Teddy Ruxpin was flying the Airship into a land that he never saw before. What he saw made his heart leap. Everywhere he looked he saw ponies. Some with wings some with horns some that have none and some that have both.
A yellow Pegasus pony with a long pink mane and tail and three butterflies for a cutie mark was the first to see him.
“Oh my goodness! I never saw a bear like you before! You’re so cute!”
“Why thank you.”
“Oh my. You talk. I didn’t know bears can talk. This is so incredible. I really don’t know what to say.”
“Well it would be nice if you show me around.”
“Ok. What’s your name?”
“I’m Teddy Ruxpin.”
“Hi Teddy I’m Fluttershy. Wow a talking bear. And what do bears talk about?”
“Well what do you want to know?”
“Absolutely everything!”
“Well it all started in my homeland of Ralonia when I found an old treasure map.”
Teddy told all about his adventures. Fluttershy listening intently. Her eyes were wide with wonder.
“And now I’m here. What do you call this place.”
“This is Ponyville in the magical land of Equestria.”
Five other ponies came up to the two friends.
“Hi. I’m Twilight. And this is Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity.”
“I’m Teddy Ruxpin.”
“Well howdy do partner. A pleasure making your acquaintance.”
“Alright a talking bear.”
“A welcome to Ponyville party!”
“Oh darling where did you get these drab old clothes?! It simply won’t do.”
“You really mustn’t...”
“Nonsense! A bear like you needs a proper ensemble.”
“But...”
“Not another word. I won’t take no for answer.”
“Well thank you for generous offer.”
“I never saw a bear like you before and I know everypony in Ponyville! We’ll have balloons and piñatas and super mega delicious cake!”
“But Pinkie...”
“It’ll be my honor to throw you a welcome party for you.”
“The thing is...”
“You’ll be staying with us.”
“No...”
“Yeah you’ll settle down here in a house far away from everypony you love and they’ll miss you something awful and they would probably be wondering where you are and have a search party looking for you and they’ll only find a cloth and presume you dead!”
Teddy eyes began to fill with tears and he ran away.
Fluttershy flew after him. The others stared at Pinkie.
“What? Too much?”
Fluttershy searched everywhere she can think of just like every time one of her animals goes missing.
She searched the town square. She looked in the hedge maze center. She even looked in her cottage.
The others looked everywhere else. Even Pinkie looked in places the others can’t reach.
When they got back together. The news was the same. Nopony saw any sign of Teddy Ruxpin anywhere. Except for one place.
“The Everfree Forest.”
“Ok let’s go.”
“Wait. I think I should go in. Alone.”
“Why Fluttershy?”
“Because I was the first one who saw him in the Airship. Besides helping poor creatures is my special talent.”
“She’s right y’all. None of us understand animals like her. Besides it’s best he don’t see you Pinkie.”
“Aww why not?”
“Because you’re the one who made him run away in the first place!”
“I didn’t mean to!”
“Enough!”
Fluttershy mustered up her courage and went in the forest. As she got closer into the dark she heard a quiet sound. Yet it was still loud enough for her ears to pick up. It sounded like singing. But she couldn’t make out the words. She had to fly overhead and search for anyone with a beautiful singing voice.
As she got closer Fluttershy could make out the words now.
My home is where my heart lies
I don’t want to forget or try
The moon sings a lonesome lullaby
I wish I could fly
My love is my home
No matter where I roam
Only my home
And me
It was Teddy Ruxpin.
Fluttershy felt tears in her eyes.
Teddy heard the soft sounds of sobbing. He turned around.
“Fluttershy!”
“Oh Teddy. I didn’t know you can sing like that.”
“I love to sing. It’s to show how I feel. I love to sing lullabies too.”
“So do I.”
Fluttershy and Teddy began to sing and dance. After they were done Fluttershy gave Teddy a hug and he hugged her back.
“Why did you run away?”
“Well because I don’t want to be faraway from home. I’d miss my friends. And my family.”
“You have friends and a family?”
“Yes. Grubby, Newton Gimmick, my beautiful wife Anita, and my twin daughters Leota and Ilana. And we have another on the way.”
“That’s so sweet.”
“I’m just passing through. I was looking for more places to see. Not to live here. Or have a welcome party and new clothes. But I didn’t want to hurt Rarity’s feelings.”
“I understand. It’s really hard to speak up when something bothers you. I’ve been like that my whole life. I was very shy and a very weak flyer. Then I found my special talent with animals when my cutie mark appeared. And then I met my friends and became the hero of Equestria you see today.”
“I was like you once. But I always had this desire to go on an adventure. To Grundo. I never knew what new and wonderful things I would see. I saw so many things. I saved a princess found six crystals and found my father. Then I got married and had two beautiful daughters. And now we’re having another.”
Fluttershy and Teddy came out of the Everfree Forest. The others were so happy.
“Thank goodness you’re alright!”
“I’m sorry for making fun of your outfit darling.”
“And I’m super duper really truly sorry for saying all those things.”
“Can you ever forgive us?”
“Of course I can.”
The Mane Six saw that Teddy Ruxpin was as good as his word. Fluttershy explained about why he took the Airship to Equestria. The next day he set for home. Everypony giving him a heartfelt goodbye.
