A teenaged male sighed heavily as he pulled his machete out of a monsters corpse. He wore all purple clothing and his hair was spiked and colored green. For, about a week him and his father; along with his cousin had been finding and killing monster like that. The monsters were not that difficult to kill. They were slow with their attacks and movements; and their skin was soft and squishy. It looked like they were made out of black mold. Hence the name the Molded. The only ones that did pose a threat; were the ones that were on four legs, had claws on both arms, and the fat ones that sprayed acid. The other main threat in their home was the alligators. For, all three of them lived deep in the bayous of Louisiana. Dulvey, Louisiana to be precise with their location. The males' name was Spike, Spike Baker.
Spike jumped when he felt the familiar vibration of his cellphone. Immediately, he pulled it from his pants pocket and answered it, “Hello?” He said.
“Spike, it's your father. Find Zoe and get on back home. It's getting dark and the gators like hunting at this time.” The voice of his Father spoke.
Spike nodded his head, “On it Da. We be there soon. See ya later.” He replied before hanging up his phone and walking down a path he had made.
Spike eventually reached The Jon boat he and his cousin used. He quickly started the motor and began driving towards the part of the swamp he dropped her off at. His father wasn't kidding when he said it was getting dark. The sun was setting rather quickly that day. Meaning it would be dark before he got to her. He scanned the area around him as he drove through the waterways. Keeping his eyes open for any sign of movement along the shoreline. More than a few times had he been knocked out of his boat; tonight, thought, he was in no mood for it. It was bad enough dealing with the molded; it was worse when they dealt with the swamps other mutated animals. Whatever made the Molded what they were. It was affecting their home; turning some of the wildlife into bloodthirsty killers. Hell, yesterday his father had a run in with a mutated boar. The thing had let out a shriek so loud. One would think it was the screech of the damned. He shook his head and focused on the path ahead of him. Just beyond a wall of trees he saw a small orb of light shoot up. Only to get brighter and hover in the sky for a little while. It was one of Zoe's flares. She was letting him know to hurry up.
Eventually, Spike reached the area where the flare was shot. Waiting for him on the shore was his cousin Zoe. He smiled up at her as he stopped the boat close; allowing her to climb aboard. She shot him a glare. It caused him to shoot her a smug smile.
“Hey cousin.” He greeted her.
“You're late,” She replied as he began to drive them home, “I only had two more clips left.” She finished.
Spike watched as she pulled out her pistol. It was called the “Albert-01” a gun made to deal with the molded. Although it was a prototype; it still helped them clear out some of the monsters in the bayou. Although he liked the gun; he preferred getting up close and personal with the monsters. Just like his father. Who could put a hole inside a monsters head with his bare hands. They may have been outnumbered three against an unknown number. But, they held their own and stayed together. Just like any family would. After all; they were all what was left of the Baker family.
Eventually the two arrived at a small dock. Zoe walked off as Spike tossed her a rope. And the two tied the boat to the dock. They then walked up to a small cabin. Which all three of them had built about a month ago. When the last one had been burnt down by Jack. But, that was a story for another time. Zoe opened the door and Spike walked in behind her. The Father/Uncle was sitting right in front of a large fire he had made in a fire place. He had a large black cauldron pot hanging above the flame.
“What ya makin tonight, Da?” Spike asked.
His father, Joe Baker, turned to look at him, “Some of my homemade swamp gumbo,” Joe answered as he looked towards his son. Who handed him his satchel. He opened it and smiled at what he saw inside. He reached in and pulled out six very big and very fat grub worms. He didn't waste any time putting them into the soup.
After a little while he had finished cooking the gumbo and the three sat down and dug in. It was very delicious and hot; both heat and temperature wise. He went the extra mile and squeezed some lemon and grapefruit juice into the soup. Giving it a little bit of a sweet after taste. As the three ate Joe looked up at the two and cleared his throat.
“So,” He began as the two looked at him, “How many did you both get?” He asked as he reached down and picked up a small journal. He placed it on the table and opened it to the middle of the book.
Spike swallowed another spoonful of gumbo before he answered, “I got ten molded, two of them being double claws, and one of them being a fat one.” He finished before he continued eating.
Zoe then answered, “I get ten also four of them were normal. Five of them were claws. And, I got a gator also.” She finished causing her uncle to look at her.
“A gator? Normally they stay away from that area of the swamp.” Joe spoke as he wrote down the total number of molded the two got, “Wonder why it was there?” He asked.
Zoe chuckled, “I wondered also; but, I also wondered what the Albert could do to it,” She then smirked wickedly, “Who knew it could take a gators head clean off.” She finished while the other two shook their heads and laughed.
