The entire audience watched transfixed as the giant spectral Alicorn made of pure magic, shot a beam straight at the Dazzlings. Shattering both their siren projections and pendants. Once the light died down, the Dazzlings went to grab for the now destroyed pendants.
"No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no" Adagio said with panic with a look of pure terror on her face, as she tried desperately to put the pieces back together "Do you have any idea what you've just done" she yelled out, her voice wavering, almost on the verge of crying.
"Yes, we know exactly what we've just done" Sunset replied
"We made it so that you can never use your magic to enslave anyone ever again" Twilight continued as she and the others started walking down the hill.
"You've killed us, that's what you done" Adagio yelled making everyone pause and look at them "Without these pendants, we're dead"
"I-I don't want to go Adagio" Sonata sniffed, a few tears falling down her face, as she was hugging her knees. Seeing her like this, both Adagio and Aria sat down beside her and hugged the crying girl.
"What do ya mean by that" Applejack said with suspicion in her voice "y'all look just fine to me"
"Yeah" Rainbow dash said "How do we know that you're telling the truth"
"Oh you'll know" Aria said "Just keep your eyes on Sonata" Everyone did just that (the Rainbooms not convinced) until they saw it. The bottoms of Sonata's feet started to turn white and foamy, slowly creeping up her legs. This caused her to scream out in pain, and cry harder. Hearing her scream, Adagio and Aria hugged her tighter, closed their eyes, and starting humming a tune. Those that could hear it described the melody as hauntingly beautiful. When they were done, all that was left of Sonata was white foam and green energy that quickly dissipated.
"W-what just h-happened" Stammered out Twilight "Why'd she turn into foam, we thought that you would just be powerless" Hearing this caused the two remaining sirens to look at her with loathing all over their eyes.
"Now what gave you a stupid idea like that" Aria stated getting up, but fell back as her feet started to turn into foam. "Was it that Starswirl. Well... go ahead and tell us what you know, we'll fact check" She said as the foam worked its way up, making her grunt in pain.
"I read that the pendants was the source of your power and that you used it to terrorize countless ponies all across the land" Twilight said with confidence.
"Well you're half right" Adagio said as more and more of Aria started to turn to foam "The pendants are our source of power, but we didn't terrorize all across the land"
"We mainly stayed along the coastal line, using our voices in order to feed" Adagio continued "But as always, history is written by the victors."
"But your magic caused both people and ponies to fight amongst each other" Sunset said with a cross of her arms as the Rainbooms finally reached the front of the stage.
"Well then clearly the great Starswirl didn't care enough to put this in his notes" Adagio said with contempt "Crash course on Siren magic, each siren uses a different emotion to feed and power that siren. We just happen to use anger, it could just as well been joy, sadness, fear, etc. You wouldn't judge a lion for killing a gazelle for food, so why is it that we are evil for simply trying to feed. The pendants kept us alive. The way we use magic is akin to someone giving you advice. You can either follow it, or ignore it. Why is it that you think, you were able to resist" She said as she smirked and gently picked up Aria, who had only half her body left and walked off stage through the back "Come on Aria let's go spend our last few minutes away from everyone" She said as foam started to form on her. Twilight, Sunset, Pinkie Pie, and the rest scrambled onto the stage in order to try and apologize for what they had done. They searched everywhere for the sirens.
"They must have left" Sunset concluded "Everyone split up and call when you've found them. Everyone did just that. Sunset looked all around, she checked the gymnasium, the cafeteria, even the bathrooms. Just as she was about to look in the music hall, her cell phone started to ring. Looking at the caller id, she saw that it was Fluttershy calling her.
"Did you find them... what do you mean it's only Adagio... alright where are they... I'll be right there" Hanging up, Sunset ran towards where she was told that they'd be. She found Fluttershy just staring at a Adagio, who was leaning up against a tree with foam on her lap and around her. Closer inspection showed that most of her legs and some of her arms were gone.
"You know, it's kinda funny but mostly sad" Adagio gave a weak smile and chuckled "I was the first one of my species to be born, and now fate would have it that I'm the last one too. What's even funnier is that once I'm gone, emotional magic will dwindle more and more in its power, until one day it's gone. Maybe fate has decreed that magic should start to die." More and more of her became foam.
"But without magic how will Equestria survive?" Sunset asked/yelled at the dying siren
"Everyone will just have to either adapt and evolve, or die" She replied "Now there's something that I want you to tell Twilight to say when she goes home"
The Next Day
Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash were all waiting for Twilight to come back. Hearing the mirror activate they all looked and saw Twilight, looking less than satisfied
"What's wrong sugar cube," asked Applejack "didn't you defeat the sirens"
"Yes we did" She answered with a sigh before sitting down "But it came at a humongous cost"
"What could have possibly happened to make you look like this, it couldn't have been that big of a cost" Rarity said as she walked over to Twilight and placed a hoof on her shoulder.
"What happened is that we set off a chain reaction that none of us saw coming" Twilight said as she slowly got up "Magic is dying and I helped kill it"

So, this is my first fanfiction. Some constructed criticism is appreciated. Tell me what you liked, and what you didn't like.
While writing this a though popped into my head. Do you think that I should make a series about magic dying?
