Chapter 3. Comfortable Silence but Awkward Dark

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

"Beautiful? That's a hoot, gosh such a charmer", she says though broken chuckles. Her laugh was like music to his ears, he is honestly speechless, he doesn't quite know what else to say... So they just sit there in a comfortable silence and watch the other ponies. She seems perfectly content with the silence, this makes her even more appealing to Dark.

"You two just gonna sit there and do nothing?", a voice piped up from right behind Dark, making him jump. It was the blond pony from before... he scoots away from her. "Awe scared of little old me? I thought the prince of dark-", just then she was interrupted with a hoof covering her muzzle.

"That's quite enough.", a mare with a similar colored coat and eyes lazily said. She has blotches of white on her coat and her hair is a short mess of lavender locks. Her tone and looks are very different of that to her sister, she seems rather laid back then her.. sister? and she seems more his type of pony.

"Ugh, your a party pooper", the blond pony removes her hoof from her muzzle and sighs, "Fine, fine have it your way, I won't pick on the new guy". She then trots off into the group of people, no where to be seen and dear Celestia is Dark relieved.

"Sorry bout that, she is a bit of.. well a spaze", the new pony pulls her self up a seat to the table and plops her self in it. "That was my sister, Cotton Candy, I'm Powdered Sugar.", she leans her chair back on two legs and balances. Dark keeps himself from not pushing her back... his very tempted too, it would be hilarious.

"Its.. uh fine I guess", he says flatly, a bit disappointed that Ve and him aren't alone anymore. He will deal. He shouldn't be getting close to her anyway, his just here on nothing more then a business trip really. Yeah... just.. business, not looking into other ponies lives or trying to get involved in relationships... He shouldn't have even came anyways, this party is more trouble then its worth. Its not like anyone really probably cares to talk to him anyway, they probably all came because of Plasm and free food. Its only natural really, people simply don't care if your suspected to be evil. He doesn't blame them too much for it.

"Oh it really isn't, she just can't read body language when it comes to ponies and when she starts talking, she hardly ever stops.", Powdered sighs in exasperation.

"Yeah, we're all use to it by now here, sorry Dark, I shoulda warned ya" Ve said with a slightly sorry tone. She runs her hoof though her hair and her wings flap slightly. "Maybe it wasn't the.. the best choice to start you off with a big party if ya ain't comfortable with the ponies yet.", she rests her muzzle in her hooves and her eyes settle on Dark.

"Ah, don't worry about me, I'm just happy you all did something for me.", he lies though his teeth. He really isn't happy. He doesn't want to be stuck in this stupid party with these stupid ponies, there are only two ponies he can stand in this entire town probably. Plasm and Ve.

"Next time we'll do somethin' better, that your more comfortable with.", she smiles at him, "We just didn't know exactly what ya'd be like so we couldn't count for everythin' sadly."

"Of course, I'm glad you would still like to do something with me.", he nervously says, no one has really ever wanted to hang out with him, much less a pretty girl.

"Duh I do! How about we meet up tomorrow at sunset? At Apple Acres?", she asks happily. Was it going to be just the two of them or was she inviting more ponies? Is he reading her signals wrong? Hell does he even know what a signal is?

"S-sure, I'd be delighted to come along", he slightly stutters out. His really doing it, his going to hang out with a pony, and not just any pony, the most beautiful pony his ever seen... what if once their alone together and she sees the real him? What if she doesn't like it? No, no, his not here to be a beacon of friendship and love. He doesn't need to care what she thinks... yet he does, he desperately wants to gain her approval... but how does he do it is the real question?

"Perfect! I can't wait", she claps her hooves together excitedly and her wings flap happily as she jumps to her hooves. "Well I have to go plan, I'll have to catch you later Dark", she waves to him then she galops off out the door and takes off towards Apple Acres.

"Fucking nice man", Powdered chuckles, "Totally not awkward at all...". She practically snorts this, obviously she finds this immensely funny.

"... What?", he slowly turns his head to her, his also starting to not like this pie twin too much...

"Nothing, its just the fact that you are so good with the ladies, I'm practically floored.", she gives him a wide grin... it seems as if shes trying to press on his buttons...

"Hmph…", he simply stands with that comment and starts to walk out himself, he can hear Powder laughing as he leaves... This is one reason why he despises ponies...

He walks back to Twilight's castle in the dead of night, the slight breeze running though his coat makes him feel cool. The moon is perfectly lighting the town to make it look... almost bearable. He soon gets to the castle doors and silently slips in, hoping not to be noticed by Twilight or her guard dog, Spike. Luckily for him the castle is pitch black, no lighting from the moon entering though curtains. He can easily make his way up to his room without being noticed, so that's exactly what he does....

He gets about half way up the stairs when he hears a small voice "W-who's there!", she sounds utterly frightened at the figure standing before her, he looks back at the bottom of the steps and sees a small brown filly with tanish and pink colored short hair.
