‘’Who knew summer would be so, boring?’’ I thought to myself, as I lay on my bed, thinking what to do.
‘’ TV lamp burned out, computer not working, already read all the books I have, drew random comics and stuff…..THERE’S NOTHING TO DO!’’ I yelled in frustration.
‘’I bet if I were a pony I wouldn’t be bored.’’ I grunted.
(Yes, I was a brony, and proud of it too, but I wasn’t one of those bronies that had a pony fetish or anything. In fact, I was quite the opposite, and thought that meant you had problems, and I still do; I was a brony, because it helped me cope with my life, all the bad things that turned up, like many others who were welcomed into the herd.)
I thought about me being a pony for a while, soon realizing there wasn’t really anything to do still, and when I did think of something, most of the time, it was an idea that would undeniably leave me in trouble, or extremely bored worse than I was at the time. So I took a walk to clear my mind. My neighborhood wasn’t really exciting, all it was was an oval shaped neighborhood, with the entrance coming into it being at the bottom left corner, with the exit being the opposite; it is mostly made of about 30 houses, so nothing really exciting ever happens around here. Well, in a pretty poorly and boringly descripted neighborhood, you would imagine it being the same, and it was, until I heard sirens on the highway.
When it came to sirens and emergencies, I was always there for the excitement and adrenaline coming out of it, so when sirens came my way, I felt lucky. As soon as a hint of the police came knocking at my ears, I quickly forgot about my walk and dashed to the scene in progress, curious of the emergency. When I arrived, I realized it was a high-speed chase! Since where I was standing, it was difficult to see the cars, I attempted to move across the street. After looking to the sides of me multiple times, I figured it was safe, so I quickly sprinted across the street, only to suddenly feel a sharp pain at my side about halfway to the sidewalk. I winced as I was pushed across the street, by what felt to be a train, using its full force on me.
I heard a quick scream, but ignored it, trying to crawl away as I slipped in a small pool of my own blood. I tried to call for help, but the grunts and heavy breathing I was doing quickly bypassed any word I tried to say. I felt as if I was on fire everywhere, and the heat of the black asphalt streets didn’t help either. Seconds after, the pain became to unbearable for me to handle, and I simply collapsed.
Everything was fuzzy after that, only hearing grunts and mumbling every once in a while. There was nothing I could see, just pitch black, no light, no nothing. I felt as if I wasn’t there, but the state of unconsciousness leaves you unable to comprehend anything, so it was pretty weird.
Then, for what seemed like a split-second, I appeared in a hospital bed, as if I had teleported there. It took me a few seconds to straighten out everything in my mind, and when I did, I attempted to call for someone, but it sounded very weak and soft.
‘’Hello?’’
‘’Anyone there?’’
I figured nobody would answer, so I held on to my breath and looked around, to try to familiarize myself with my surroundings, until I heard a coarse ‘’who’s there?’’
‘’uh, I’m Damian Ward, sir.’’
‘’Clocks worth.’’
‘’Clocks worth? I thought, ‘’who would name their son Clocks worth?’’ I laid there, thinking what to say back, until I was interrupted by someone greeting me.
‘’Ah, Mr. Cranberry, you’re awake, good.’’ Said a small, mysterious figure in the shadows. ‘’Mr. Cranberry? I thought, ‘’ Is he talking to someone else? Wow, people here have weirder names than I thought.’’ I turned to the figure and realized he was staring at me. In confusion, I figured he was looking at the person next to me, common mistake, you know. I looked and saw nobody was next to me, so I stared at him, thinking he would realize his mistake, but I still felt his eyes on me.
‘’My name is Damian Ward.’’
The figure stood silent for a while, flipping through some papers before saying,
‘’Patient 0094, located in wing 3A, name, Kola Cranberry.?’’
I could feel my eyes widen in confusion and shock, realizing that Kola Cranberry was the name of the pony- version of me I made. An orange, brown-eyed Pegasus with the cutie mark of a soda can, having brown hair, and a white tail, wearing a baseball cap and a black military-looking vest. Thinking I did not understand him I asked,
‘’What did you say my name was?’’
‘’Kola Cranberry.’’ He answered in complete confidence.
Suddenly, he moved up in front of my bed, and into the light.
My pupils shrank so small, they weren’t visible.
My jaw dropped.
I started to feel like I was going out again, but I was able to hold my grip on the world.
Whatever world this was.
I was listening to a horse talk, with a coat and a stethoscope around his neck. So many thoughts bundled up in my mind, clogging up all my lines of thinking, until I finally blurted out,
‘’HOLY SHIT! A TALKING HORSE!?’’
‘’I am NOT a horse, I’m a stallion….are you feeling alright? You seem, frightened.’’ The horse responded quietly, lifting a brow.
‘’NO! I’M TALKING TO A HORSE DOCTOR, A FAIRY TALE! A LIE! A HALLUCINATION!’’ I yelled out, starting to pass out again.
‘’Whoa, whoa, easy there, your starting to hyperventilate, calm down.’’
The horse talking again proved it was no hallucination, causing me to freak out more, eventually passing out. Another-what-seemed-like-a-split-second second came by, and I ended up in the same bed. I calmed down and processed my surroundings again, thinking I was having a dream when the horse doctor came in earlier, until the same one entered again.
