His horse was black with a white face, and a large white spot on his ass. The man rode bareback and wore a dark green woolen tunic, brown cotton pants, and brown leather boots. His young face was soaked with sweat and his short brown hair was matted down. He rode hard and through the partly opened gates on the eastern side and turned down the main street heading south passing first, the poor stone brick houses of the Poor District, and then the extravagant manors of the Wealthy Districts and to the tall stone steps to the keeps. He dropped off of his horse and ran up the steps being stopped by two guards dawning blue woolen cloaks draped over chain mail, with a layer of gambeson under it, and a layer of leather beneath that. The helmets were steel with nose guards and guards on the back that flared out at the bottom of the neck and went around to the ears and had leather lining the interior, the gauntlets were also steel with leather for palms and underneath the steel, Their shoulder plates and knee plates were steel designed to bend with the movement and the boots were leather with flexible steel sabatons. In their hands were long steel headed oak spears, and wooden kite shields with a wolf head and crossed swords painted on them. At their right sides were steel long swords with black leather-wrapped hilts and a wolf's head carved into the guard, and at the left were wheel locks with rings latched to small hooks with opening breaches on the top. They stopped the man and said. “Halt, you are not allowed into the keep unless you are on important business” “But sir there’s been an attack at Nelcreed, near the border” exclaimed the man in a Nilnish (Slavic) accent panicked and out of breath. The soldier on the right’s eyes widened and he took out his large steel key and unlocked the large wooden doors into the keep, the doors groaning loudly. The man ran down the long hallway, the floors were dark oak planks and the walls were a smooth stone brick with lit sconces, suits of armor, and paintings lining them. He reached the end of the hallway where two guards opened the door to the Kings' chamber. The man ran through the large room with its walls and floor lined with hickory. In the center was a beautiful red carpet, to the sides of the two simple wooden thrones were steel candle holders with six holding pieces that sat empty, to the western side of the room was a large wooden clock with golden numbers and exquisite carvings. between both thrones was a small wooden table with a metal mug sitting in the center. on either side of the room were large windows letting in light into the room. On either side of the thrones were wooden doors leading to the royal chambers. He kneeled in front of the thrones and said: “Your Highness, there is a great danger at the border” The two people sitting there were almost opposites the one to the right was King Rignar the Second, a tall broad man with long black hair going down just past his shoulder, a black beard hanging off of his face, his face was aged and worn with a large scar visible on his cheek. He wore a black nobleman shirt, a red overcoat, a cloak made of a large bears pelt, black cotton pants, black leather boots, and a bronze crown sitting on top of his head in the shape of a large ring with a red ruby in the center. Next to him was his wife Taleeria the Huntress a Woodelf that appeared to be younger than Rignar but was actually older. she had brown skin with long pointed ears, ruby red hair that draped past her shoulders with a flower crown on top of her head, her dress was light green and went down past her feet to where it drug behind her as she walked. Rignar stood and asked in his deep booming voice “What is the problem?” The man looked up and said “It is Nilcreed, the Equins sacked the village and killed almost everyone, burning it down” Rignars eyes widened before handing the man a small sack of coins and saying “Go down to the tavern and get your self a drink” “Thank you, Your Highness,” said the man before he left the room. “Commander Wolfgar!” yelled Rignar A man in black steel plate armor with elegant gold engravings, a short black beard, and long black hair with a standard issue long sword at his side entered and said “Yes sir” “Assemble some soldiers, we must go to Nilcreed, NOW” exclaimed Rignar as he walked to his personal armory located in the royal chambers. They reached Nilcreed, or what was left of it, Rignar still wore his normal clothing but had a single-edged elegantly engraves long sword, with a guard that curved up on the bladed side, a black leather hilt, and a golden pommel. Wolfgar had was to the left of rignar, and there was a priest in simple black robes to his right with sixteen soldiers marching behind them all in the same armor armed with, kite shields, pistols, long swords, and spears. RIgnar and Wolfgar climbed down from their horses and walked down the dirt path