It was a normal day for Daring Do, get up, shower, have breakfast, get interrupted by giant hybrid lizard thing, brush your- Wait a second. That’s not supposed to be there...So...
While Daring Do was enjoying her breakfast of bread and honey and some orange juice. A sudden loud-
WOOSHHHHHH. So dramatic...
Interrupted Daring Do and her morning routine when Discord showed taking Daring Do by surprise making her eyes widen and release a small gasp but years of adventure made her keep her cool.
“So, what do you want Discord?” Daring Do asked while giving him a glare.
“Well, I just want to have a nice and friendly conversation with #1 Heroine of Equestria of course!” Discord said enthusiastically with a smirk on his face.
“#1 Heroine of Equestria, right...Just get to the point Discord.” She retorted with a slight aggressive tone.
“Well that’s no fun, I was planning to have some tea and biscuits,” he said, magically making appear two cups of tea and a plate of biscuits before promptly making them disappear, “but since you are just SO BUSY, I will get straight to the point, I wanted to spice your books up a bit, and give you the perfect adventure idea, and to start this great adventure, I’ve decided to give you the location of a ruin that no one, or at least no pony, has ever been to before, you need to go from your home, exactly 329,180 kilometers south, and you’ll find it, and trust me, you’ll know when you found it.” And with that, he just disappeared, leaving Daring Do with many questions about what this ruin was and some doubts.
Can I really trust Discord? What it’s a trap, he is reformed though, so maybe it’s just a prank? Still, 330 kilometers is a lot, and could waste an entire week if the weather was bad. But then again. It could save me months of looking for information about ancient ruins to explore, looking through libraries and talking to relatively shady ponies, that was safe, as safe as talking to shady ponies can be, but it was very boring, and I am frankly very bored, so I might adventure to this place after all.
She stopped thinking and got to preparing her expedition, she would need three weeks worth if supplies so that she would be safe from almost any accidents and obstacles. She could probably do this trip in about on week if everything went smoothly but if she got injured and the weather slowed her down, the trip could take upwards of two weeks. So she would take three weeks worth of food and water, mainly because she didn’t want to scavenge and it could be dangerous if she ever ran into some monsters like some sort of statue that would snap her neck.
And that’s called foreshadowing.
And along with some basic survival equipment: first aid kits, matches, a machete, etc. Then she would have to prepare a map, she could fly and walk her way to this ruin in a straight line. Or she could take advantage of the infrastructure present in Equestria, like roads, and railroads. Clearly completely useless. That was sarcasm, in case you need a new sarcasm detector, go to your nearest convenience store and buy a sarcasm detector 9001.
She would take the train to some small town 60 kilometers south and then take a path to a village 120 kilometers south. The remaining 150 kilometers, she would have to do herself, through forest and then desert, unfortunately for her, the desert was uncharted, she would have to use her experience to find water, and hopefully she wouldn’t need to, with the water she had packed.
In the end she took about two days to accomplish all the preparing and took with her a notepad to scribble down some information, her memory was good, but an interesting story needed details. And if she did find something interesting, she could write it down.
She made her way down to Ponyville where the train would depart. It would be a two hour trip so she settled down for the long trip, after fifteen minutes she was about to take a small nap befor-
WOOSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.That was a particularly long gush of air...
Discord appeared to make Daring Do’s adventure just so much better.
“What are you doing here, again?” Daring Do asked trying to give a glare but after almost falling asleep, it was a very evident failure.
“Well, I just thought you might need some help, so I’ve decided to tag along for a while. You know, in a nice and friendly manner.” Discord answered quite calmly.
“Yeah right...Just take the seat in front of me and shut up.” Daring Do said before adding “And don’t try anything funny, in the literal sense of the word, don’t try and pull a prank, I want to sleep.”
It worked, Discord just stayed there, doing nothing...For about fifteen minutes.
“So what are you dreaming about?” Discord asked.
“What...” Daring Do said waking up from her short nap.
“What are you dreaming about?” He repeated.
“I’m dreaming abo- Didn’t I tell you to shut up?” Daring do replied slowly coming to her senses.
“You did. In the past.” Discord stated with a neutral face.
“So why doesn’t that apply anymore?” Daring Do said after having basically completed woken up.
“Because.” He answered simply.
“Because what?” Daring Do questioned with annoyance.
“Because.” He repeated.
“Oh whatever, I give up.” Daring Do stated while trying to get into a more comfortable position.
“Yes! I’ve won!” Discord shouted, loud enough for everypony on the train to hear, and then he made some sort of trophy appear with his magic, on it was written ‘#1 Daring Do annoyer’.
Then there was silence, for a good five minutes. Before Discord ruined it, “Wanna play 3D chess?”
“3D chess exists?” Daring Do asked.
“Yes! It’s my favorite type of chess, complicated but not too complicated.” He exclaimed happily.
“Well, huh, guess it never hurts to try something new.” Daring Do said, she actually found one of Discord’s hobbies, 3D chess, who would have thought.
Discord conjured up a chess board which was basically a cube made up of smaller cubes each capable of fitting a chess piece inside.
“Do you know how to play chess?”
“Yeah.”
“Well imagine playing chess but the pieces move in three dimensions.”
Daring Do tried, but she lost 27 times and didn’t win any match. I guess having a millennia of time on your hands certainly develops some skills.
Eventually they got to the small town and disembarked the train.
“So can I tag along?” Discord asked.
“Would you still do so if I said no?” Daring Do answered.
“Probably,” He stated.
And it was settled this adventure would follow Discord and Daring Do on a not so epic adventure of not so epic proportions to explore the world and discover, or, rediscover, the world. Whilst playing 3D chess, of course. Who wouldn’t.
