Luminescence (Working Title)

Darkness blanketed Equestria as the moon loomed above. The cloudless summer night was calm, but the serenity was shattered by a scream.

High in the towers of the castle was a figured shrouded in darkness, frantically searching for the light. Catching her breath with sweat upon her brow, she whispered to herself.

“No, it cannot be…”

Princess Celestia illuminated her chambers with her magic. In the glow of light, her eyes darted across her bedroom as she rose from her bed. Shaking, and sweat beading on her brow she looked to her chamber doors.

Princess Luna entered the chamber, distraught as her sister. Her mane billowed with the stars of the night that she lavished in. The same frantic look was in her eyes.

“The vision,” Luna began, her lips seemed to tremble.

“Yes” Celestia nodded, her breath was caught in her throat. The darkness…

Its presence overwhelmed her, her heart raced, memories in a flurry of years past.  It has returned…

Solemnly she stood, eyes locked with Luna’s. “You know what we must do, sister.”

Luna swallowed hard wanting to deny what she had seen, but the grave look in her sister’s lavender eyes told her it was the undeniable truth.

The dark one had returned.
