The Forsaken Warrior Of Old

Twilight flies up to the outer walls of Canterlot and begins to make her way to the castle. Unbeknownst to twilight the castle was currently under a lot of stress. The whole city of canterlot sways and shutters like it's made of cards. The ground around her shutters and cracks as massive amounts of snow pour onto the streets from above. Burying ponies and other creatures as they scream for aid. Their screams cut short as they are buried beneath tons of snow. Buildings washed away by the unending flood of snow. The creaking and groaning of buildings only rivaled by the woosh of the snow slamming againist them like a wave againist a rock. Mangled bodies lay strewn about in the streets with pieces of wood and various objects having impaled them due to the force of the snow.

Twilight screams as a wave of snow flies towards her. Forcing her to have to open up her wings. Barely managing to clear the flood of snow before it hits her. Her four hooves making small indents in the tide of snow. Looking back she sees the tide of snow slam into a home. Shattering it into pieces with a ear splitting CRASH. She proceeded to glide through the air to the castle. Watching from afar as the tide continues. Ponies panicking as they try to drag their family members out of homes as they crumble due to the snow. Weirdly though the castle seems to be untouched by the snow. The royal guard having worked over time to get as many creature inside the castle as the princesses cast a shield around it. Some had not heeded the warning and paid the price.

Twilight sighs as she lands. Blinking away the tears in her eyes. She shakes her head and steels her nerves. With a wave of her horn a purple glow envelops the door pushing it open. She enters the throne room. Which is surprisingly empty. The door slams shut behind her with a slam. "Ominous" twilight says as she stares at the door. She then starts to make her way to one of the side areas which jut off from main throne room. The only light in the dark area is from the torches mounted on the clean white marble walls. The torches crackle as the wick on them burns a bright gold. Illuminating the windows and various tapestries. The windows seem to only have minimal light coming through. "The sun must be setting" twilight thinks as she walks down the corroidor. The crackling is only broken by the sound of hushed voices. Twilight immediately recognizes the sound of the voices. "Thank goodness the princesses are okay" she let's go a breathe she didnt know she was holding as she says this to herself. Twilight's hooves clop againist the marble floor as she gets to the door. Hearing only part of a conversation between the two sisters before she knocks with her right front hoof.

"Art thou sure about this sister? I do not remember this event happening ever....why would you never tell me about this?!" Luna responds to her sister sounding exasperated and upset. Celestia responds with a calm cool "I did what I had to sister...i was new to the task at that point. That does not mean I dont regret what I did. I was not in the right frame of mind when I made that decision....." the conversation is cut off as twilight knocks on the door. A bunch of russeling and a couple curses later the door opens with a flash of yellow magic. Celestia and luna stand beside each other. Luna hair looking disheveled and mangled as she scowls at her sister. Giving her a stink eye that could kill an ursa major. Celestia does not respond to this. Standing regal as always and saying to twilight. "Come in twilight. Do not mind my sister. We were just having a disagreement." Twilight looks between the two and shakes her head. She then enters the room. Celestia closes the door behind her as she smiles. Luna giving her a half-hearted smile to twilight.

Twilight says to the two sisters "what the hay is going on? There are a bunch of worms destroying ponyville which are made of pure crystal. Also canterlot is being torn apart by snow and....." she is cut off as the ground shakes. The mountain shuttering as more of the snow falls into the city. Covering more of the city in a deluge of snow. The princesses shiver as their shield is battered with snow. They grunt and their horns glow brightly as the windows go black from the snow as it slides down the shield.

Twilight stamps a hoof down in frustration "what in the name of tartarus is going on?" Twilight pants in exasperation. The stress of the situation having gotten to the new princess. Not being used to seeing death on such a massive scale. "Twilight....as you know I am not perfect. I have made mistakes I am not proud of. I must tell you a story to explain what is going on." Celestia sighs and shakes her head. Looking at twilight with sadness and regret filling her eyes.

Twilight stops pacing and looks at the princess of the sun. She then sees the princess of the sun's demeanor change from being her usual royally composed self to having a shaky voice and on the verge of crying. "Twilight...this is all my fault.... Let's just say the whole story about cadence becoming princess of the crystal empire is false. A couple hundred years ago the crystal empire was an independent nation with it's own ruling family. Equestria and the crystal empire were on pretty good terms until one fateful day. An equestrian trader that was selling goods in the crystal empire was assaulted and murdered for and I quote "being in the wrong place you equestrian filth". The tensions had risen before that due to the crystal empire being fiercely independent. They thought Equestria was gonna take away their sovereignty." Celestia takes a deep breath as she looks at twilight. Twilight having sat down and started to listen. Staring at her wide eyed as she hears the tale.

"So the whole thing was a lie?" Twilight says to the princess of the sun. Celestia responds by nodding her head and sighing. "Yes it was a lie. I wanted ponies to not have to deal with the horrors of what happend. I didnt want them to be haunted by what happend back then so I erased it from history. It was a neccessary evil I believe."

