Chapter 1
“Now as you can see, two atoms of the same element have different numbers of neutrons. So in order for you figure out the number of neutrons the atom has, you must first figure out the mass number.” Discord explained to his class as wrote on his chalkboard. Yep, another day in Discord’s chemistry class. He’s a very “interesting” man to say the least, especially when we do class experiments, with Principle’s permission that is, which is a bit concerning because he seems to enjoy it when it ends in a disaster, like that volcano incident that happened before. As he would quote, “There’s nothing wrong with having a little chaos in life.”
Anyways, among his class was you taking notes on the lesson. However, you were having a bit of trouble cause something that has been bothering for a while. A bad memory you have been trying to forget, but no matter what, it always crawl it way back and its been taking a bit of a toll on you. You had difficult times sleeping at night, you became distant to the people around you, and you rarely come out of your house nowadays except when you need to go to school.
What’s worse are the anxiety attacks. Every once in a while the memory comes back at full force, causing you to go in a state of panic, which is the main reason why you stay at your house. You didn’t want people to see you in such a state. You tried taking therapy for a few months, but even that didn’t make much of a difference. You sighed as you pinch the bridge of your nose, wanting this mental torture to end.
Just then, the bell rang, signaling the end of school. So you started packing their things along with the other students in the classroom getting ready to leave. As you were about to exit out the door, Discord called for you. “Excuse me, Anon. Before you leave, May I have a word with you?” You were a bit hesitant about his request but stayed while the other students left. Some took a glance at you wondering what you did.
Soon, you and Discord were all alone in his classroom as you sat across from him at his desk and waited for him to say what he wants to say. “Now Anon,” Discord started, “First off, you're not in trouble, I just wanted to talk about something.”
“What is it?” you asked, curious to what this is about.
“Your behavior,” Discord replied, making you raised an eyebrow. “Granted that it didn’t affect your grades much, it is a bit concerning. I remembered back then, you were a more cheerful student, socializing with others, and participating in different school events. But for the longest time now, you’ve been very distant from everyone, as if your trying to make yourself invisible. And I’m not the only one who noticed. Some of the other staff members are also worried about you. Mind if I ask what’s going on?”
You almost tensed up visibly when he asked. A part of the memory flashed in your mind. You tried to keep calm as you think of an excuse. “I’m just going through some stuff.”
“What kind of stuff?” Discord raised an eyebrow.
“Personal stuff.”
He can tell that you don’t want to talk about it, but can also understand that whatever this “personal stuff” is, its really bothering you. He sighed, “ Well, I won’t force you to tell me, But you should really talk to someone about it. I sure anyone here is willing to help with whatever you're going through.”
“I’ll... think about it.” He nodded and let you leave. By now, the halls were mostly empty, so you didn’t have to worry about bumping into anyone while you’re in thought about Discord’s advice. ‘Talk to someone?’ you thought to yourself, ‘If the therapists couldn’t do much, then who am I suppose to talk to? I doubt anyone can help with my “problem.”’ You continued walking down the hall until you round the corner. Unfortunately, there was another person who was coming around the corner, and you didn’t notice until you bumped into this said person causing you both to fall on your butts.
“Hey, do you mind watching where you’re going?” the person said with a feminine voice, letting you know that this person was a female.
“Sorry,” you apologized as sat up and looked at this person, “I was distracted with…” However, you paused as you recognized the person in front of you. You knew her purple pigtails with turquoise highlights held together by silver hairpins. She was one of the people who tried to take over the school, and possibly the whole world. If you remembered right, her name was Aria Blaze.”
“Distracted with what?” Aria said as she too sat up and looked at you. She then started examining you up and down as if she’s seen you before.
A hint of fear was shown on your face as you kept repeating the same plead in your head, ‘Please don’t recognize me. Please don’t recognize me. Please don’t recognize me. Please don’t recognize me.’
“Wait, Anon?” she asked, finally realizing who you are. That's when you quickly got up and bolted away from her. “Hey, wait!”
As you kept running, you heard rapid footsteps behind you, letting you know that Aria was chasing you. You didn’t bother looking to see how far or how close she was; you just kept running. ‘I gotta lose her somehow’ you thought as you round the corner. You then spot the school’s janitor closet, which could be your best bet. On rare occasions, the janitor would forget to lock the closet before leaving. Hopefully, this is one of those occasions.
You needed to act quick cause you can hear her footsteps closing in, so you went over to the door and grabbed the knob. You prayed to anyone listening before twisting it, and by some miracle, the janitor has once again forgotten to lock the closet allow you to get in and closed the door quickly, just in time for Aria to come around the same corner. You kept a hold on the knob on the other side in case she tries to check the closet. Which was something you wished she wouldn’t do, but unfortunately you felt the turn a little before you tighten your grip. “Anon?” she called out from the other side before knocking on the door, but you remained quiet, “Anon, come out. I’m not going to hurt you. I just wanna talk.” You didn’t listen nor would you believe her, you just wanted her to go away. “Ugh, dammit,” she said as she gave up as she walked away.
However, as you heard her footsteps get lower and lower in volume, you didn’t calm down. Instead, you fell to your knees as your breathing became heavy and your heart started racing. ‘This is bad,’ you thought in panic, ‘this is really bad! If Aria’s back then that means that the other two are back too, especially… her.’ You started to go through another anxiety attack, but this one felt worst than before as the memories rushed back into your head. Memories of what happened back then. Of what happened to you. Of what she’s done to you.