through the center of the smoldering piles of charred wood and ashes that were once a medium-sized village of traders, farmers, and many others. They stopped when they reached a group of five people, two men, one woman, and two children a boy and girl. They were standing over a pile of fifteen bodies, most of them burned black. Rignar turned around to see the priest, an old man with a long white beard approaching, the priest cut through the line of people and began to place a bundle of reeds soaked in wolf blood in front of the corpses before chanting. Rignar and Wolfgar walked back to the horses. “You three take them to the fort to the northeast, and then go to the Jarls palace,” said Rignar to a group of fairly young soldiers on horseback. They rode their horses over the group as Rignar and Wolfgar climbed back on their horses. “The sun has nearly set, we must return to Fallreach” exclaimed Wolfgar before they quickly rode back the way they came. Rignar sat a small desk with a quill in his hand, lit by the dim glow of candlelight. He placed the quill in a small white glass jar of ink he then folded the piece of parchment he’d written on, stamping it shut. upon doing so he grabbed the candle by a ring on its holder and walked through the keep and out to the front steps where a soldier with a red cloak stood. “Take this to Canterlot at once,” said Rignar handing him the folded parchment. The courier ran down the steps and climbed on a horse riding it out of the city and onward to Equestria. //-------------------------------------------------------// A Brutal Massacre //-------------------------------------------------------// A Brutal Massacre Derisk 24th 145 VE Canterlot Equestria It was a cool morning in the land of Equestria, the rising sun lit the sky up with a beautiful orange glow that filled the castle in Canterlot with light. As the night guard is replaced with the morning guard, their golden armor glistening in the sun. Queen Twilight walked into her throne room wearing a violet gown with her long violet hair tied behind her head. She sat on her exquisitely decorated throne. “Good morning everyone,” said Twilight Her guards bowed their heads to her acknowledging her greeting, upon doing so one of the guards came up and said “It is time for you to greet the citizens of Canterlot, you must get prepared,” “Oh my, I almost forgot” as she said this she got up from her throne and began to the door to the left of her throne But before she could, a man burst into the throne room, wearing a red cloak, and black metal helmet. He kneeled before her and held out the parchment, as she took the parchment from his hand he turned and ran out of the room. When she opened it up and read it, her eyes flared with fury as she ripped it up throwing the small pieces onto the floor, them drifting slowly downward. She continued to her private chamber and muttered to herself: “If he wants war then he’s getting it” It was a day later when a red carriage entered Canterlot and stopped at the foot of the large exquisitely beautiful white castle. Out stepped three people, a woman with long straight pink hair that draped past her shoulder, she wore a long bright green and white dress that was just above her green shoes. She was followed by a smiling woman with curly pink hair wearing a bright pink dress that drug behind her. And she was followed by a blonde-haired soldier, clad in bronze plate armor with a short-bladed sword in a leather scabbard at her left hip, a large round bronze shield in her right, and a long bronze-tipped spear in her left. They all climbed the long stone staircase to the castle and entered through the massive doors. They walked behind the throne room and into a large room with a round table that was built as a raised map that showed all the surrounding lands. in the room was Queen Twilight, her wife Rarity, a young woman with dark blue hair in a long light blue dress. Guarding them both was Rainbow Dash, a soldier with long rainbow-colored hair and wearing bronze plate armor, carrying a large round bronze shield in her left hand that was held next to her short sword, and a long bronze-tipped spear in her right hand. After they all sat down Twilight began “Now as you all know, we’ve had multiple issues with Niln and due to our recent skirmish or as their calling it ‘attack’ they decided to declare war on us” The woman with long pink hair whose name was Fluttershy’s face turned to one of worry and she said “B-but what if they’re far more powerful, I mean we’ve never fought a war with them before” “But we do know that Niln is sparsely populated, while there are over 100 villages and 12 cities from what we’ve observed there would still be very little in the ways of the population to form a giant army,” said Rarity “Commander Applejack, you will lead our infantry and Commander Rainbow Dash, you will lead our cavalry, and both of you shall