Sure she had her moments of full blown confidence but they are very few and far between. Stuff like that was more to kin to Rainbow Dash and her over confidence in herself which isn't a bad thing but it has gotten Rainbow Dash in trouble a few times. If Fluttershy had even a third of Rainbow’s over confidence she could do so much more. But that never stopped anyone from asking Fluttershy for favors or anything else. Including discord who was currently doing his normal thing in her house at that moment. “Fluttershy you must simply try this lava tea. It's better than you think it is hehhe” discord giggled. Fluttershy came out of the kitchen to find her living room was covered in lava that somehow wasn't burning up her cottage. Good thing she let all of her animals outside before discord came. Despite the chaos Fluttershy always enjoyed Discord's company. “Discord, you know you have to clean this stuff up when you leave right?” Fluttershy asked while walking over the lava. She knew Discord wouldn't actually make it hot or else he would have been in big trouble. She finally managed to get to her couch that was suddenly suspended in mid air above the lava. Discord joined Fluttershy on the couch and the two sat there drinking tea for a few minutes in the sound of lava moving. The sound was calming and actually paying attention to it could make one fall asleep. Nobody would actually do that but the idea was kind of nice in a weird kind of way. Among the peace and the quiet came a knock on the door of Fluttershy’s cottage. She wasn't expecting any guests so this had to be interesting. With an very visible annoyed snap with his fingers Discord put everything back to normal. “Don't worry, Discord we can go back to that after I'm done with this ok?” Fluttershy said with her smile that Discord came to like after while. Discord gave her a annoyed nod but she knew that Discord was happy to hear her promise. With that Fluttershy went to her door, opened it up to find Princess Celestia standing in the sunlight. “Oh, Princess Celestia! I wasn't expecting you today. P-please come in” Fluttershy said nervously. What could the Princess want with her? Did Fluttershy do something wrong? “Thank you, Fluttershy. Hello there, Discord I hope this day is finding you well” the princess calmly said. There was nothing in her tone that signified any danger or worry. But that only made Fluttershy more nervous about Celestia's visit. Normally the Princesses do not show up to anyone's home unless something has gone extremely wrong. Celestia was wearing her normal dress so there was no battle taking place. Celestia took her seat next to Discord Fluttershy took her seat across from them. Truth be told seeing Celestia and Discord on the same couch together was kind of funny considering the history between the two. “So, Princess Celestia may I ask why you are here?” Fluttershy asked. At first Celestia did not say anything. In fact by the expression on her face the Princess was fighting something in her own head. Discord could see it to but wanted Celestia to speak first. “I--I'm sorry, Fluttershy.” Celestia voiced anxiously. Ok-- that was a red flag. Celestia looked down to floor, put her hands together and twiddle her thumbs. Another red flag certainly. Then Celestia sighed to calm herself down. What was she so on edge about? “.. Fluttershy, you are one of the most bravest Ponies Equestria has ever known. On Equestria’s behalf I came here to-- ask you for your service for a very important case or mission as it would be” Celestia claimed. Fluttershy looked at Discord who in turn was just as confused as she was. “Important mission” she said what could be so important that she would ask Fluttershy of all Ponies. Celestia knew Rainbow Dash or Pinkie Pie would've just said yes without know any of the important facts and details. So why not ask them instead? Hell, even Twilight would take the chance to impress Princess Celestia again even tho she wouldn't need to. “You don't do cryptic messages, Celestia. So this has to good from a entertainment perspective haha!” Discord mocked. Fluttershy didn't like the mocking but she had to agree with Discord on this one. “Princess, just please tell me what you have on your mind. I'm willing to hear you out” Fluttershy softly proclaimed. The Princess looked up at Fluttershy and gave her a soft smile and a nod as a reply. However again Celestia was nervous about the words that were supposed to be coming out of from her mouth. “T-t-there’s no easy way for me to say this but here's here's goes nothing. Fluttershy-- I would.. Like.. You to use your skills in helping a Pony who's in deep trouble” Celestia said. She watched Fluttershy’s attention switch from her to Discord. She didn't care what Discord had to say on the matter. But Celestia knew Fluttershy cared deeply. She watched Fluttershy nod to Discord. “What do you mean by “helping”, Celestia?” Discord's tone was harsh but he meant well. He would do absolutely anything to protect Fluttershy from harm. And Celestia's message wasn't exactly helping her at the moment. “Reformation like what she did with you, Discord” Celestia replied. That peaked Discord's interest. With that peaked interest Discord snapped his fingers and some popcorn appeared in front of him. “This should be good. Who's Fluttershy’s next victim then hmm?” Discord questioned while taking a few bites of the popcorn. His chewing was loud and annoying until Fluttershy’s eyes told him to stop with her saying anything. Again Celestia signed “.. King Sombra..” Discord and Fluttershy literally froze in place. Time figuratively froze. Did they hear that name correctly? King Sombra-- that King Sombra? The very same one who tried to take over the Crystal Empire and hurt everyone in his way? That King Sombra?! Celestia could see the amount of mixed emotions in Fluttershy’s face. “I know this may come as a major shock to you Fluttershy. I'm willing to explain the situation if you will hear me out” Celestia calmly voiced. Fluttershy slowly nodded. Celestia gave Fluttershy time to calm herself down from the panic and shock of hearing Sombra was somehow still alive. “Me and Luna found him in the frozen cold mountains of Crystal Empire. He was weak, beaten, and low on magic. We couldn't just leave him there so we took in and healed him back to moderate health. Of course he didn't want anything to do with us since.. You know. But anyway we tried to everything we could do to help him but he only wants one thing” Celestia finished. “That thing is what exactly?” Fluttershy asked curiously with a raised eyebrow. “Execution.” Celestia said without hesitation. Again Fluttershy froze. “H-he.. Wants..-” “So do it then” Discord interrupted. Discord's voice showed no mercy towards the situation. “Honestly, Princess I don't know why you're here you could've just-” “DISCORD!” Fluttershy yelled. That shocked both of her guests. “Let me please hear the Princess out before you anything else please!” Fluttershy said directly staring into Discord's eyes. To Celestia's surprise Discord actually kept quiet. When he did that Fluttershy turned her attention back to Celestia. “I'm sorry, Princess Celestia please continue.” “Uh right well-- you see, Fluttershy I believe you are the only Pony in Equestria that can make King Sombra live a peaceful life instead of one pure hate. When I look into his eyes I see a Pony crying out for some kind help. I know we can't erase all the hate he has for me and Luna but I can't stand seeing a soul crying out for help and getting nothing for it” Celestia said with passionest undertone. Fluttershy noticed how hard Celestia was holding her hands together. The Princess did actually want to help Sombra from the bottom of her heart. “Princess Celestia, I believe you. However, Why me? Why not Rainbow Dash? Pinkie Pie? Or Twilight?” Fluttershy asked. Celestia shook her head “Your friends would crack under the pressure.” Without recognizing she actually did it; Fluttershy stood up “Excuse me, Princess?!” Fluttershy angrily voiced. Celestia put her hands up defensively. “Please understand, Fluttershy I don't mean they are weak. Far from it. I'm simply saying that when it gets to a point things will get heated and your will friends would step out of the Kitchen” Celestia replied. Celestia watched Fluttershy shake her head in disbelief. “Prove it, Prove to me that my friends would stop” Fluttershy said while holding her fist to her chest. Celestia was actually glad Fluttershy said that. This caused Celestia to smile. “The proof is standing or rather sitting right next to me, my little pony” Celestia replied. Fluttershy stopped and looked at Discord who was sitting there paying attention to this conversation. “You have a God of chaos wrapped around your fingers. Your best friends with a potential Dragon Lord in Spike. Your human half saved one of my best students in Sunset Shimmer. But most importantly, Fluttershy, you have a gift for healing the sick. I believe you can use that power for healing King Sombra.” Celestia did speak the truth and the attempt stroke Fluttershy’s ego seemed to work a little bit. Princess Celestia is correct when she said those things. However I still feel like I'm not the right Pony for this-- there has to be… N..No..There really isn't anyone else is there? Oh well… Fight the fear I guess. But wait there's a few details I'm missing about this Fluttershy thought to herself. Celestia never really seen Fluttershy in deep thought like this. It was something to behold. But just in case, Celestia prepared herself for any questions Fluttershy might have. “What does Princess Luna have to say about this?” Fluttershy questioned. Celestia actually liked the fact Fluttershy was taking the time to ask the correct questions. “It took some convincing but I eventually got her to go along with this plan. Trust me when I say it wasn't easy” Celestia replied truthfully. Fluttershy nodded but Celestia knew there was more questions coming. “Do I have a time limit?” “No you do not. We would never do that to you, Fluttershy” Celestia smiled at her. This put Fluttershy’s mind at ease. But she still had one more question. “I'm assuming that If I fail-” “You won't fail. You won't come even close to that” the amount of confidence Celestia spoke with put Fluttershy in a tough position. She has this much hope in me? She actually believes I won't fail.. But what if I do.. No.. No.. If Princess Celestia believes I won't fail then I won't fail! Fluttershy sighed deeply “Princess Celestia, I-- I'll try my best help him” Fluttershy spoke with vigor. In a unexpected move the Princess jumped up with joy and hugged Fluttershy so tightly that it started to hurt. “Princess too-- tight!” Fluttershy painfully said. “Um.. Oops sorry, Fluttershy. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for taking this on. And I promise you your reward will be the best thing of your life” Celestia promised. Fluttershy rubbed the back of her head thinking about what to say next. The thought of the reward never really crossed her mind until Celestia mentioned it. But there's no time to worry about it now. “So.. When do I start, Princess?” Fluttershy questioned while crossing her arms. “When do you think You're ready?” Celestia responded. Fluttershy looked around her cottage she worried about her animals and what about her friends? Luckily the Princess already had Fluttershy covered. “Don't worry about it, Fluttershy I'll send over the best animal caretakers in Equestria to take care of your cottage. As for your friends I'll let them know about your doing and besides you'll be able to send them letters to” Celestia said happily. It was Fluttershy turns to get jumpy with a little joy. Then Fluttershy ran out of the living room to prepare but then came back just as quickly. “I forgot to ask but I figured I have to stay in the castle for a while don't I?” Fluttershy asked. Celestia nodded although she didn't want to. Fluttershy didn't seem to mind that fact which put Celestia's mind at ease. When Fluttershy went back up to her bedroom Celestia finally noticed the pissed off aura coming from Discord. “If you think I'm letting my best friend go through with this you are out of your mind, Celestia” Celestia turned to Discord and to say he wanted hit Celestia would be a massive understatement. “Discord we're friends right? Or whatever your definition of a “friend” is. All I'm asking is that you trust me on this one. She's a strong Pony and I believe in her. You should to” Celestia voiced strongly. “I trust Fluttershy. It's you and Sombra who I Don't trust. Do you really think I'm a fool Celestia? You still-” Discord's statement got interrupted Celestia's magic. She had Discord by throat. It was Celestia's turn to get angry. “If you finish that sentence I swear I'll kill you!?” Celestia voiced viciously. Those words meant nothing to Discord as he was forced to chuckle at them. This only made Celestia tighten her grip. “You couldn't do it with the elements, Princess. What hope do you have without them hmm?” Discord mocked. As a response Celestia would bring Discord's ear to her mouth. “I never needed the elements you idiot. All I need to do is endlessly burn you I think you know what I mean by that don't you, Sweetie?” Just to scare Discord Celestia licked his ear and bit it hard. Discord jumped back in fear. He knew what those singles meant and he didn't want to deal with her again. To add on top of that Celestia right eye was cat like and bright orange. Celestia calmed down quickly and she went back to normal. “Woah hehehe sorry about that, Discord. Didn't mean to scare you like that. However I'm dead serious about this and I hope you understand that” Celestia said calmly while looking away from Discord. “Yeah.. Yeah.. I got it.. However if she even gets the slightest bit of a scar anywhere on her body-” “I'll look forward to our fight then” Celestia finished. As if on cue Fluttershy came down from her bedroom with a suitcase full of clothes and other things she needed. Celestia and Discord felt Fluttershy’s determination radiating off her. It was awesome to see that this cute shy Pony was actually ready to take this mission on. “Princess Celestia, before we go I have one condition you must abide by” Fluttershy said. Celestia didn't expect this but considering what Fluttershy was doing she would accept it. Fluttershy pointed at Discord and herself “If you two even think about hurting each other I'll punish you both” that was it. Fluttershy walked past a completely stunned Princess and God of chaos. She opened the door and left them both alone. Celestia and Discord looked at each other and genuinely laughed out loud. Not at the threat but at Fluttershy for actually have the balls to say it and mean it. “See, that's why she won't fail. That calm fire within her shines so bright when she turns it on. I just wish she would recognize that. Anyway duty calls I'll see you later, Discord. Come by for tea sometime this is gonna take a while I'm sure” Celestia voiced walking to the front door. “Yeah I'll do that. Just make sure she knows I said good luck” Discord replied. Celestia put up a thumbs-up and went outside. Fluttershy was already in the chairoit waiting for Celestia. She got on and they headed to Canterlot Castle. “Discord said goodbye and goodluck” Celestia said. “I left him a letter saying goodbye to him and that I'll be fine. There was a little portal in my room leading to his house so I dropped it off there. Hehehe he's gonna be surprised” Fluttershy’s giggle was intoxicating enough for Celestia to follow along with it. Fluttershy stood at the top of the staircase leading down into the Castle dungeon. There was no turning back now and when Fluttershy took the first step down Celestia's words washed over her. “All of us believes in you Fluttershy. Remember that and you won't fail” Fluttershy repeated over and over again until she the bottom of the staircase. There were two guards at the bottom of the stairs that escorted her to King Sombra’s cell. He was locked up in chains that didn't seem to stretch out very far. He saw the guards open up his cell what didn't expect was them walking back to where they came and leaving him and the mysterious mare behind. Even tho Sombra was laying down he still had this intimidating air around him. The general darkness around the dungeon didn't help either. This mysterious mare took two steps instead the cell and was instantly hit by dread. That feeling hugged her like a suit like that was too tight. Not even twenty seconds in and she's already sweating. It was pathetic to witness. this child can't be serious Sombra thought to himself. “H-hello t-t-there, Sombra. My name is F-F-Fluttersh-yy and I was assigned by Princess Celestia to help y-you” Fluttershy nervously said. Ok that was a good start at least. Fluttershy waited Sombra to say something but nothing came. He simply looked at her with his sharp bright red eyes that were certainly intimidating. Not to Sombra’s surprise, this mare continued to talk. “Are you hurt anywhere?” She asked curiously. Fluttershy tried to look for signs of Sombra hurting but since he was laying down in the darkest part of his cell it was a waste of effort. Was this innocent little child crazy? Why would anyone ask that to a prisoner especially to him? Why did she even care in the first place? Celestia must've not cared for this one at all. Fluttershy took one step forward towards Sombra. She was about to take another but then Sombra grunted. That actually scared Fluttershy just enough to make her freeze in her tracks. Yeah this mare was completely innocent almost too innocent. That meant she could be easily manipulated which was a very good thing for Sombra. “Princess Celestia.. Told me what happened.. I'm sorry they have you locked up like this. Can't be fun I imagine” Fluttershy solfy spoke. Again Sombra didn't speak. This was was gonna take a while and she wasn't leaving until she Sombra spoke at least a word. For the next hour or so Fluttershy tried to get Sombra to say something. Anything would do. But he simply refused to talk about anything. Fluttershy even sat down on dirty floors to make Sombra make comfortable. She only had a few ideas left before she to leave to come up with new ones to make him talk. That's when Fluttershy remembered something important; his execution. “Wait, King Sombra do you think I'm here to kill you?” Fluttershy recoiled at the word kill. She hated using it for very obvious reasons. “Yes” Sombra replied with no emotion behind it. Yes! He actually replied. Ok take it very slowly, Fluttershy don't lose this now “Why do you think that? If you don't mind me asking that is” Fluttershy voiced. She could feel Sombra’s eyes scanning her body for any hint of trouble. Sombra tried his hardest but couldn't find it and it kinda pissed him off. Was this Celestia's sick game? To send this innocent mare down here just to torture him? Well it was working and he had no choice but to play along. “Just get it over with already” Sombra demanded. When Fluttershy didn't move an inch he simply shook his head and rested his head on his arms no longer paying attention to the mare in front of him. If she actually decide to attack him he could handle it. The sound of quiet washed over him but that quickly went away when Fluttershy spoke up again. “I don't have the power to hurt anyone. Although you already know that by the way you looked at me. I'll leave for now since you're no longer interested in talking. Goodnight, King Sombra” Fluttershy respectfully stated. Fluttershy left the jail cell leaving King Sombra alone. He did not bother to watch her leave. Celestia what kind of game do you think you're playing at? This child is gonna get herself killed Sombra thought to himself. Author's Note I'm gonna have so much fun writing this story hehe~ hopefully you guys enjoy it. Chapter TwoView OnlineSaving the kingChapter Two“Well at the very least you got him to say something. That's good right?” “Yeah, but I feel like I didn't really accomplish anything at all. He just laid there looking at me like I'm silly for attempting to talk to him. I'm gonna have to “switch up my tactics,” as Pinkie would say” Fluttershy said to Princess Celestia. It was early the following morning from the start of Fluttershy’s mission. She found herself in Celestia's bedroom drinking her favorite, sweet tea. It woke her up from the nightmare that was figuring out how to get King Sombra to talk to her. “You said you tried for an hour right?” Princess Celestia asked while taking another sip of tea. “I tried asking asking him about everything you told me and nothing” Fluttershy voiced flatly. While staring into her almost empty cup, she kept running into dead-ends with various questions for Sombra. Fluttershy sighed with frustration. Celestia then magically held Fluttershy’s chin up to look at her warming smile “Do