Today was the day he got to meet the rest of his family and he was incredibly nervous. He even had to meet his aunts friends. One of them was throwing a party for him, which he felt like he didn’t deserve. His mind raced with thoughts. ”What if they don’t like me? What if I mess up and they kick me out? What if my older cousin bullies me?” His mind raced in a panic. His thoughts got cut off when he felt something warm touch his side. He turned around to see his little sister, Flurry Heart, reaching her hooves up. Grub picked her up and placed her on his lap. They stared at each other for a few moments. “Do you think they’ll hate me?” Grub asked Flurry. She stared at him for a few moments before falling into his chest. “You’re right, dad said that they’re nice so I should believe him.” He said with a smile. He look down at Flurry who had dozed off on his stomach. He looked back out the window. Mom was right about taking the train, it’s much more scenic.” He thought to himself. He felt his eyes starting to drift shut. He had stayed up late, not really used to his new room. He didn’t want to bother his parents so he stayed up until three in the morning. Soon he drifted off to sleep. Grub awoke to someone softly nudging his side. He peeked one eye open to see Shining Armor holding Flurry in his arms. “We’re here.” Shining Armor said with a soft smile. Grub let out a yawn and stretched, his wings fluttering a bit. Grub hopped off of the seat and followed his mother and father off of the train. He squinted when the sun hit his eyes. It immediately woke him up from his groggy state. He looked around to see that they were at a train station. “This is Canterlot.” Cadance stated as she pointed to the city. Grub looked around in awe. There were dozens of unicorns walking down the street, all wearing fancy clothing. All of there heads were high in the air. “Are they going somewhere fancy?” Grub asked. Cadance shook her head. “Everyone in Canterlot dresses like this all the time.” She explained. Grub nodded his head in understanding. He looked up to see a very large castle in the distance. Shining Armor caught him staring. “That’s going where we’re going.” Shining Armor said. Grub nodded his head. He looked at Flurry who was sitting in her stroller. “Can I push the stroller?” Grub asked bashfully. Shining Armor smiled and lifted him off of the ground. Grub flew up to the handle of the stroller and started to push it. He smiled happily as he and his family walked towards the castle. Grub stood there nervously, his legs shaking. He and his family stood in front of the door to the throne room. His stomach churned and he gulped nervously. His anxiety about meeting his family had come back. “Don’t be scared, I promise that they’ll love you.” Cadance comforted while rubbing his back. Shining Armor opened the doors. Two tall alicorns stood there with smiles on there faces. Grub his behind his fathers leg in fear, making one of the alicorns giggle. “Don’t be afraid little one, I won’t hurt you. I’m your aunt Celestia.” She said in a calming voice. He cowered out from behind his fathers leg and gave a small wave. “I’m Grub, it’s nice to meet you.” He greeted in a soft voice. The blue alicorn smiled. “I am your aunt Luna, it is so nice to meet you.” Luna said with a smile. Grub smiled a little wider. “It’s nice to meet you too!” He greeted, a little louder than before. Celestia looked at Shining Armor and Cadance. “Twilight and her friends are in the event hall, we’ll meet you there soon.” She stated. Shining Armor looked at Grub. “Let’s go meet your aunt Twilight, you’ll love her.” Shining Armor stated. Grub smiled widely. If she was anything like his other aunts, he would love her. Grub, Shining Armor, Cadance, and Flurry Heart entered a room that was decorated in party supplies. A pink blue zipped around the room, putting up more decorations. “Cadance!” A voice exclaimed. Grub turned around to see a purple alicorn who was shorter that his mom. Cadance smiled and trotted over to her. “Sunshine sunshine ladybugs awake, clap your hooves and do a little shake!” They chanted with a little dance. Grub gave a confused look. The purple alicorn turned to him with a smile on his face. “You must be Grub, it’s so nice to meet you. I’m your aunt Twily.” She said sweetly. Grub waved happily. “Spike, stop eating the gems!” A voice exclaimed from the other side of the room. Grub looked to see a white unicorn with a purple mane glaring at a purple dragon with green scales. Spike held a blue gem in his hand which was half eaten. There were blue gems on the table which he assumed was for decoration. A pegasus with a rainbow mane picked up a cupcake and ate