‘’Good, you’re awake once more.’’ he said.
I started to hyperventilate, again, until the doctor said,
‘’Calm down, relax, any confusion and questions will be resolved if you calm down.’’
My breathing rate surprisingly slowed hearing his reassuring words, and my heart took a break.
‘’Feeling better, now?’’ he asked. I gave a slow nod. ’’Good, then let’s get you out of that bed, you’ve fully recovered from your fall.’’
‘’Fall?’’ I gave him a puzzled look. ‘’what are you talking about, I didn’t fall, I got hit, by, some…thing.’’ I tried to think what had hit me, for the possibilities could have been endless, but my train of thought was de-railed when the doctor said,
‘’ You got hit by the ground. You were flying and-‘’ I cut him off. ‘’Flying? I can’t fly, I don’t have wings, unless I was in an airplane, and I wasn’t….’’ I began to trail off, when the doctor responded,
‘’I don’t know what an airplane is, and if you were able to remember anything, you would know that you are a Pegasus from Cloudsdale, and you had gotten hit by lightning, causing you to lose consciousness and plummet into the ground while you were on your way to the marketplace in Ponyville.’’ The doctor said. Suddenly, it hit me.
‘’CLOUDSDALE?! PONYVILLE?! PEGASI?! I’M IN EQUESTRIA!?!?!?!?!!?!’’
‘’The one and only!’’ the doctor said with a smirk.
I couldn’t believe it, I just couldn’t, until I looked at were my hands used to be.
‘’Hooves? Where are my hands!?’’ I asked, frightened.
‘’You. don’t. have any?’’ The doctor said with a confused look on his face.’’ Any ways, we need you out of this bed, for another patient needs it, so I’ll just help you on your way.’’
I was put in a wheelchair and rolled towards the entrance. ‘’My dream of being a pony was brought to life, but I guess I did not expect all this confusion and thoughts when it happened.’’ I thought.
Once outside, the sun shined on my eyes, causing me to look away.
‘’Alright, here you go.’’ He said, stopping the chair. ’’I would help you regain your memory, for it seems this is the case, but sadly, I wouldn’t know how to, so just talk to some other ponies to jog your memories again.’’
Before I took my first step, the doctor called out again. ‘’Sorry, I forgot! Here are your clothes.’’ Then, a black, military-looking vest and a white cap were thrown in front of my hooves.
After I had the clothes put on, I started to walk aimlessly around Ponyville, trying to take in everything, even though it was all happening at once. The whole experience was an enormous amount of crap to take in, so I didn’t exactly just go about everything my own way. I just walked, gaping at all the vibrant, colorful ponies laughing, playing, and talking. I mean, I wished many times that I had wanted to be Kola Cranberry, but the sudden switch between worlds? All the questions flying about in my mind? Usually when I stare off into space, I go crazy, asking myself:
‘’What color is nothing?’’
‘’Why are we here?’’
‘’Is there really life between other galaxies?’’
‘’If so, then are they identical to us, or completely different?’’
And other questions among those lines, with no apparent answer emanating from the original source of the questions themselves, so being in a completely different world, galaxy, or universe, really just doubled my insanity and questions at tremendous speeds unknown to me before.
Then, as my mind tried to wrap around all this confusement and happenings, I noticed a familiar yellow Pegasus with a pink mane walking around. My eyes widened as I stopped.
‘’FLUTTERSHY?’’ I said ecstatically.
She turned, and when she saw me, her eyes widened too, and she ran towards me, yelling,
‘’I’M SO GLAD YOU’RE ALRIGHT!!!’’ proceeding to hug me, tears already covering her face.
‘’Me, too?’’ I said in plain confusion. ‘’I guess Kola had a reputation here, or something’’ I thought.
‘’Oh, dear! Sorry if I scared you, I’m just so happy you’re alright.’’ She squeaked.
Unsure of what to do next, I just simply nodded and went about my way, not realizing she was following me the entire time. So, thinking she left, I started to realize, being a pony is fricken weird.
The hooves, for starters, were soft, due to the fur, but really hard.’’ That would suck if someone face-hoofed themselves accidently.’’ I thought to myself. And oddly enough, it turned out you can actually FEEL everything you walk on, instead of your hoof being sorta like a shoe, were you could only feel the actual shoe itself.
The fur was pleasant, though. It felt, well, SOFT. There was really no way to describe it. It was as if you pet a dog or cat with soft fur, just put it on yourself. And amazingly enough, it turned out cutie marks dye the hair it’s put on, giving it the image, instead of it being a tattoo-like marking engraved into your body.
I kept thinking about all of this, messing with my hooves and all my physical attributes, until Fluttershy spoke behind me, making me jump.
‘’Um, if it’s alright with you, can I ask were your going?’’
‘’I don’t even know where I am.’’ I responded, looking around, trying to mark out familiar structures around me. ‘’Why?’’
‘’Don’t know where you are?’’
‘’No clue. The doctor said I can’t remember anything.’’
‘’Oh, we need to take you to Twilight’s to fix this!’’
