Within' the halls of the throne-room, Celestia and Luna are informed of an ever-growing threat approaching the Western borders of Equestria. With Twilight and her group currently out of Equestria too far from their reach, the two decide to take action into their own hooves and magic.

Being reborn and raised by a retired Royal Guard known as Winter Ember and his lover Mistral Snow, Althalos Ember hears the call to hooves and goes forth to enlist, against his parents' wishes. Upon being sighted by Celestia and Luna, both are surprised to see him, Celestia having a sense of automatic hostility and for Luna a pain in her head for a reason unknown. Celestia, now calmed, saw Althalos not as a threat, but as a sign of redemption for her past actions. But with being in contact with him, secrets soon begin to break, the unknown becoming known around everypony, and the reason of conflict being more than just an ordinary fight between ponies.