train them” Both Rainbow Dash and Applejack, the woman with blonde hair saluted her before leaving the chamber. Twilight looked over to Fluttershy and said “You will train people to treat the wounds of soldiers” “Y-yes ma’am” responded Fluttershy before walking out of the room “Now Pinkie,” said Twilight to the girl with curly pink hair who had sat quietly “You’re gonna entertain injured soldiers, you know make them laugh” “Yes ma’am” exclaimed Pinkie gleefully as she hopped from her chair and left the chamber Miles away, just across the border of Niln, a large army of soldiers stands before a man in black and gold robes holding up a large stone figure of a long-haired man with a curved greatsword on his back and a spear in his right hand. This figure was being held in the right hand of the priest, and in his left hand was a deer skull painted decoratively in red and yellow placed on top of a spear. The priest looked up to the sky and spoke in an aged hoarse voice "Oh great Morrinok, God of War and Honor, please grant these warriors your blessing as they march into battle, let their blades be sharp and their battle cries fierce," As he said this the soldiers began marching forward and the sound of deep horns filled the air as the Grand March on Canterlot. It wasn't long before Rainbow Dash spotted the army of men in blue armor marching in a line that appeared to be fifteen men across, it appeared almost all were carrying spears and shields. "MEN" yelled Rainbow Dash "GET READY" As she yelled the soldiers locked their round shields together and pointed their spears forward. The men stopped about thirty feet away from the Equin Soldiers, and Rainbow Dash stepped out from the line of soldiers and walked to the center of the field between the soldiers. As she did so, a large Northerner stepped from the line of Nilinish Soldiers, his hair was long and black, he had a short black beard, his face was worn and he had a large scar going from his forehead, crossing his left eye, and going down to his cheek. He wore the same armor as the Nilnish Soldiers but had a long cape draped behind him and a gold serpent emblem on his helmet, instead of a blue kite shield, he carried a kite shield that was half black and half dark green and didn't have a spear, only a long sword. He put his shield on his back, removed his helmet, and kneeled leaning on his helmet. Before Rainbow Dash could do anything he spoke in a rough voice "Oh great military general, I wish to grant you my respect before we do battle" With this, he rose and placed his helmet back on his head before rejoining the ranks of soldiers behind him. Rainbow Dash joined the ranks of her men and a loud war cry was let out by the many Nilnish Soldiers as they began to charge forward their spears and swords drawn. She locked her shield with the rest and held out her spear, the sound it made when the Nilnish Soldiers collided with the Equin Phalanx could be heard for miles around. The sound of swords and spears striking the shields, spears being reached over the shields and stabbing the Equin soldiers, and the spears being broken off. The Nilnish Soldiers also suffered losses, the long spears of the Equin Soldiers being forced through their armor and into the chests, blood gushing through the wounds of all soldiers stained the ground a crimson red. The Nilnish soldiers backed off and form a phalanx with their spears and it was at this moment that Rainbow Dash realized that not only were very few of the soldiers actually in the charge but they weren't all carrying spears, but many were carrying guns. They were long-barreled wheellock muskets with dark oak stocks and black steel barrels that extended past the soldiers' heads, they wore the same armor as the infantry only it was a dark green rather than blue. "CHAAAAARRRRGGGEEEE" screamed Rainbow Dash as the Phalanx broke and the soldiers ran. Before they could make it to the phalanx of Northerners, a series of loud cracks went over the yelling Equins as several collapsed to the ground with holes having appeared in their bodies and smoke filled the air, the soldiers had fired their guns. Yet even as the first barrage lowered their guns to reload and the second barrage was readied she still charged forward, even as the loud crack of guns rang out again she still ran. Until she felt a searing hot pain and her leg seemingly collapsed under her weight and she fell forward onto the ground. Not long after she did the Phalanx broke into a charge and the bloodbath of a battle got even worse as she saw Equin soldiers get slashed, stabbed, and dismembered. She clasped her shattered leg as tears streamed down her dirty face, as she did she heard a scream from behind her and turned to see a Nilnish Soldier charging at her wielding a blood-stained sword and a scratched up shield. The sword plunged through her chest and into her heart, the last thing she saw before