The Debaucherous Week of a Canterlot Apple Farmer
Prologue - Sunday
Load Full StoryNext ChapterPeople didn’t give Applejack enough credit when it came to her ability to plan. They usually assumed she was laid back, going by some deep instinctual clockwork that got all her daily chores done, and falling into the flow of more capable planners like Twilight or Rarity when it came to anything more complex than feeding chickens and picking apples.
This couldn’t be farther from the truth. She had been keeping a planner in her back pocket since she was a preteen and had learned the art of balancing a busy schedule early in life. After all, when you needed to handle school, farm work, and a pretty thriving social life you were bound to get pretty good at it.
However, this week was proving to be a doozy, with her desperately scanning this week’s schedule for any place to trim a couple hours from her already packed agenda.
A low whistle interrupted her.
“Looks like you got a busy week,” Big Mac commented, peering over her shoulder.
Applejack chuckled. “Yeah you could say that.”
“Need any help?”
“I wouldn’t mind having someone to bounce ideas off of.”
Big Mac nodded and pulled out a chair, plopping himself down across from her.
“So, what’s up?” he asked.
“Well each of the girls wants to see me this week.”
“Privately, or as a group?”
Applejack felt her face warm. “Privately…mostly.”
Big Mac held up a defensive hand. “I ain’t here to judge the intricacies of your personal life, sis. Just trying to get a frame of mind for what we’re up against. So, who are you planning to see first?”
“Well, Twilight and Sunset are free tomorrow so I was thinking of having them over for the day.”
Big Mac smirked. “Should I make an effort to avoid the west field tomorrow?”
Applejack chuckled. “If ya wouldn’t mind.”
“Not at all. I owe you one.”
“We each owe each other plenty, so don’t sweat it.”’
Applejack scribbled away in her book, circling her Monday arrangement.
“So, what’s going on Tuesday?” Big Mac asked.
“Well here’s the problem. I really want to spend some time with Pinkie, since they’ve got Tuesdays and Thursdays mostly free, but…”
“But?”
“I promised Applebloom that I’d take her and her friends to the mall.”
“No way you could pawn them off on Rarity or Rainbow?”
“I mean I could, but…I promised.”
“Applejack, I understand, but doesn’t Rarity owe you one?”
“She does…but what if she’s busy?”
“Then we can figure out a plan B, heck I could take them if need be.”
“You sure?”
“Of course.”
Applejack crossed out the mall trip from her book, and wrote a note to phone Rarity. She then checked off her date with Pinkie, which was somehow surrounded by pink hearts she didn’t quite remember putting there.
“Wednesday?” Big Mac asked.
“Well Rainbow has a lecture in the morning but I was thinking of hanging out with her afterwards.”
“At her place?”
“Maybe, why?”
Big Mac chuckled. “It’s just…usually your hang outs need a bit more open space is all.”
Applejack groaned, burying her face into her hands. “How do you know about that?”
“Because even though I am a very accepting big brother, you have a nasty habit of not warning me when you’re planning to do something freaky. So, I accidently walk past the memory pond, minding my own business, when I caught you two doing…” He rolled his wrist. “Stuff.”
“Do you mind…”
“Not visiting the memory pond on Wednesday?”
“Yep…”
“You got it. I have a date anyways.”
“Wait, really?”
He nodded.
“Things going steady between you three?” Applejack asked.
“It’s getting pretty serious, and Thunderlane seems to like her.”
“I’m so happy for you! When do I finally get to meet her?”
He chuckled. “We’ll see how things go after our third date.”
“Fair enough.”
She tapped her Thursday plans with the tip of her pen. “Now Thursday’s the tough one. Rarity wants to see me.”
“Only Rarity would think it’d be a good idea to bug you on a Thursday. Doesn’t she know that you’re going to be busy with the farmer’s market.”
“I told her.”
“And what did she say.”
“That I could come by afterwards.”
Big Mac snorted. “You’d think she’d have a better idea of how long it takes to disassemble, transport, and unload a booth’s worth of goods.”
Applejack shook her head. “Clothing’s a different ball game. It doesn’t take her nearly as long to close shop.”
He sighed. “We’ll bring Applebloom around and see if she can help me out.”
“Mac…I ain’t abandoning you for a booty call.”
“Applejack, you work harder than anyone else in this family. You deserve to have a cushy week”
“No way, you work just as hard.”
“Then you can make up for it by doing my chores, Sunday.”
She nodded. “Sounds good.”
With that, she circled her plans with Rarity.
“Friday’s clear, so I’m spending that with Fluttershy,” she said.
Big Mac whistled. “You got one hell of a busy week.”
“We ain’t even at Saturday yet.”
“What’s Saturday?”
She chuckled. “I’m uh…meeting someone new. A friend of Twi’s.”
“Which Twilight?”
“The one from these parts.”
“Anything you’d like to tell me about them?”
“I would if I could, but it’s a bit of a blind date.”
“Well I hope ya have a good time.”
Applejack starred at the initials, TS, in her planner.
“Me too.”
