The Spell and Scootaloo's Freakout
“Uh... Twilight, why are we here?” Applejack asked. “Ya haven’t told us, so ah had ta tell Apple Bloom and Big Mac that ah had no idea when - and if ah - would come back.”
“I’m sure everything will be just fine.” Fluttershy said.
“And if it isn’t then maybe we’ll swap cutie marks again! Ooh, ooh! Or bodies! Or pony types!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed. “Being a pegasus could be cool!”
“Pinkie, calm down.” Twilight said. “This spell is supposed to be a temporary age spell. It will only last a couple of hours... unless somepony distracts me.”
“I already Pinkie Promised that I wouldn’t!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed. “I’ll do it again if I have to!”
“And I will too.” Rainbow Dash said.
Both of the mares did the motions of the promise as they said, “Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye!”
Twilight nodded, hovering the spellbook in front of her. “Let’s see...”
Give me the naivety of a filly,
the joy and obliviousness,
the thought that I can do anything.
Twilight’s horn glowed, as Starlight opened the door. “Twilight?”
Twilight’s horn glowed brighter, as she and the other five ponies were all absorbed in a bright light.
Twilight’s student backed out of the room as the light faded, revealing six fillies.
Pinkie Pie was the first to bounce awake. “That was fun! Let’s do it again!”
Twilight tried to hover the book. She barely could, but after a few attempts, hovered it up. “Oh no... I think that Starlight distracted me!”
Twilight looked at her flank and gasped. “My cutie mark! The spell was supposed to make us fillies, but with our cutie marks! Oh... And without my cutie mark, I don’t have enough magic to recast the spell!”
“And your wings are missing too, so...” Pinkie Pie made an awkward smile.
“I don’t have my wings?! That means I don’t have my alicorn magic!”
“Oh no, she’s Twilighting.” Rainbow Dash sighed. “I’mma just... Maybe the Crusaders can help us?”
“Sweetie Belle and her friends? Rainbow, darling, did the spell make you... sorry if this seems rude... dumber?” Rarity asked. “They could barely take care of Pound and Pumpkin Cake when Pinkie needed them to.”
“They could!” Pinkie exclaimed.
Rainbow rolled her eyes. “Anypony want to come with me to get Scoots and the others?”
“Ooh, me me me!” Pinkie exclaimed.
“I guess I could go to... If that’s okay with you...” Fluttershy said.
“Of course Flutters! C’mon!” Rainbow dashed out of the castle.
“Rainbow Dash?” Scootaloo looked out the window of the clubhouse, flying down. “Why are you a filly exactly?”
“One of Twilight’s spells went wrong.” Rainbow said simply.
“Did it affect AJ and Rarity too? Ah’m gonna guess the answer’s yes.” Apple Bloom said.
“It did alright!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed. “Twilight can’t figure out how reverse the spell though because it regressed her back to being a unicorn and we don’t have our cutie marks.”
“Maybe we can help you get your cutie marks!” Scootaloo exclaimed.
“Yeah!” Sweetie Belle exclaimed. “On the count of three Crusaders!”
“1!”
“2!”
“3!”
”CUTIE MARK CRUSADER BIG SISTER HELPERS, YAY!”
Rainbow Dash flew into the castle. “Twilight! Rarity! Applejack! We got the CMCs!”
Twilight and Rarity were trying to figure out how to fix the spell - although Rarity kept getting distracted by Applejack trying to fancy up her mane.
"Ah might as well. Mah filly brain wants me ta, but mah adult brain doesn't but mah filly brain's overpowerin' it." she explained.
"Perfect!" Twilight exclaimed. She got startled by Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom teleporting in.
"Sweetie Belle, darling!" Rarity ran over to her sister. "Are you bigger or am I shorter? Twilight, I think we might be younger then Sweetie Belle and her friends!"
"Oh no oh no oh no..." Twilight started pacing.
"Is somepony going to help her?" Sweetie Belle asked. Rainbow shrugged.
After helping her stop Twilighting, Twilight managed to get ahold of herself.
"Okay... We're going to have to work this out until we're old enough to get our cutie marks." Twilight said. "Because we were the Crusaders' age when we got them, and we seem to be a year or two younger then them."
"Well I actually don't know all of your birthdays!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed. "So spill the beans! What are they?"
"Pinkie, your birthday's May 3rd..." Rainbow said. "Everypony knows that. Anyways, mine's April 15."
"Mine is too..." Fluttershy murmured.
The other mares agreed they were all born April 15th.
"Well I nicknamed myself Pinkie Pie April 15th so I guess I'll call that my birthday!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed.
