Pipe Valve strapped the harness around his waist, in his magical grasp picked up a flashlight, and made his way to the closest manhole. His higher ups informed him of a pipe failure in the sewers, and thus it falled upon him to fix it. He lifted the manhole up and slowly desended the ladder into the darkness of the sewers. It smelled awful and the humidity felt like slime. He shined his flashlight down both ends of the sewer, and blackness slowly swallowed the beam of light.
"Hey!" Valve shined the light up at the voice and saw one of his fellow coworkers making their way down.
"They hell are you doing, Wrench?" Pixel Light, or as everypony called him, Wrench, was the pest exterminator, he knew these tunnels like the rats that called them home.
"You'd get lost down here, and I figured you'd want some company," Valve sighed and proceeded to walk towards where he was told was the ruptured pipe. The two walked in silence for a while, the sound of waste water filling the silence. The slight sound of tiny feet hitting the cold contrete echoed through the sewer. "I fucking hate rats, nasty vermin."
"They aren't that bad, they're actually useful when the eat bugs and shit, but less so when the eat away at wires," the flashlight shined over the ruptured pipe, as no water rushed out, making this easy. The flashlight was pointed towards the hole, as Valve grabbed some metal shavings, perfect for mending holes about two inches wide. Valve got closer to the hole as he stared at the edges, trying to figure out the depth of the metal.
"This wasn't ruptured, it looks chewed through," Valve told Wrench as Valve set to sodering the metal together, the hissing of melting metal barely covering a faint sound, causing Valve to stop. "The hell is that?"
"The hell is wha-" Wrench was blown forward the same pipe behind him burst outward, rupturing along the side as hundreds of black rats poured from withen. The rats quikly divereted their attention to Wrench, but Wrench quickly backed away as Valve pointed the flashloght at the moving carpet of black rats. Their red eyes like the eyes of the devil. "W-We need to get out of here."
Valve nodded his head as the two set off at full speed, towards the next manhole cover. Valve looked behind him and saw Wrench get overrun by hundreds of thousand of rats, as the ate him, Wrench screaming for help. Rats piled over Wrench and kept chasing Valve, as rats ate into Wrench's internal organs. Valve had to fight the urge to puke, for fear of behind the next rats meal.
The beam of light of Valve's flashlight shone over the ladder that signed Valves escape, but the flashlight's beam slowly faded as the weak batteries died. Valve felt tears rush down his face as he ran blindly towards where the ladder was. He wrapped one hoof around a rung of the ladder, and started climbing up. He reached up to move the manhole cover, only feeling solid concrete. Valve pushed and hit the roof as he heard the rats beneath him.
Valve sat within the tiny inlet of the sewer, thousands of rats beneath him, squeaking and pattering waiting for their meal.
Valve felt around the tight cubicle and felt a small gape a hoof tall, and a furry touch on his leg, he looked into the gap and stared into the eyes of many rats, their red eyes glowing with hunger. The rats swarmed him, the weight knocking him from his ladder as he fell into the op3n mouth of thousands of rats, tearing at his skin, ripping into his stomach and sides as he felt them burrow into his ears and eyes. Valve was silenced as when he tried to scream rats filled his throat bursting his neck and chest, his death being quick, but not painless.
I sighed as I scrubbed the counter of the Sugarcube Corner, the lights of the bakery diner illuminating the room dimly as I watched a waitress clean off a table, and a waited mop the floor. The Sugarcube Corner came under new management after the Cakes moved out of town, to some rural town in the far north. Pinkamena Diane Pie became the new owner, being one of the Cakes favorite workers.
"Hey, Ice, did you take the trash out yet?" I put the rag down and turned around to see Pinkie, her apron covered in icing and batter. I was dead on my hooves, but her smile is contagious. I shook my head and held up one hoof. "Okay, thank you, Ice."
I smiled and turned back around to finish cleaning the counter, before I'd take out the trash, which wasn't really that bad, as it allways smelled good, thrown out sweets and leftovers. I smiled as the last stain rubbed off the counter, so I threw my rag into the sink and wwnt to take out the trash. I grabbed the trashbag and threw it onto my back, readjusting the weight as I walked to not fall over. The back door pushed open with a simple shove as I walked forward.
I tossed the trash into the dumpster behind the bakery before sighing, shaking off the extra weight as I breathed in. The air in Ponyville was beautiful, always smelling of flowers, sugar, and apples. The sun was reaching the horizon as Celestia get tired, and got ready to hand the reigns of time to her sister. My thoughts were jerked away as I heard a high pitch scream peirce the calm air. I rushes back into the diner, as I saw a humorous sight. The waiter stood on a chair, pointing at a rat that stared at him, the waitress was laughing as Pinkie sat and watched.
"I-Ice, help me please, t-the thing fucking bit me, get it out of hear or something," the waited panicly begged for help. I rolled my eyes and went to grab a broom. "W-What are you doing, don't leave me, please!"
I shook my head and walked back towards the rat sweeping it slowly towards the front door. It didn't react like most rats, as it stared back at me. I kept sweeping, poking it slightly, causing the rat to jump up the broom handle. I jumped back in surprise as the rat sat at the top of the broom. I slowly made my around to the other end of the broom and quickly picked it up and brought it outside.
"Alright, well, thank you, Ice, guess I'll have to buy some rat catchers though," Pinkie rubbed her head as she sat back into her chair. I rubbed her shoulder before I left for my house, the design was more of a duplex, and the other half was unowned. I lived not far from the bakery, for conveance and time. I walked up the front steps of my house and pushed the door to my duplex open. I yawned before collapsing into my bed and falling asleep, unaware of the rat that watched from the floor.