you want my opinion, Fluttershy?” Fluttershy’s timid nod was so innocent. “Well let's play a game. Pretend I'm King Sombra and ask any question that comes to mind. Don't ask one of the questions you asked yesterday ok?” Celestia asked softly. “Alright, Princess I can do that” Fluttershy replied. Fluttershy thought about the question she would ask. It was way harder than she anticipated since the same questions from yesterday kept popping up over again. It took a while but then she finally got her question. “Did you learn anything from our first meeting yesterday?” Celestia tilted her head and looked a bit confused. Why would Fluttershy ask that when she knew the answer? Oh well, gotta roll with it. “No. I didn't” Celestia's tone change from sweet and motherly to completely dead serious and deep. Instead of being scared Fluttershy was actually impressed and tried her hardest not to giggle at the sudden switch in tone of Celestia's voice. “I don't believe you” Fluttershy replied. “Well then that's your choice.” “It is. Just like it's your choice to lie to me for no reason right now” Fluttershy mentioned with a raised eyebrow. The Princess broke character and giggled “Calling a dark king a dirty lair to his face? You're getting bold there, Fluttershy. I knew it was right to pick you for this” Celestia said playfully. Fluttershy blushed and looked aways from the Princess “Was that too strong? Could I be lighter? C-” “No, it was just right in my opinion” Celestia interrupted. She could see the embarrassed expression of Fluttershy and couldn't help but be glad that she made the right decision. While Fluttershy was looking away Celestia re-filled her tea cup. It was a small reward but useful nonetheless since Fluttershy had started drinking again. It seemed to make Fluttershy more relaxed. Then Celestia watched as something hit her. It was the “Oh shit I just realized something” face. “Princess?” Fluttershy asked. “Yes, Fluttershy?” Celestia asked with a worried look. “Has King Sombra eaten anything at all since he's been down there?” There was the slightest hint of worry in Fluttershy as she asked the question. Celestia gave it some thought and she didn't actually remember sending anything down to the dungeon. Luna might have but that's a fifty-fifty right there. When Celestia didn't answer Fluttershy got up from her seat and started to walk to the bedroom door in a hurry. “Wait, Fluttershy where are you going?!” Celestia questioned in surprise. “I'm gonna tell your cooks to prepare something for him. If they don't, I'll do it myself. You gave me a job and I intend to do it, Princess” Fluttershy declared seriously while walking out of Celestia's bedroom leaving her alone. Celestia knew she couldn't stop Fluttershy or any of her subjects once they clearly had a goal in mind. So instead she teleported herself in front of Fluttershy who was not even ten steps away from her bedroom. “Ah! Princess don't do that!” Fluttershy proclaimed understandably scared. Celestia giggled and waved it off “Come now, Fluttershy you gotta be a little tougher than that. Anyway let's go to the kitchen and prepare for your day ok?” Celestia said turning around and walking ahead of Fluttershy. Fluttershy followed and the two headed off. With the help of Princess Celestia, Fluttershy had managed to cook up a variety of sandwiches for King Sombra and herself. It didn't take long or rather it felt that way. Talking to Princess Celestia while cooking was actually pretty fun for Fluttershy. “Oh my what do we have here? Let's see... I count ten sandwiches-- and I'm guessing these might be for our locked up prisoner hmmmm?” Discord suddenly questioned, making Fluttershy jump in the air. “Discord! What did I say about doing that!” Fluttershy softly yelled. She tried her hardest to seem upset with Discord but her cute flurry down towards the floor really did not help her in the slightest. “I'm sorry my dear but I couldn't help myself. Your back was turned and how could I ever pass up the opportunity to scare you upwards?” Discord mocked while striking a overly dramatic pose. Fluttershy finally touched the ground and shook her head. “W-whatever! Anyway to answer your question, Discord; You are correct about your assumption. Your opinion is also welcomed if you must know” Fluttershy voiced while starting to wrap up her sandwiches. Discord stopped her by lifting her up by the waist and hugging her tightly. “Aww look at you Discord, I've never see you so worried about a friend before. You know she's fine though right?” Celestia asked in a mocking attitude. Discord wasn't really pleased with that however he would have to put up with it for now at least. When Fluttershy finally made her escape from the hug she sighed. “Discord I swear I'm ok. You didn't have to hold me like I was dead or something” Fluttershy respectfully proclaimed. Discord crossed his arms and looked away from Fluttershy, “Well I was worried about you. Is that so wrong?” Discord asked. He didn't expect Fluttershy to float up to his face and offer him a sandwich that was meant for someone else. “If I give you this will you promise to act like you again? You're kind of creeping me out a little, Discord hehe” that giggle at the end persuaded Discord. He took the sandwich, tossed it up in the air, swallowed it in one go but then suddenly paused. He took the time admire the taste of the sandwich and was actually impressed. It showed on his face to. “You ok, Discord?” Fluttershy asked curiously. She got her answer when Discord snapped his fingers and the sandwiches started flying around kitchen. “Yes I'm dandy hehehe. Bye, Fluttershy and good luck” Discord replied in a hurry. He teleported out of the kitchen leaving Celestia and Fluttershy confused. “Did he just pull a Pinkie Pie on us?” Celestia asked confused and grabbing one of the flying sandwiches from the air. “Well.. Yes I think he did, Princess. Glad to see she rubbing off on him, hehe” Fluttershy giggled. Celestia and Fluttershy cleaned up the kitchen and found themselves in the very early afternoon. Fluttershy was behind the Princess in deep thought. How was food gonna help at all? Well evil or not, King Sombra was still a stallion and if there's one thing all stallions have in common it's their undying love for good food. Maybe I could.. Nah that won't work either. How about.. One piece equals one answer.. Yeah! That sounds like a good idea Fluttershy thought. Her train of thought was cut short by Celestia looking down at her. She looked like she had asked Fluttershy a question and was waiting for a answer. “Fluttershy, did you hear me?” Celestia question. Fluttershy shook her head “I'm sorry, Princess I was thinking about how to proceed with Sombra. What was the question again?” Fluttershy acted quickly and gave Celestia a smile. The Princess chuckled “Don't worry about it I understand. I asked are you gonna go visit him now or return to your room first?” Fluttershy looked down at her outfit. It wasn’t clean, but not too dirty. However this was a perfect opportunity for a little bit of practice before she met with Sombra again. “I'll go to my room, Princess Celestia” Fluttershy said respectfully. She watched Celestia nod and place her hand on her shoulder. Next thing Fluttershy knew she was in her bedroom. “Wow ok, that was.. Fast. Guess I'll just prepare now.” Prepare herself she did. Fluttershy took on a new casual long dress and along with that she talked to herself in the mirror of the bathroom. The goal was obviously to hype herself up. It was about ten percent successful. With that ten percent of self hype Fluttershy took off to the dungeon food in hand. With the same thoughts of all of her friends believing in her Fluttershy descended the stairs into the castle's dungeon. The same guards escorted her to Sombra’s cell where this time he was completely focused on channeling magic. The pure red aura around his body was doing something. That something was completely lost to Fluttershy and the guards. Fluttershy quietly told both of the guards to go back to their positions while she just as quietly went into the cell and sat down with her food next to her. Fluttershy tried her hardest to understand what Sombra was doing. Was he healing himself? Or doing something else? “Augh! Damn it!” Sombra cried out in recoiled pain. Looks like a failed spell. Twilight never mentioned pain when failing a spell. Which only meant one thing. “What kind of dark spell were you attempting?” Fluttershy stated out loud. When she realized what she just did she covered her mouth. Sombra stood up quickly and was prepared for a fight. Fluttershy was surprised by how tall Sombra was. He had to be at least a little less tall than Celestia. Dude to the very little light in the cell Fluttershy could barely make out his muscles. But there was no time to worry about all that now. “Umm..hi..again, King Sombra” Fluttershy greeted. She could feel her heartbeat speed up the more Sombra looked at her with fight in his eyes. The feeling didn't last long and thank Celestia it didn't. Sombra sat down and stared at Fluttershy shaking his head “Do you like playing with fire, child?” He asked calmly while going back to his original sitting position. Fluttershy felt better now that they were at somewhat eye level. “I don't actually. I'm sorry that I interrupted your concentration” Fluttershy voiced softly. Sombra sucked his teeth and waved it off. Ok at the very least he didn't actually care. Quiet washed over them again. Time to put that ten percent to use then. “So... what were you trying to do?” Fluttershy asked. Just like yesterday Sombra refused to answer. “Were you trying to heal yourself?” no answer. “Were you trying to get someone or something to come rescue you?” Sombra actually chuckled at that. “What makes you think I need anyone's help to get out of here?” Sombra replied. Sombra was right. He could have busted out of here anytime he wished. But then Fluttershy was confused about that notion. “Well because if you could get out of here you at any point you would've done so already. Or I am wrong?” Fluttershy asked while putting her together on her lap. When Sombra refused to look at her face she knew that she was right. “I’d watch myself if I were you, child. Especially if you gonna act like a smartass” Sombra voiced viciously. That did scare Fluttershy but not enough to run away. After Sombra’s low-key threat the sound of silence came back. Sombra refused to give Fluttershy attention and Fluttershy was trying to think of a way to get Sombra to talk. That's when something loud roared in the cell. It was Sombra’s stomach. Oh thank Celestia. I'm going to risk today playing this card. Here's goes nothing Fluttershy thought. She reached into her food basket and pulled out a sandwich. “I figured you were hungry, King Sombra so I brought you some food” Fluttershy said while holding one close to her. Again Sombra didn't turn around to look at her. “I'll give you some if you answer my questions deal?” Fluttershy asked curiously. “Ugh.. Fine.. Deal” Sombra’s magic grabbed the sandwich and brought it to his mouth. He had to admit it tasted good. In the back of her mind Fluttershy was jumping for joy at this actually working. Now all she to do was not fuck it up and wait until Sombra finished the sandwich. Once he was done she allowed herself to speak. “So do you still think I'm here to hurt you?” Fluttershy asked softly. The answer was going to be yes but this time Fluttershy had a answer for it. “Based on your inability to sneak up on me I would say you couldn't hurt a fly” Sombra responded. He was kinda correct, Fluttershy had hurt a couple of them much to her dismay. “So that's a good thing in your eyes then? Since I can't hurt you anyway?” Fluttershy asked while grabbing another sandwich from the basket. “You would be correct, child” Sombra replied flatly. He grabbed the sandwich Fluttershy was holding and started eating it. This one had a spicy taste that tickled his tongue. With each bite that tickle feeling became more intense but it didn't bother him. However out of the corner of his eye he could see Fluttershy wanting to say something. “Please stop calling me a child. We both know a child wouldn't be able to handle this” Fluttershy voiced calmly. Sombra faced her again with a blank stare. Is there any emotion this Pony has besides nothing and various range of angry?! Fluttershy thought. “You don't think it's appropriate? It's funny since you're the one who been acting like a child. Don't get upset at me because you're acting like one, child” Sombra mockingly stated. He saw Fluttershy was getting upset at the fact that he was calling her a child. The feeling of not caring showed all over his face. That's when Fluttershy grabbed another sandwich, got up and walked over to him. They were within arms reach of each other and Sombra tried to grab the sandwich but the Fluttershy quickly pulled back. “If you're going to play this game I'll play along” Fluttershy stated boldly. She and Sombra looked at each other. Unfortunately for Sombra, Fluttershy already won because she knew what was coming next. Sombra got up and went straight for the sandwich in Fluttershy’s hand. Fluttershy jumped back just enough to keep the food out of the kings reach. Fluttershy smirked “Ok, King Sombra so tell me again who's the child here again chasing food?” She asked staring directly at him. Unfortunately for Fluttershy, Sombra wouldn't play along with her. She suddenly flew backwards in the metal bars hitting her back and head. “Ahhugh!” she yelled in pain. “Like I said before, Child you're playing with fire here. Don't think I won't hurt you just because you're innocent. I've killed for less” Sombra proclaimed viciously. He looked down at the drop sandwich and decided to pick up and eat it. Fluttershy got up and for the first time in a while she was actually pissed off. Since Sombra wasn't paying attention to Fluttershy he did not expect her to suddenly come back and grab his arm. Again they stared at each other. “You got some bite, C-” Fluttershy slapped him with her other hand. She slapped him so hard that the sound ringed throughout the cell. Sombra was impressed honestly. “I'll ask again, King Sombra who's the real child here?!” Fluttershy asked doing her best to look angry. Sombra took back his arm and decided to sit back down. Finishing the sandwich was his top priority although that didn't stop Fluttershy from looking down at him. Again he did not care and she wasn't going to get a apology anytime soon. The situation was certainly entertaining to him and just to add to that he actually looked at with a “I dare you to try something” face. Fluttershy simply just stood looking down at him. “Do yourself a favor and sit down before I send you flying again” Sombra ordered. Fluttershy just stood there quietly clenching her fist. “I'm warning you child, that first swing you take better be your best. If not you’re hitting the bars again even harder this time” Sombra dared. He actually enjoyed playing around with Fluttershy like this. Seeing her struggle like this was pure entertainment. “I'm not gonna hit you. As much as I want to I can't do it” Fluttershy stated. For the time ever in Fluttershy’s life she witnessed King Sombra actually giggle. It was weird as heck. “So one painless slap is all you can manage? That's really disappointing” Sombra said shaking his head. “IS ALL OF THIS JUST A GAME TO YOU!” Fluttershy yelled. Again Sombra giggled. He looked directly Fluttershy eyes and horn glowing bright red. A big feeling of fear washed over her. “As I said before, Child you. Are. Playing. With. Fire. Get that through your thick skull and maybe I'll start treating you with some respect. However, yes I do find enjoyment in toying with you. Now leave me alone, I'm done with you for today” Sombra claimed seriously. His words rigged in Fluttershy’s mind. He was done with her however-- she wasn't done with him. Fluttershy then walked over to her food basket took out one more sandwich. She threw it at Sombra hitting his face. When Sombra turned around to Fluttershy he saw the look of a mare who made up her mind about something. “That's the first expression you made that's not disappointing. What's on your mind, Child?” he questioned mockingly. Fluttershy walked up to him again, took a knee, and suddenly grabbed his horn she forced him to look directly into her blue eyes. Sombra expected to see some type of rage or anger in them; he didn't. In fact he saw the exact opposite. “I promise you this, King Sombra; I'm not gonna give up on you that easily. You can push me away all you like, but I'm gonna save you whatever you like it or not!” Fluttershy voiced with vigor. She let go of Sombra’s horn and started to make her way out of the cell. Fluttershy grabbed her food basket and then left Sombra alone again. Sombra went back focusing on his magic. Or at the very least he tried. Everytime he got remotely somewhere Fluttershy’s words ringed in his mind. ”I'm gonna save you whatever you like it or not.” Sombra sucked his teeth in disgust and decided to lay down to rest. Fluttershy’s words would not leave him alone. It was still afternoon time when Fluttershy came from the dungeon. Honestly now she had nothing to do since the main task was taken care of. She walked the castle hallway trying to figure out what to do next. Going to her room was always a good idea but then she heard Princess Celestia's voice behind her. “Hello there, Fluttershy how did it go with King Sombra this time?” Celestia asked walking up to Fluttershy. She was about to answer the question but then stopped. “Can we discuss this on your balcony, Princess Celestia? I need some fresh air” Fluttershy voiced flatly. Celestia obviously took note of the tone in Fluttershy’s voice but she nodded nonetheless. “I can free up twenty minutes. Let's go” The Princess said while surrounding herself and Fluttershy in her magic and teleporting them out of the hallway. The feeling of the soft wind touching Fluttershy’s skin was very uplifting. She sat down on the balcony’s edge stretching out her wings and that felt even better. Celestia noticed the sudden change in mood to which did make her feel better about asking what happened. “So how did it go this time? Did you make any progress with him?” Celestia questioned softly. She made sure to give Fluttershy the she needed time to answer for obvious reasons. “I'm not sure if I made any real progress. But I did learn a few things about him” Fluttershy replied. “Oh really? What did you learn?” Celestia sounded interested in hearing this. What could Fluttershy have learned in a short time span? Fluttershy closed her eyes and recalled everything that happened “Well for one he was hungry. So I'm gald that worked out.” They both chuckled at that. Its always fun when a plan comes together. “It seems like it takes a lot channel magic. He struggled with it and actually hurt himself when it pushed it too far.” “Well that's too be expected when a Unicorn is under a lot of stress. But since he uses dark magic that must make it ten times worse” Celestia replied. “Did he try to use any magic on you?” she asked seriously and curiously. Fluttershy waved it off the Celestia's fears immediately. “The most he could do is push me backwards. Nothing to serious. But I have a feeling that's all he can do and it's frustrating him to no end. Which proves your earlier point, Princess.” Celestia watched Fluttershy turn around hop off the edge of the balcony. Fluttershy then went into a self-controled deep thinking trance. Celestia knew that Fluttershy was thinking about how dark worked and how it was affecting Sombra. “It's mostly negative emotions, dear hehe” Celestia giggled. Fluttershy quickly came out of her trance and smiled. “Then I can-” “Breaking one's connection with dark magic takes years of experience I'm afraid. But I love the way you're going about this, Fluttershy” Celestia said proudly. Fluttershy tried to hide her blush. “T-thank you, Princess Celestia.” “Oh before we continue I wrote a letter to your friends and told them about your mission. The letter they replied with should be in your room by now. You can go read it now if you wish” Celestia voiced. Of course she wanted to hear more about what Fluttershy had to say about King Sombra but she could help in anyway it would be reducing the amount of stress that came with dealing with King Sombra. “Can you teleport the letter here so I can read it and feel relaxed on this balcony?” Fluttershy asked. Celestia chuckled and agreed with Fluttershy decision. The letter appeared suddenly in front of Fluttershy and when she grabbed it she could feel all of her Friends love and support from the unopened letter. Her feelings were confirmed she when finally opened the letter. Dear Fluttershy, Princess Celestia told us about your mission and we fully support it. You are the strongest Pony out