"So do we celebrate all of your birthdays on April 15th or Pinkie's May 3rd and everypony else's on April 15th?" Scootaloo asked.
The other Crusaders shrugged.
"Wait do we have to go to school?" Rainbow groaned.
"Well you're younger then us so... Maybe... We can ask Cheerilee about that." Sweetie Belle said.
"My twin sister and you want to ask her about teaching us? Hey Cheerilee, Twilight and her friends became fillies and are a year or two younger then us, do they need to go to school? Oh, so I'll be teaching my twin sister?" Rainbow said. "UGH!"
She flew onto a bookshelf and perched on it.
"Wait... Cheerilee is your sister?! Why did you never tell me! She's my sister too!" angry tears streamed down Scootaloo's face. "Did you not think I could handle the truth or something?! What in Celestia's flank were you thinking not telling me?! That means we are related! I would've been honored to be sisters with you Dash, in a way that isn't just being your adopted sister! But I guess you didn't trust me enough to tell me! I'm not a little filly! If anypony is right now, it's you!"
Scootaloo ran out of the library, as Sweetie Belle ran after her. "Scoots!!!"
"Looks like you have somepony to apologize to." Applejack said. Rainbow Dash sighed and flew out of the library to find Scoots.
Author's Note
There's a part that's kinda gross so sorry 'bout that. It's not blood or anything it's just kind of gross if you think about it. But it goes by pretty quick, but it's mostly comedic. Just be warned.
I might just put it here:
"Weird. I feel like I could poop or pee at any moment even though I could control that when I was this age." Rainbow Dash answered. Sweetie Belle had a face that just said one word - "ew".
Comforting Scootaloo
Rainbow Dash flew through Ponyville looking for Scootaloo. She got a few odd looks but ignored it.
I'm sorry Scoots... she silently said, putting her hoof on her heart. I should've told you...
Why didn't she? Was she worried Scoots couldn't handle the truth? She was a strong filly, she could handle it! Or did Rainbow Dash just not think it was worth it?
She heard sobs and saw a green shield surrounding an orange pegasus filly and a white unicorn filly.
She flew down and landed in front of the shield.
"Scoots?" Rainbow Dash asked. "I don't know if you can hear me, but... Sigh... I'm sorry, okay? I should've told you. I don't know why. I guess I just thought that you knew already and that Cheerilee told you, but... I guess you deserve the truth. While I was at Junior Flight Camp, you were born. I came home to see you, and after a few years, me and Cheers were foalsitting you. We got into an argument and I got so angry I just took you away. I left you at Fluttershy's and a few months or days or weeks - I don't know how long - later Cheerilee took you home and... I couldn't stop feeling like a horrible sister. When I saw you for the first time I knew you were my sister and I was just acting too arrogant. I'm sorry. For everything."
Rainbow Dash didn't notice but she was crying with her eyes shut. She opened them and saw Scootaloo hugging her.
"It's okay..." there was an awkward pause, "sis."
Rainbow Dash wiped a tear away. Geez I haven't cried since I was a filly. Oh wait... I am one.
"Well let's get back to the others." Rainbow Dash said. She motioned to her back but Scootaloo reminded her that she was the smaller one. "Oh... right..."
So Scootaloo was giving Rainbow Dash and Sweetie Belle a ride back.
"So... What's it like being a filly again?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"Weird. I feel like I could poop or pee at any moment even though I could control that when I was this age." Rainbow Dash answered. Sweetie Belle had a face that just said one word - "ew".
"Yep." Rainbow said. "What's it like having your older sister be your younger sister?"
"Like you said, weird. I'm not even old enough to do, like, anything! I'm still a pre-teen!" Sweetie Belle exclaimed. "I can't take care of a filly!"
"She can take care of herself Sweets." Scootaloo said, looking back. "She has - at least somewhat - the mind of a mare."
"That's right - somewhat! She won't even be all the way matured until she gets her cutie mark..." she quickly added, "again."
Rainbow Dash nodded, before looking at her flank. Not having her cutie mark was weird. And she probably wouldn't have it for a few years, unless she somehow performed a Sonic Rainboom when she was, like... six.
"Ah hope Scoots is okay." Rainbow Dash heard Applejack say as they approached.
"Well," Rainbow Dash exclaimed as they flew in, "I'm okay! And she is too!"
"That's good!" Rarity exclaimed. "Apple Bloom said you three might go ask Cheerilee about letting us go to school."
"Okay! We'll go do that! C'mon guys!" Scootaloo exclaimed, flying out the window. Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom followed.