it. The white mare turned around and let out an over dramatic gasp. “Stop eating the snacks!” She exclaimed angrily. Twilight touched Grubs back and pointed to the white unicorn. “That’s Rarity, she really likes fashion.” Twilight explained. She pointed to the dragon. “That’s Spike, he’s your older cousin.” She pointed to the pony with the rainbow mane. “That’s Rainbow Dash, she’s a Wonderbolt.” Twilight stated. Grub let out a soft gasp. “Woah really?!” He exclaimed in excitement. Twilight giggled and nodded her head. She pointed to a yellow pegasus who was petting a rabbit. “That’s Fluttershy, she loves animals.” Twilight pointed to a orange earth pony who was eating an apple. “That’s Applejack, she’s an apple farmer.” Finally, Twilight pointed to a pink mare who hung up one more streamer before wiping the sweat off of her brow. “That’s Pinkie Pie, she’s a party planner and she made this whole party just for you.” Twilight explained. Grub walked away from Twilight and approached Pinkie Pie. “Thank you for setting up this party for me, I really appreciate it.” Grub said bashfully. Pinkie Pie smiled happily and placed a plastic crown on his head. “You’re the king of this party and you can do what you want!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed. Grub let out a gasp of excitement, his tail wagging a bit. Today was going to be fun. Grub unwrapped a large book. It was all of the Power Pony comics wrapped into one big book. He let out a loud gasp and hugged Spike. “Thank you so much I love it!” He exclaimed. Spike chuckled and hugged him backs. That was his last present. He had gotten a blanket from Applejack, a stuffed bunny from Fluttershy, a wonderbolts poster from Rainbow Dash, a book on magic from Twilight, a suit from Rarity, a toy robot from Pinkie Pie, and more toys from his grandparents who couldn’t it make it due to work. Grub had never gotten this many presents in his life. Shining Armor looked out the window to see that the sun was setting. “We have to get going.” Shining Armor commented. Grub turned to his father and pouted. “Do we have to go?” He asked with a whine. Shining Armor chuckled and nodded his head. “Yes we do. You need sleep because tomorrow you’re going to school.” Shining Armor explained. Grubs pout turned into a grin, making Shining Armor chuckle. He picked Grun up and placed him on his back. “Bye everyone, thanks for this great party.” Shining Armor said as he placed Flurry in her stroller. “Bye Aunt Twily, I’m going to miss you.” Grub said as they walked out the door. Twilight smiled. He was such a sweet kid. //-------------------------------------------------------// A New Friend //-------------------------------------------------------// A New Friend Grub awoke, stretching and letting out a yawn. He hopped out of bed and practically ran to the bathroom. He entered the bathroom and closed the door behind him. He turned on the shower and hopped in, splashing in the water a bit. He wasn’t really used to the shower because it took him a while to get to the Crystal Empire. He was used waterfalls and lakes to bathe in but a shower was much better. Because of this, he didn’t really mind the cold water on his skin. It actually felt rather nice. He grabbed his bubble gum soap and lathered it on his body. “Scrub scrub in the tub!” Grub sang loudly to himself. He rinsed the water off of his body before turning off the shower and shaking it all off. He levitated a green towel and quickly dried himself off. Grub hopped out of the shower and flew over to the sink. He grabbed his toothbrush and slathered blueberry flavored toothpaste onto it. He quickly brushed his teeth with a large grin on his face. He filled his mouth with water before spitting it out in the sink. Grub ran out of the bathroom and into the hallway, smiling happily. He slid into the kitchen happily with a large grin on his face. “It looks like somebody is excited.” Shining Armor commented. Grub happily sat down at the breakfast table, his tail wagging a bit. His father handed him a bowl of cereal with a spoon. He nodded his head as he put cereal in his mouth. “I’ve never been to school before and I’m super excited!” Grub exclaimed before quickly eating his food. “Slow down sweetheart, you can choke.” Cadance stared as she fed Flurry Heart a spoonful of baby food. Grub slowed down and kicked his hooves a bit. He finished very quickly and drank his orange juice. “Are you ready?” Shining Armor asked. Grub nodded his head and hopped off of his seat. He picked up a small red saddle bag with Power Pony pins and placed it on his back. Cadance walked over to Grub and kissed him on the head. “Have a good day at school.” She said