of all of us when it comes to saving others. We know you won't give up and we won't ever give up on you either. If there's anything we can do to help you from Ponyville please don't hesitate to ask. Remember Fluttershy we're always with you even if we're far apart. Sincerely, Twilight Sparkle Fluttershy smiled. Knowing her friends were still behind her pushing her forward made her so much more comfortable with the situation. “Princess?” “Yes, Fluttershy?” Celestia saw that same fire in Fluttershy eyes as before. It was brighter this time and it made Celestia more hopeful that Fluttershy would succeed. “I think I have a idea” Fluttershy said boldly. He had been at this trial and error for literally days. He knew it caused him pain, but he could always heal himself from the pain. It had been a harmful cycle. Forcing magic to do what you want was extremely dangerous. Forcing dark magic was ten times worse since the user could suffer from any number of side effects. These could range from an inability to sleep, extreme negative mood swings, self harm, or even losing all feeling everywhere in one's body. The only side effect Sombra could feel at the moment was extreme stupidity by his own standards but fighting against it was better than admitting defeat. “UAHG!” Sombra yelled in pain again for what seemed like the hundredth time this hour. Sombra was getting extremely frustrated. Why wasn't his any of his stronger spells working? Could it be that he really couldn't focus that hard? Was it the pain that sharpened up these past few weeks? The harder he pushed himself the harder it was to get anything magical going. Sombra laid back into the wall behind him and closed his eyes. The familiar sound of nothing hit him again--at the very least he could think of ways to solve this problem of his. However, the moment he started thinking he heard footsteps headed towards him. The sounds were quiet in nature and that only meant one Pony was headed towards him. Sombra opened his eyes again and saw Princess Celestia in the doorway of his cell. “I know you're stubborn, Sombra but you really need to calm down with forcing yourself to do something you obviously can't do” Celestia stated. Obviously Sombra wasn't entirely jolly to see her. She did put him in this cell a few weeks ago. It was understandable if he built up some anger towards her. It also didn't help that she came down there opening up a conversation telling him what to do. “If it means disobeying you I'm gonna keep going. Just to spite you, Celestia” Sombra spoke with a harsh tone. He looked directly at her to prove he wasn't kidding. However, that didn't stop the Princess from taking a step towards him. She didn't have that useless happy smile on her face this time instead it was flat so was this important? Or was she playing with him? “Get out, Celestia before I get angry.” Celestia stood her ground “That's honestly better than holding repressed feelings in. So go ahead get angry it won't bother me.” Celestia could see it in Sombra’s eyes that he wanted to hurt her. Which is why she kept her distance. If you want to know the truth I'm down here because I want to talk. Things don't have to get violent, Sombra” Celestia voiced. Sombra shook his head and looked away from Celestia “And I'm supposed to be the bad guy here? You love torturing your prisoners don't you, Celestia? Playing this sick game with me by sending that weak mare down here over and over again must really get you off!” Celestia didn't respond that for a while. He must've hit a nerve and that felt good. What Sombra didn't expect was Celestia's hand to his face. Expand this conversation more “Do you actually think I enjoy locking you up and not being able to help you myself? News flash I don't and its rather disgusting that you think that way. Second, you know this isn't a game and the mare you call “weak” is stronger than what you give her credit for” Celestia said seriously. Sombra rubbed his stinging cheek “obviously not since that mare can't come down here without shaking in her boots. Tell me something, Princess did you pick her because she has the highest chance at failing? Admit it, there's a part of you that likes sending someone so innocent into red-hot danger” Sombra spoke coldly. Although, he was the one down on his knees Sombra was in complete control of this exchange. “Are you trying to convince me or yourself of that?” Celestia asked while folding her arms. Sombra was caught off guard by that. What did Celestia mean? She knew the truth to that question. “Let's be real here for a second, Sombra. You have the strength to kill her any time she's down here. My question is: if she's in “red-hot danger” why isn't she dead yet?” The two ponies simply stared at each other for a moment--the tension got more intense with each passing second. Then Sombra laughed out loud. Like a genuine evil laugh that sent a really bad shiver up Celestia’s back. “You seem to forget something, Princess Celestia. I like to play with my food first. That mare's time will come and you will regret this entire thing. Just. You. Wait.” Again the cell went completely silent. Sombra’s words may have been painful to take in but deep down Celestia knew Fluttershy would be fine. She had her friends and family behind her and that alone would be enough. But at the same time she couldn't leave without giving King Sombra a piece of her mind. “I'll tell you this, King Sombra-” At that moment Celestia’s horn sparked. Sombra prepared himself for anything. Then he was against wall being held by Celestia’s magic. Sombra saw pure fury and rage in Celestia’s eyes. The kind that one has when they completely lost their minds. “If you hurt Fluttershy in any real way I'll kill you myself. Do. You. Understand. Me?” Sombra looked deep into Celestia’s eyes “You don't nor will you Ever have the heart to make good on that, Celestia. Now put me down, get out of my sight and stop wasting both of our times!” Sombra yelled. Celestia gritted her teeth and clenched her fist. Fluttershy laid on her bed, she was frustrated. Running through the same ideas and tweaking them to benefit Sombra always ended up in the same pit. Him being stubborn, not wanting to talk, or worse. Ugh! This is the worse puzzle in Equestrian history! Why am I in charge of solving it! He's so stuck in the darkness that it's making me nuts! Fluttershy thought while hitting the bed with her fist. A distraction was welcomed as she heard someone knock on her bedroom door. “Come in!” Fluttershy said head buried in her pillow. “Well, your suspensions were confirmed. He's getting worse, and he doesn't seem to care either” Princess Celestia spoke. Fluttershy quickly repositioned her to a more respectful position. Celestia respected the fact that Fluttershy was so willing act so professionally around her even though it was not her strong suit. That didn't stop Fluttershy from trying her hardest. Fluttershy sighed “It was a dumb idea to ask you to go down there anyway. Sorry, Princess.” “It's fine, Fluttershy.”- The Princess walked over to the edge of Fluttershy’s bed sat on it. “Do you have any more ideas?” She asked. Fluttershy was about to say something but then shook her head rapidly. The young mare repeated this action a number of times before being stopped by the hand of Celestia on top of her head. “You're doing the thing Twilight does when she wants to say something but does know how to say it. Calm down and slowly say the words ok, Fluttershy” Celestia said with a motherly tone. Fluttershy took her slow sweet time to find the words she was looking for “I had this idea of--letting King Sombra out of his cell for a while. WithyourpermissionofcoursePrincess” Fluttershy spoke turning away from the Princess. She did not want to see Celestia's reaction to her idea. “Do you believe this will help him, Fluttershy?” Celestia questioned calmly. Fluttershy couldn't believe that Celestia was totally pissed at her for even bringing this up. Why wasn't she upset?! “I do. Reason is: some animals go completely insane when they stay in the same place for a while. Sombra might not go insane but I believe that if he doesn't get some fresh air soon he might actually hurt himself. Badly. Plus I think the fact that he believes you are genuinely trying to hurt him via torture plays a role as well.” Celestia couldn't argue with Fluttershy on this. The logic made sense. “Fine you my permission. However-- are you aware of the potential consequences of this decision? ” Celestia asked. “That he might make an attempt to escape? Yes. I'm confident he won't because he may stubborn, evil and jerky, but he's not stupid. Besides, that's why I trust you'll have some plan in case he does right, Princess?” Fluttershy couldn't see it, but she the princess proud by her answer. Her reward was a key that was placed on her bed. “We're rooting for you, Fluttershy. Remember that.” With that Celestia teleported out of the room. Fluttershy smiled at Celestia's words. They really did brighten her mood. A little while later Fluttershy found herself at the bottom of the dungeon staircase. Key in hand she walked towards Sombra’s cell. Fluttershy’s heartbeat rose with each step she took towards Sombra’s cell. Was she actually going to risk him running away just for the slight chance of her getting some feelings other than anger outta him? That answer would have to wait because Fluttershy froze when Sombra was looking directly at her when she entered his jail cell. Fluttershy noticed that his hand was covered by his magic holding it over his stomach. He's healing himself. What happened? It looks like it really hurts “Uhh--h-hello again, King Sombra. I.. Hope this day finds-” “It doesn't. What do you want today, Child?” Sombra sharply replied. His face told Fluttershy that he really wasn't going to deal with bullshit today. Even so, Fluttershy pressed forward. Sombra got more annoyed when Fluttershy took her regular seat in front of him. The mare did not say anything at first. In fact, she tried to read his body language but came away with nothing, but he's pissed off more than usual. “Did something happen?” Yes that was a stupid question by Fluttershy but it's the one she could come up with. Sombra shook his head in disgust and looked away. Oh come on again with this! Ok.. Think--what's going to make him talk? Fluttershy thought. He's hiding the fact that he's healing himself but I know he's not gonna talk about that. Maybe I can.. “I'm guessing messing with your magic didn't go so well again?” Fluttershy asked curiously. Sombra turned to Fluttershy making her anxious again. He was dead serious in his expression. “What. Do. You. Want. From. Me. Child.” Fluttershy showed him the key to his chains “I wanted to see if letting you out of this jail cell would help you. It would help any other Pony so why not you?” Fluttershy spoke softly. King Sombra couldn't believe what he was hearing. Was she truly this naive? How can anyone truly think he wouldn't escape the moment he was let go? It was actually laughable. So much so Sombra started to chuckle. “Are you serious, Child? What makes you sure I won't try to run the first chance I get?” Sombra questioned. “King Sombra, I believe you're not that stupid. There's a lot of guards in the Castle at the moment and you being as weak as you are can't risk getting hurt again. Am I correct?” Fluttershy knew she was right, but she also knew Sombra would never admit it. Instead of responding Sombra would just gesture Fluttershy to his chains. Once again Fluttershy could feel her own heartbeat getting faster as she stood over Sombra to unlock his chains. The first one unlocked, then the second, then the third and finally the fourth. Fluttershy stepped back to watch Sombra stand up and that opened a can of jitters that washed over the young mare. Was this really the correct choice? Ok he's free now. Now.. Onto step two Fluttershy thought. She could tell Sombra was kinda happy to be free from the chains. That could be a good or bad thing to get him to actually talk to her depending on she spun it. But there's no point in wondering about that now. She had to lead him to the Castle garden..outside while getting looks from the staff and guards. Celestia help her. “Shall we g-go?” Fluttershy asked while turning around and walking out of the jail cell. She heard Sombra behind her and his heavy footsteps were such a contrast to her soft one's. Fluttershy’s anxiety grew when they reached the bottom of the stairs where the guards were. The thought of Sombra hurting them came into her mind very quickly.. No he wouldn't risk that. After, all like she said King Sombra wasn't stupid. Fluttershy didn't know how she managed to walk around the castle with King Sombra behind her without fainting into next week. The expected looks and faces were there to in extreme force. But that's in the past as of a few minutes ago. Right now she and King Sombra were sitting across from each other separated by a table that was filled with food and water. Sombra got straight to eating. Princess Celestia didn't have to go this far. I'll have to thank her after this. But for now I have to deal with the fact that I didn't think I get this far without trouble! How would my friend's start this conversation? Fluttershy thought to herself. For the moment she sat quietly thinking about what to do or say next. Sombra put down his water and looked around his surroundings. He knew the Princess had guards watching him and Fluttershy. Not knowing the exact number was annoying in a way. But not so much that he couldn't think of a way out this garden. Not that running away would do him any type of good now. He was pretty much set in this new setting. Speaking of which; King Sombra started to channel a bit of magic while Fluttershy was staring at him. The spell he attempted was a simple heartbeat scan. Since he just got out of the dungeon the range wasn't going to be big. Sombra could sense his own calm heartbeat but Fluttershy’s was beating fast. Other than that he couldn't feel anything else. They're smart, keeping themselves outside of my range. Or keeping themselves covered. I can't make it bigger without hurting myself either. Ugh..this is annoying Sombra redirected his attention to Fluttershy who was really interested in what he just did. “So, child what's the plan this time? You got me outside, now what?” Sombra asked calmly. Fluttershy took her time facing the king again. She couldn't tell if that was a genuine question or not. At least it's something and it's a conversation opener. However, Fluttershy didn't have a direct answer. Yes getting Sombra out of the dungeon was part one but three through ten was never thought about. “Umm.. I..” Fluttershy struggled. This gave Sombra an opportunity. “What? No plan B or part two? That doesn't sound like you, child” Sombra mocked. Fluttershy “I'm sorry what? Doesn't sound like me? Please explain what you mean by that” Fluttershy voiced with interest. Just like wind Sombra’s answer could go anywhere. What has he learned about Fluttershy in just the few days they meant she wondered. “Explain? There's nothing much to say. You have this get me outside plan going on right? So what's next? More questions for me? Go ahead then” Sombra replied. By the tone of his voice he was expecting to hear more questions from Fluttershy. Yeah he was correct because she didn't really know what else to do. Then something hit Fluttershy that made her feel completely stupid. They were both outside in very relaxing weather. “Ok fine how about this; wanna take a nap under that tree with me?” Fluttershy asked while pointing behind her. Fluttershy was surprised by how fast she came with that. It wasn't the brightest question but it was different. Sombra’s “are you kidding me” expression made Fluttershy shame her decision. But since he kinda didn't have much of a choice in the matter he stood up and started walking to the tree. This surprised Fluttershy, but then she got up and flew over to the tree. She reached it first and the shade provided really nice cover from Celestia's sun. Fluttershy took her seat and Sombra took his right next to her. Either one said anything and just enjoyed the peace. It took about thirty minutes for Fluttershy to hear Sombra snoring. This was probably the first time in weeks Sombra had a proper nap of some kind. But the way his head was positioned meant Sombra was going to have cramps later. Do I dare touch a sleeping, evil, King? I already slapped him right? So what's the problem now? It's for his benefit after all. Time slowed down as Fluttershy reached out to Sombra. The wind that touched her hands didn't help. She touched Sombra’s hair and slightly retreated. With a deep breath Fluttershy slowly went back in. It was like infinite pressure was building up when Fluttershy got closer to Sombra’s face. Before actually touching his skin Fluttershy waited to see if this was an extreme bait by Sombra. No it wasn't he really sleeping against a tree next to a mare he calls “child”. Careful now. Don't blow this. Ok, why and how is his hair and skin not completely roughed up? He's been in a Dungeon for weeks for Celestia's sake! Also, he's a deep sleeper don't forget that, Fluttershy After what seemed like forever Fluttershy finally managed to get Sombra’s head on her lap. Naturally the rest of his body followed and Fluttershy hoped to Celestia he wouldn't be too upset. With her heart finally slowing down back to its normal bpm Fluttershy went back to enjoying the peace while studying Sombra. His not covered horn was still as long and red she imagined it was. The markings of chains around his risk were clearly visible. It made Fluttershy cringed a little thinking about how painful it must've felt. She also saw the other healed scars around his arms and upper chest. He has scars but Celestia, Luna, and Discord don't? Why does he choose to wear these instead of making them disappear completely? Could it be an ego thing? Oh well I'll found out later. Fluttershy tried to look for anything more but couldn't find it. Before long, she felt herself getting tried. Some time passed and when Fluttershy finally woke up she was meant by Sombra’s eyes. Fluttershy panicked and tried to look away but no matter how hard she tried she just couldn't. It was like looking into a dark empty tunnel that no light at the end of it. But the fact he was laying here not pissed off meant there had to be some hope. “Um--did you enjoy your nap?” Fluttershy asked nervously ending it with just as nervous smile. “You moved me. Why?” Sombra replied with no emotion. “The way you were positioned was going to cause you neck pains later. I couldn't let that happen!” Fluttershy quickly answered. Sombra push himself off Fluttershy and stretched. The following yawn sounded like a roar that sent shivers down Fluttershy spine. Besides that she noticed that the sun was lower in the sky. “Wait, how long-” “A few hours” Sombra answered. Fluttershy didn't know what to say. The realization of she just slept peacefully with Sombra under a tree was incredible. “Looks like you lost your chance today, Child. But thanks for the nap suggestion I actually needed that” Sombra said pushing himself onto his feet. He let out one more yawn and then started to walk away from Fluttershy. “Hey! Wait a second, where are you going?” Fluttershy questioned. Sombra shrugged his shoulders. “Back to my cell. You know your Princesses won't let me stay out any longer. See ya, kid.” Sombra magically scanned the area again and again heard nothing other than his and Fluttershy’s heart beats. Before he could start suspecting something was up Fluttershy flew past him. She stopped in front of him legs and arms spread out. “Just hold on a minute” Fluttershy softly spoke. Sombra rolled his eyes in annoyance. He noticed that Fluttershy was trying to think of something super quick. She couldn't possibly think of anything that would be even remotely impressive right? “Fine I'll bite. What's the plan this time, child?” “We both know you don't really want to go back down there. So why not just stay out here for a while longer--It won't hurt.” Sombra shrugged “Whatever.” “Good. Now back to square one” Fluttershy replied turning around walking towards the table they were at before. Sombra joined her. Fluttershy’s side was still filled with untouched food. The same could not be said about Sombra’s side. Fortunately Fluttershy gave her food to him. “I'll eat later.” Sombra shrugged his shoulders and started to eat. “So what now?” Sombra asked In between bites. Fluttershy didn't answer right away not that she needed to. “I wanted to learn more about you. If that's ok with you” Fluttershy replied. “Go ahead. Ask whatever you want, Child.” Fluttershy wasn't expecting that. Was Sombra returning the favor? Even if not this was good. “Why does it hurt when you use your magic?” Sombra stared at Fluttershy with a narrowed