New body, new abilities

Starlight Glimmer has offered me a chance to try out unicorn magic for the first time. She brings in both Rarity and a scroll containing a spell that can separate a pony's body and soul. Rarity, whose magical skill is very limited, volunteers to switch bodies with me this way and trusts me better with unicorn magic. She also admits she's willing to fly with pegasus wings and become as dexterous with her hooves as she usually is with her telekinesis.

Starlight begins to cast the soul separation spell on both me and Rarity. As light shoots out of the scroll and engulfs both me and Rarity, our spirits emerge from our bodies and step into each other's before we stand up again in our new bodies. Rarity is now in my old body with blue eyes, while I'm in hers with my own magenta eyes. I'd like to be called Rainrity now.

Rarity stretches her new wings and places her right forehoof where her original body's horn was as if she had a phantom horn. I feel my new horn with my right forehoof as well. Though I feel phantom wings as well, something tells me my new body can replicate flight as well. Starlight proves me right by levitating herself in front of me.

And speaking of wings, Rarity starts flapping hers (which used to be mine), hovering above the floor for the first time. As she had butterfly wings before, entering my body must have jogged her memory of them. She then happily moves herself around in the air for a while, pulls out a mirror, holds it up with her forehoof, and admires her new rainbow mane.

Rarity then asks Starlight to train me to use my newly-gained unicorn magic for the first time and do many more things with it than just gem-finding and telekinesis. Complying, Starlight teleports both herself and me outdoors. Of course, she makes me start small with my magic. We find a small rock on the ground, which Starlight effortlessly levitates. For the very first time, I activate my horn with a thought, imagining a blue magic aura wrapping around the rock. That is exactly what happens afterwards. The rock then wobbles around as I will it to do so, then rolls over before I levitate it as high as my head. Walking around with the rock in my telekinetic grip, I take it over to two other same-sized rocks and make them float and spin in a circle. Starlight then brings in three wooden targets, which I then throw the three rocks at, piercing all three bullseyes. She then brings in a much larger target and asks me to destroy it with a charged magic shot. I comply, firing my very first charged-up horn laser. After the laser hits it, the target goes up in a massive explosion. I already feel right at home and 120% cooler in Rarity's old body.

Starlight then taps me on the back with her forehoof. Startled, I subconsciously teleport myself several feet away and she soon teleports in front of me, informing me that it's time to train with this newly-gained ability as well. As I start to focus my magic again, both of us repeatedly teleport around. Starlight then eventually gives me a quick light slap to see if I can react in time with my teleportation. The moment the slap hits my face, I subconsciously vanish, leave behind a pony-sized marshmallow where I was just standing, and reappear right at Starlight's left. This makes me the first unicorn to ever use a common ninja substitution technique. Then she gives me an apple and asks me to teleport it around. I stand on my hind legs, hold the apple in my right forehoof, and teleport the apple back and forth between both of my forehooves. Sweet! I feel even faster in this body, as if it was meant for me! She then lets me eat the apple as a reward for quickly getting the hang of teleportation.

I am excited to get to the flight part of my magic training afterwards, but Starlight decides I should give the form of a ball a try first. While I have done this before in my original body, I used to spread my wings while in ball form to go faster. When jumping in ball form, I also used to make my wings spin with the rest of my body to cut both enemies and objects alike. Starlight ducks, balls herself up into a fully lilac oval shape, wraps herself in her magic aura, and lets her tail stick out behind her like I used to. She then becomes spherical and starts rolling all around really fast. I then roll into a white oval, wrap myself in Rarity's magic aura, and stick my tail out. After revving up, I roll with Starlight as a ball myself. I feel like I'm already flying again! Just like Rarity did in her old body, we then start bouncing around like pinballs while moving at the same speed. Eventually, I roll faster than Starlight, jump off a ramp, and subconsciously perform a Sonic Rainboom with a shockwave colored like my old mane before landing and unfurling. Looking behind me, I see Starlight jumping off the same ramp at a slower speed, but then she casts the Accelero spell mid-jump, speeding up to match my rolling speed, complete with her own Sonic Rainboom with a shockwave colored like her magic aura, lands next to me, and unfurls as well with a happy wink.

Now she finally decides to teach me how to fly. As she starts floating, I start to levitate myself just like her. At first I lift myself off the ground slowly. But then I begin to move back and forth as well as up and down with her until the natural and ecstatic feeling of my original body's flight returns, complete with phantom wings. Combining my soul's speed with Starlight's Accelero spell that I cast on myself, I then become even faster than I was in my old body, performing my Rainblow Dry (on Bon Bon), Super Speed Strut, Fantastic Filly Flash, Buccaneer Blaze, and of course another Sonic Rainboom with ease. At the same time, she replicates all of my techniques as well (and subjects Lyra to the Rainblow Dry). Of course, I can also do a slower Super Speed Strut by running normally now.

And one more thing...I've got to get back to my weatherpony duty. With an automatic cloud-walking spell, I retain my ability to walk on clouds, which I can still push around and split apart with my hooves while levitating myself. Starlight does these as well and also moves the clouds with her magic. As Rainrity, I have the added bonus of both levitating clouds and filling them with snow and water using my magic as well as my hooves. By jumping on the snow- and water-filled clouds, I briefly make it snow and rain respectively. I then create a small tornado by flying with my self-levitation, then use my telekinesis to create a second same-sized tornado that cancels the other out. Then my horn suddenly feels cold as I subconsciously create hailstones with it. Since Rarity has power over diamonds, I figured she'd have power over ice as well for ice diamonds. After actively making it snow more with my ice magic and ice breath, I get to play with Starlight in the snow as a reward for passing my magic training.

I love being in Rarity's initial body, proving more powerful with unicorn magic than she has ever been, and her spirit seems to have adjusted to my initial body with ease. Unicorns really are the master pony race, so I'd like to spend some more time in her body. I can't wait to see more possibilities my new life as Rainrity could provide. Thanks, Starlight!
