I huffed as I looked over yet another death threat from a noble angry with how I fought with Celestia. I sighed as I set it on the stack then looked up at the clock. 'Luna's test should be back tomorrow morning.' I stood up from my chair and stretched out my arms as I looked over at the sleeping Luna. I smiled as I got up from the chair as I looked at her. I walked over to the bed as she softly snored; with a little laugh, I grabbed the cover and pulled it over her, covering her up.
"Ahm."
I laughed a little more as she moved around a little; I nodded my head before looking at the balcony. The sunlight seemed dimer. 'I guess I should at least try and see how the girls are doing.' I stood back up, then walked out of the room. As I opened the door, I saw Jinn sitting outside the door right in front of the door, hand raised. I smiled down at her, then stepped out of the room and closed the door softly, then looked down at her. "Let's go see if Pinkie left some sweets in the kitchen." Jinn smiled, then nodded.
"Ya, I want some cake!"
Jinn and I walked into the kitchen and saw Pinkie humming and swaying her hips as she iced a cake. I started to back up, but Jinn grabbed hold of my shirt.
"No!"
Pinkie turned and looked back at us. I froze as she looked at me, but her smile didn't waver. She laughed a little then turned back to her cake.
"I was making this for everyone, so please wait a little longer, you two sillies."
I looked at her for a second, then looked around and saw that someone else had been in here not too long ago. "Who else was in here, Pinkie?" She turned and licked the butter knife. I blushed a little then looked away from her. I heard her laugh before she started to talk.
"Rainbow was kicking around in here a little over forty or so minutes ago. The strange thing is she wasn't angry at all. She was actually talking about how princess Celestia overstepped. All the girls do seem to be upset but not fully against you. Most of our anger was at princess Celestia as she started all this by attacking you, which she admitted too.”
I nodded, then leaned back into the wall. "Well, at least you all don't hate me like I was expecting." Pinkie laughed as she looked back at me as she moved the cake aside as a timer went off. She started to hum again and grabbed a potholder from beside the stovetop.
"Believe me; I understand why you'd think that. True, we think you overreacted a little, but we understand the reason."
I smiled, a little relieved by Pinkie's words.
"But that's not to say we're all willing to go back to what it was. Twilight is more than ready to let it go, and so am I but Rainbow and Applejack are much more worried about you snapping like that again if Celestia or the nobles do something."
I nodded, knowing they were right to think like that. "That's fine, and I'll have to earn their trust again." Pinkie nodded as she set a pan of cookies on the stovetop.
"Oh, and maybe avoid the nobles for a little while. Some are out for blood."
I rolled my eyes then sighed as the door opened again. I turned my head a little and saw Twilight with a book pressed into her chest. She smiled up at me as she walked in.
"Ah, I was looking for you, Meliodas. Could you come to my library room? My mother wishes to speck with you."
I went stiff and sighed, then nodded as I got off the wall. "Ok, but I have to ask if she's going to try and stab me." Twilight laughed as she looked to the side.
"Well, no, she more than likely going to chew you out for fighting in the street. She's a lovely mare but a little old fashioned."
I said as I nodded then opened the door. Leaving Jinn and Pinkie alone a thought that, in truth, scared me. "Come on, let go get this over with." Twilight laughed as she walked out, and I saw Jinn stealing a cookie from Pinkie's hand. I laughed as Pinkie yelled at her. I nodded my head, laughing as we started walking. Twilight leaned into my arm as we walked. I smiled then wrapped my arm around her shoulder. She sighed, then leaned more into the side of my chest, making me move a little to the side. "Damn easy, Twilight, you're going to push me over." She got off and laughed as she looked away with her ears and faced red. "You know, I thought you'd be angrier than anyone about what happened. She is your teacher, after all." Twilight huffed as she looked away from me.
“No, Celestia got what was coming to her for what she started. She also hurt many of the mares at Fang's club.”
I shook my head as I looked at the staff walking down the hall. “While true, I believe she was acting in what she thought was best. I’ll make her wear the collar for a few days; then I’ll take it off again.”
“What!?”