‘’Ok, but before we do, do I have a house or something? I’m gettin’ kinda tired.’’
‘’Why, yes! It’s that direction, I think.’’ Fluttershy said, hoof pointing towards the sky.
Then, outa nowhere, a top hat fell in front of my hooves.
‘’Huh?’’
‘’WATCH OUT!’’ Fluttershy gasped, pointing directly above me.
‘’HOLY CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!’’ I hear as I see a pony falling RIGHT TOWARDS ME.
And before I’m able to jump out of the way, I’m crushed by a dark blue unicorn with a red, white and blue mane, a fire-colored tail and a monocle.
‘’OOOF!’’
‘’I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to crush..an..orange pony..with clothes..... WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON IN HERE!?!?’’ the unicorn screamed.
‘’Did you look at yourself?’’ I wheezed.
He then suddenly stared at his hooves in disbelief, then turned to me and began to freak out.
‘’WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME!? WHY AM I A HORSE?! WHY AM I A TALKING, DARK BLUE HORSE!? ANSWER ME!?’’
Then suddenly I noticed his cutie mark.
‘’Taco?’’
(Ok, let me backtrack, Kevin is a really good friend of mine who I turned into a brony, and his nickname is Taco. He once saw this drawing of Kola I made, and wanted me to turn him into a pony, so I did, and now it seemed he was stuck there, too.)
‘’Damian?’’
‘’WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON!?’’ Kevin yelled once more.
‘’How did you get here?’’ I asked.
Apparently, after a thunderstorm, he went outside and realized a rainbow was beaming in his Dad’s car. So, he went inside and started playing and taking pictures with the rainbow, until the car started driving itself. He freaked out a bit at first, but realized the car only moved five miles an hour, and only circled the driveway. Well, he had accidently fell asleep and was eventually woken up by sirens, and realized cops were following him because apparently the car mysteriously shut down any other cars around it, intentionally blowing up the batteries. So as the cops chased the now speeding car, he tried to stop the car, which seemed to drive faster every time he struggled, until the car somehow launched in mid-air, soaring above the clouds. Eventually, though, the car had stopped after some time and began to drop out of the sky, so he got out of the car and fell here.
His explanation seemed really cheesy, as if it were part of a horribly-written story, but I quickly forgot about this when I realized something.
‘’WHERE’S THE CAR.’’
‘’I dunno, I saw it fly that way’’ Kevin said calmly, pointing to the direction of the possible crash.
So, me, Fluttershy and Kevin headed in the same direction and were lead to Twilight’s house. We had noticed a large group of curious ponies staring at the tree until I noticed the car was stuck IN the tree. We pushed through the crowd and saw Twilight outside the house, trying to figure out what may be lodged in her tree, and what to do.
‘’Twilight?’’ I asked as she looked up at me.
‘’Kola! Fluttershy! And…unicorn?’’
‘’Twilight, this is my friend, Taco.’’ I said, knowing Kevin would be a weird name here.
‘’Taco? That’s an odd name.’’
Damn.
‘’Well, anyways, nice to meet you, Taco, and I’m glad to see you’re alright, Kola.’’ Twilight said.
‘’So what’s that thing stuck in the tree?’’ I asked, acting clueless.
‘’I don’t know, but I won’t be able to sleep knowing that mysterious object is there. I’m going to have to contact Princess Celestia about this…’’
And, without warning, she teleported away.
‘’My Dad’s gonna kill me because of this.’’ Kevin muttered worryingly.
‘’How would he even be able to find it?’’
‘’I don’t know, but HE WILL.’’
Then, a blinding flash came out of nowhere, followed by everyone yelling and shielding their eyes. Then, Princess Celestia appeared. She stood about nine feet tall, her flowing mane and tail following the wind that slowly breezed by. The instant I saw her, I gave a fanboy squeal, causing her to lift a brow at me, followed by a warm greeting.
‘’Oh, hello, Kola, good to see you’re alright.’’ Celestia said with a smile.
‘’So, Twilight, where’s this ‘’mysterious object’’? she asked, turning to Twilight.
‘’It’s in the tree.’’
‘’Hmm, I’ll have to take this in for further investigation.’’ Celestia said, looking at the car.
Then, almost immediately, the blinding flash re-appeared, leaving pink mist behind with it.
‘’OWW! AAHH!’’ cried everybody as they shielded their eyes once more.
All the ponies stood rubbing their eyes for a few seconds, trying to re-adjust them, when Fluttershy spoke
‘’I’m going to leave, if it’s alright with you…’’ she said, eyes closed.
‘’Oh, yeah, sorry, I forgot. I didn’t mean to take your time. Bye, Fluttershy.’’ I said quietly.
‘’Oh, no, being with you was very exciting. Bye, Kola.’’ Then Fluttershy walked away.
I hadn’t even realized the time due to Kevin and everything, but when I did, I noticed the sun was beginning to set. I even realized the massive group of ponies had dispatched, and when Fluttershy left, I also saw it was just me and Kevin.
‘’You have a crush on her, dontcha? ‘’Kevin asked slyly, completely forgetting about the car and what-not.
‘’No, she’s just so much more adorable in person!’’
‘’See, you do like her.’’
