EQUESTRIATALE
Sunset Shimmer groaned as she awoke, light flooding her eyes. She looked around, struggling to remember where she was. The last thing she remembered was going on a hike up Mt. Ebott with her friends, where she had tripped. The events following were a bit blurry, but she remembered Fluttershy reaching out to grab her, her fingers slipping through the yellow-and-red haired girl’s. Next was Rarity, who threw out a diamond to catch her, as Twilight Sparkle used her magic to lift the diamond back up to solid ground. Right before she reached them, the ground crumbled beneath Twilight, Rarity and Fluttershy, causing their magic to fade. Rainbow Dash used her speed to run over and grab Twilight’s hand, who grabbed Rarity’s, as Rarity grasped Sunset’s hand, and Sunset reached for Fluttershy’s wrist and gripped it tight. Applejack and Pinkie Pie had reached the human chain by now, and just in time, too, as Rainbow slipped, prompting Pinkie to grab her hand, as Applejack grasped Rainbow’s shoulders, and started lifting them up with her mighty strength. It was all for naught however, as a sort of dark energy seemed to pulling them down, and they slipped off of the solid ground, causing all seven girls to fall into the depths of the mountain below. Sunset jolted upwards with a gasp as she remembered what happened to her and her friends. She looked around frantically for her friends, until she saw their silhouettes in the distance. As a result, she started walking towards them, a smile on her face. As she got closer, Pinkie Pie saw her and waved excitedly, and shouted her name. This caused the other five to turn towards her and greet her. Upon reaching them, Applejack began talking.
“Hey Sugarcube,” she greeted, “How are you feeling?”
“Fine,” Sunset replied, “Where are we?”
“According to Twilight,” Fluttershy replied meekly, “We’re in the Underground, where the monster race was sealed away in the ancient Human-Monster War.”
“Really?” Sunset asked, “Neat! I always liked to study the Monsters, as they’re the only source of non-Equestrian Magic in this world.”
“Well, looks like today’s your lucky day!” Pinkie Pie replied, “Because I think we’re going to see them up close and personal!”
“Anyway,” Rainbow Dash stated, “We should get going, and see what’s ahead of us.”
“I agree, darling.” Rarity agreed, “I’m not too fond of this place.”
“Okay, let’s keep going.” Sunset replied, and the seven girls continued on.
In the next room, a patch of grass was illuminated by a beam of light. As the 7 girls drew closer, a small yellow flower with a smiling face appeared, and started talking.
“Howdy!” The flower exclaimed, “My name’s FLOWEY, FLOWEY the FLOWER!”
“Hmm...”, he continued, “You’re new to the UNDERGROUND aren’t ya?” All seven nod.
“Golly, you must be so confused! Someone ought to teach you how things work around here!”
“Please do,” Fluttershy whispered, “That would be really nice of you.”
“Then I guess little old me will have to do.” Flowey responded, “Ready? Here we go!”
At that, a heart shape appeared in front of each of them, each one a different color. Rarity’s was Light Blue, Applejack’s was Blue, Fluttershy’s was Green, Rainbow’s was Orange, Pinkie’s was Yellow, Twilight’s was Purple, and Sunset’s was Red. Flowey looked at the 7 hearts, before speaking again.
“See those?” He asked, “Those are your SOULs, the very culmination of your being!”
“Your SOUL starts out weak, but can grow strong if you gain a lot of LV.” At this, the group looked at him confused.
“What’s LV stand for?” He asked upon seeing the looks on their faces, “Why, LOVE, of course!”
The group’s face dawned with understanding, and they looked at him happily.
“You want some LOVE, don’t you?” he asked, “Don’t worry, I’ll share them with you!” At that, he winked and generated little, white pellets.
“Down her LOVE is spread through... little, white... ‘friendliness pellets’”, he stated, getting a few suspicious looks from all of them except Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie.
“Are you ready?” He asked, “Move around! Get as many as you can!” At this, the pellets flew out from behind him and towards the group, as Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity avoided them. As some neared Twilight, who had stopped out of fright, Sunset tackled her to the ground, and they flew over them and hit the wall. A couple were about to hit Fluttershy, but she ducked out of fright, and they flew past her, and towards Pinkie, who looked at them with joy clear on her face. Pinkie ran towards them, but as they hit her, they launched her backwards, and a little gauge above her head emptied, as the numbers beneath it went from 20/20 to 1/20.
“You idiot.” Flowey stated, his smile twisting creepily, “In this world, it’s kill or BE killed.” As he said this, Pinkie stared at him with tears in her eyes, as the rest of the group glared angrily at him.
“Why?” Pinkie asked, her voice breaking.
“Why?” He taunted, “Why would ANYONE miss an opportunity like this!?”
“Die.” He stated, as pellets surrounded them. He then started cackling madly, as the pellets closed in, causing Rarity to use her magic to make a dome of gems. The pellets started crushing against the dome, as cracks appeared in the barrier between the girls and certain death. Finally, it shattered, and the pellets surrounding them came closer. When they were just about to hit them, a flame appeared from beside Flowey, before knocking him away, as the pellets faded away into nothingness. The source of the flame soon became apparent, as a goat-like monster wearing purple robes with an unknown rune on the chest area.
“What a terrible creature, torturing such poor and innocent youth.” She stated, turning toward the seven girls, as they huddled closer together out of fear, “Ah, do not be afraid, my children. I am TORIEL, caretaker of the RUINS.”
“I pass through this place every day to see if anyone has fallen down.” Toriel explained, “You are the first humans to come here in a long time.”
“Come!” She exclaimed, “I will guide you through the catacombs.” At this, the 7 girls’ SOULs, faded back into their bodies, as Toriel turned and headed deeper into the Ruins, and the girls followed warily. The first thing they saw was a pair of staircases that led up to a balcony, with a pile of red petals laying and the bottom, as a golden point of light was in the center of a square of petals. As Sunset drew closer, she felt a strange feeling filling her, and she became determined to make it through this with her friends safely.
*The shadows of the ruins looms above, filling you with DETERMINATION.
