Desert Sunset is, and always will be, a farmer. After his father died a few years back, he has taken over his father's farm, and is working non-stop to support himself and his mother. However, this has caused him to be a bit…. nervous, when it comes to dealing with girls. So what will happen when he finds somepony he likes a lot?

This is my first fic. Hope you like it.

Farming is Hard, Girls are Harder

It's still early morning, but the sound of metal hitting the ground could clearly be heard. Desert always likes to start his work early. "Start early, end early" as his father used to say.It's always the same routine every morning. Get up at three in the morning, work until six, then eat breakfast. After that, he'll go to Ponyville to browse some wares, then do the occasional visit to his cousin, Sunny Crackle. But today is different. Just yesterday, he saw that the carrots he planted are at their optimal size. The cabbages were ready, and so were the potatoes. He had to wake up earlier than usual to be able to harvest all the crops.

Desert stopped for awhile to wipe the sweat building up in his brow. He planted the shovel and leaned on it, as he watched the sun rise over the horizon. He always loved this part of the morning. Bright orange, fighting for control against the dark blue sky. Oh this was beautiful. Then suddenly, a peculiar smell hit him. The smell of onions and broth. He packed up his equipment, and pulled his cart full of produce towards his house. A nice big bowl of onion soup was waiting for him there.