‘’No, she’s adorable like a kitten, nothing love-related.’’
‘’Like a kitten? Seriously?’’
‘’Best example I could come up with.’’
‘’So, how did YOU get here, anyways?’’ Kevin asked, quickly changing the subject.
‘’I dunno, got hit by car and ended up in the hospital here, I’m probably in a real hospital, but I don’t know.’’ I said blankly, not really knowing what had happened.
‘’Huh, if I get outa here, I’ll visit you.’’
‘’Um, ok. Yeah, so anyways, we should leave, it’s getting pretty late.’’
‘’Agreed. So, where do we go, exactly? Do you have like a house or what?’’
‘’Fluttershy pointed to the direction of where my house is, but it’s in Cloudsdale, which is only accessible by Pegasi.’’ I said, showing off my wings.
‘’What would happen to me if I went there?’’
‘’Well, other ponies would fall through the clouds, but the floors of Cloudsdale houses are solid. The only problem would be carrying you there, ‘cause I would probably break my freakin’ wings.’’
Then, out of nowhere, Kevin got wings. We looked up and saw Twilight looking out of her window, her hair looking really messy, and her eyes bloodshot, even though she just barley went into her house a few minutes ago.
‘’GET OUT OF HERE ALREADY, I’M TRYING TO GO TO SLEEP.’’ Twilight grumbled.
So, we did as we were told, and headed towards Cloudsdale. I knew the house we arrived at was mine, ‘cause the mailbox in front read: K.CRANBERRY. I had realized I didn’t have a key or anything, but Kevin saw the door was opened.
‘’Did someone rob this place, or what?’’
‘’I don’t know, but keep your guard up.’’
We slowly snuck around the house, and everything seemed alright, so we went upstairs to check there, immediately noticing the door to the first room was open.
‘’Alright, I’ll sneak inside, and you stay there in case they try running away.’’ I whispered.
‘’Got it.’’
‘’Ok, one, two, THREE!’’
Then, I slowly opened the door to see a light blue colored Pegasus with a rainbow colored mane and tail.
‘’Rainbow Dash? What’s she doing here?’’
Rainbow Dash quickly opened her eyes at the sound of her name and looked up.
‘’Kola? Your- LOOK OUT!’’ Rainbow Dash warned, speeding towards Kevin and bucking him.
‘’GET OFF OF ME, YOU CRAZY B-‘’
‘’Rainbow, he’s a friend of mine. Rainbow, Taco. Taco, Rainbow.’’
‘’Oh, sorry, Taco.’’ Rainbow squeaked apologetically.
‘’JESUS CHRIST, MAH CHEST IS ON FIRE!’’ Kevin winced.
‘’You’ll get over it.’’ She said
‘‘son of a biscuit………’’
‘’Yeah, yeah, save your fighting for tomorrow. Kevin you sleep on the couch, I’ll be on the floor, and Rainbow, you can have the bed, we’ll sort everything out in the morning, because I still have no idea what’s going on, and I’m tired.’’
‘’Alright then, goodnight you guys.’’ Rainbow muttered.
‘’ ‘night.’’
‘’goodnight.’’ Kevin grumbled.
Me and Kevin never had a chance to really go to sleep, so we laid down, trying to comprehend the situation we were handed, completely clueless of what had just happened a few hours ago. The lack of sleep had taken its toll eventually, leaving me and Kevin very sluggish and hungry the next day, so we went to get a bite to eat, not wanting to make our own food. The trip to Ponyville was very difficult, due to the fact that I had to carry Kevin down, and when we got there, he asked ‘’where’s all the meat?’’ as soon as he got the menu.
Then everyone stopped, staring at Kevin like he was a monster.
‘’Ponies don’t eat meat.’’ I whispered angrily.
‘’It’s okay, everybody, he was just kidding!’’ I yelled out.
Everyone then assumed I was telling the truth, and went about their own business.
‘’Heh, that’s some good prank material there.’’ Rainbow said slyly, not realizing he was serious.
‘’So what do I get to eat? What tastes good here?’’ Kevin asked turning to me.
‘’Why do you ask me? I don’t even know how I got here! The day you fell outa the sky was the day I woke up in a hospital bed here, and I’m still trying to figure out what the heck happened!’’ I said sheepishly, forgetting Rainbow Dash was next to me.
‘’What are you talking about?’’
‘’Apparently, I don’t remember anything from before the fall.’’
‘’Riiiiiiight, okay.’’ Rainbow said jokingly, thinking I was kidding.
Suddenly, a purple flash appeared and left Twilight in its midst.
‘’Kola, Pinkie Pie wants to meet your friend in about five minutes.’’ she said.
And almost immediately, she vanished.
‘’Who’s Pinkie Pie?’’ Kevin asked curiously.
‘’Just go with it.’’
‘’Should we get going, then?’’ I asked.
‘’Yup.’’
‘’I just realized we didn’t even get anything to eat, though.’’ Kevin groaned.
‘’Don’t worry, there will be cake.’’
‘’Cake? Heh, I like this Pinkie Pie girl already!’’
So we made our way to Sugarcube Corner, only to find all the lights off.