her vision went dark was the menacing grin on the face of the Nilnish Commander that had been carrying the green and black shield. She fell backward on the ground dead, blood still gushing from the wound in her chest. And this marked a victory for Niln and barely any of their soldiers were lost, it wasn't a large battle by any means it didn't even use a quarter of Niln's forces in the march but it was still a major victory for them. Author's Note And with that, we conclude our second chapter, it's possible that they may make peace in the third chapter but I doubt it seriously //-------------------------------------------------------// Talks of Peace //-------------------------------------------------------// Talks of Peace Chapter 3 Derisk 27th, 145 VE Canterlot Equestria It was midday in Equestria and the large clocktower at the center of Canterlot chimed loudly as the citizens milled about with their trades, selling things in the market, foods, produce, even tools. Mothers watched over their children as they played and students were being taught at the college located in Canterlot Castle by the great scholars there. But outside the city's walls, it was the opposite. Outside were the soldiers of the recent battle, very few were uninjured and those who weren't stood on guard. Twilight walked out of the city through a passageway meant to move her from the city without anyone's knowledge. She wore a long purple dress with no decorations purple moccasins. She saw the large encampment that the soldiers had set up. It was horrific, tents dotted the area and the moans and cries of wounded soldiers could be heard across the camp as Twilight stood there. "We need to go into the camp," said a black-haired soldier who had his helmet removed. They continued into the camp seeing even closer the horrific sight, seeing soldiers missing limbs, some with wounds all over their bodies, some were even blinded, and many of them had gone insane from trauma, mumbling to themselves in fetal positions on their cots. Some of the cots had up to three soldiers in them, the rest lying on the ground. But it got even worse when they reached the center, instead of wounded soldiers it was the corpses of soldier resting on the cots covered with blood-stained sheets. "Many of their missing limbs were amputated, gunshots that shattered their bones," said the soldier next to her Twilight was lead past them to one that was outside of a tent with a familiar bronze helmet with a crest made of blue fur on top. A man walked out of the tent, he was red with black hair, wore round glasses and a leather apron holding several surgical tools. "Queen Twilight, I am delighted to see you," said the man not showing any glee on his aged face He walked over to the cot and removed the sheet revealing Rainbow Dash still in her bronze plate armor that had a noticeable hole in the chest plate. Her face was pale and still had the look of fear she had when she died. A tear left Twilights eye and she said: "Cover it up" She began to sob silently as the man placed the sheet back on Rainbow Dash's corpse "We should discuss peace" suggested the soldier she was with. His name was Commander Errick Sileras, he was from Callamar, a distant land that once held the largest empire on Earthius that controlled much of the continent of Stelai (The one Equestria and Niln are on) and Keel (The one across from them). He was tanned, with short black hair, a mustache and soul patch, and had a fit figure. He was clad in the same bronze armor as the Equin soldiers but with a sun emblazoned on his chest plate, and a horsehair crest on his helmet that was red. "Okay, We will send a message to King Rignar and travel by ship to Vailstar," said Twilight wiping her eyes. It was two days later when the Solaire, a Junk type ship modeled after those of the Pang Li Empire and the flagship of the Equin Navy arrived outside the coastal city of Vailstar. While they approached they went through an opening between two massive groups of Nilnish Trireme ships with five cannons on each side, on two of the three decks of the ship, the bottom was reserved for oars. The ships were guarding the harbor as well as the mouth of a massive river just outside Vailstar, the River Jord. Twilight felt a sense of unease as she passed through the groups for she could barely see the men on the ships watching her through their binoculars. They reached the large dock below the massive stone brick walls with cannons lining them. Men stood on the dock as the shipped slowed to a step and lowered its boarding ramp allowing Twilight to walk off with three soldiers at each side. She was followed by Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and ten more soldiers including Errick. They were met with a group of eight marksmen and eight-foot soldiers who were watching them as they passed and walked up a staircase into the city. The streets were lined