expression “You have alicorns for friends do you not? You should already know that answer.” Fluttershy could feel that bit of sting behind Sombra words. But that didn't stop her from getting a little bold. “I wanna hear it straight from you though. It's been bugging me ever since I heard you yelp in pain” Fluttershy replied. Sombra shook his head, but he was willing to speak up. Fluttershy made sure to pay attention to this. “Long story short: dark magic spells require intense focus, mental strength, and negative emotions. The more powerful the spell the more it requires those three things. My personal problem is: no matter what I do I can't focus on anything when I try to do anything other than basic spells. Or any spell that I truly mastered.” Fluttershy stayed quiet. She didn't want to rush this. She had her suspicions about Sombra’s state and it was just as bad as she thought. “Thank you for being honest with me, King Sombra. Although I have one more question. Did our nap over at the tree help at all?” Fluttershy questioned. Sombra didn't answer the question. “My problem is not yours, Child. So I suggest you stay out of it.” It's probably because he's been locked up in the dungeon for a long time. Or is it because something or somepony is clouding his head? The nap helped a tiny amount so maybe the solution is getting him to relax? But if that's the case how am I- “Hey,! Child you with me or not?!” Sombra said snapping his fingers. “Mmm? Ah--oh sorry Um.. I started a bad habit of doing that. Anyway, King Sombra if that's all for today, I will take you back to your cell” Fluttershy spoke while getting up from her seat. Truth be told she honestly didn't want to do this. It felt wrong considering what she just learned. Even if Sombra was lying to save face him confessing some version of the truth wasn't a step backwards. “Hold on there, child we're not done yet” Sombra said. Fluttershy was surprised normally that would be the end of it. But Fluttershy would not fight this chance to continue talking with Sombra. “I think it's only fair I learn one or two things about you. Don't you think so?” “You're not wrong. Before you even try I cannot be tempted to betray my friends or anyone I love. So don't try it” Fluttershy replied seriously. Sombra’s clearly took that as a challenge because he grinned with vigor. “You don't have the slightest clue to how many times I have heard that pathetic line. If you're so sure about yourself, Child why not test your might?” Sombra questioned with a little bit of excitement across his face. Fluttershy shook her head and laughed at Sombra. Of course Sombra did not like that, but he was more interested in why the child in front of him was laughing. “It's not your fault that you don't know. But Discord once tried that same thing and I passed that test. Looking back on it always makes me laugh” Fluttershy finished. Sombra wasn't that impressed. “You can't be serious. That fool is so wrapped up in his own world that he possibly tell his left from his right upside-down whatever” Sombra waved off. “Discord may--is a little off focus, but he's not that bad once you get to know him. He's actually quite funny when he's not trolling” Fluttershy stated. Sombra rolled his eyes. “You're also a fool for befriending him.” “I'd rather be a “fool” for trying to reach out to ponies than someone who wants to rule the world” Fluttershy sharply responded. In a totally not expected move Sombra magically grabbed Fluttershy forcing her right in front of him. Fluttershy couldn't break free, and she knew calling for help wouldn't help. Not that she would anyway. “If you cared about your life, Child I suggest you remember your place in this game and not step out of line” Sombra seriously said. Although Fluttershy was scared she saw an opportunity, and she had to take it. Even though Sombra was angry he left himself wide open. “King Sombra, If you value your life I suggest you don't step out of line. You should remember your place in this “game” of ours” Fluttershy replied seriously as best as she could. YES I ALWAYS WANTED TO SAY THAT! AND IT FELT SO GOOD “Throwing my words right back at me? I'll give you one thing, Child you got guts.” Sombra let Fluttershy go, got up from his chair and started to walk to the dungeon. Fluttershy was proud of herself that she got a complement from Sombra even though it was a little rough around the edges. She got up and escorted Sombra back to his cell. In my opinion I'm making good progress. His desire for revenge is clearly there but since his magic is broken he's not a big threat. Also before you say it yes-- I know I have to still be careful. Anyway, I hope you're not getting into trouble since I have been gone.” “Pfaff, me in trouble? I only get in trouble when I want to get caught, my dear you know that. The only thing I will say is: pranking rich ponies is so much fun. Just seeing the panic in their eyes when they think they're in trouble in heavenly hilarious! Toast to myself for being funny” Discord while literally touching two tea cups together. Fluttershy giggled and took a sip of the tea Discord made. Talking to him after spending so much time with Sombra was wonderful change of pace. Although she didn't miss Discord’s messing up the place with whatever he wanted. Not that she could've stopped him anyway, but since she was still in Celestia’s castle she would have preferred to not mess up anything. That didn't stop Discord from turning everything upside down though. “Since I have you alone, Fluttershy I have to ask: have you actually thought about how you're gonna “save him”.” “I.. That's a good question. I just assumed that I would do the same thing I did to you. Befriending him and all that.” “If that doesn't work? What then? Use the elements? What if..” Fluttershy quickly placed a finger on Discord’s lips. She knew Discord worried about her getting hurt. Celestia forbid if she actually did. “Discord, If you stop worrying so much I'll let you set Twilight’s bed on rainbow fire for a whole week ok?” Discord immediately changed tune. “Nothing would make me happier, my dear!” Discord replied with a happy smile. Fluttershy giggled “Good. Now I do need some advice on how I should proceed with King Sombra so if you have any ideas I'll be glad to hear them.” Discord didn't like it the idea of helping Sombra but since Fluttershy asked for advice he couldn't say no. Thinking about it carefully, he thought about some ways she could take it. “You could ask him about those scars you told me about. Play into his hands for a while. Or ask Celestia why she really wants him alive in the first place.” I am curious about those scars. If the history behind them isn't a three books long I'll be disappointed. Discord has a point though why does the Princess want Sombra alive? She already told us though.. Ugh! I'll worry about it later “Wait.. “Play into his hands?” What good will that do? Better yet how would I bring that up without immediately being called out?” Fluttershy questioned. “Easy, my dear just boost his ego. Every male likes being buttered up especially powerful ones. Wait wait wait I have a better idea; Promise him Celestia’s head that will help him a lot!” As if it were foretold in the scrolls of excellent timing there was a very bang sound on Fluttershy’s door. A very angry Princess Celestia came in looking directly at Discord. Fluttershy was kinda shocked to see her Princess in such a state. “Discord! Put everything including Fluttershy right-side up right now!” Discord gave Celestia the ‘I'm totally fine with challenging this’ expression. Although she wasn't haven't it so Celestia put everything back together herself with her own magic. Fluttershy watched Celestia walk up to Discord looking straight at him. It was almost like Fluttershy herself wasn't there at all. “Do you want to tell me why my bathroom was filled up musical singing fingernails!” Discord laughed making Celestia more angry at him “Well you see, Princess I put there because I thought it was funny. It was funny and now that you're here to confront me about it all I have is byehaveabeatuialtime!” Discord finished with a quick retreat. He left in such a hurry that Celestia didn't have time to react. “Ugh! He's so annoying! Why did I let him stay in the castle again!” This was news to Fluttershy. “Wait, he's living here?! Why?” “To be closer to you, Fluttershy. He also said he wanted to be the first to ring Sombra’s neck in a basket if you got hurt. Doesn't change the fact he filled my bathroom with singing fingernails!” Celestia replied with anger still in her voice. In an attempt to make the air in the room less awkward Fluttershy offered some tea to Celestia. She gladly took some and before long she had drunk the whole picture Discord had made. “Feel better, Princess Celestia?” Fluttershy asked calmly. Taking the very last drop of tea into her mouth Celestia slammed her cup down onto the table. The expression on Celestia’s face was more mellow but still a little mad. But that was good enough for Fluttershy. “Y-yeah I'm fine now. Still a bit angry though, but other than that I'm good. Honestly I don't know how you put up with him so much. I would've gone insane by now” “I just got used to it. Although I'm guessing in the back of your mind you're saying I'm also a little insane, Princess” Fluttershy answered back. Celestia shrugged and laid back into her chair but then she laughed. “You would be half right. Insane wouldn't be the word I would use. More like crazy however, that's a good thing considering what you're doing for Sombra. Speaking of which-- are you going down there today?” “Yes I am. Thanks to Discord I have a few more ideas I can try.” “That's good. Is there anything I can do to help make this day easier?” “Actually I wanted to ask you something; do you have a deck of playing cards?” Celestia gave Fluttershy an impressed expression. With that Celestia snapped her fingers and an unopened pack of cards appeared on the table. “I want to hear all the details when you get back later ok? Don't leave anything out you hear me, Fluttershy?” Celestia said with vigor. Fluttershy grabbed the deck of cards and put her other hand up “I swear I will give you all the details, Princess Celestia.” Both mares laughed and Celestia teleported out of Fluttershy’s room. “Well, I better get ready this is gonna be a long day.” Fluttershy descended into the castle dungeon and just like the last few times it made her uncomfortable. Reaching the bottom of the stairs and seeing the guards made it better but not by much. “Um, Excuse me” “Yes, miss Fluttershy?” Fluttershy was surprised that the guard knew her name but it quickly came to her that they work for Celestia so of course they to know. “Has he been ok today?” Fluttershy asked quietly. The guard nodded and gave a thumbs up which gave Fluttershy a sigh of relief. With that off her mind Fluttershy walked down to Sombra cell. He was actually sleeping. It looked just comfortable enough to fall asleep in. Waking Sombra up would probably be a bad decision so Fluttershy just sat down and waited for Sombra to wake up on his own. Guess I'll just shuffle these cards in the meantime. I wonder what theme this deck is.. And it's candy themed. Not the worst not the best there's better ones out there like the hero ones. Super “lyricist” Pinkie Pie is just so funny and it's kinda scary to think about how it actually fits her. Sombra woke up to the sound of Fluttershy playing with her cards. Of course he was upset that she was interrupting this. But then a massive opportunity presented itself and Sombra wasn't one to pass these up. Since Fluttershy wasn't paying attention to him he channeled his magic focused on Fluttershy. Moving his hand out in front of him and snapping his fingers caused Fluttershy to move in front of him. Seeing the fear in her eyes was exactly what he was looking for and down on one knee was an added bonus. “You have a very bad habit of taking your eyes off your opponent, Child” Sombra stated. It took a second or two for Fluttershy heartbeat to slow down. Being forced to look into Sombra angry eyes didn't help the situation. “And you have a habit of scarring me! Jeezz can you not do that again nearly gave me a heart attack!” Fluttershy said while rubbing her chest. Sombra let her go but that didn't stop him enjoying his little play. Speaking of which he noticed Fluttershy’s playing cards all over the floor. It was only responsible to pick them up since he did force her to drop them. Nobody said he had to give them back though. Sombra sat up “Your plan for today was us to play with this deck of cards? What game did you have in mind, Child?” Ok he's just having fun with me at this point. Fluttershy sat down in front of Sombra and didn't have an immediate answer to his question. Lying wasn't an option but making stuff up on the spot never hurt anyone too badly. “I thought we would play “two truths one lie” with a twist-” “Let me guess, we draw one card and whoever has the higher number goes right?” Sombra asked immediately. Fluttershy embarrassedly nodded and Sombra chuckled at how predictable Fluttershy’s plan was. But then he got another idea and started shuffling the deck “fine I'll play along. However, let's play with another twist.” “And that is?” Fluttershy asked curiously. “Difficulty-” Sombra said. “Levels one through five are easy and six through ten are hard. If I win, you have to convince that Princess of yours to let me out of this cell for one night. You decide on what you want later if you win.” Fluttershy thought about it for a while. Convincing the Princess to let him out could be challenging however she's been really helpful so far but if Fluttershy had to step up her game for that then so be it. “Ok that's acceptable. Even though we both are at a disadvantage, I think we should have fun with this.” “What “disadvantage” do you think I'm at, child? Sombra asked. “You don't know my past” Fluttershy confidently replied. “Either way, Child this is not gonna end the way you think” Sombra fired back just as confidently. Sombra placed the deck on ground, drew a card and showed it to Fluttershy it was a five. Fluttershy picked up a card-- it was a four and she showed it to Sombra. They placed the cards to their sides and Sombra thought about what he was going to say. As per the rules he had to start off a little easier. “I broke these chains a long time ago. I sleep comfortably in this cell. I believe that these candy cards are Childish just like you.” Fluttershy recoiled at that last one. “Did you have to throw an insult in there? Oh and no you don't sleep comfortably in here-- nobody would” Fluttershy said looking around uncomfortably. “Yes I did and you're correct. Your turn.” “Level four, mmmm?-- Ok, I always wondered what it would be like to be as powerful as the Princesses. I never been jealous of anyone. It's been a while since I had a nightmare” Fluttershy replied. “You expect me to believe you have never been jealous of anyone? That's literally impossible for everyone” Sombra said while picking up another card with magic. “If that's the case then who were you jealous of?” Fluttershy questioned. Sombra didn't answer the question but he did jester towards the deck. Fluttershy picked up a card this time it was a three Sombra had an eight. Great let's see how this goes. All I have to do is really think hard about which statement is the lie. Easy, right? “If I had the chance to kill Celestia I wouldn't take it. That's all you get” Sombra said smiling at Fluttershy. “What! You can't just change the rules like that!” Fluttershy had the right to be upset. Not that Sombra actually cared. He just continued to confidentiality mock her via smile. “Tell you what, Child if you get this correct by talking it through you win this game and if you lose I win. Sounds fair right?” Sombra asked confidently. He could tell by the look on Fluttershy’s face that she couldn't believe what was happening right now. However, the mare in front of him agreed anyway with little resistance. Now he had to do was wait for Fluttershy’s to get this completely right or wrong. Either way, it going to be entertaining. Cutting everything short just because he can. I don't know what I honestly expected.. Oh well here goes nothing I guess. “Ok let's here-- Would you kill Princess Celestia if you got the chance.. I would say most likely. Reason being is she was the one who put you down here, stopped you long ago, stopped you again by sending us along and to top all that off you must blame her for your magic being broken. I mean if I were in your position I wouldn't hesitate to chop off her head and hang it over my bedroom door.” Fluttershy tried to take mental notes by gauging Sombra’s reaction. Unfortunately he had none and only sat in front of her dead silent. “Is that all you got, Child? Just basic reasoning? That's really disappointing” Sombra said calmly. Amongst her confusion Fluttershy was also Interested in Sombra response. “What else do you expect me to say? That's all you villains want is instant satisfaction…” Sombra watched Fluttershy’s attention completely drift off to somewhere else “Hmm? Why so suddenly quiet, Child?” Another opportunity presented itself to Sombra. He could knock Fluttershy out of her trance, but then Fluttershy spoke just as he started to move his finger. “You wouldn't kill her would you?” Fluttershy asked under her breath. Sombra tilted his head obviously wanting to hear this. When Fluttershy shook her head at him he knew she had a better answer than basic one she gave. “Yeah.. I have reason to believe you wouldn't kill her.” “Explain.” Sombra replied. “Well I mean look at what we're doing now. Sitting here trying to figure each other out for different reasons. I want to help you out but you don't want it. You enjoy messing with me however you wish knowing you won't break me. It's a challenge is what I'm getting at. What's the challenge in outright killing Princess Celestia? Nothing right? So what's the next best thing? Breaking her seems more your style of fun. So it's the truth you wouldn't kill Princess Celestia if you had the chance.” Sombra smirked “That wasn't so bad was it, Child? Also Don't assume you're safe just because I haven't tried anything hard hitting.” “I'm not going to respond to any of that” Fluttershy said blushing and looking away from Sombra. He chuckled at Fluttershy’s reaction and picked up the deck of cards with his magic. “Anyway you win. So what do you want from me this time, Child?” Sombra asked while shuffling the cards. Fluttershy didn't answer the question for a bit. There were a few very important things she wanted to know about Sombra like his scars for example. But no matter how much she wanted to know, there was one thing that came through hitting her like a truck running at full speed. “My name” Fluttershy spoke under her breath. “Excuse me?” Sombra responded. “Call me by name for once. Just once. That's all I ask.” Sombra stopped shuffling the cards. Fluttershy gulped. He gave her a look of disbelief and disappointment that didn't help Fluttershy’s feelings towards the decision. “Out of all the things you could've asked for you still want that? Ugh! Fine.” There was sudden silence. Type of silence when you hear your heartbeat. Sombra just sat there staring at Fluttershy for what seemed like the longest time even though it was only a few seconds. “I'll give you a choice, Child. Easy or hard?” Sombra offered. “Why do you.. You know what fine whatever! If it makes you feel any better I choose hard” Fluttershy frustratingly responded while folding her arms. Whatever Sombra had planned she figured it wouldn't be that bad. That is until she saw his horn glowing and his magic crawling on her legs. Then her hair being pulled until her head laid against the warm floor. Her entire body was being forced to down on the floor and on top of that Sombra suddenly standing over her. Fluttershy’s heart was beating a million miles a minute but for some celestial reason she didn't panic. Although this was the time to panic to scream her lungs out Fluttershy decided not to. It probably wouldn't help the situation anyway. Sombra standing over her also did not help the situation and he only made it worse by actually deciding to get on her. Fluttershy wasn't shocked to find Sombra was heavy. Suddenly Sombra’s soft hands cupped each side of Fluttershy’s face. “Do you realize what I can do to you right now, Child?” Sombra said calmly staring directly into Fluttershy’s eyes. He slowly dragged his fingers down Fluttershy’s face. He kept going down to her neck to feel the goosebumps he was looking for. Fluttershy’s mixed expressions of being uncomfortable and fighting the urge to fight back or to do anything made Sombra secretly celebrate the fact that he could take the time to mess with the poor mare under him. “Yes I do. But like I.. said before, y-you enjoy cha-lle-nges and If I were to-- fight you that would only en-courage you more. So.. I won't fight at the moment!” Fluttershy struggled to say. Her effort made Sombra chuckle. Then without saying anything else Sombra brought his mouth to Fluttershy’s right ear while his hands were still around her neck. His breath gave her chills and it only got worse when Sombra lightly bit down on it. Fluttershy closed her eyes and tighten her fist so tightly that it was almost painful Don't panic, don't panic, don't panic, don't panic! “What was your name again, Child?” Sombra whispered into Fluttershy’s ear. “...M-m-my n-ame.. F-lutter-shy!” Sombra could actually feel Fluttershy’s heartbeat going a million miles a minute. This was much needed entertainment for him. However, he wasn't finished. “Fluttershy. Not bad. Hehehe.. mmm” Just to mess with the mare Sombra bit her ear again and licked it. He heard the giant breath intake and got off Fluttershy suddenly. He also let go of his magical hold over her. Fluttershy was going through a wide range of emotions while picking herself back up. “That.. Wasn't.. Fair, Sombra” Fluttershy said while trying to calm down. “Did I say it was going to be fair? Besides be proud of the fact that you didn't have a panic attack while choosing the hard way” Sombra replied while laying back onto the wall behind him. Ok, ok your fine Fluttershy. Your safe and you didn't get hurt. You only got…I'm not gonna be able to sleep tonight aren't I? “Blushing is not helping your case, Child” Sombra suddenly said. Fluttershy jumped back. “CAN YOU PLEASE STOP DOING THAT ALREADY?! I DON'T WANNA DIE FROM EMBARRASSMENT!?” Sombra began to laugh. He laughed so hard that he fell to the floor with tears in his eyes. Fluttershy wanted to run away from the embarrassing moment but she couldn't. So she had to deal with the laughter of King Sombra laughing at her for a number of reasons. “Ok, Ok, I'm done. That sudden outburst was funny!” Sombra said while rubbing the last tears from his eyes. “Don't be embarrassed, Child I only promise to do it again if you entertain me enough hehehe ha!” Sombra mocked. He left Fluttershy shaking her head and trying to focus on one thing at a time. It took some time but eventually Fluttershy managed to pull herself together. “May I ask what you got out of that?” Fluttershy asked Sombra. “Obvious answer should be Obvious, Child” Sombra said while holding and staring at one of the playing cards. He had been staring at this one card for at least three minutes or so. “Now be silent. I'm attempting something.” Fluttershy watched Sombra just stare at the card like it had a soul. It was creepy-- right up until the card itself turned into a puff of smoke. Sombra shook away the smoke and revealed he was holding the very same card. “Really!? It didn't even-” suddenly the card started to glow and that glow got bigger. The light blinded both of the ponies and suddenly they fell on something soft. “Ow! That.. Hurt.. Wait, where?”