‘’Does this mean there’s not going to be cake? Kevin asked.
‘’Most likely she’s hiding, this is a party, y’know.’’
Then, I opened the door and I was immediately blasted in the face by Pinkie’s party cannon.
‘’PFPFTH! Thurs cunfatti in muh mouf!’’ I said as I spit out confetti.
‘’Oh, sorry! I didn’t know this thing packed so much punch!’’ Pinkie said ecstatically, putting away the cannon in her cotton candy-looking mane.
‘’WOO! Let’s get this party started!’’ Kevin yelled as he ran towards the cake.
The party had raged on until about three o’clock in the morning, everyone but me leaving Sugarcube Corner while they were sugar-high, wasting. Everyone was pretty dizzy after about ten cupcakes, when I only ate two, and now I had to find a way to get Kevin and Rainbow Dash up to my Cloudsdale house. I eventually had to fly them both to the house, and I actually DID break a fuckin’ wing because of Kevin, but he was too passed-out to notice what I was going through.
The pain was freaking UNBEARABLE. I had nearly crashed multiple times, barely being able to continue flying after every close call. Sadly, though, the day with the two of them was worse than the night, and I wished I had savored it. The day was a living HELL. First, Kevin had woken up, and immediately started whining about his head, not taking any care to realize my fucking wing was broken and bleeding everywhere. Then Rainbow Dash freaked out when she saw my wing and went to get help, but fell asleep before she had opened the door. Kevin then started throwing up around my goddamn house while I was trying to stop the continuous bleeding of my messed up wing, causing me to slip in it when I went to get another towel for the wound. So, not only did I need medical attention, but I needed a shower and many carpet-cleaning products. I realized after a few hours that my wing had lost a lot of blood when I was able to give myself attention, but I could not make it to the hospital because I would not be able to fly there, my house would most likely be destroyed, and I needed one of them to help me there. It wasn’t until I noticed that I was really pale and weak that I should try to go to the hospital alone. But by the time I tried to go, I fell unconscious beside Rainbow Dash.
I woke up in a large pool of blood hours later, choking on it while it was seeping into my mouth. I tried to get up, but felt completely immobile, only being able to move my eyes and mouth. I looked at my hoof and it caught my attention that I had started from a bright orange, to a very sandy-like pale yellow. I thought I was going to die, and most likely, I was. Rainbow Dash was still next to me, her light blue fur tainted with the dark color of hardened blood. I didn’t think that I was actually going to die THIS way; I had thought and wanted it to be with an awesome fight as they show in the movies, not me dying in front of my door because of my stupid sugar-high friends.
I was getting ready to fall asleep and leave this world, until I heard a small knock on the door. I was able to choke out the words ‘’come in’’ very weakly, and when the door opened, I was greeted by a grey, blond Pegasus holding an envelope in her mouth. As soon as she opened the door, blood came pouring out of the house and onto the porch, causing the derp-eyed Pegasus to yelp as she jumped back. I reached my hoof towards her and whispered,
‘’Help. Me.’’
She stood there for a second, and realized she SHOULD probably help me, so she grabbed me and carried me down to Ponyville’s hospital. Upon arriving, I was immediately rushed down the hall to the emergency room where I was blinded by a bright light.
‘’Ugh, what happened?’’ Rainbow grunted.
‘’I think we had too many cupcakes…’’ Kevin responded, waking up beside the trash can.
Rainbow found it hard to move to where she was, until she noticed the dried up black liquid beside her, pinning her to the ground very weakly.
‘’What is, holy sweet Celestia’’ she said as she saw a trail of soon-to-be dried up blood streaked across the cloud of which the house was sitting on.
‘’Is that, blood?’’ Kevin asked, not convinced that it was.
‘’It’s Kola’s.’’
And without warning, Rainbow carried Kevin down to the hospital, attempting to find me there, already forgetting about her blood stained fur.
‘’This is bad, very bad.’’
‘’Do you think he will make it, Doc?’’
‘’I don’t know, but it will be a miracle if he does, he’s already lost three quarters of the blood in his entire body. The fact that he has been living for this long is a miracle as it is, so all we can do is hope he can pull out another one.’’
‘’How could one Pegasus live despite all this pain?’’
Another flash.
‘’Well, his wing is back in order, but his blood type is very rare to find in ponies, and we would have to find multiple donators in order to save this one’s life.’’
‘’But the only other pony in Ponyville with O type blood is…’’
Flash.
‘’What are they doing in here? Get them out!’’
‘’But Kola’s our friend! Let us see him!’’
‘’Kola! KOLA! I’M SORRY!’’
‘’SECURITY!’’
‘’NO! GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME, GET OFF! KOLA!’’
I was able to hear all the conversations, but not see them, for my vision was blurry and disoriented. They discussed how they would be able to save my life, bringing in a chalkboard to start brain-storming while I lay in the middle of the room, staring at the light overhead.
‘’We can’t simply give up on his life, dammit! I will NOT have this poor Pegasus die on my watch!’’
‘’We might have to stray further than Ponyville and Cloudsdale if this pony is to live.’’
‘’We would have to split between cities, for we have three of them: Fillydelphia, Manehattan, and Canterlot.’’