with buildings, some had wooden rooves. The streets were lined with foot soldiers facing the inside of the street while civilians practically rioted around them attempting to get to Twilight and her advisors, screaming obscenities at them in Nilnish. They reached a large wooden and stone building with stain glass windows depicting the old kings of Niln at the top with two large wooden doors, and blue banners emblazoned with a wolf and crossed swords on them in gray. The Nilnish soldier stopped and the doors creaked as they were pulled open revealing a long wooden table with a fire pit with a throne at each end and chairs on all sides. the floor surrounding the tables was a dark oak while the floor inside of it was normal oak with giant spruce logs for torches at all corners of the middle area that had Nilnish flags hanging from them. Before Twilight sat in the throne she looked behind her seeing a giant elk head on the wall above the door. Her four advisors and General Errick sat in the chairs on either side of her. Rignar had a lot more people with him, he had the four High Commanders of Nilns army, one was wearing blue(Infantry), one green(Marksmen), one red(Cavalry), and one black(Artillery). He also had the Jarls of all ten holds in Niln sitting with him and the commanders of every navy branch (Artillery, Marksmen, and boarding). "I speak Nilnish if you need translation" whispered Fluttershy into Twilight's ear. After everyone settled in Rignar began to speak, saying "I see you wish to discuss peace, so let's make a deal" with this he smiled. "Okay, well we wish for you to reopen the Kai Passage to us" "Excuse me?" Asked Rignar "But I don't operate the passage, the soldiers at the passage gate will turn around anyone they believe shouldn't pass unless I say otherwise, the most I do is look at trade records," "Yes but eight of our ships were denied access over the course four weeks," said Twilight. "And your response is to attack our people," said Jarl Johan, an older man with a fit figure like most Northerners, long white hair, and a large scar that went from his forehead and across his eye. He was wearing a red and green nobles tunic, black pants, and black boots. "I didn't even order the attack, the attack was ordered by the commander of Fort Strelas near the border," said Twilight. "So it's been said, you did not order the attack on Nelcreed, and I didn't block your ship, so I think we can agree on a treaty," said Rignar looking Twilight in the eyes. But Errick was looking at something else, he was looking at the Cavalry commander, he was dawning the same armor of every Nilnish Soldier, only his cloak was red and his helmet that was placed on the table had a gold horses head emblem on his helmet that sat on the table, he had a red beard and long red hair and carried a curved sword in a scabbard. Errick saw him placing his hand on the swords curved hilt and noticed he was closest to Twilight. He thought to himself that he had to cause a distraction. So he walked over to a large torch left of the main doors and began to push it over. And with a loud crash, it fell over and the fire began to spread across the floor like a large burning snake, slithering towards the wall, and up the logs that were holding the stone walls up. "WHAT IN AKAMIR'S NAME" screamed Rignar as he shot up from his throne. He and all the Jarls, soldiers, and commanders rushed to the door and began to try and kick the locked doors open. After their force hit the door all at once the chains holding them shut snapped and the doors violently swung open sending gray smoke out of the building and into the streets, everyone inside running from inside. Twilight Followed by Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, Errick, and her soldiers all ran to the exit leading to the dock and their ship. RIgnar noticed this and ordered two of his marksmen to go up onto the wall with him. As Twilight's ship sailed off into the large blockade of Triremes. Rignar stood on top of the wall watching in the night as the ship sailed slowly off, his two soldiers had torches in their hands and they stood over two large bowls full of oil. He knew the code well, one torch to attack, two torches to hold fire. He knew the damage those ships could do, all of them could obliterate that ship to nothing but splinters of wood. "DROP THEM BOTH" Rignar ordered his soldiers As he did this, the soldiers dropped their torches and the bowls of oil lit up and were visible for miles. Rignar stood in the light of the flames and watched as his ships moved out of the way, allowing Twilight's ship to pass on unscathed. "This is the last of my mercy" muttered Rignar quietly as the ship slowly sailed off. This indeed would be his last mercy, for he would not show any more mercy towards the Equin Government and he would be even more brutal than he was before, and any king before him was towards them.