- Fluttershy opened her eyes and couldn't believe that she was back in her guest room. “Ohh that's not good. Wait where's Sombra?” He was right next to her and more unfortunately he was completely knocked out on her bed. Even when I win I still lose! Great! What am I supposed to do now? OK, calm down Fluttershy just take it one step at a time. What's the next logical step here? Fluttershy took a look around her room and saw nothing that could help her in this situation. She then looked at Sombra himself and again thought of nothing. I'm so fucked Princess Celestia was in complete silence. Fluttershy felt like she was ready to die anytime now. She told her story to Celestia and her reaction to it was this. The fact that she couldn't read Celestia face didn't help the situation. Was the Princess upset at her? Would Celestia replace her with someone else now? Would Celestia just teleport Sombra back to his cell? So many questions swam in Fluttershy’s head. But then a smile crept up on the Princess. That smile turned into a chuckle that then turned into a giggle and then full blown laughter. Celestia rubbed away a tear from her eye “Fluttershy, when I said help him I didn't think you would lead him into your bed. So what's next?” Celestia’s playful tone confused made Fluttershy red in the face. She was expecting to get yelled at not this. “Princess Celestia please take this a little bit seriously. I don't need more embarrassment attacking me today” Fluttershy replied. She was obviously off balance and Celestia knew what that felt like. So in response Celestia pointed to her bathroom. “I'll tell you what, Fluttershy, take a shower and collect yourself while you're in there. The showerhead is removable by the way, so please take your time. If that's your thing. Once your done we'll discuss what to do next and don't worry about new clothes, they will be there when you get out.” Fluttershy did not get a chance to reply because she was being pushed to the bathroom by Celestia’s magic. It took thirty minutes for Fluttershy to come out of the bathroom, but she looked way more comfortable than when she came in Celestia’s room. “Do you feel better, Fluttershy?” Celestia asked. “Ohh yes I absolutely needed that. Thank you, Princess” Fluttershy happily replied. Fluttershy took her original seat and felt like she could take on the world. “So how was it” Celestia said grinning. Fluttershy looked away embarrassed and the Princess chuckled. “That's fine. I bet you enjoyed the pressure of the water though hehehe~” “Princess! Please can we move away from this?” Fluttershy could see from the corner of her eye that Celestia was enjoying the teasing. Although the Princess wasn't wrong in her estimating it wouldn't be a good idea to give her more ammo. “Fine fine I'll stop. It's pretty funny though. So what do you want me to do about Sombra?” Celestia asked putting her hands under her chin. She could see that Fluttershy either completely forgot about that or didn't have an answer it to begin with. Fluttershy starched her cheek with a finger while avoiding eye contact with the Princess “Uhhh…I have no idea..” Celestia smiled at the reaction “Fluttershy, you're seriously a bad liar. You make Twilight look good at it and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing.” Fluttershy froze instantly. She definitely didn't want to make eye contact with the Princess now. “You want him out of the dungeon correct? As much as I don't like the idea, my faith in you far outweighs that, Fluttershy” Celestia spoke calmly. That tone caused Fluttershy to turn to Celestia. “I..don't know..-” “It is fine, Fluttershy I understand. But the world and this quest of yours is gonna get way heavier once you leave this room. Are you sure that you want this?” For the first time in a while Celestia saw that thing in Fluttershy’s eyes that made her choose Fluttershy in the first place “Princess Celestia, I'm gonna try my very hardest to not disappoint you or Equestria” Fluttershy said standing up and bowing respectfully. “I know, Fluttershy” Celestia said proudly. Fluttershy returned to her room after talking to Princess Celestia about the details of keeping Sombra out of the dungeon. She came to a Sombra who was sitting in the middle of the bed focusing on something eyes closed tight. “So I assume I'll be going back to the dungeon in the morning.” Fluttershy walked up to bed and sat down on the side with her back turned to Sombra. “I don't think I have to tell you to behave properly do I?” Fluttershy. Replied calmly. “She must really believe in you, Child. Be sure to not disappoint your Princess because failure isn't an option for you now.” This was the first time ever Fluttershy has heard Sombra talking with a level head. Still, knowing that even more pressure is upon her now caused the mare to be mentally bankrupt. “If that's the case then you better not make the wrong moves, Sombra.” Fluttershy crawled underneath her blanket, placed her head her pillow and went straight to sleep. Or anything close to sleep since that moment kept popping up in her head. Maybe she was being foolish by going to sleep right next to Sombra, but Fluttershy extremely hoped he wouldn't try anything.
Chapter FiveView OnlineSaving the kingChapter Five“Oh, right this is happening.” After a good night of sleep Fluttershy was surprised to see King Sombra sleeping next to her. I wonder what he's dreaming about. Would Princess Luna even let him? Please, let's not think about that and get just ready for whatever today is going to demand. After getting off the bed, a nice warm shower warm shower and getting dressed Fluttershy stepped outside her room to find two guards on each side of her bedroom door. Looks like Princess Celestia assigned these two here recently. “Good morning” Fluttershy spoke. The guards nodded but didn't say anything. Looks like they are the silent types. “Do you guys know where Princess Celestia is?” “She's in her office. Just right down this hallway, take the right and it's the fourth door down” One of the guards replied. Fluttershy nodded as a thank you and made her way to Celestia's office. As always the castle was busy with ponies doing their duties. Maids and other staff members working at different paces but they all made seem so non-chaotic. When Fluttershy finally reached her destination the Princess told her to come in before she even knocked. “Good morning, Princess Celestia I hope I'm not interrupting anything important” Fluttershy said while walking in. The Princess greeted Fluttershy with a smile. “No not at all, Fluttershy . Please take a seat. I'm assuming you want to know about the guards outside your room?” Fluttershy shook her head as she sat down on a chair. “They're there to watch Sombra right?” Fluttershy asked. “And to come running in just in case something goes wrong. Although I don't think anything will happen. Can't be too prepared for this type of thing you know?” Celestia finished. “So then, are you here for some more advice?” Celestia asked while putting her hands under her chin. “Honestly yes. I'm drawing a blank here on what to do next.” Celestia tilted her head at head that statement “Really? That's surprising since you been winging it so far.” Fluttershy blushed a bit “I think you're giving me a little too much credit there, Princess.” Celestia chuckled “That's the funniest thing because I don't think I'm giving you enough credit for handling things the way you are. Speaking of handling things Twilight and Rainbow Dash are coming to see you later. Maybe they can help you.” “I know they can. But, then what about Sombra I can't just leave him alone can I?” “Take him with you if you're that worried” Celestia proclaimed with no hesitation. Fluttershy recoiled but quickly recovered. “Uhh, that's too many unpredictable elements in that situation, Princess. I can't count on anyone keeping their cool in those moments” Fluttershy said calmly. It's not that Fluttershy didn't trust her friends, it's just in a manner of speaking opposites tend to attract one another. “I see what you mean. If that's the case when you go out with your friends Sombra will be permitted to walk around the castle while being followed of course.” “Thank you, Princess. I promise you won't regret that decision” Fluttershy claimed while standing up and bowing her head. Celestia nodded along and waved Fluttershy off respectfully. With that out of the way Fluttershy went back to her room. Fluttershy came into her expecting everything to be normal. But since she was Friends with a God of chaos all everything she was expecting was thrown out of the window. She thought that Sombra and Discord disliked each other. However, here they were in her room not fighting or yelling at each other, but they were playing a game of chess. Fluttershy couldn't believe what she was witnessing. By the way the pieces were positioned it looked like Discord was about to win. “I'm impressed, Sombra I actually had to think about a few moves there. Would you like to go again after this loss?” What is this?! This is so weird! Fluttershy thought to herself. “No, now please go away. I have to prepare for today's events” Sombra declared while getting up from the bed and going into the bathroom. Fluttershy wasn't surprised that Sombra completely ignored her. However, she was surprised that he gave up so easily when he clearly had moves left on the chessboard. Discord on the other hand played the next few moves quickly so that he could win. That didn't surprise Fluttershy either. “So do you mind telling what that was, Discord?” Fluttershy questioned while crossing her arms and waiting for the potential of a good story to cross her ears. Discord greeted his friend with a smile she knew very well. “Well obviously I wanted to play a prank when Sombra woke up. However, when I came In he (sadly) was already up. Since neither of us felt like fighting we settled on a game of chess. He's good, but not as good as I hoped. Honestly I'm just glad to see you're ok, my dear.” Fluttershy hugged Discord and he returned the gesture. The two friends separated and then with a gesture Discord asked Fluttershy for a game of chess. The two have played many times before and Discord ahead but that didn't stop Fluttershy one bit. “Are you sure you wanna lose, Discord?” Fluttershy asked very confidently. “Come on, my dear friend, show me what you got!” Discord responded with vigor. Sombra came out of the bathroom to find Fluttershy laying down on the bed. From her expression Sombra already knew what happened. “How badly did you lose, Child?” He asked while looking over her. “Discord was holding back the entire time. I feel completely stupid at the moment.” Fluttershy ’s flat tone didn't phase Sombra. In fact he found it kinda annoying. “You mean you don't feel stupid all time, Child? That's dissatisfying to hear.” “Your petty insults mean nothing. Try something different.” Sombra raised an eyebrow. Those last three words gave him an idea and he wasn't one to pass on an opportunity. “If you say so, Child-” Sombra charged his horn and moved that magic to his left foot. He kicked the bed knocking Fluttershy into the air suddenly. Fluttershy ’s “AHh!” was a sign that she was knocked out of whatever feeling she was in. “-You're welcome.” Sombra took his seat on the bed while Fluttershy hovered over him. “What was that for?!” Fluttershy asked angrily. Sombra didn't bother looking at her. Instead he chose to just lay down on the bed with his eyes closed. “To knock you out of whatever that was. Again, you're welcome.” While Fluttershy was hovering over Sombra she couldn't help but look at the scars Sombra wore. Although she was angry at him that question quickly came running back to the forefront. Ugh! I guess now this is a better time than any other. I expect a non-answer. When Fluttershy finally landed on the bed she worked the steam to let the question out. “Hey, why do you choose to wear those scars when you can easily make them go away?” “The easy answer is: because it makes me look more intimidating. The hard answer is: it's a reminder” Sombra answered. “A reminder?” Fluttershy asked with interest. “To remind myself that I'm doing a good job so far.” “Yeah.. I don't believe that.” That got Sombra to turn his head to Fluttershy . “What makes you think I'm lying, Child?” Fluttershy could hear the curiosity behind Sombra’s question. Even if he didn't truly care he did let the mask slip just a little bit. Fluttershy was not going to let that slip past her. “It's too simple for you. You don't do simple. So please tell me the entire truth” Fluttershy requested. Sombra continued to stare at her for a time. He looked like he was thinking about telling her the words she wanted to hear. Then he went back to his original position without saying anything. Needless to say Fluttershy was kinda angry. “Ugh! It's always one step forward and two steps backwards with you!” Sombra didn't respond which meant Fluttershy had to get his attention another way. She moved her body and reached for Sombra grabbing his shoulder and forcing him to face upright. Then Sombra opened his eyes to find Fluttershy climbed on top of him. “Is this what you're like when you're angry? I'm not impressed” Sombra said with no emotion. “Can you please pretend to care about anything for once!” Fluttershy yelled. Sombra continued to give the mare on top of him a flat expression. “If I were you, Child I'd think my next move very carefully. You never know what-” “Oh boo woo, empty threat don't you think?!” Fluttershy interrupted rather boldly. Sombra evilly chuckled and just let his actions speak for themselves. Those actions came in the form of physically overpowering Fluttershy reversing their position. Fluttershy struggled to break free but the more she struggled the more enjoyment Sombra got out of it. When Fluttershy got tried the two ponies locked eyes for the first time that morning. “You know, when you spoke about me being one step forward and two backwards the same thing can be applied to you, Child. Why are you trying so hard?” Sombra asked with curiosity in his voice. Wait--now he's pretending to care!? Why is he like this?! I..don't get it! “How do you expect a mare to act when you constantly ignore her! ?” “You're not getting an apology so don't ask. Second, how was I supposed to know you were the type to force yourself onto me? Do you like this kind of thing, Child?” Sombra’s question caused Fluttershy to blush. This is not how she thought this morning would go. “Is this just a game to you?!” Fluttershy replied. “You started the game, Child. Don't blame me for playing it. Blame yourself for not playing it correctly. Any other questions?” While Sombra continued to tease Fluttershy his right ear twitched at the sound of the bedroom door opening and two sets of footsteps walking in. Oh great, what now! “F-Fluttershy !” Fluttershy knew that voice, it was.. “R-rainbow?” “Fluttershy , are you okay?!” “Twilight?!” Well this is just wonderful and embarrassing. I'm not looking forward to this conversation later. Sombra and Fluttershy looked at each other. Needless to say that this was not a good look for either of them. But at this point Sombra had made the ‘‘I don't care’’ look. Fluttershy shook her head almost begging him not to do anything stupid. It didn't work so then Fluttershy got desperate. She brought her mouth up to Sombra’s ear and very quietly whispered something she knew he would like. Sombra thought about it for a quick moment and shook his head in silent agreement. He got off Fluttershy and went back to laying down on the bed. Needless to say Rainbow Dash and Twilight were going to need a bottle of hard cider for this one. “So let me get this straight, Fluttershy. We came in at the wrong time and what we saw was a complete misunderstanding?” Rainbow asked. “Yes.” “So he wasn't hurting you?” “He was not” “So we don't need to go back kick his ass?” “You do not.” Rainbow and Twilight could see on Fluttershy ’s face she wished that Celestia's sun would wipe her out right now. They could've semi understand her position. “Hmm.. Too bad I would have loved to see Twilight fight him again. My money would've been on Twilight of course” Rainbow said shrugging her shoulders. “Rainbow, now is not the time!” Fluttershy replied with a red face. “What? You're telling me that you wouldn't love to see that rematch? I would.” “I.. Can't believe you right now.” “Um, girls can I say something?” Twilight spoke with a smile that tried to defuse the situation. Both Fluttershy and Rainbow turned their heads away from each other. Twilight giggled at her friends silliness. “Fluttershy I know this is an embarrassing situation to be in. However, If you don't mind I would like to know the whole story. From the beginning if you don't mind that is.” Fluttershy turned back around “do I have to, Twilight?” she replied softly. “Of course not. But in order for us to help you we need to hear some more details. I won't blame you for leaving out any details you find embarrassing or incriminating.” “Incriminating? The only crime Fluttershy has ever committed was sleeping in too late for a flying test that one time” Rainbow Dash commented. “Rainb-” “No No, Twilight she's right. Although, Rainbow Dash let's us not forget that some pony here caused a really bad early winter in Ponyville and that mare's punishment was to clean it all up by herself. It took you a month by the way” Fluttershy grinned. Twilight laughed and Rainbow’s face glew pink. “J-just tell your stupid story already” Rainbow embarrassingly repiled. “Gladly. It all started-” Fluttershy told (mostly) the entire story. She left out some embarrassing details and the deal she made with Sombra earlier. Twilight wore her thinking face. Her mind must have been running around at the speed of light because she had an idea that she was clearly proud of. “What's the idea now, Twilight?” Rainbow asked. “One detail in