As they laughed Joe looked at the two and smiled. All three of them had been through so much this year. Zoe had lost her mother, father, and brother. While him and Spike had lost three very loved and very missed family members. But, the two were thankful for being able to save Zoe. Joe then focused his attention on his son. Although the boy was adopted; he still loved him all the same. He started to remember the first time he had found Spike. How he found the poor child alone in the swamp.
(Flashback eight years ago)
Joe smiled happily as he picked up three large grubs he had found underneath a rotting log. He put them inside his bag and walked on. He eventually reached his Jon boat and drove to a few lines he had baited. He reached the first one and saw nothing had taken it. When he put fresh bait on the first one; he moved to check the second one. On the second one he got a good sized gator; which also put up a really good fight. Like the first one the third and fourth one had nothing. Meaning he had to put some fresh bait on the two. On his fifth one he got another gator. He now had two good sized gators in his boat.
“Gonna be eatin good tonight.” He said as he put fresh bait on the hook.
As he baited the hook he caught sight of something resting on the shoreline. He got a better look at it and gasped. There on the bank in front of him lay a small child. A boy in soaked clothing and wet green hair. He sighed as he moved his boat closer to the child.
“Such a shame,” He sighed as he gently picked up the young child's body. A small groan then came from the child, “You're alive!?” He said in shock.
He quickly set the child down into his boat and got moving. He started driving his boat to his brothers house. Knowing that his brothers wife would be able to help. It took him about thirty minutes to reach his brothers home. He quickly tied his boat to the dock and picked up the child. He heard the child groan a little.
“It's okay youngin,” He said calmly as he walked onto the deck and began to walk towards the house, “I'm about to get ya some help.” He finished as he walked through the boat house.
He eventually reached his brothers backyard; he saw in the middle of it was a camping trailer. He internally laughed at the memories he had of him and his brother; back when they were both younger. He quickly made his way to the back door; he had to use his foot to knock on the door. Thankfully, the door swung open when his foot hit it. Inside he saw his brother sitting at a table. Arm wrestling with his youngest, Lucas. Jack looked up at his home's intruder.
“Joe?” Jack asked as he looked at his brother. But, his eyes caught sight of the child in his arms, “What the hell?” He said while getting up from where he sat.
“Jack, where's Marguerite?” Joe asked.
“She's in the kitchen right now,” Jack answered as he ran to the door, “Get him upstairs to our room.” He finished as he made his way to the kitchen. While his brother quickly made his way up stairs. His young nephew right behind him. When he reached the door Lucas opened it. He quickly got inside the room . Gently he lay the child onto the bed.
“Is he okay, Uncle Joe?” Lucas asked with some concern in his voice.
Joe could only shake his head, “I don't know,” He replied as he heard footsteps walking up the stairs, “I hope he is.” He finished just as his brothers wife and oldest daughter entered the room.
“Oh, my god!” Marguerite shouted as she quickly got to the child's side. While Zoe got her little brother out of the room, “Joe, what happened?” She asked as she checked the young boy over.
“I just found him in the swamp.” Joe answered.
“You just found him?” Marguerite asked in complete disbelief. While Joe shook his head; she then pointed towards her closet, “There's a first aid kit in the closet. Can you get it for me, please, Joe.” She said.
Joe quickly made his way to the closet and opened it. He quickly turned the light on and walked inside. It didn't take him long to find the kit. He walked back and handed her the kit. Before he walked out of the room; that way she could work in peace.
An hour had gone by until she had walked out of the room. She had a small smile on her face. The child was going to be okay. He was just exhausted and needed time to rest up. He would later learn that the child's name was Spike. He couldn't remember anything else. Where he came from. Who his parents were. The poor child couldn't even remember his name for a minute. Later on in the week they went into town. They asked the local police if they had reports of a missing child from the other parish's'. no reports were filed. A few weeks later Joe adopted him and has raised Spike like his own since.
(Present)
After dinner the three had turned in for the night. Each of them telling the other to have a good nights rest. Before they went into their rooms and fell asleep. As Spike slept he began to toss and turn. He was having another dream. He heard voices; voices that sounded familiar to him. Like he had heard them before. He felt warm sensations move through his body. Like someone or something was showing him affection, love. He felt sadness; the feeling of being unwanted. He then felt fear and then something wet.
“Ugh, what?” He questioned as he slowly woke from his slumber; only to see a four legged molded standing over him, “What the hell!” He screamed as it released a loud shriek. He quickly knocked it off and pulled out his machete. As the monster jumped at him; he ducked down and swung his weapon. Taking its head clean off.