‘’I’ll get us train tickets tomorrow, so we’ll have to be up early in order to leave to the other cities on time. Remember, every second wasted marks a time closer to this pony’s death, so we cannot waste any time. I will be waiting at the train station until six o’clock, so don’t be late. Good luck to you all.’’
I woke up later on in another hospital bed, with Kevin and Rainbow Dash right beside me.
‘’Did you hear what the doctors said? Kevin asked curiously.
‘’They-they said seventy-five percent of all the blood in my body has been lost, and that they will have to search out of town to find donors of the same blood type.’’ I wheezed ‘’they said it would be a miracle if I survived…’’ I choked.
Kevin looked away in frustration.
‘’I-I’m so sorry..’’ Rainbow whispered apologetically.
‘’No need to be sorry, ‘cause at least I’ll know I died having caring friends like you guys..’’ I said, looking at both of them.
And without warning, Rainbow leaned over me with a kiss. Rainbow blushed. She stayed there indefinitely, locked in a seemingly spell-binded chain, unable to escape. She was finally stopped by an orderly who said visiting hours were over. I had nothing to say to Rainbow Dash for I didn’t know what to say, because of how unexpected it was. Kevin simply nodded to the orderly and proceeded to leave, while Rainbow just smiled at me and left. It was funny at how dramatic all of this was and how it happened so quickly, but obviously very painful on me.
About two days had passed, and I felt myself growing weaker and weaker by the second. Kevin and Rainbow would check up on me routinely, usually talking about their days and telling me important news going around town. It wasn’t until the third day came by when the doctors had returned. I felt happy at the sight of them, hoping they had enough help to restore me to my original condition, but I was proved wrong. The doctors said I only had about a week to live. Upon hearing that, I realized I should at least meet the rest of the Mane Six Team before kicking the bucket. But, that had to wait for another time, because I was NOT going down without a fight.
The doctors had released me from my bed and gave me a wheelchair so I could move around, and as soon as those doors were opened, I set off to Twilight’s house for some help. Immediately, I was greeted by Spike by the door, but I was too focused on the task at hand to really notice it. I wish I would have, though, for I needed help getting up the stairs, and Spike wanted nothing to do with me, despite my condition. I could not think of any other way to get to Twilight, for my voice was still very soft, my wing was still recovering, and I was too weak to get up the stairs.
I felt as if I was fifty years old with all the physical limitations I had, and I realized I wasn’t getting up there anytime soon, so I took a nap. I eventually was woken up by Twilight’s room door slamming, only to hear her ask,
‘’SPIIIIIKE! WHERE’S MY MAGIC ENCYCLOPEDIA!?’’
‘’I don’t know, but I’ll look for it right now.’’
Then, right before she walked back into her room I called her name and she saw me and how I was doing.
‘’Holy sweet Celestia! What happened!?’’
‘’Blood…loss…. Two weeks…. to live.’’ I sputtered.
Quickly she made her way to her bookshelf, looking under the ‘’healing spells’’ section and picked one up named: ‘’Healing: A Guide Book’’ and set it on the table, speedily looking under the letter B in the index.
‘’Aha, here it is.’’ She grinned with accomplishment as she read the passage.
It only took her a few seconds to read the entire three pages on the single spell and master the spell perfectly, using it on me for the first time. The feeling felt weird, I could feel all the fresh, new blood rushing all throughout my body and rejuvenating it. I was feeling better in a few seconds. I had wondered why the hospital didn’t use this spell on me, but quickly remembered how much Twilight knew about magic. I saw this as a very corny moment, for I had wanted Twilight to guide me to this giant creature or something so I COULD die in an awesome fight, but instead this happened.
I wasn’t whining about it though because I was alive, but I just figured it wouldn’t be so simple to continue my life as it was before.
About a month had passed, me and Kevin accepting our pony lives and starting to forget about our real lives on Earth, already getting comfortable with our new families in Equestria.
And Hearts and Hooves day was here, which was ironically was the exact same day as Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day was my birthday, but only Kevin had known, or so I thought. I found out about bits being the currency of Equestria when I was wanted to pay a hospital bill. Due to the fact that they really didn’t help me, Princess Celestia had called off the debt, saying Twilight did all the work, and the hospital gave up all hope on me, so it was as if it never happened.
Anyways, It was Hearts and Hooves day, and I wanted to get some money to take Rainbow and Kevin out to eat at a fancy restraunt, as a thank you for their help when I needed it. I had planned this dinner a while back ago, but I had no idea that it would be Hearts and Hooves day. But I knew that some ponies would call in sick to enjoy this day, so I found that as a great opportunity. And luckily, Derpy had called in sick, so they needed someone to carry out all the cards and letters sent to other ponies. As soon as I was informed of this, I immediately took the job. I was amazed at how many cards were sent to the Mane Six Team; a little over a hundred for each pony, Fluttershy having the most. No wonder why Derpy had called in sick.
I began delivering the letters from the least to the most, leaving the Mane Six Team last, so I could wait out on the many trips of delivering a hundred cards to each of them. At last I had delivered all the small card bundles and was ready for the Mane Six Team. I had chose to deliver Applejack’s letters first, because of how close to Sweet Apple Acres I was.
