loud but I could see it in their look and heard from the whispers. Too bad for them, I had pretty good hearing.
You may think I was scared what they will say. However, living out in the literal space taught me to be stiff and don't care about the critics. So with no same at all, I began wandering around the streets, looking for mom's home, the castle. On my way, I did take a careful look at my surroundings. The houses were attached to each other right by the side and they were pretty tall. As it was beginning to darken and the Moon was coming up, the folks hurried back to their houses and closed the door behind them. The owners of the shops also began to close and return to their homes. In the darkness, thanks to my sharp, vampire senses, I could also take a good look at the beautifully cut hedges and perfectly trimmed grass with the astonishing fountains. They made my jaw fell down, my fangs brushed my lips. So amazing to finally be here! To breath normal air, to feel the various scents of the flowers, to hear my hoofs cling against the cobble.
It was unbelievable to finally be the part of the society, even if no one knows who the heck I could be.
I found the castle in no time, fortunately with no intruders at all. I stopped in the gates to take a careful look and aimed at the main entrance of the castle. It was grandiose, just like mother told me. Fountains and hedges in punctual angle with wide and long staircase leading to the huge entrance door. They were made of pure white marble which shone in the dim moonlight beautifully.
It was there. She was there. My mother and my deserved home where I should have lived all along. It made my heart race with the wind and automatically made my bat wings stretch out in excitement. I wanted so badly to just fly in and search her by myself! Still, I knew, I had to pass some bulky guards before – but I couldn't not throw away the black cape. I hid too long at a place where no one could have stomached a single day. I wanted to show out myself.
I sighed in and began walking with straightened back to the stairs. With my blue gaze I eyed the guards at the door, keeping my full focus on them. I was ready to explain myself. I practiced it multiple times.
But I didn't focus too carefully on my surroundings. Probably that gave an easy task to a muscular pony to force down to the floor. After eyeing the guards at the entrance, my next memory was I lying on pebbles beneath my back and a stallion above my head. He was a stallion, his strong wings stretching out behind him. He had caramel eyes, mocca colored coat and white mane and tail with thick, black mops in it. On one of his forelegs, he had a white patch at his hoof.
"Who are you?" the guard inquired with frigid, serious tone. He eyed me with narrowed eyes.
"Someone you wouldn't like to push against the ground" I hissed back, showing out my fangs at him.
His eyes widened, just like as I had predicted. His expression showed fear, even if he tried to hide it. I could feel it.
And that's what I used out. I pushed him away with my vampire strength, he fell to the ground with a loud bang. I dashed at him with the speed of the quickest wind and spiked him aainst the pebbles. Poor him, he couldn't see in the dark that had surrounded us during, not like me. I may be a mongrel but you know what they say. If God takes something from you, he'll give back something else instead.
The stallion wiggled and snorted into my cheek with anger as I held him. "Let me go, monster! You don't know who I am?"
"A whining guard, obviously" I replied simply, grinning at him. "And you know who I am?"
"I am a prince, mongrel!" the stallion wiggled, not caring with my question.
Interesting. Either my brother or cousin.
He continued as I didn't speak. "I am the adopted son of Your Highness, Princess Celestia herself, Prince Thunderstorm! You better let me go if you don't want to end up in a cell, batpony"
Batpony? Funny... and so primitive.
I laughed up like I had just heard a good pun. I must show my cuz he highly misunderstood my being.
I held him even tighter and slowly leaned downer to his ear. My fangs brushed his furry, gentle ear, making him shiver. "Oh, Princling! You don't even have the slightest idea who I can be"
"A freak of nature" he grumbled and took a swing. I let him pin me back to the ground to make my entry even more effective.
I looked deeply into his caramel eyes when blurting out the statement, smiling wickedly. "No, cousin. I am the forgotten daughter of Princess Luna, your aunt"
Like I had predicted again, he almost collapsed. Again.
And this made a pleased grin creep up to my mouth.

Author's Note
Well, how did you like the first chaper?
It's a foretaste of an upcoming story of mine from the near future. At the minute I'm working on another, bigger project on Wattpad, so don't expect more chapters until I finish that – however, when it's finished, I'd like to continue Roseline's story. Just be patient, everypony!
