The Adventures of Grub

Grub nervously fidgeted in his seat, watching the tree pass by. Today was the day he got to meet the rest of his family and he was incredibly nervous. He even had to meet his aunts friends. One of them was throwing a party for him, which he felt like he didn’t deserve. His mind raced with thoughts.

”What if they don’t like me? What if I mess up and they kick me out? What if my older cousin bullies me?” His mind raced in a panic. His thoughts got cut off when he felt something warm touch his side. He turned around to see his little sister, Flurry Heart, reaching her hooves up. Grub picked her up and placed her on his lap. They stared at each other for a few moments.

“Do you think they’ll hate me?” Grub asked Flurry. She stared at him for a few moments before falling into his chest.

“You’re right, dad said that they’re nice so I should believe him.” He said with a smile. He look down at Flurry who had dozed off on his stomach. He looked back out the window. Mom was right about taking the train, it’s much more scenic.” He thought to himself. He felt his eyes starting to drift shut. He had stayed up late, not really used to his new room. He didn’t want to bother his parents so he stayed up until three in the morning. Soon he drifted off to sleep.

Grub awoke to someone softly nudging his side. He peeked one eye open to see Shining Armor holding Flurry in his arms.

“We’re here.” Shining Armor said with a soft smile. Grub let out a yawn and stretched, his wings fluttering a bit. Grub hopped off of the seat and followed his mother and father off of the train. He squinted when the sun hit his eyes. It immediately woke him up from his groggy state. He looked around to see that they were at a train station.

“This is Canterlot.” Cadance stated as she pointed to the city. Grub looked around in awe. There were dozens of unicorns walking down the street, all wearing fancy clothing. All of there heads were high in the air.

“Are they going somewhere fancy?” Grub asked. Cadance shook her head.

“Everyone in Canterlot dresses like this all the time.” She explained. Grub nodded his head in understanding. He looked up to see a very large castle in the distance. Shining Armor caught him staring.

“That’s going where we’re going.” Shining Armor said. Grub nodded his head. He looked at Flurry who was sitting in her stroller.

“Can I push the stroller?” Grub asked bashfully. Shining Armor smiled and lifted him off of the ground. Grub flew up to the handle of the stroller and started to push it. He smiled happily as he and his family walked towards the castle.

Grub stood there nervously, his legs shaking. He and his family stood in front of the door to the throne room. His stomach churned and he gulped nervously. His anxiety about meeting his family had come back.

“Don’t be scared, I promise that they’ll love you.” Cadance comforted while rubbing his back. Shining Armor opened the doors. Two tall alicorns stood there with smiles on there faces. Grub his behind his fathers leg in fear, making one of the alicorns giggle.

“Don’t be afraid little one, I won’t hurt you. I’m your aunt Celestia.” She said in a calming voice. He cowered out from behind his fathers leg and gave a small wave.

“I’m Grub, it’s nice to meet you.” He greeted in a soft voice. The blue alicorn smiled.

“I am your aunt Luna, it is so nice to meet you.” Luna said with a smile. Grub smiled a little wider.

“It’s nice to meet you too!” He greeted, a little louder than before. Celestia looked at Shining Armor and Cadance.

“Twilight and her friends are in the event hall, we’ll meet you there soon.” She stated. Shining Armor looked at Grub.

“Let’s go meet your aunt Twilight, you’ll love her.” Shining Armor stated. Grub smiled widely. If she was anything like his other aunts, he would love her.

Grub, Shining Armor, Cadance, and Flurry Heart entered a room that was decorated in party supplies. A pink blue zipped around the room, putting up more decorations.

“Cadance!” A voice exclaimed. Grub turned around to see a purple alicorn who was shorter that his mom. Cadance smiled and trotted over to her.

“Sunshine sunshine ladybugs awake, clap your hooves and do a little shake!” They chanted with a little dance. Grub gave a confused look. The purple alicorn turned to him with a smile on his face.

“You must be Grub, it’s so nice to meet you. I’m your aunt Twily.” She said sweetly. Grub waved happily.

“Spike, stop eating the gems!” A voice exclaimed from the other side of the room. Grub looked to see a white unicorn with a purple mane glaring at a purple dragon with green scales. Spike held a blue gem in his hand which was half eaten. There were blue gems on the table which he assumed was for decoration. A pegasus with a rainbow mane picked up a cupcake and ate it. The white mare turned around and let out an over dramatic gasp.

“Stop eating the snacks!” She exclaimed angrily. Twilight touched Grubs back and pointed to the white unicorn.

“That’s Rarity, she really likes fashion.” Twilight explained. She pointed to the dragon. “That’s Spike, he’s your older cousin.” She pointed to the pony with the rainbow mane. “That’s Rainbow Dash, she’s a Wonderbolt.” Twilight stated. Grub let out a soft gasp.

“Woah really?!” He exclaimed in excitement. Twilight giggled and nodded her head. She pointed to a yellow pegasus who was petting a rabbit.

“That’s Fluttershy, she loves animals.” Twilight pointed to a orange earth pony who was eating an apple. “That’s Applejack, she’s an apple farmer.” Finally, Twilight pointed to a pink mare who hung up one more streamer before wiping the sweat off of her brow. “That’s Pinkie Pie, she’s a party planner and she made this whole party just for you.” Twilight explained. Grub walked away from Twilight and approached Pinkie Pie.

“Thank you for setting up this party for me, I really appreciate it.” Grub said bashfully. Pinkie Pie smiled happily and placed a plastic crown on his head.

“You’re the king of this party and you can do what you want!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed. Grub let out a gasp of excitement, his tail wagging a bit. Today was going to be fun.

Grub unwrapped a large book. It was all of the Power Pony comics wrapped into one big book. He let out a loud gasp and hugged Spike.

“Thank you so much I love it!” He exclaimed. Spike chuckled and hugged him backs. That was his last present. He had gotten a blanket from Applejack, a stuffed bunny from Fluttershy, a wonderbolts poster from Rainbow Dash, a book on magic from Twilight, a suit from Rarity, a toy robot from Pinkie Pie, and more toys from his grandparents who couldn’t it make it due to work. Grub had never gotten this many presents in his life. Shining Armor looked out the window to see that the sun was setting.

“We have to get going.” Shining Armor commented. Grub turned to his father and pouted.

“Do we have to go?” He asked with a whine. Shining Armor chuckled and nodded his head.

“Yes we do. You need sleep because tomorrow you’re going to school.” Shining Armor explained. Grubs pout turned into a grin, making Shining Armor chuckle. He picked Grun up and placed him on his back.

“Bye everyone, thanks for this great party.” Shining Armor said as he placed Flurry in her stroller.

“Bye Aunt Twily, I’m going to miss you.” Grub said as they walked out the door. Twilight smiled. He was such a sweet kid.
