In this timeline, magic and technology were rivals constantly bickering. Eventually, at Twilight's school, there was a student who loved poking into the lives of others, and trying to involve himself in incidents, writing the school paper. Twilight had an experiment, and requested volunteers from the civilian population. Only the writer signed up for it, using technology that could speak through time, and possibly through space. There was only one way to tell.

I've had a previous story but deleted it as I felt it was too crummy of a story. For this, to help with the idea, think of Quantum Leap, but more broad strokes. Perhaps some seal teal to accent the eyes.