I looked back at her and rubbed my ear as I looked at her. She had a shocked look on her face as I started to talk. “I’m not a monster, Twilight. She did what she thought was right, and she was trying to protect Luna. I won't damn her for that." Twilight seemed upset, but I stood my ground. We glared at one another, then someone clearing their throat. I looked to the side, and Velvet stood there in a black dress with a mad look on her face. I sighed then turned to face her fully. "Um..." She sighed, then nodded her head as she looked at me.
“I was going to scream your head off for a while, but after hearing all that.”
I laughed as I looked at the window, and she stomped her hoof on the ground. I jumped and put my hands up as I looked at her. “I’m not going anywhere, I swear!” She smiled as she crossed her arms as she looked at me.
“Good, now. As I said, I was going to get after you, but hearing princess Celestia started this, and you were forced into protecting yourself and the mares from the club. I can’t and won’t condemn you for that.”
I relaxed as I looked at her, then nodded as I lowered my hands. “Look, I don’t like to have to hurt her to get that point across. If she would just let go of what seemed to keep her hate alive, I’d be more than willing to take the collar off and let burn the thing. But, if she keeps snapping and attacking me or does something as she did in the club, I can’t trust her not to fly off the wall again.” Velvet nodded as she walked over, speaking as she got closer.
“Ok, so Gleaming is telling everypony the truth.”
I blinked as she stopped in front of me. “What do you mean? What’s Gleaming been saying?”
“That you didn’t start that fight, and you didn’t destroy that club. As much as she hated you at the beginning, it seems she started to respect you.”
I laughed then looked at Twilight, who seemed happy. “Well, I guess she’s not thinking of killing me anymore.” Twilight laughed into her hand, and I laughed more as Velvet let out a little laugh as well. “How about you two head back to your room, Twilight, and I'll see if I can get some tea or coffee while we talk.” They nodded, then we started to walk, and I looked at Velvet. "Say, why don't you and your mate come for dinner tonight. I need to get the know the two of you better. Plus, I would like to ask some questions about what you think of everything going on as of late." She nodded as she looked at me and smiled as she looked up at me. Velvet started to walk, and Twilight waved before she jogged but up to her mom, and I smiled as I watched her bubble but bounced as she ran. I smiled and nodded my head, then started to head back to the kitchen. Pinkie stood there, three teacups on a tray with a jug of tea as I opened the door.
"I've got you, Melly."
I blinked, knowing she couldn't have heard us that far down the hall. "Okay, your starting to scare me, Pinkie." She laughed as she winked at me. A shiver ran up my spine as I looked at her. I laughed as I took the tray and tea. "Thanks, Pinkie." She smiled and nodded as she bounced back over to her baked goods. I backed out of the kitchen and stopped as I can face to face with Applejack and Rainbow. I blinked, and they looked away from me. "Let me get some more cups. Twilight's mom came to talk with me. She and Twilight are in her room. Please go there. I need to talk with you both as well." Applejack to the tray then spoke up.
"Here, l help."
I smiled and nodded as I walked back in and got the two cups and a couple of bottles of cider. I walked but out and set them on the tray, and held a bottle out to Rainbow. Her ears perked up, and she took it. She got the cap off, and it was down a minute later as we started to walk. I took the tray with my darkness and gave Applejack the other bottle. Like Rainbow, she downed it and sighed as she looked down at the empty bottle in her hands. I looked at her and sighed. "After all this is said and done, why don't you two take Pinkie and Twilight back to ponyville for a while. I'm sure you'll have lost a lot of your trust in me. The best option for you all would be to go home for a while and be with your loved ones." Applejack smiled as she looked at me.
"Thanks, Meliodas."
I nodded as we walked into the library, and they threw the bottles away in a trash can near the door. We walked up the steps, and at the top, I saw Twilight had a table in the room. The girls walked over and sat down around the table, and I saw Velvet had a smile on her face. We all sat down, and everyone took a cup of tea.
“So Meilodas, aside from what we talk about in the hall, I have a simple question for you.”
She sipped at her tea, and for some reason, I felt like I had a knife at my throat. “Y-ya?” She set her cup down and leaned back into her chair.
“I’d like to know if you have an interest in forming a herd with my other Daughter and Cadence.”
I stiffened as I looked at her. “I- I feel like I’m going to get stabbed no matter what I say.” I started to sweat as all the girls glared at me. I laughed when I heard someone clear their throat.” I jumped in the seat and slowly turned my head, and saw Spirit standing there. “Crap.”
