“Hey! Over here I see something!” A crystal gaurd shouted. As they got closer they saw a young unicorn filly passed out in the tundra wasteland.
“What should we do with her? She’s obviously not a crystal pony.” Another gaurd said, observing her features.
She was a unicorn filly with a bright red mane with a curly feature on the end. and a charcoal fur coat.
“Take her to the orphanage I guess?” A third gaurd said. Once they got her on a gaurds back they headed over to the orphanage.
“Hey! Miss chestnut falls!” Open up!” A gaurd said as he pounded on the door.
As she opened the door she immediately looked at the young unicorn filly and smiled. They handed her the filly and left.
After a while, the young filly woke up in a bed and was confused and scared as she saw the mare looking at her.
“Shhh its okay I won’t hurt you.” Chestnut falls said hugging the young filly. “ now, what’s your name?” She asked looking into the filly’s pure black eyes.
“I...don’t....know...” the filly responded weakly.
“ hmmm well I’ll give you one!” She said. “I’ll call you star!”
“Okay..” star said sheepishly.
1 year later.
Star was 9 and she was at the age where you start really finding your hobbies and passions.
Anyway, the orphans were all playing outside.
“Hi can I play to?” Star asked a group of crystal ponies.
“Why do they keep her here? She isn’t even a crystal pony!” A filly wispered to a colt.
“I know right? She looks so weird!” The colt replied.
“ Sorry but we don’t play with freaks you idiot.” Another colt said. As they all ran off laughing star was crying and walking away to go read one of her books.
Later at the library.
While she was reading in the library she stumbled upon a very strange section of the book.
‘King Sombra a unicorn stallion with a heart as black as night. He ruled the crystal empire with an iron hoof and enslaved the crystal ponies. He was a user of dark magic.’
“King Sombra?” She asked herself.
As the day continued she spent more and more time trying to figure out who he was and how he was defeated.
She had no luck.
After a while she went back to the orphanage with the book.
The next day.
As star was walking around the yard she noticed some black smoke coming from the wasteland. And everyone else was running away and screaming: “he’s back!”
She saw countless fillies and stallions and mares running away, while the crystal gaurds threw spears at him. They missed, and he put these... helmets? On them as he started going for the crystal palace as black crystals came beneath him lifting him on the balcony.
Then she saw a gaurd with a deep blue mane and yellow coat shot out of a window. He was killed. His name.. Was flash sentry. But no pony cared because he was just a fake love interest that everybody hates.
Then after a couple of minutes 6 ponies with jewels came running into the palace. One appeared to be an Alicorn. Then there was a bright light. After a couple of seconds the stallion was blasted out the window.
in a cracking shatter of light in a firing death NEVER TO BE SEEN OR HEARD FROM AGAIN! Ya know.. FOR KIDS!
Anyway, the unicorn filly saw his horn in particular staying together and falling into the frozen wasteland. She left and went into the wasteland in search of this horn.
After an hour she gave up and went back to the empire. When she was a couple of yards away from the barrier she stepped on something and dug it up only to see the red curved horn of the stallion.
She went back to the orphanage and crawled into the bed with the horn under her pillow unnoticed.
The next morning.
Star woke up and checked under her pillow and the horn was still there. Good. After everypony was up and told to play outside star snuck outside of the empire and wrapped the horn up in a small blanket and buried it under the snow where it wouldn’t get stepped on. When she went back to the orphanage she hid in a bush because the group of bullies were looking for her.
“Come our freak!” A colt said mockingly
“Yeah!” Another colt chimed in.
After 30 minutes of searching they finally found her. “Found you!” A filly said menacingly.
Then they all started lifting her up and after an hour of walking they threw her far out of the crystal empire laughing.
‘Okay star breathe.. everything will be okay you just have to find the train station then everything will be okay.’ She thought to herself however, she couldn’t find it no matter how hard she looked.
She fell down in the snow crying. She couldn’t believe this. She knew they didn’t like her but to throw her out here to die? That was just straight up cruel. Their mocking laughter rung in her ears. It felt like it would never end.
Then she heard hoofsteps approaching her. Probably the kids to laugh and mock her some more. She closed her eyes and braced herself. Then, she felt a hoof on her shoulder. It was rough but comforting the pony hummed a tune that caused her to fall in a peaceful slumber.
For once in her life...she felt....safe...like that pony that comforted her was the only pony she could ever trust or love. She felt like she owed everything to that pony. But really...it was the other way around.
Yet that pony felt a light in the dark. None that he had felt before. He picked up the sleeping filly and walked off into the night.