I knocked on Applejack’s stall.
‘’Well, howdy Kola, good ‘t see ya, what could ah d’ ya for?’’
‘’Well, I have a crap load of Hearts and Hooves day cards here for you.’’ I said, handing her the huge pile of envelopes.
‘’Ya made all these?’’
‘’Well, n-‘’
‘’Ah didn’t know you were such a romantic...’’
‘’What? I-‘’
‘’It’s okay, ya don’t need ‘t feel embarrassed, I actually think it’s cute that ya would go out of your way ‘t become a mail-stallion just to get me ‘t like you.’’
‘’But I didn-‘’
‘’Well, ya didn’t even need ‘t try…’’ Applejack whispered before kissing me on the cheek.
‘’Well, okay! I guess that will be all of the letters! See you later!’’ I said nervously as I ran to deliver the rest of the cards.
‘’Jesus Christ that was awkward, but oddly quick.’’ I muttered as I walked to Rarity’s boutique.
I made my way to the door, when I was quickly dragged inside before I knocked. Sweetie Belle had pinned me down on the ground with an upset face.
‘’You better stay away from my sister! We don’t need a lover boy like you to ruin our fun!’’
‘’What, no! I just need to deliver thes-‘’
‘’SWEETIE BELLE! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?’’
‘’This guy was trying to get you to be his date!’’
‘’WHAT!? I DIDN’T EVE-‘’
‘’Well that’s no reason to go around messing with him! Maybe I wanted him to ask me! Did you ever think of THAT?’’
‘’WHAT’S GOING ON!?’’ I yelled at the suddenness of everything.
‘’I’m sorry, sis, I just don’t want anyone to replace me…’’
‘’Oh, Sweetie Belle, nopony could EVER replace family. Go on upstairs, I need to settle this.’’
‘’Okay, sis.’’ Sweetie Belle said as she went upstairs.
‘’I’m so sorry about that, I didn’t think Sweetie would act up so much..’’ Rarity said as I got up.
‘’That’s alright, I just needed to deliver th-‘’
‘’Oh, you can throw those cards away, I just figured out who I wanted to be my perfect stallion, anyways.’’ Rarity said as she winked at me.
‘’Um, okay? I guess I should go, now..’’I said nervously as I headed towards the door.
‘’Wait.’’
‘’What?’’
‘’I need you to send a message to my perfect stallion for me.’’
‘’uh, okay, what is it?’’ I asked, feeling VERY uncomfortable.
Rarity then walked over to me and kissed me until she said ‘’you’re my perfect stallion..’’
I didn’t know what to do so I just walked out and said ‘’Have a nice day!’’ very quickly and headed for Twilight’s house.
‘’Is this day cursed or what? This is getting very weird for me.’’ I murmured as I knocked on the door of Twilight’s house.
‘’What do you want?’’ Spike asked impatiently.
‘’Well, I have some Hearts and Hooves day cards here..’’
‘’Just put ‘em in the corner, we’ve been getting them all day.’’ Spike grunted, pointing to a dusty corner littered with cards.
‘’Huh, that’s a lota cards..’’
‘’Yup, and they won’t stop.’’
‘’SPIIIIKE! WHO WAS AT THE DOOR?’’Twilight called.
‘’IT’S JUST KOLA!’’
Twilight didn’t respond back, instead, she came down from her bedchambers and greeted me with a welcoming smile and a ‘’how’s it going?’’
‘’Fine, I’m just tryin’ to earn money by delivering these cards.’’ I said, pointing a hoof at the dusty, old cards.
‘’Why are there so many cards?’’
‘’I don’t know, but tons of cards have been sent to you and the others, I’ve already sent the cards to Applejack and Rarity, but their reaction were…odd.’’
‘’Odd how?’’ Twilight asked, intrigued at what I had to say.
‘’Well, first off, Applejack thought that I was pretending to be a mail mare, or mail stallion , or whatever just to get me to like her, sending the cards to her personally. Then Rarity said I was her ‘’perfect stallion’’ for some reason.’’
‘’Well, I wouldn’t see why they WOULDN’T get you to like them.’’ Twilight said softly.
‘’Well, now this is getting kind of annoying.’’ I said under my breath.
‘’OKAY! I guess I’m done here, so I’ll just get going.’’ I said as I left.
Halfway to Pinkie’s I thought to myself,
‘’I never thought I would hear myself say this, but I wish I was friend-zoned. I mean, why would they want ME anyways? You’d figure that they would answer the cards and letters sent to them if they wanted a date or anything like that. Being just friends is way better.’’
I knocked on the door and was instantly welcomed by Pinkie who yelled ‘’surprise!’’ in my ear as loud as she could. She had had a party thrown for my birthday. ‘’Oh, yeah, I forgot it was my birthday.’’ I said to myself.
‘’Happy birthday! Were you surprised!?’’ Pinkie cried.
‘’How did you know about my birthday?’’
‘’Oh, you silly filly! I know everypony’s birthdays! C’mon! let’s party!’’ Pinkie said, running to the cake.
‘’Wait, so it’s just us?’’ I asked.
‘’Well, I had invited all of Ponyville, but they all said they had plans!’’