that is speaking out to me. You said it seems like he enjoys a good challenge right, Fluttershy ?” “Yeah--why?” Fluttershy asked curiously. Twilight motioned her friends to come in close. They did and with a low soft voice Twilight told them her plan. “Woah, Twilight that's hardcore even for me” Rainbow dash proclaimed. “Yeah, Twilight I don't know about that. What if something goes wrong?” Fluttershy asked. “But that's the fun part! Nothing will” Twilight replied with a huge smile on her face. She was not willing to come up with a different plan. “Just thinking about it is giving me a dopamine rush!” “We can clearly see that, Twilight. Honestly, Fluttershy I think you should go for it. I don't see a fault in it and it sounds like fun once you meet all the conditions” Rainbow Dash stated. “If” being the keyword there” Fluttershy responded. The plan was solid and it did somewhat line up with the deal she made with Sombra. Then Sombra’s words came up from earlier. He said don't hate him for playing the game. Fine, it's my turn anyway “You know what, Twilight I'll do it.” “That's the answer I was looking for! Let's go!” Twilight excitedly exclaimed. With the happiest grin she could produce Twilight teleported herself and her friends back to her castle to get started on her plan. The rest of the day was spent with Fluttershy being tested on by Twilight. Needless to say that by the end of it she was extremely tired. Nothing a bed and good rest couldn't fix. She thought about the plan over and over again. The choice of not doing it was still there and no matter how she sliced it, it was dangerous. Hmm.. “Had a hard day, Child?” Fluttershy looked up to find Sombra a few steps in front of her. He wore his usual expressionless face. But, it looked like he was a little annoyed at something. “Sombra? They're letting you walk around the Castle?” Sombra nodded “as long as these guards follow me. It's really annoying!” Sombra groaned. Fluttershy walked past Sombra and saw the guards. Fluttershy could see why Sombra was annoyed they were burning a hole in his back. Fluttershy gave them a warm smile, bowed slightly, and waved them off. The guards nodded along and went the other way around the corner. Now it was just her and Sombra in an empty castle hallway. Princess Celestia must've told them to follow Sombra around until I showed up. “Thanks. So why do you look so jetlagged?” Sombra questioned. “I need to talk to you about something” Fluttershy said while turning around to Sombra. He looked interested. “Is it about our deal?” Sombra asked. “That and more. Here though. Let's go back to my room and we'll discuss it there.” Fluttershy took the first steps towards her room in the castle and Sombra followed her. “So what do you want to talk about?” Sombra asked Fluttershy . She told him about the entire plan. “So what do you think?” Fluttershy stated with curiosity. Sombra started to laugh. “I'm guessing you don't like it?” “I'm laughing at your stupidity, Child. I don't why you choose to be a pawn in everyone's game. But by all means if you want to continue to play and dance with fire I'm not going to stop you.” Sombra went back to laughing at Fluttershy . For some reason she wasn't as embarrassed as she thought she would be. “I'll take that as a yes. If we're going to do this I need to sleep first.” “Yeah, yeah whatever” Sombra replied. A few hours later it was nighttime. The moon was high in the sky which set light to the almost empty castle hallways. Fluttershy didn't think it would be hard to sneak out of the castle, but Luna’s bat ponies had sharpened senses which made it a lot more difficult. After the last guard took his eyes off the castle entrance Sombra and Fluttershy made their move. Sombra teleported them both outside where the light of the moon made the streets of Canterlot seem more lively than they actually were. “I got to hand it to you, Child I actually didn't think you had the guts to go through with this” Sombra said. “Well, I figured sneaking out the castle would break up the usual pattern. Although, after this there may not be a pattern anymore” Fluttershy responded looking down the moonlit street. Sombra shrugged his shoulders “You say that like it's a problem.” “When the problem is you (and I'm not helping the situation) I think I have the right to worry don't you think?” “Sure you do. Just don't blame me if this backfires in the long run” “Which is why-” Fluttershy suddenly stepped in front of Sombra, reached out to grab both his wrist and looked at him “You're not going to doing anything stupid after this. I don't want you going after the Crystal Empire again. You know what they say about third strikes right?” “Is that a threat, Child? What makes you think you can stop me if I decided to do so?” Fluttershy grinned boldly and that's when Sombra noticed her eyes. They were changing color from her normal blue to red. It wasn't too obvious unless one paid attention to it. On top of that Sombra noticed that Fluttershy was a little stronger than she was earlier. “What? You know I wouldn't threaten you? I don't have the strength to. I'm just saying you might want to think about your next move before you make it. Now, we don't have all night. Let's get moving.” Fluttershy let go of Sombra and walked ahead of him. That's when he noticed Fluttershy ’s wings. The tips weren't normal. They were almost like a bat ponies. She's going through a transformation? And it's affecting her personality. Hmm.. Bold move, Child. Bold move indeed. Sometime later Sombra found himself kneeling down behind a bush next to Fluttershy . They were across the street from their destination. “The Canterlot Archives. Twilight said there would be more guards. Oh well, makes this a little easier. Teleport us in and I'll lead the way” Fluttershy declared. Sombra did and they found themselves inside the building. Twilight was extremely detailed in directing Fluttershy on where to go and Fluttershy followed it down to the exact detail. After avoiding the guards that were there Fluttershy and Sombra hit a corner. Looking past it revealed two guards standing next to a door. “Why don't I just teleport us in?” Sombra asked quietly. “That room has a security system that detects magic coming in. It stops when you use the key to unlock the door. So we need a way to get the key off the guards” Fluttershy replied. “In that case wait here. Don't come out until you hear the door open.” “You're going- just knock them out okay?” “No promises, Child.” Sombra went past Fluttershy and turned the corner. He walked up to the guards until they noticed him. They told him to stop and of course he didn't listen. The guards saw Sombra charging his horn they both decided to attack him. Without saying anything Sombra stood still made a hole in the floor in front of the guards. The guards fell into the hole came out of the sealing hitting the floor face first knocking them both out instantly. Sombra took the key and unlocked the door. Fluttershy came out and checked the guards. They were fine and she thanked Celestia for that. After that she found herself in the room Twilight told her about. The room was library like, with three floors housing different books and various papers. It was completed by a massive window that the moon's light was shining through. “So now we need to find a certain book right?” Sombra questioned. When Fluttershy didn't answer him he turned around to find her standing in the middle of the room. It could've been the light, but Sombra could've sworn Fluttershy had gotten a little taller. Her wings were completely different and her eyes were now completely red. Not as dark as his, but it was something to behold. This isn't that innocent child anymore. This is something different. Her posture screamed confident and..Did her hair color get lighter? Fluttershy raised her left hand, it glowed with magic and then Sombra heard something behind him. Suddenly a dark blue flew past him at fast speed and into Fluttershy ’s hand. She opened the book looking for the page Twilight told her about. “Ok, got it. Sombra, stand here, read the page, and then we'll go from there” Fluttershy said. Sombra didn't bother questioning what Fluttershy told him. However, he had to ask one question that was bugging him to no end. “Before I read this page, Child tell me something. Was this transformation of yours necessary?” Fluttershy looked directly at Sombra and flashed her wings. “Now isn't the time for questions. Just read the page and let's get out of here.” Sombra wanted to say something back at Fluttershy , but decided to let it go since she was correct. When Sombra looked down to read the page he was stunned to find the letters were in old Equestrian. It's only natural for old stuff like this to be here. Why do I have deja vu all of a sudden? Whatever just get on with it! Sombra sighed and continued. “Fix my error bring me back to the center even better forever. A hasty recovery is what I cast, refill my battery and mastery.” For a moment nothing happened. Then the book started to shake in Fluttershy ’s hands. Suddenly the book flew out of her hands and above Sombra. Just when he was to speak the book caused a small magical explosion that knocked him to the ground and blinded him for a second. When Sombra came to he felt way better. Whatever, that spell was it sure did the trick. I'm sure I won't have a problem with some spells now. Now where did- Great she's out cold. Sombra heard what sounded like guards rushing towards the room. Since he didn't have to think about it he picked up Fluttershy ’s body and book teleported them out the building. A few moments later Sombra landed on a rooftop somewhere in Canterlot. He put Fluttershy down and looked at the cover of the book. He was surprised by what he saw. “This is-” “Well well well looks like you got yourself into some trouble” The mysterious voice said. Sombra turned around to find out who it was. “Hello there, Sombra.” “Princess Luna.” Luna was obviously indifferent to seeing Sombra but what was shocking to see was Fluttershy out cold. “What did you do to her?” Luna asked with a tone of rage Sombra hasn't heard in a while. “Nothing. Now do you mind telling me why you have a nightmare moon’s book in your archive.” Luna raised her hand and magically grabbed the book from Sombra. She opened the book to the exact page he read from earlier. “You used her dark recovery spell? How did you even know this existed?” “That's for me to know and for you to never find out, Princess.” Luna shook her head and started to chuckle “I think you forgot how this went last time. Now be a good pony and just tell me what I need to know” Luna started to charge her magic, but then Sombra did something she wasn't expecting. He put his hands up like he wasn't going to defend himself. “Wha-” “Trust me, Luna if I wasn't in the position I was in I would gladly fight you. However, since I am in this position you can't do anything.” “What makes you think I can't?” “You're not going to risk pissing off your sister or the child” Sombra spoke clearly. Luna stopped in her tracks. She hated the fact Sombra was right. His smile of confidence wasn't helping the situation either. However Luna was not one to give up so easily. She turned her attention to Fluttershy . Luna pointed one finger at the mare and shot a magical missile at her. “Sombra, you know you must be punished for breaking the law. Since I can't punish you myself I'm going to make you work for it. I don't know how Fluttershy turned into a bat pony but it looks like she hasn't eaten anything for a while and my moon is at its highest point.” “Get to the point already!” Sombra yelled. “Bat ponies get a taste for blood if they haven't eaten for a few hours. So when Fluttershy wakes up I suggest you better start running. Don't bother returning to the castle my guards are going to turn you away. See ya, Sombra!” With that Luna took off in the direction of the castle. At the same moment Fluttershy started to wake up. “ahwo! My head.. What happened?” She looked around her and saw other rooftops. Sombra came into her sights and he walked up to her. “How do you feel, Child?” “Like I got hit by a lightning bolt. Why are we on a rooftop?” “I had to get us out of the building after that book knocked you out. Before you ask yes, I'm fine.” “Oh ok that's good. One more question though. Why do you look delicious?” Sombra tilted his head in confusion. “Excuse me?” Suddenly Fluttershy knocked Sombra down to the ground. Her eyes told Sombra all he needed to know. She was hungry. Really hungry. “I asked,'' Why do you look so delicious? I clearly see the vines in your neck. I wonder how you taste~” “Child, listen to me-” “Don't bother talking your way through this. Just let me eat!” Fluttershy suddenly went for Sombra’s neck. He teleported himself aways from Fluttershy . With a predatory feminine giggle Fluttershy found him. “You can't hide from me, Sombra I can smell you.” Shit. This is going to be harder than I thought. Six hours? I can handle that. Sombra sighed and started to back up to the edge of the rooftop. One more step and he would fall. “Ok, Child. If you want me--you're going to have to catch me first!” Sombra declared with a wave of goodbye. Like a past mistake that won't leave him alone Fluttershy followed his scent. This is going to be a long six hours. “Ahhh!” Princess Celestia yawned. Her internal clock was telling her it was time to do daily duty. After lazily fixing herself up she walked onto her balcony. She was kinda surprised to see her sister sitting on her balcony with a bottle of wine with a goofy smile on her face. “Hello there, Luna. Something happened last night?” “Whatever do you mean, sister?” Celestia leaned on the edge of the balcony “You're glowing with happiness. That means something good happened to you last night. What was it? Did you get some, sister~?” “Oh ha ha very funny. But, no. Let's just say I love my job sometimes-” Luna finished the last of her drink. “-Also watching somepony you dislike run for their life is hilarious.” Celestia knew Luna was being literal by the giggles. “So pray tell. Who is this “Somepony” to who you're referring to?” Not even half a second later King Sombra came landing down on the edge of Luna’s balcony. He looked tired like he had been moving all night without a break. Luna fell backwards laughing her head off. Celestia finally knew what she meant. “Sombra? What are you doing here?!” Celestia asked. “No.. Time.. To..-” Sombra jumped to Celestia’s balcony avoiding a rock in the process. Celestia looked up into the sky to see where the object came from and saw somepony she didn't recognize flying at high speed towards Sombra. When the creature landed she had her sights dead set on Sombra. It didn't matter that two princesses were right next to her. “F-Fluttershy ?! Is that you? What happened to you?!” Luna’s laughter didn't cease in fact she only got louder. “Celestia, raise the sun. Don't argue with me just do it!” Sombra declared seriously. “No no please! I want to see if Fluttershy catches him or not!” Luna replied. “Sombra~” Fluttershy spoke softly. That's all it took for Celestia to side with Sombra. She was not going to let him be bitten by Fluttershy . “Yeah, fuck that” Celestia charged her horn. At the same time Fluttershy charged at Sombra. He managed to grab her force her to look at the rising sun. The extremely hungry bat pony obviously didn't want to sleep yet but she ran out of time. Her screaming hurt everyone's ears but they suddenly stopped when the sun was fully out. Sombra and Fluttershy fell backwards next to Celestia. They were both out cold. “Luna! You owe me an explanation for this!” “Yeah yeah. That was the funniest thing I've ever seen all year though” Luna declared happily. Author's Note Ok, truth be told readers; this chapter is long overdue. It was supposed to be out last week but something happened that I'm too embarrassed to admit. However, it's here now and I hope that you enjoyed it. As always I look forward to hearing your positive and negative thoughts on it.
Chapter SixView OnlineSaving the kingChapter SixWhen Fluttershy eventually woke up she expected to be in extreme trouble. However, the only thing she saw was the guest room she became used to since moving in. No eyes on her only gave more excuses to be more fearful of the words that were going to come from Princess Celestia's mouth next time she and Fluttershy meet. By looking out the window and judging the position of the sun it must've just hit afternoon. After seeing that she returned to normal in the bathroom, Fluttershy was extremely glad everything turned out to be physically normal. According to Twilight the spell she used on her was a one time deal. So at least that was the silver lining to it. However, now Fluttershy had to deal with the consequences of her dangerous decision. After coming out of the bathroom and seeing an unopened letter she didn't notice before made her fear the words inside of said letter. Fluttershy took the letter into her hands and with the fear of a small child she slowly opened it. With slow movement of her eyes Fluttershy saw the handwriting of Princess Celestia. That only made the internal fear grow. Fluttershy's mind instantly went to the worst possibilities possible. I'm so fired, Twilight is in trouble and Sombra is already dead. I should just pack my things, leave and never come back outside again… Okay, Fluttershy just take it one word at a time. "Dear, Fluttershy I can imagine that you're shaking in your boots right now about what I might say. However, you don't have to worry because Twilight confessed to everything. She said don't worry about her. I still have questions for you that you need to answer, but don't worry about that right now. Please, do us all a favor and just try not to risk this type situation again. That's your first and final warning. If you're going to see Sombra after reading this he's in the dungeon. Have fun." Fluttershy closed the letter and was only left with more questions. She couldn't tell if the Princess was actually upset at her. Maybe that was a good thing since it gave Fluttershy room to breathe. Ughh. Twilight said not to worry about her but that doesn't help! After this whole thing is over I have to apologize for bringing her into this. Wait.. Why is Sombra.. Oh.. Right.. I'm not looking forward to this conversation. Before moving on Fluttershy shook off the nervousness and fear violently. It felt good so she did again and again to balance herself out. After that she left her room and headed in the direction of the dungeon. With each step the nervousness returned. Eventually Fluttershy came to the top of the stairs. She sighed and took it one step at a time. Soon the lit darkness of the dungeon surrounded her. Looking down the hall Fluttershy could see Sombra's magic dimly lighting his cell. Fluttershy walked up to the cell and saw Sombra laying against the wall, eyes open looking directly at her with a blank expression. Fluttershy gulped and walked inside the cell. Sombra said nothing while his horn was still flowing with magic. "You're mad at me aren't you?" Fluttershy asked while sitting down. She watched Sombra's eyes look up and down her body for an obvious reason. He was wondering if She was going to try to bite him again. "Why does that matter to you, Child?" Sombra questioned with the same blank tone as his facial expression. "Because I need to know how many steps I took backwards because of my decision" Fluttershy replied clearly. Sombra tilted his head upwards just enough to make the mare who was clearly shaking in her shoes wonder which crummy direction this could go. "I have standards, child, so I'll give credit where it's due. Your decision did benefit me. I can now channel and cast magic without pain or recoil. I'm still very far from my peak but thanks for assisting" Sombra declared, still blank faced. Fluttershy wasn't expecting that response and it showed when she smiled slightly. However, that quickly faded. "I feel like there's a but coming." Sombra nodded along "But, then you chased me around the city for six hours straight trying to bite my neck. I don't think I need to explain what would be happening right now if you succeeded, do I, Child?" Sombra enquired. Fluttershy sighed sadly "No, you don't. I'm sor-" "Don't apologize to me, Child. I don't want it. Save it for your Princess when you see her. Although, I want you to clear something up for me." "Um, ok w-what is it?" Fluttershy asked curiously. "What was your goal in that plan of yours?" Fluttershy's reaction of blushing, looking away in embarrassment and playing with her hair gave Sombra a good idea of what answer was coming. "I.. Was.. Hoping.. You.. Would stop calling me "Child" afterwards" Fluttershy spoke under her breath and turning away from Sombra. Sombra simply sat there staring at Fluttershy with narrowed eyes. Which