Previous ChapterHere we are! Rising to the stars!
"Huuhh...?" Adagio cracked an eye open before recognizing her ringtone. "Oh, yeah...charging..." Letting out a yawn, she sat up and grabbed her phone. "Hello?"
"Dage, where the HELL are you!?"
"Aria?"
"We finally made it to this damn town, but that's beside the point! You! Where!? We been worried sick! And why the hell haven't you been answering!?"
"I couldn't afford a motel room for the three of us, so I couldn't find a place to charge it."
"Then how..."
"Managed to bump into an old friend who was willing to let me stay over."
"what are you talking about? We've never even been to this place before!"
"Whazzit...?" Adagio looked over to see Spike pushing himself up. "Whodere?"
"Who's that?" Aria asked. "Thought I heard someone in the background."
"I Heard it too!" Another voice spoke up.
"Sonata?"
"I got it on speaker, now make with the explaining!"
"That Aria..?" He asked, coming to. "Kinda sounds like her."
"ho the heck IS that!?" Aria demanded. "How'd they know my name!? ...and why does it sound familiar??"
Adagio laughed. "Yeah, I didn't recognize him at first either. He's grown up a bit since he used to give Sonata piggy back rides..."
There was a sudden, loud 'squee' . "SPIKE!?"
"Heh. Hey, Sonata." He said. "You two finally got here?"
"Yeah...wait a sec." Aria cut in. "Adagio sounded like she just woke up. And so do you..."
"Um..."
"...I'M GONNA KILL HER!" The yell was so loud Adagio almost fumbled the phone.
"The heck!?"
"We had an agreement, Dazzle!" Aria growled. "If any -"
"Chill, Blaze! It's Spike. Need I remind you-" Adagio started.
"Not on speaker you don't!" Aria cut her off.
"Ok, ok. Look, let's meet up, then we can hash all this out. Where are the two of you?"
"We're right outside of the house."
""Doesn't look that bad in the morning." Sonata added.
Hearing that, Adagio made her way to the window and opened it. Sure enough, both of them were standing there on the sidewalk.
"Uh, Adagio..." Spike tried to say.
"I see you." She said, smirking a bit. "Turn left and look up."
"Hi, Adagio!" Sonata chirped.
"Fine...and we're already know you're an exhibitionist." Aria muttered. "Put something on!"
"Wait, how come you're there...and Spike's there with you?" Sonata looked confused.
"He moved in recently."
"Exhib...then what about the mall...?" Spiked asked.
"It's fun when I plan to do it. The mall was definitely not."
"Mall??" Aria tilted her head.
"I'll explain in person; now get in here!"
It took a minute for Spike to find his pants, but he was soon unlocking the door. "Hey, g-"
"SPIIIIKE!" Sonata squealed, taking him off his feet with a flying glomp.
Meanwhile, Adagio filled Aria in on what happened at the mall. "So, I was wandering around what this place tries to pass for a shopping center while waiting on you to get here...and my dress snagged. Next thing I know, I'm bare-ass naked on the third floor. Thought I was going to have to stealth my way out when a jacket landed on me."
"That's why I wear shorts." Aria smirked. "Can't see the goodies unless I WANT you to see them." She took a look around. "Kinda surprised his folks would be ok with you staying here. His mom always thought we were a bad influence on him."
"Well..."
"A time share...?" Aira face-palmed. "They up and ditched him for one of the crappiest vacation scams out there!?"
"And they didn't bother telling him!" Sonata said, having convinced Spike to let her ride piggyback. "That's just rude!"
"Not surprised with those two." Aria signed. "Anyway, since we're all here, we better start looking for a hotel to stay at."
"Well, you can stay here if you want." Spike said. "Plenty of room, and if they ever do call, knowing I have you three staying will annoy the hell out of them."
"That's nice, but the only bed was barely big enough for the two of us." Adagio replied.
"There's like two or three guest rooms here. Shouldn't take long for me to unpack one."
"I'll help" Aria said.
An hour later...
"Sheesh, Mom said she stopped collecting these things..." He muttered, walking down the hall to find place to stash another box of knickknacks...
Then stopped. He'd just passed his room, but something out of the corner of his eye. He backed up to his door, stared, then looked around to be sure the stuff in said room indicated it was his.
Instead of his old single, there was now a...what was the size called? Either way it was big enough to comfortably hold half a dozen people.
"Hm?" Aria stopped beside him and looked to see what had his attention. "Oh, heh." She startled him with a hip bump and smirked.
"How...when...??" He blinked in abject confusion.
"Guys! Guys!" Adagio shouted. "Sonata, she saw something!"
"Really!?" Aria yelled, grabbing Spike's hand and dragging him along.
When they got back, Adagio was hugging a freaked out Sonata. "What was it?" Aria asked.
"Th-the kitchen!" Sonata pointed. "It was b-barely visible, but I saw it! It looked kind of human, but there was blood dripping from its mouth!"
"Wha?" Spike followed her finger..."Really...?" He muttered under his breath...
"Um...hehe?" Wallflower smiled sheepishly, a slice of leftover pizza in each hand and sauce covering her mouth.
"....EEEWWWW!" Adagio yelped.
"B-b-blood!?" Aria went white as a sheet. "Get the sage, the holy water, SOMETHING!" She cried, hiding behind Spike. "That's NEVER A good sign!"
Spike just gave Wallflower a flat stare.
"Eh...heh, whoops?" She mouthed, before taking another quick bite of pizza.
"How am I gonna explain this one?"