Spike panted heavily as he watched the creatures body melt into the floor. Leaving behind its black mold. He jumped as he heard the loud bang of Zoe's gun. Followed by the shock wave of his fathers gauntlets. Quickly, he made his way to his bedroom door. He opened the door; only to come face to face with a clawed molded. It roared at him; but he shoved it back and got a hard slash on it. Taking its clawed arm off. It roared at him again before he kicked it down. He then walked up and stomped on its head hard.
“Spike!” His cousin yelled as she turned down the hall; pistol in hand, “Cousin, you okay?” She asked.
He nodded, “Yeah, what's going on?” He asked.
By then his father came running around the corner. A long wire stretched behind him; both of them didn't need to be told what was going to happen. All three of them slowly made their way through the cabin. Joe, laying the wire down with every stepped. The moment all of them walked out; they were met with massive numbers of molded. Spike and Zoe cleared the way for Joe; while he continued laying the wire. When they reached the Jon boat; Joe had hooked the wire up to a small detonation device. With a flick of a switch; the three watched as their cabin erupted in a massive explosion. Scattering many pieces of wood and molded all through the bayou. They watched as what was left of their home burned.
Joe released a sigh as he sat down in the boat. The two sat down shortly after he did; he then started the boat and they began driving off to the next location. All three of them looked at each other. As they moved to their next location. Each of them nodded silently to one another; as Joe drove through the swamp. Eventually the reached another cabin they had built. One by one they got off the boat. Zoe and Spike tied it to the dock. While Joe walked up to the cabin and got a generator going. Turning on all the surrounding lights; allowing all of them to see clearly.
They saw about three molded walking around stupidly; Spike and Zoe made quick work of them. Once the molded were taken care of all three met inside the cabin. The cabin was no different from the last one. But, this one had a laptop sitting on the table. Joe quickly walked up to it and turned it on. A symbol appeared on the computers screen followed by the word “Umbrella” a few seconds later a video link was connected. Allowing them to see the familiar face of someone who helped them long ago.
“This is Redfield,” The man said as he looked at the three, “Report Bakers.” He finished.
As Joe spoke with the man. Spike and Zoe had walked off to their rooms. The rooms were identical to the ones they left and destroyed. Spike walked up to his bed; while placing his machete down next to his bed. Zoe hid her gun underneath her pillow. The two layed down on their beds and went to sleep. While Joe was finishing up his video chat.
“I see,” The man known as Redfield responded, “I'll send you some supplies in the morning. For, now all of you get some sleep.” He finished before ending the transmission.
“Yeah, and screw you too.” Joe said back before closing the laptop and walking off to his room.
When he reached his room he removed his gauntlet and sat down on his bed. He placed his weapon on his night stand and sighed. Why was this happening to his family? What did he and his brother do to earn such a curse? Why was half of his family dead? So many questions and so little answers. He sighed in anger before he layed himself down. But, the moment his head hit the pillow; he heard the familiar roar of a fat molded. He didn't waste no time getting his weapon back on and walking out. Allowing him to see said molded slowly walking towards his cabin.
“Y'all still pissed off?” He asked just as Spike and Zoe stood beside him.
“Oh, you know it, Dad.” Spike replied as he held up his machete.
“I think I'm going to use this instead,” Zoe answered before she aimed a grenade launcher at the thing, “No worries its the rounds that stuns them.” She finished before firing said round; striking the fat molded in the face. It stumbled backwards and fell on its back.
All three of them began to walk forward. The molded had gotten to its knees; it tried to spew some vomit. But, Zoe had shot it once again with a haze round. While stunned Spike ran up and sliced both of its arms off. It roared in pain. Joe then grabbed the back of its head with his free hand. While his gloved hand hovered just in front of its ugly face. He then balled his hand into a fist.
“Charging.” The gauntlet's computerized voice said as it shook and glowed brighter. When it reached full glow, “Charge complete.” Joe punched the creature sending its head flying back into the waters of the swamp. Its body twitched and shook on the ground. Before it finally became still and simply melted into the ground.
All three of them stood their calmly; each of them looking at the ground where the molded had dissolved. The swamp was silent for a moment; until all three of them took in a deep breath and shouted all at once.
“Who else wants some!” Their voices echoed loudly through the swamp.

This is a story I have been wondering if I should post. now I am wondering if I should continue this one or the other which is a Flutterdashcord. Yeah, really trying something new here. so yeah can all of you please tell me which one you would all like for me to continue to write. this one or We don't want to lose you. please leave a like and comment.