did not give the mare any good feelings about her actions. "If you weren't so corrupted by the idea of being a goodie little two shoes you would probably make an excellent villain." Fluttershy turned back to Somba and gave a double take. Did he really just say that to her? Was that a good statement or a bad one? She had to know. "I'm sorry can you explain that to me? I don't get where you're coming from" Fluttershy said with an underlying tone of "give me all the details right now!" "What I mean is; you're so determined to hear your name come out my mouth that putting the land you love at risk doesn't seem to matter. Your friend is in big trouble because of you, but yet here you are talking to a pony who wants your Princess dead. I guess what I'm trying to say is that; you're a massive, selfish, bitch, Child." Fluttershy couldn't believe what she just heard. She was completely stunned on top of that the blush from earlier only gotten brighter. It also didn't help that Sombra was grinning with complete confidence. However, with a face hotter and brighter than the sun Fluttershy went up to Sombra. "What?" "If I have to be selfish and a bitch in order to get you to not hurt anyone then so be it. Now shut up and let me have this for once you clueless idiot." Fluttershy did not give Sombra a chance to respond as her lips connected with his. In the back of her mind Fluttershy knew this was an extremely bad decision. Kissing a criminal--this criminal would certainly come back to hurt her later. But, for now in this moment Fluttershy was extremely happy this was even happening. When she finally disconnected from Sombra and saw that only string connecting their lips the reality of the moment hit her like a truck. Just when Fluttershy was about to lose her shit Sombra took the opportunity to knock her out completely by hitting her in the neck. Sombra placed Fluttershy on his lap and left her there. Chapter SevenView OnlineSaving the kingChapter SevenKing Sombra has lived a very interesting life. He was once King of the Crystal Empire. Everything and everyone was at the palm of his hand. Whatever words that came out his mouth was obeyed or law. However, as life would have it-- all of that power was completely destroyed. All thanks to Celestia and Luna the first time around. Everything that was his was taken away just like that like a snap of a finger. He came back for round two and failed again thanks to Twilight and her friends. Was this life's of way getting back at him for being evil? The answer was obviously yes, however, he always expected life to just end his life as revenge for all the evil atrocities he committed. Maybe life was just playing the long game with him. That would be the most ethical explanation because Sombra never expected his life to end up in the situation of the last few days. Given an opportunity at redemption? There is no redemption for him that ship passed a very long time ago. This kind of joke was very cruel even for life to make. He always had the choice of taking himself out of the world, but it always felt too disgusting to even think about. However, there was one little knocked out yellow mare that was laying on his lap that was the biggest joke of all, even topping her ruling Princess. This innocent girl playing with her life mostly torturing herself and for what? "Saving" him. That's just another joke on top of all the others. At least there was some good to come out this current mess Sombra found himself in. His magical ability came back a little bit. That little recovery he had gotten Nightmare Moon's spellbook worked really well. Now the question was; what could Sombra do with the recovery he received? A whole host of ideas came to his mind. But, only one stuck out that was the most enticing. "Dark absorption?? I need a target for that spell. Nobody in this Castle is suitable either. I can't pick fights. Wait, I have this child right here… Then if I do that it's actually over for me. Hmmm.. Wait, dark absorption doesn't require the target to be physical, it can be pure magical. To my knowledge there isn't any pure magical creatures in this city. I'm willing to bet there's some magical creatures in the everfree forest though." Sombra took some more time to think of other plans, but this one kept coming back to the front of the line since it was the safest. Obviously the biggest question now was; how could he convince or trick Fluttershy into taking him into the everfree forest? "What's the matter, Sombra? You look too deep in your thoughts. You worried about your future or something?" Sombra looked upwards towards the entrance to the cell and saw Discord standing there with his usual mocking grin. "What do you want, Draconequus?" Sombra asked calmly. Discord took two steps in an expression that was the opposite of his mocking grin and at that moment Sombra knew where this was going. Discord snapped his fingers once making Fluttershy disappear from Sombra's lap. Discord snapped his fingers again and Sombra's environment changed. Suddenly he was high in the sky above canterlot being physically held by Discord who's demeanor went from trolly to actively ready to drop Sombra. "Did you really think you could knock my best friend out and I wouldn't find out about it!" Discord angrily stated. Sombra couldn't help but laugh. "Listen here "lord of chaos". I don't want to listen to any filler you may have planned out. So how about we skip to the good part where you drop me and this "fight" actually starts?!" Sombra said while channeling his magic. Discord seemed to think about it for a second and then simply Shrugged. With his strength Discord lifted Sombra a little higher, put him in a magical box and threw Sombra as hard as he could. "Aw! Shit I didn't think he would throw me this hard!" Sombra had to think of something because he had twenty seconds before his grave would be a massive crater in the middle of a city. Sombra took a very deep breath, closed his eyes and charged his magic. With a quick swipe of both of his hands Sombra destroyed Discord's spell and managed to reposition himself to see exactly where he was going to crash headfirst. With the city rapidly approaching his face, Sombra had to think of something else quickly. He looked to his left and right, saw two clouds on both ends, magically pulled both of them under him and turned them solid just enough to land on them. With another quick movement Smobra placed his hands on the clouds and the rapidly approaching city suddenly stopped. "Five seconds left… ah aha ah ah…" Sombra's vision suddenly got worse and he so had his body and in that moment-- he collapsed. "Rapidly falling to the city below and instead of teleporting back to the Castle he decided to take the hard way out and spend his energy landing on clouds. Can't say I'm not impressed but now that he leaves me with a hard decision. Leave him here and see what happens or take him back to the castle??" Discord sat on the cloud and thought about his choice. Of course the consequences of each decision came knocking on the door, but leaving Sombra passed out a cloud seemed more pleasant. As a final act of personal revenge for his best friend Discord pushed the clouds back into the original spot he threw Sombra from. Discord chuckled "I can only imagine the amount of rage that's gonna happen when he actually wakes up." "Ughhh.. My head.. Wha-" "Shhh, my dear you're still a little groggy" "D-discord?" Fluttershy looked around to see where she was at. Her room still looked the same, but that only brought up a few questions. Questions Discord was more than happy to answer for his friend. "Long story short; I had a gut feeling something happened to you. So when I came to find you I found you knocked out next to Sombra and I acted accordingly" Discord stated with no hint of lying or regret. Before Fluttershy could respond Discord made her feel a little better by making her headache go away with a snap of his fingers. From the look on Fluttershy's face she still had more questions. "I took Sombra high above Canter lot and sent him flying towards the city at very dangerous speed. Of course he survived and now I'm disappointed that I'm thinking about it." Fluttershy laid on her bed staring at Discord. He was doing what he always did and not worry about anything, especially what he just said. In that same moment Fluttershy started to femininely giggle. "Oh, Discord what am I going to do with you? I supposed to be upset with you, but I can't!" Fluttershy then pulled Discord into a hug. "Thanks" she happily stated. "No problem at all, Fluttershy" Discord said, hugging her back. The hug ended and then Fluttershy looked outside. The sky was dark and the moon was currently rising. "Uh.. Discord?" "Yes?" "How long was I asleep for?" "Oh, um a few hours. Nine hours to be honest with you." "Did you cast a sleeping spell on me?" "Yes" SMACK The sound bounced around the round every way possible. Discord had a massive handprint on his face. He saw the smack coming, but that didn't make it any less painful. On top of that Fluttershy pulled down his face to look at hers and she was very upset at him. "Do you realize the risk you just took!" "Oh come on, Fluttershy I did it so you could rest. You got to understand that right?" "I do, HOWEVER! you, Discord! didn't have to have put me to sleep for nine hours straight and risk everything! Do you even know where Sombra is?! He could be anywhere right now! Doing whatever!" "To be fair, Fluttershy. He was completely out of energy when I left him. I find it very difficult to believe he could do anything effectively. Besides look on the bright side you basically got a whole day to yourself for once." Even though Fluttershy could poke holes in Discord's logic she found it best to just let it go for now. With a frustrated sigh she let him go and laid back on the bed with an arm over her eyes. She thought about what to do next. Finding Sombra was the first thing to come to mind, however he could be anywhere by now doing who knows what. "If it makes you feel any better, Fluttershy he's right where I left him before" Discord said. "Discord, I'm not going to call you a liar, but we're talking about a pony who wants to enslave all of us. Why wouldn't he be somewhere else doing whatever an evil king does?" Fluttershy asked. "Well, my dear I hate to remind you, but that's exactly what you're trying to figure out. Okay bye." "Wa-" Before Fluttershy even knew how to process Discord's incorrect statement she found herself outside and on a cloud that Sombra just happened to be on. "You've been gone all day, Child. I actually started to think I'd gotten rid of you for good. How unfortunate for me that you suddenly show up out of thin air" He claimed staring off into the distance. Fluttershy looked below her and saw canterlot. She'd never been this high in the sky before and longer she looked down the more she felt uncomfortable at this height. "I have so many questions," She said out loud. "You get three. So choose wisely" Sombra fired back. Fluttershy stared at Sombra who continued to stare off into the distance. Clearly he was focused on something. "Well okay.-" Fluttershy tried staring off into the distance just like Sombra, but since she had no idea what he was truly focusing on-- it was mostly a failed endeavor. "What are you staring at?" She asked nicely as she took her seat next to him. "The everfree forest" Sombra replied. Fluttershy tilted her head in confusion "Wha- why would you-? Wait.. What's the dangerous plan this time!? Are you.. Actually planning to go in there??" She questioned with an obvious hint of worry and fear. Sombra meant Fluttershy by turning his attention to her with the blank expression as in his voice. "Don't tell me you're scared of a forest, Child. Because that would be the saddest joke ever." "It's literally the most dangerous and scary place in Equestria. The creatures in there don't care about anything except their own lives and will kill anypony if they feel even slightly threatened. Just thinking about it gives me the shivers." Fluttershy wasn't lying because she started to shake. Sombra sat there looking at fear taking over Fluttershy. Even at their first ever meeting Fluttershy was shaking this much and that meant Sombra had to do something he hadn't done in a very long time. With his magic he grabbed Fluttershy and forced her down onto his lap. From there he stroked her head in a relaxing rhythm. It worked, but in the back of Sombra's mind he hated this. On the other end Fluttershy just let it happen. "I shouldn't be enjoying this," Fluttershy thought to herself. When Sombra finished consoling Fluttershy he pushed her off his lap and suddenly teleported them both to the everfree forest. ***** Every step taken was another step towards the obvious question of what Fluttershy and Sombra were actually looking for. Fluttershy tried to play it as cool as she could, but hearing creepy sounds all around her, to having little moonlit to actually seeing where she was going, and on top of that she could have sworn to hear very faint sounds of something roaring in anger. Sombra was unfazed by this environment since he used to live in it. The walking continued as normal until both Fluttershy and Sombra heard that faint roar again. It sounded closer this time, but still far away. Then another roar came soon after. However this sounded young, very young like a beast child. Sombra looked towards the direction of the roaring and went that way with Fluttershy very close behind him. Five minutes later Sombra and Fluttershy came across something unusual. A very big purple Ursa major and it's child facing down ten Timberwolves. It was a very tense standoff. Fluttershy noticed the damage the Ursa minor took. The deep cuts on its legs and feet meant the poor thing could barely stand up straight. It's claws were also damaged probably due its the battle with the Timberwolves. Its mother had the same if not way more damage done to her too. "Well, what now?" Fluttershy asked. "I need those Timberwolves. So I need you to deal with those Ursas" Replied Sombra. "But I never dealt with Ursas before and look at them, do you think they will listen to anything I'll say?" "They will after you give me your hand." Sombra held out his hand to Fluttershy. She hesitated at first, but then she took Sombra's hand. Suddenly she felt a rush of power within her. It felt completely different from the power from her element necklace. This felt way more focused in one direction and it felt really good. "This should get both groups to listen to you for a while. Now go, it won't last long." With that said Fluttershy gulped, took one step forward, then another until the shadows of the everfree forest no longer covered her presence. Whatever Sombra did to her it must have worked because both Timberwolves and the Ursas took notice of Fluttershy. With a very deep sigh the mare took another step forward which caused the intensity of the situation to turn up a little. Fluttershy took a few more steps until she was in the middle of the standoff. She could feel the hot breaths of the Ursas so she turned to them first. The growling from the mother increased when Fluttershy got closer. Soon the two were staring into each other's eyes. "I don't know what started this fight. I wish I could heal you both, but believe me when I say I don't want you or your getting anymore hurt. It's a mother's duty to protect her family and right now you're failing at doing that. So I want you to turn around, forget about this fight okay?" Fluttershy spoke with a cool head. The Ursa major roared in Fluttershy's face in order to scare her, but when Fluttershy gave her "the stare" the mother started to back up slowly. Eventually she and her cub went back into the darkness of the everfree forest. "That's one down. What about the others?" Fluttershy turned around to face the ten Timberwolves. Unfortunately they were pissed off at her for ending their "fun" so two of the ten charged straight for Fluttershy. "Sit" Fluttershy demanded. All of the Timberwolves suddenly sat down and were afraid of Fluttershy. Fluttershy then raised her hand above her head and snapped her Fingers. All the Timberwolves exploded leaving behind their magic. For some reason this did not faze Fluttershy not one bit. Then she heard clapping of the highest praise. "Congratulations, Child. You handled that very well. I'm actually impressed" Sombra announced proudly. Sombra's horn glowed and the ten Timberwolves magic were collected. Sombra immediately felt the effects of it and felt extremely good about himself. "If I knew this worked I would have done it A long time ago!" Fluttershy stood there watching an actually excited Sombra be proud of himself for once. For a few moments his body language wasn't the emotions of extremely cold, extremely distant, angry or emotionally empty. Genuine excitement leaked from the dark king which made Fluttershy happy for him. That feeling only grew when Sombra snapped his fingers and suddenly his old armour came back as well as his old cape. He only wore the outfit for a minute, but due to his current situation he couldn't wear it like normal. So he switched to a normal cantorlot street outfit. With that being over and done with Fluttershy walked up to Sombra with a question on her mind. "So what did you do to me?" She asked. "Temporary fear removal. I didn't actually expect you to kill the Timberwolves. So you have my praise for that, child" Sombra replied with a grin. "The effect should wear off in a bit. Now come-" Suddenly out of nowhere Sombra hit his head on the ground facing the moon above. He didn't have to think about what just happened because Fluttershy got on top of him. Her facial expression told Sombra that she wanted something out of this and she will get it. "I'm not going to waste my time, Sombra. I don't why I'm doing this again, but I'm warning you; don't do anything stupid. I don't want to fail because the pony I'm supposed to be "saving" went on a stupid power trip!" Fluttershy yelled. Being dead serious only made Sombra chuckled like it didn't bother him. "Okay, Child here's the thing you need to realize. For as long as you're alive and a Thorn in my side your friends and family are safe. I can't believe that I have to explain this very obvious fact to you. Are you happy now?" Sombra asked while looking straight into Fluttershy's eyes. She wasn't satisfied with that. "Promise me" Fluttershy said softly. "Come on, c-" "PROMISE ME, SOMBRA! YOU SAID IT YOURSELF, I'M PLAYING A DANGEROUS GAME HERE AND I NEED THAT FUCKING SAFETY NET FOR FUCKS SAKE!" Fluttershy yelled. Sombra sighed. He couldn't believe Fluttershy of all ponies were making him do this. "Fine. You have my word, Child. Anything else?" Sombra asked. Although he knew what was coming next. "Yeah. Before I pass out, my house is seven minutes west from here and the key is under the mat at the front door. Carry me home." with that Fluttershy did indeed pass out on top of Sombra. Things suddenly got silent and Sombra could hear himself think again. "After all that you have the nerve to pass out on me, Child? If I didn't find you so entertaining I would have killed you long ago." Sombra got up from the ground with Fluttershy on his shoulder. "I have the chance to leave her here and see what happens. No.. no I already opened my big mouth and made a promise. How unfortunate for me that I keep my promises.." With more of his magical ability restored to him Sombra had no problem avoiding potential problems while heading to Fluttershy's home. That doesn't mean Sombra could be careless though he knew when he was being followed either by something or someone and they knew how to keep just enough distance to not be outed completely. When Sombra finally got close enough to see full moonlight the thing(s) that were Following Sombra stopped too. "She lives near the entrance to this place. Why doesn't that surprise me?" Sombra thought. He teleported to Fluttershy's front door, magically moved the key to its pairing lock and went inside. Sombra was greeted by a regular looking home, nothing out of the ordinary stuck out. The moonlight shined on the stairs thanks to a conveniently placed window. Sombra teleported to the top of the stairs and opened the door to Fluttershy's bedroom. He was greeted by a room the same yellow and pink color as the mare he was carrying. Sombra placed Fluttershy on her bed and for a second he had a thought. "WHY IN THE LIVING FUCK ARE YOU DOING THIS?! KILL HER AND BE DONE WITH IT!" Sombra tilted his head and clinched his fist. Why was he having this inner debate now? He stood there thinking really fast, thought after thought after thought came and went until suddenly Sombra put his hand in the air and it came back down bright red magic in hand. This is it-- all he had to do was fire and it would be over. In that moment in time Sombra took