A Late Night Stroll

Saturday, August 2nd, 2017

Cantelrot Mississippi

It was a cool summer night, in the quaint and old town of Canterlot Mississippi, a nice place full of kind people. A few miles outside of town at Black County State Park was one of these nice folks. A young woman named Fluttershy, a teacher at Canterlot Middle School. She was short at about 5 feet 4 inches with thin with beautiful, soft yellow skin, and long flowing pink hair, she wore a bright blue sweatshirt with a pink heart in the center, blue jean cutoffs, white knee-high socks with pink stripes at the top, and black and white converses.

In her hand was a small LED flashlight brightening the path covered with leaves, and sticks but still, a noticeable line between the tall varying different types of trees blowing lightly in the calm and cool winds. These late-night walks helped her relax, Fluttershy had anxiety and seeing as she was a teacher she would also get very stressed, so she would volunteer at the local animal shelter, and go on long walks it at least helped her to embrace earth’s natural beauty. Her footfalls were light against the underbrush barely making a sound, noticing that the moon was now bright enough she turned off the flashlight and put it in her shorts pocket continuing forward

The only sounds on this trail being the cheerful chirps of the crickets and the frogs filling the air as Fluttershy hummed a merry tune as she walked down the long path that twisted and turned for three miles. Fluttershy stopped by a brown sign that was less than a foot shorter than her with “1.5” written on it in large white letters. She sat down on a nearby rock and removed her sweatshirt revealing her bright red tank top and her silver cross necklace around her neck. After she sat down she noticed that all the sounds had stopped, even the wind had stopped bringing an almost unnatural stillness to the forest.

She got off the rock and tied her sweatshirt around her waist and began to continue down the trail, having now quickened her pace. But as she walked she saw a strange glow from underneath some leaves, and a light buzzing sound filling her ears. She walked over and kneeled, brushing off the leaves and twigs, and pushing a few strands of hair out of her eyes. The strange glow was coming from an orange hexagonal crystal with a point on each end that gave off a feeling of warmth. She picked it up with both her hands feeling it’s comforting warmth in her palms and focusing her gaze on its beautiful glow.

Then, it grew brighter and hotter to the point she dropped it pain and watched it shoot into her chest. Before she could figure out what was going on she ran the other way, not stopping at all. She finally found her girlfriend Rainbow Dash’s car which she was borrowing while hers was being fixed. The car was a dark blue 1969 Chevrolet Camaro that looked brand new. She yanked open the door, practically threw herself in, and slammed the door behind her hyperventilating. After taking some deep breaths she looked down at the center of her chest and finding nothing, absolutely nothing as if it never happened she breathed a sigh of relief and drove home.

She drove in silence, and quite slowly as she didn’t know how to change gear properly her mind flashing to that moment and her questioning if it even happened to begin with. She finally reached the gravel driveway to her house, but before she could turn in she heard a loud gunshot and saw a red 2005 Chevrolet 1500 tear out of the driveway and skid almost into a ditch before speeding away. As they sped away from the driveway, a dark green Polaris four-wheeler pulled up to the edge followed by two gray pit bulls.

On the back of this four-wheeler was a tall and fairly large middle-aged man with a bald head with bits of black hair showing, a short but still fairly thick black and graying beard, a scar on his left cheek, and a marine corps tattoo on his right shoulder. He wore no shoes, a white t-shirt, and white and green striped sleeping pants and held a reproduction of a Winchester 1887 Shotgun, smoke still billowing out of the barrel

“Are you okay Mister Thattchir?” asked Fluttershy as she pulled up to him

“Yeah, I just wish Tony Richardson would get HIS DAMN KIDS UNDER CONTROL” screamed the man in his deep southern voice “Oh and you can call me Arron.”

Fluttershy paused and said hurriedly “I gotta go” before quickly continuing down the driveway.

This driveway had three houses on it, or at least two and a camper trailer, the closest to the end was the house her and Rainbow Dash were renting, a small single-story one bedroom, one bathroom house with a front porch. The next was an old bumper mount camper where Arron’s brother Blake Thattchir lived. He was three years younger than Arron being about average size and being 6 feet tall, he had a full head of brown hair and a long brown beard, this man taught at history for seniors at CHS.

At the end was a blue, two-story, medium-sized ranch house with a wooden shop next to it, in this house lived Arron, the Sheriff of Black County who owned a small construction company, and was married to the Principal of CHS, Principal Celestia. She parked in front of her house and shut off the car and walked to the front door and unlocked it. As she walked in she was immediately embraced by Rainbow Dash who was wearing a bright blue t-shirt, and pink underwear and had been sitting up watching TV waiting for her to get home.

“I was so worried babe” exclaimed Rainbow Dash happily.

Fluttershy just stood there awkwardly and subtly pushed her girlfriend away and took off her shoes, her socks, and removed her sweatshirt, and shorts before walking to the bedroom, Rainbow Dash following her closely. Little did she know of what horrors that night would bring upon her.