Luna does a double take. Looking at her sister like she has two heads. She then says to her "although I trust your judgement. I do believe you went a bit overboard there." Celestia nods at her sister and continues with her tale "this disagreement spiraled out of control and eventually lead to a war between equestria and the crystal empire. At the end of it all we stood victorious but at a massive cost on both sides. Thousands had died on both sides and even more were made homeless. The royal family of the crystal empire went into exile in the mountains but not before the army found them. The....the...the general lost control of his soldiers and they murdered most of the royal family. Except one of them."

Twilight's jaw drops as she and luna both scream "THEY DID WHAT?" Both of them stare at Celestia horrified. Celestia starts to cry as she gulps. Trying to recompose herself. Luna wraps her wing around her older sister. Comforting her as celestia continues to compose herself. After a few minutes of waiting she manages to calm down. "Please do continue your tale sister. You have mine and twilight's attention."

Celestia continues her tale from where she left off. "The crystal ponies were not happy with this arrangement. Many left into the mountains with the last remaining member of the crystal empire. I put cadence on the throne as a last ditch effort to calm the public. To make sure they were not left without guidance. This only lead to more issues which had to be cracked down on. Assassination plots and various coup's were made againist Cadence as she struggled to bring the shambles of the empire together. Both of us agreed that there must be something done about this. Thus we sent the troops to break these up which only lead to more blood. Eventually after many years things stabilized as we allowed those ponies discontent with Cadence's rule to go live in the north."

Celestia takes another break as another wave of snow batters the shield. She grunts and her horn glows again. She smiles weakly at twilight. Celestia then prepares to continue what she was talking about. The light from her and Luna's horn the only lights in the room. Filling it with gold and deep blue color. The only sound in the room is the sound of both of the sister's magic. Celestia takes a deep breath and continues.

"Cadance had to do some questionable things to secure her rule. She always consulted me so this is all partially my fault. Twilight let's just say the single mare from the slaughter who survived has an understandable anger towards us. Through some spies we sent out there we found out she found an ancient necklace that star swirl created to help rebuild the crystal empire after it was brought back. It is used to make creatures made of pure crystal. Though it pulls from one's own magic to give them life"

Celestia has to take another moment to compose herself. Her voice having started to shake as she holds back tears. She fidgets nervously as she takes another deep breath and continues. "Well I do believe the mare has returned for vengence. She swore vengence on us about 20 years ago. She sent cadance a letter written in the blood of one of the crystal ponies under her domain. Swearing that she would get her throne back through any means neccessary. You must remember this name twilight. Her name is crystalline heart. Though she goes by another name now as used to be custom for those who rose to the throne in the crystal empire. You have to go to the crystal empire to make sure the ponies there are safe." Celestia waves a hoof and implores her to go. Standing imposingly as she looks down at twilight.

Twilight responds with a sharp turn and nods "can do princess" she exclaims as she runs out of the castle as fast as she can. Taking to the sky once more with her wings flapping as fast as they can. She pants and sweats as she goes towards ponyville once more. "I have to get my friends and then we can save the empire. There is no way I can fight a mare like that on my own. My friends wont be enough though I am gonna need more ponies." Twilight ponders as she flies through the cold air. Her wings slicing through it like a knife through butter. The infinite dark blue surrounding her like an ocean. She eventually makes her way to the ruins of ponyville. A massive hole in the ground is the only thing left along with only her castle somehow floating in mid air. "Wow that is interesting. I didnt know my house could float."

Twilight says this as she lands on the balcony of her castle trying to think of what to do. "That massive worm literally took all of ponyville with it. So my friends are most likely in the monster's belly. I really do hope they are okay. I should really go after them" she sighs and flaps her wings. Going into the dark deep depths of the cavernous hole in the ground. Seeing multiple pieces of walls stuck into the ground as she flies down. "Wierd. There arent any bodies to be seen" her words echo through the quiet cavern. She flies up to a wall of the cavern. She pokes it and pulls her hoof back. The crystal lining the cavern glowing slightly when she touches it.

A roar echoes through the cavern as she yelps. Filling the whole cavern shiver and shake as she takes off. Being chased by the massive worm that had eaten ponyville. Its teeth covered in pieces of walls and pieces of pony bodies. Twilight barely manages to escape the massive worm as it flies out of the cavern. Jumping into the air several miles after her before it slams into the ground and starts digging again. The worm disappearing back into the ground not returning as it destroyed part of the everfree from it's free fall. Twilight sighs and shakes her head. Going back to her castle and landing on the balcony. She then disappears into her chamber to think. The whole castle is abandoned. She jumps onto her bed and puts a pillow over her head and screams in frustration. "I gotta think quickly. Come on twilight think....think!"