sweetly. He grinned. “Thanks Mom, see you later!” Grub exclaimed before he followed Shining Armor down the hallway. He hopped happily, making his father chuckle. “School is going to be so much fun!” Grub exclaimed, flapping his wings a bit. “Remember, you can’t misbehave in class.” Shining Armor reminded. Grub nodded his head. “I know Dad, you told me that.” Grub stated. Shining Armor let out a sigh as he walked out of the front door to the castle. “I just want to make sure that you don’t get in trouble at school.” Shining Armor explained. Grub skipped next to his father, not paying attention to a word that he was saying. Today was going to be so exciting. Shining Armor and Grub stood in front of a large crystal school. Grubs stomach dropped at the sight of it. He suddenly felt very nervous. “Dad this was a bad idea, let’s go home.” He said while tugging his fathers tail. Shining Armor levitated his son in front of him. “Everything is going to be fine, I promise. Today’s the first day of school for everyone too, so they’re all nervous.” Shining Armor reassured. Grub gulped in nervousness and looked back at the school. “Do you want me to come inside with you?” Shining Armor asked. Grub nodded his shook his head. “No I can go in by myself.” Grub said, trying to be brave. Shining Armor smiled. “Your Mom will pick you up after school.” Shining Armor stated. Grub nodded his head and hugged his father tightly. “See you later Dad.” Grub said before flying inside of the school. Shining Armor smiled as he walked away. “Woah...” Grub marveled as he looked around the school. The floors were tiled and pale yellow while the walls were dark purple. Ponies of all ages walked around, making him feel confused. Where was he supposed to go? “All kindergarteners please go to the cafeteria.” A male voice boomed from the loud speaker. “That was easy.” Grub muttered to himself. He walked around for a bit until he stumbled upon the cafeteria. Ponies his age sat at the tables, talking to each other. There weren’t that many ponies there. Grub sat at an empty table, too afraid to sit with anyone else. He reached into his saddle bag and pulled out a notepad and pencil. He started to doodle a picture of his sister. He hummed to himself as he drew Flurry Heart happily laughing. “Hello everypony, welcome to your first day of kindergarten.” A sweet female voice spoke out, making Grub look up. There was a light blue pegasus mare with red hair standing in front of the cafeteria, holding a microphone. Her cutie mark was a large red book with a Moon on it. “My name is Mrs. Crescent and I will be your teacher for the rest of the year. Get in two lines and I’ll take you up to your classroom.” She commanded. Grub put his saddle bag on his back and entered the line that had already been formed. He gulped nervously as the line started to move. He wasn’t ready for this. Grub stood in his classroom. The walls were a pretty yellow color and there were five long tables in the class. All of the tables at three chairs on each end. “You can choose your own seats.” Mrs. Crescent stated as she walked over to the chalk board. Grub looked around before quickly choosing a window seat in the back of the room. It was the best place to not get attention drawn to him. A brownish red unicorn filly sat next to him. She looked very excited to be there. Her mane was dark red and very poofy with small white marks in it. Her eyes were a light green. “You may talk to the person sitting next to you for the next ten minutes.” Mrs. Crescent stated. Everyone started to talk to each other, making Grub nervous. “Hi I’m Cinnamon Swirl, what’s your name?” The filly next to him asked with a grin. ”My name is Grub.” He mumbled under his breath. Cinnamon Swirl looked at the buttons on his bag. “You like Power Ponies too?!” She exclaimed in shock. Grub gave her a look of surprise and nodded his head. He reached into his bag and pulled out a special edition comic. “I got this a few days ago, do you wanna read it with me?” Grub asked. Cinnamon Swirl let out a gasp and eagerly nodded her head. Grub opened the comic and placed it between them as they both started to read. Grub ran out of the school and up to Cadence excitedly. He had a large grin on his face. “How was your first day of school?” Cadence asked. Grub looked at her with stars in his eyes. “It was great! I made a new friend, her name is Cinnamon Swirl and she likes Power Ponies too!” Grub exclaimed happily. Cadence smiled. “I’m glad you had fun.” She said as she kissed Grub on the head. “Can Cinnamon come over for a play date soon?” Grub asked. Cadence chuckled. “Of course she can.” She said with a smile. Grub grinned. Today was a good day.