the time to reflect on his time with Fluttershy. "It hasn't been too bad so far. Sure, she's Celestia's chess queen on the chess board, but really nothing has happened so far that I couldn't handle… Uugghh! Fine! You win this time, Child. I hate the fact I put myself in this toxic situation!" Sombra dispersed his magic and put his hand down. He walked out of Fluttershy's bedroom, went downstairs into the living room and decided to take a much needed relaxating sleep. Hopefully with more of his magic back the rest of time with Fluttershy won't be so "annoying" to him. Author's Note I'm sorry this took so long. It was not supposed to be this way! "The process hasn't been that much more painful than discord to be honest. Getting Sombra to talk has been a major headache. That has required me to trade something for a half decent conversation. He stared down at Ponyville below him- seeing the town's citizens go about their daily lives not knowing what's just above their heads. "That look looks really bad on you by the way, Sombra." Sombra ignored the comment and went on the roof with Discord. "We stopped those Ursa's from fighting some Timberwolves. It could've been much worse, but I guess it got that way anyway. Ugh.. Wish I could fix this!" Fluttershy frustratingly stated and rubbing her forehead. "Just kill the creature and be done with it" Discord and Sombra voiced at the same time. Fluttershy shot them both an angry expression. Discord shut up but Sombra took it as a challenge. "If I've done that you would NOT be here right now. Or have you forgotten that, Discord? And you, Sombra, I suggest you remind yourself what situation you're in!" Fluttershy said completely seriously. Sombra chuckled at the statement "Okay okay, Child you got it. Just calm down and focus on the task at hand." Fluttershy sighed and simply waited for her friends to show up. "You mind telling me what that was? That's not like you, Sombra hehehe. Is She rubbing off on you?" Discord whispered in Sombra's ear. "Don't make me toss you into whatever version of hell you deserve, draconequus." Sombra spoke back. "Whatever sad ex-king! Do you think this will go badly?" Sombra thought about the question tossed at him. He looked to his right and saw Twilight heading toward them, turning back he saw Fluttershy just staring at the Everfree Forest . Then Sombra sighed in frustration. "I'll help if you help and we will never speak about this again do you hear you me?" Sombra murmured. Discord shrugged in agreement and both of them shot magic at Fluttershy which caused her to stumble forward. "Hey, You two! what was that for!?" Twilight questioned landing next to Fluttershy checking to see if she was okay. "Where are your other friends, Princess? I thought they would be with you" Discord said. "I told the others to stay back just in case something else happens. In any case why are you here, Discord?" "The enjoyment of the situation! That's why!" Discord proudly exclaimed. Twilight helped Fluttershy up and the same moment she did, out of the corner of her eye, she saw something coming their way really fast. In the moment she picked Fluttershy up and got out-of-the-way. A big rock flew by and then the Ursa Major herself. "Wait, it's bigger than normal! Why is it bigger?" Twilight questioned. The Ursa suddenly stopped and sniffed the air. It looked around finding Fluttershy and Twilight floating above it. It roared at Fluttershy and Twilight making them shake in their boots. But then the Ursa didn't do anything but sniff the air again and look for whatever it was looking for. Again it stopped, turned its attention to Discord and Hot Flame then it charged at them. "GUY'S MOVE!" Twilight yelled. They moved out-of-the-way landing on the ground below in front of the cottage. The Ursa did not give up as it chased after them. Discord and Hot Flame split up to confuse the creature-- it didn't work as it tried to attack Hot Flame. Sombra looked like he enjoyed just dancing around the creature dodging the wide swipes that came his way. Sombra stopped running and stood still baiting the Ursa to attack him. The Ursa stopped and opened its mouth to roar again. That's what Sombra thought-- until a giant purple fireball came his way. He thought about dodging it but then Sombra realized he stood in the direction of Ponyville and that fireball wouldn't stop until it hit something. Sombra quickly looked around for any other options, he could tank the hit but that might cause another host of problems and showing off wasn't an option either so the only other alternative would be deflecting it. Sombra got himself ready by putting some magic around his body, especially his hands and when the fireball made contact Sombra felt like the very first pieces of wood hitting a raging fireplace. The hot feeling didn't last long because the moment Sombra sent the fireball into the sky above his head the Ursa Major moved behind him and with the force and speed of a raging beast sent Sombra flying into the Everfree Forest with a loud crashing sound to complete the moment much to the complete shock of everyone there. Except Discord who fell backwards onto the ground belly laughing. Fluttershy had to stop herself from screaming Sombra's name and flying to him to see if he was okay. Right now, she had to stop the angry Ursa from hurting anyone else and she started by letting Twilight lock down the Ursa Major in a magical cage. Twilight struggled to hold the Ursa down which meant Fluttershy had to act quickly. She went inside the cage, onto the top of the Ursa's head, and using the magic Discord gave her she locked the Ursa down even further by putting a tighter cage around leaving the raging creature unable to move. All it could was roar which did scare Fluttershy but she held her ground. Without saying a word Fluttershy closed her eyes, placed her left hand on the Ursa's head, moved her right index finger in front of her lips, and started whispering something. Soon enough the raging Ursa Major became mellow and right after it went into a deep sleep. Good thing to because Twilight's cage disappeared. "Fluttershy you did it!" Twilight exclaimed obviously winded from holding her spell. She landed on the ground next to the sleeping Ursa and felt a little creeped out being this close to it. "This is new for me hehe…How did you do that by the way?" She posed Fluttershy. "Discord and Hot Flame gave me some one time use magic. I think the results speak for themselves don't you say?" Fluttershy hopped off the Ursa and heard clapping behind her. "Good job my dear friends! That fantastic show was simply amazing to witness!" Discord declared making Fluttershy and Twilight roll their eyes. "Now what will you do with this creature?" Discord queried, looking at Twilight along with Fluttershy. "What? Don't look at me? I didn't think I'd get far!" Twilight stated while going into thinking mode. "Let's see.. Sending it back into the Everfree Forest without taking care of the source of its anger is going to bite us in the flank later.. Do you either of y-" "It's son is dead.. It got wounded in a fight against some Timberwolves. I don't think it made it through the next few nights" Fluttershy said flatly. "Wait, Fluttershy you were-" "I was there along with Hot Flame when it happened. We managed to stop the fight from getting worse but well.. You saw what just happened." Twilight groaned in frustration "That's just great! Ughh.. Well I hate to say it but we might have to erase the memories of the child from the mother." Fluttershy went wide-eyed and Discord started laughing again. "Come on, Princess Twilight! You know you won't let yourself sleep peacefully at night if you do that. So what's plan B?" "I…Agree with Twilight. We can't kill it and sending it back home won't do anything. So--Discord can you do it?" Fluttershy asked with heavy regret in her voice. "Fluttershy are you-" "Yes, Twilight I'm sure. Discord, make sure it won't wake up for a while to. I don't want it charging back here immediately-- as weak as that sounds." Discord chuckled "Yes ma'am!" Discord snapped his fingers and a magic circle appeared under the sleeping Ursa. On top of doing what he was asked, Discord saved the girls some trouble and teleported the Ursa back into the Everfree Forest . "Okay now that's done what now?" "I need to go check on Hot. That hit he took might have been a little too much" Fluttershy pronounced calmly. "Oh my gosh! You're right! Come on we need to help him!" Twilight exclaimed getting ready to take off in the sky. Fluttershy stopped her immediately. "Twilight, you need to go back to Ponyville and make sure nothing happened there. Don't worry about my friend, he's a tank" Fluttershy spoke with a smile. "But, Fluttershy it's-" Fluttershy placed a finger on Twilight's lips and turned her around facing Ponyville. "Princess, Trust me okay?" "I! Okay fine. Just please be careful okay?" "Always!" Fluttershy replied with that same smile and a hug on top of that. "Discord you're with me and before you say anything I'll pay you later!" Twilight Said while taking off to Ponyville. Discord simply shrugged and followed Twilight to Ponyville leaving Fluttershy to look for Sombra. A few minutes later Fluttershy found Sombra without his mask against a knocked over tree. He looked uncharacteristically collected for someone who just took a hit that would piss off everybody Fluttershy knew. Fluttershy landed in front of him, took a knee, cupped his face with her hands, and gave him a warm smile. Sombra meant Fluttershy's eyes which quickly turned into a tight hug. "I'm glad you're okay. Are you hurt anywhere?" Fluttershy asked quietly. "You should know by now-- you do not have to worry about me" Sombra replied. Fluttershy hugged Sombra tighter "You know I'm not going to do that" "So how long were you planning on doing this hug for?" Sombra pointed out. "It's part of my apology for what you just went through. Honestly I thought you would be a lot more upset." "I didn't see the point in wasting my energy. Besides, I know how you're going to pay me back." For a moment Fluttershy stopped to think about what she just heard. Those words could go any number of ways and when she couldn't read Sombra's blank expression when she stopped the hug her mind obviously went dirty with a heavy blush. "I! Umm..!" "Wow, Sombra at least take Fluttershy out to dinner first hehe" Fluttershy and Sombra jumped at the sudden voice. They looked around to see who it was and saw Princess Celestia floating above them with a bright smile on her face. "Oohh, Please Princess Celestia, don't do that you nearly made my soul jump out of my body!" Fluttershy spoke getting herself together. Sombra on the other hand simply rolled his eyes and groaned. Celestia landed next to them "I apologize, Fluttershy I didn't mean to scare you." "It's fine, Princess. Why are you here though?" Fluttershy questioned. "I heard about that Ursa's Major situation and I figured I'd handle it myself. I'm not surprised to find that you and your friends already handled it. But I gotta say I didn't expect Sombra here to take that hit the way he did." "Wait-- you watched that entire thing?" The Princess nodded "Again, you made me feel proud about my decision to pick you, Fluttershy. Although I never expected you to end up In this position." Celestia let that word hang in the air until Fluttershy picked up what the Princess was putting down. Fluttershy immediately stood up embarrassed which made Chuckle at the reaction. "Relax, Fluttershy I'm only teasing" "That's all well and good, Celestia but, why are you here?!" Sombra interjected. Celestia looked at the watch that did not have "Because you're going to need medical attention in three, two, one-" As if fate demanded it happen, Sombra felt a massive amount of pain come to him. It felt like he just got hit by a bleeding effect stacking itself one-hundred times and the result-- Sombra losing sixty-five percent of his blood in an instant. Everything went dark. Several days later in Cantorlot Hospital at night "... Ughh.. Ah!.. My head--What happened!.." Sombra pushed himself up-right and opened his eyes to himself in a hospital bed. He looked to his right to find an open window with the night sky behind it. "So you're finally awake. That's good." Sombra looked to his left to find Princess Celestia sitting in a chair reading a book. She looked tired herself. "What happened to me?" Sombra asked. "That Ursa Major hit you with a bleeding curse. Congratulations on surviving that, most ponies don't live to tell the tale" Celestia responded. She closed the book and looked at Sombra "I took you here for obvious reasons. Now that you're awake I have to say you look jetlagged and by that I mean you look like shit." Sombra looked around at the rest of the room to find nothing special. "You could've just left me there you know" Sombra murmured. Celestia's ears perked up and she shook her head. "No. You know I couldn't. Besides, Fluttershy would never forgive me." Sombra sucked his teeth "You know she's helping me get my power back right?" "I've had my suspensions after the book situation. To be honest with you I'm not at all surprised that she's helping you. In fact I would've been worried if Fluttershy didn't." "And you don't care about the repercussions of her actions?" Celestia laid back into her chair and crossed her legs "Of course I have. The night before I made before me and Luna made the decision to give you another chance, the situation of you coming back for revenge after returning to full power kept coming back up. It still does when I look at you even now." "And you thought she would be my best shot in your eyes?" "I thought she might have been able to talk you out of revenge. Or even make you a close friend like Discord and I still believe she will." "Here I'm thinking you were playing some elaborate game. Turns out it's just pure hopeless hope not to see my end? You're still naive, Tia. You always were." Celestia tilted her head "Then why are you here in a hospital bed? You could've avoided the hit yet you didn't and that's the interesting part about this. Why did you do it, Sombra?" Celestia asked curiously. "Because I wanted to that's all" Sombra replied while laying back onto the bed. Celestia sadly sighed and stood up "I know you like her, Sombra. It's okay if you don't want to admit it to me. But please don't lay there and continue to lie to yourself." With those finals Celestia teleported out of the room leaving Sombra alone with his thoughts. "It's not a lie"
Chapter TenView OnlineSaving the kingChapter TenA few days later Sombra found himself still in the hospital after the attack. His strength already returned to him and in some ways he felt even better than normal. That didn't stop Celestia from telling him he needed to stay in the hospital until the necessary time. Sombra had very little choice but to obey the ruling unless he wanted to get on more thin ice. It didn't bother him too much, but even Sombra had to admit to himself under these conditions-- boredom kicked his butt up and down the street. At least when he had been in jail his rage and anger kept him from thinking about it, but now? He rather be fighting that Ursa Major and losing all together. Thankfully, before that thought process came to life Sombra heard the door open and locked afterwards. The footsteps coming his way sounded very familiar. "Sombra, are you awake?" Fluttershy asked curiously. "Yeah" Sombra replied. When Fluttershy saw Sombra she meant him with a caring smile. Before Sombra could say anything else Fluttershy hugged him tightly like she missed one of her favorite animals. Sombra let the hug happen in the peace and quiet until Fluttershy spoke again. "I'm glad to see you all well and good," Fluttershy stated softly. "You missed me didn't you?" Sombra replied with a cheeky tone. Fluttershy looked at him with her soft eyes and nodded. "I apologize for not being here the past few days. After you passed out I worked with Princess Celestia to find a way to speed up your recovery process. I say it worked out well because you look less angry than normal" Fluttershy said with a cheeky grin on her face. Sombra rolled his eyes "That's my normal expression, Child. You can't change that." "Who said I wanted to?" Fluttershy asked curiously. "The length of this hug" Sombra smartly responded, looking down at Fluttershy's arms. With a blush across her face Fluttershy let Sombra go and sat down next to him. "I hope things haven't been too boring for you. I know how boring things can get when you're recovering from pain like that." "It wasn't that bad at first. Until I realized I still have at least another few days in here before I walk out." "Actually, I spoke with the Princess about that. You can get out today as long as I'm with you." "I'm not surprised in the slightest," Sombra replied flatly. "Fine. If that's the case then let's go. I'm sick of lying in here." Fluttershy smiled "I made Doughnuts. Wanna eat them on the roof?" Sombra shrugged "Let's go" ***** A few minutes later Sombra and Fluttershy were eating Doughnuts and drinking coffee on the roof of the hospital. The clear sky, chill wind completed the setting especially with the busy city below them and the sun entering its high point. "Thanks by the way." Fluttershy suddenly stopped an incoming bite of a Doughnut to look at Sombra who looked forward. "Oh? No problem. Guess this means you own one right?" Fluttershy asked tilting her head with a grin on her face. She knew Sombra could see it out of the corner of his eye. "Let me guess, you want me to stop calling you 'Child' right?" Fluttershy happily nodded which made Sombra groan. "Fine! You win, C… Fluttershy. That's gonna take getting used to.." Fluttershy's jump for victory and joy brought some flash of regret for giving up that battle line. Although seeing Fluttershy as happy as she showed did bring some enjoyment. "Um, sorry about that," Fluttershy said with an embarrassed expression. Sombra shrugged and went back to sipping his coffee. "By the way I've been thinking about how to help with your magic problem." Sombra finished his coffee before speaking "Oh really? What dangerous idea do you have this time?" "We sneak into your old castle and find something there???" Fluttershy said. She wore her unconfidence on her face like she didn't think past the first stage of the plan. Sombra raised his eyebrow at Fluttershy then he got serious. "You know that's pure tension right?" Fluttershy slightly jumped when Sombra harshly said the word 'tension'. She knew the consequences of the act for anyone who did it anywhere. "Y-yeah, but I'm sure I've been doing it anyway under the blanket of my mission to help you. Besides, I believe you won't do anything after you get your magic back." The air between them got quiet for a bit. Fluttershy knew what words were coming next and she had to prepare herself for her reply. "What made you think I won't immediately betray you?" Sombra asked. He took some pleasure in the question because he knew it hurt Fluttershy to think about the possibility. Fluttershy stayed silent before answering his question. She really tried to find the right words for her answer. "In that moment, King Sombra, will you say our short time together has meant nothing to you? Am I not a friend in your eyes? Have I truly made no progress this time? Will I have to watch you die after all of this?" Fluttershy sadly asked with one tear coming out of her eye. Sombra stayed silent for a moment. Then in a surprise move Fluttershy didn't see coming, Sombra pulled her onto his lap and wiped away the tear. "You're a headache, you know that right? Did the draconequus have to go through this same problem with you?" Sombra questioned, slightly annoyed. "In a way, yes. Although, Discord and I's relationship wasn't this complicated." Sombra tilted his head at Fluttershy's words "And that means what exactly?" Fluttershy reached up grabbing Sombra's shirt and pulling him down into a quick kiss she desperately wanted to do since the beginning. Before Sombra could reply Fluttershy kissed him again. Then Fluttershy got greedy, she pushed Sombra to the floor and started a full makeout session. When the session ended Fluttershy laid on top of Sombra looking down into his red eyes with a single string connecting their lips. "I never been so conflicted about wanting something I'm not supposed to have" Fluttershy said clearly. She tried to roll off Sombra, but he pushed her down to his chest making her stay there. Sombra was as solid as a rock which made Fluttershy blush a heavy shade of red and Sombra wasn't helping with hand stroking her head. "W-what's this for?" Sombra didn't say anything and continued. It didn't take long for Fluttershy to fall asleep. Author's Note Sorry for the short chapter. I know this has been gone for a while, but I'm trying to get back into the swing of things.