I sat down on a chair, muttering to myself.
‘’I know it’s Hearts and Hooves day, but even during holidays I would go to birthday parties. Why didn’t anyone else come? Not even Kevin or Rainbow came…’’ I pouted.
Pinkie noticed me and came hopping over.
‘’What’s wrong?’’
‘’Nobody even came to my party.’’
‘’But I did! And we both can have an awesome party, just the two of us!’’
‘’Well, of course you are here, you set up the party.’’
‘’Exactly! I set it up! For YOU!’’
I quickly forgot about my current emotions for I remembered I had a job to do, so I handed her the cards.
‘’What are these? Decorations?’’
‘’No, they’re Hearts and Hooves day cards, I forgot I was just supposed to deliver them.’’
She scanned the cards in curiosity and I made my way to the door, remaining letters lessening in the saddle bag.
‘’Oh! Don’t forget to take some cake!’’ she said handing me a slice of cake.
‘’Thanks Pinkie, you’re a great friend.’’ I said as I hugged her.
‘’Aw, it’s what I’m here to do!’’ she said as she hugged me back, her cheeks developing a crimson red across them.
I was actually surprised at how Pinkie had known my birthday, though, ‘cause I knew only Kevin knew, and Kevin had almost never talked to Pinkie. I was grateful that she had thrown me a party, though. I had pondered over how information of my birthday leaked, until my face met Fluttershy’s door.
I didn’t need to knock, for my face did that for me, and the door had opened to reveal Angel, instead of Fluttershy. Angel had a frightened look on his face and quickly signaled me to follow him. He had led me to the entrance of the Ever Free forest. My joy and happiness instantly switched places with fear and worry, for Angel was most likely telling me Fluttershy was stuck in the forest.
I flew overhead and heard a yelp in the middle of the forest. I quickly zoomed down to investigate and saw Fluttershy in a corner, cuddling a bunny. I turned around to see five timber wolves sprinting towards her. I grabbed her and set off to fly, but my wing got slashed before I went airborne, causing me to have a hard time gliding through the forest. My wing lost a feather during the flight, causing me to crash in a tree. When my vision had returned, I noticed Fluttershy’s house wasn’t very far away, and the wolves weren’t, either.
I told Fluttershy to run, while I stood my ground against the Timberwolves. Then I realized, this was just like a movie. I was probably going to die, but I was going to die as I wanted to: an epic battle to the death. I made sure that Fluttershy was far away before I started kickin’ ass, because I knew how close to animals she was, but once she made it, all hell broke loose.
The first wolf tried to pounce me, but before it did, I denied him with a swift buck to the face, causing him to whimper. Then two of them took different sides while another leaped in the air and swiped my face. I felt the blood flowing freely from my wound, which only increased MY wanting for blood, quickly kicking back the wolves as they tried to land another hit on me.
The wolves had started to be more tactical with every swipe, either coming at me in pairs or defending themselves. I was relentless, feeling more and more adrenaline being pumped through my body every single hit I delivered.
But unfortunately, the excessive wounds being engraved into my body eventually got to me, causing me to retreat to higher ground, but as I began to liftoff, a Timberwolf bit my leg, causing me to yelp in pain. I did not have a death wish, I would have just preferred my death to be in battle; and that’s exactly what I was getting. The Timberwolves’ forces had grown with every painful kick I delivered, and I soon realized I was no match for the inevitable slaughter soon to come.
I had fought a tough battle, and later on the Timberwolves’ forces began to dwindle, so they all made a hasty retreat, leaving me on the soft grass of the Ever Free forest to bleed out. I hadn’t realized the extent of my injuries until I was focused on them, and they had ‘’inevitable death’’ written all over them.
I felt really sleepy as I got up, and I felt oddly comfortable, despite the condition is was in. I wanted to just fall right back down and go to sleep, but I knew I had to get help beforehand, ‘cause if I was to fall asleep, I would never see the next day.
My vision was really blurry and it was hard to keep my balance, and about halfway to Fluttershy’s house, I felt I could go on no longer. I rested under a nearby tree and looked at my saddlebag; the cake was still in perfect condition, slightly poking out from the bag, looking quite nice. It was a vanilla cake, frosting covering the outer layer of it, rainbow-colored sprinkles lightly dashed around it.
‘’Heh, Rainbow Sprinkles Dash.’’ I snorted.
I looked back at the cake and saw the plate it was sitting on inscribed with the words ‘’HAPPY BIRTHDAY!’’
‘’Yeah, happy birthday to me.’’ I laughed softly.
I felt my eyelids begin to feel heavy, and I started to shut my eyes. Before I fell asleep, I saw a quick glimpse of several different-colored hooves racing towards me, then everything went dark.
So.
Very.
….Dark.
‘’There he is!’’ I called out desperately as I pointed to Damian.
The image was one I could never forget.
‘’Oh my sweet Celestia…’’ Rarity whispered as she held a hoof over her mouth in disbelief.
‘’He died. On his own birthday…’’
How could have this happened? Only a few days here and he’s already DEAD!? Why!? What’s gonna happen!? All of this, it just can’t be, IT CAN’T BE-
