"Spike" calls Twilight "Were is that book on magic for experts "
"Right here." Says Spike waving the book to Twilight as she yanks it out of his claws with a purple vial of magic.
Twilight trots over to her table and flips through a few pages in the book.
"Oh here's one...the fast moving spell helps you get a day’s worth of work done in just a few short minutes.....hmm well that seems easy enough"
Twilight looks at Spike and he nodes his head and closes his eyes waiting for the magic to hit him. Twilight points her horn at Spike and closes her eyes focusing everything on the spell. Twilight’s horn starts to glow and a huge purple vial forms around it then with a big flash it hits Spike. Twilight opens her eyes and Spike is moving around the Library fast as lighting re-shelving books.Twilight goes up stairs and makes a note in her spell journal making a note that is was a success. Soon the whole place was clean and Spike falls to the floor.
"Spike are you okay?" asks Twilight
“Ya just a bit tired I guess...I-I think I'm going to go take a nap" says Spike yawning.
Twilight gives him a puzzled look and walks over to the table where the book is still laying.
"Warning may cause extreme exhaustion when this spell wears off " Twilight reads out loud "Oops sorry Spike" she says to Spike who is curled up in his bed.
Just then the Library door opens and Big Macintosh walks in.
"Oh hey Big Macintosh, A.J said you were going to stop by to get the Growing The Best Apple Book". Says Twilight walking over to a shelf
"Eeyup" says Big Mac
"hmm I had it set out but I think Spike put it away. Just give me a second to find it for you, you can sit down if you like." says Twilight climbing up a ladder.
Big Macintosh looks around the library and then just stands there waiting for Twilight to find the book.
"Oh here it is" says Twilight picking it up.
Twilight starts down the ladder and misses a step and flies backward off the ladder towards the ground. Twilight screams and braces herself for the impact. But instead she felt strong hooves around her as both her and her saver falls to the floor. Twilight opens her eyes and she is laying on top of Big Mac. They stare at each other for a few minutes neither trying to move. After a few minutes Twilight comes to her senses and get off of him.
"Umm thank you, you just saved me." Says Twilight
"Eeyup" says Big Mac
Twilight stares at him for a few seconds.
"Oh right your book."says Twilight walking over to where it landed when she fell." Here you go and umm thanks again for ...ehh you know"
"Eeyup" says Big Mac
Twilight frowns she should be use to that but after what just happened she wanted to hear more from him to have a nice conversation with him. I mean he just saved her from almost getting really hurt and all he could say was yeapphh!
"Hey Big Mac I really do appreciate what you did for me I feel as though I should repay you somehow" says Twilight
"Nooo Ma'am" Say Big Mac
"Oh come on I insist maybe we can go to dinner Rarity says the Hay Barn is a good place, A little low class for her taste, but maybe we can go... not saying that your to low class to go to a nicer place." Says Twilight
Big Mac stares at her thinking about his answer and Twilight smiles and bats her eyes. Why was she acting this way she had spent allot of time around him when she helped out at Sweet Apple Aces... But now it felt like there where butterfly's in her stomach.
"Eeyup... that place it pretty darn tasty how’s about I meet ya down there tomorrow at six" says Big Mac
Twilight stands there puzzled and in shock for a few minutes but quickly shakes it off.
"Okay that sounds like a like a plan" says Twilight blushing as Big Mac heads out the door and leave without looking back.
"What was all that about" asks Spike coming down there stairs rubbing his eyes
"Oh nothing I fell off the ladder and he saved me from falling so were going to dinner tomorrow night. Its so I can repay him no big deal" says Twilight
"Umm Twi" says Spike
"Oh Spike you right what am I going to do. What if I find out that he doesn’t like me and then her won’t let me hang out with Apple Jack anymore." says Twilight
"Isn’t that a worst case scenario?" asks Spike
"No. or what if he doesn’t like me and won’t let me hang out with Apple Jack, and the rest of the group won’t want to either, and I couldn’t report anything to report to Princess Celestia, and she will make me come back and go back to magic Kindergarten, and the Elements of Harmony will be lost because where not friends anymore, which means Discord could come back, and the world as we know it will change” Twilight yells real fast.
“I don’t think she would do that Twi nor do I think that would happen”. Says Spike
"She is my teacher Spike she could do anything she wants”. Says Twilight plopping to the ground
"Twi you always think the worst will happen and it never does please just this once calm down…like you said it’s just a nice dinner to thank him right?” asks Spike raising and eyebrow
Twilight's face turns bright red.
“Twi you like him don’t you?” asks Spike
“No” Twilight answers a little to fast “were just friends…I mean come on he’s Apple Jacks brother”. Says Twilight
“Okay whatever you say.” says Spike rolling his eyes
“Oh Spike what am I going to do, what will we talk about, what will I wear…Oh Spike I can’t do this” Twilight whines covering her face with her hooves.
“TWILIGHT”! yells Spike grabbing Twilight's Snot and making her look at him in the eyes “Just this once just act like a normal pony going on a date with no fear of what’s going happen or thinking what if this date goes wrong."
Twilight jerks away fighting back tears. “Spike was right but what if – No just this once” thought Twilight
“Okay Spike Okay”. Says Twilight sniffling and getting to her feet
"Good" says Spike
The rest of the day Twilight studied while spike relaxed getting the occasional book Twilight needed.
“Come on Spike let’s get some rest”. Says Twilight yawing.
Twilight smiles at him and crawls in her own bed. A thought comes to her mind. No Twilight you Promised. Its going to work out and every thing is going to be fine. Twilight looks out the window at the moon lighting up her room and closes her eyes and falls asleep.
Okay so this is my first FIMFiction so if you find any little mistakes let me know and I will fix them as soon as I can I hope to have the next chapter and the epilogue up in the next week or so. Twilight only had an hour till she was going to meet Big Mac at the Hay Barn and she was still getting ready trying hard to keep her promise to Spike.
“Spike… Spike where is my brush” yells Twilight from the upper floor of the library
“In the bathroom were you left it...TWO MINUTES AGO” Spike yells back
“Spike I’m just worr- I just want to look my best and I have to leave soon, so I can get there on time.” Says Twilight
Spike raises an eyebrow “Remember your promise” says Spike
“Yes I remember I will act like a normal pony and not freak out.” Says Twilight frowning
Spike stares at her for a few seconds “Okay good…You have your money?” asks Spike
“Yep I think I’m just about ready to go” says Twilight
After a few more minutes of Twilight running around trying to get ready she started her walk to the Hay Barn.
“It’s going to be okay Twilight just remember your promise” Twilight says to herself
The restaurant comes into view and Big Mac is already standing there.
Oh no oh no I am late he’s going to hate me..No stop this Twilight remember your promise you have to keep it. Be cool it will all work out. Twilight thinks
“Hey I’m sorry I thought you said to meet you here at six” says Twilight trying to keep a clam voice
“Eeyup I just got here early Ma’am” says Big Mac
“Oh please Big Mac call me Twilight, Ma’am is too formal” says Twilight hoping her cheeks were not as red as they felt.
“Ok then Miss Twilight how’s about we go in” says Big Mac
Not really what I meant but it’s better than ma’am Twilight thinks
“Hi welcome to the Hay Barn table for two?” asks a Black Pegasus
“Eeyup” says Big Mac
“Okay right this way” says the Pegasus leading them to a table “here you are you a waiter will be with you soon” she says putting the menus on the table
Twilight looks at her menu occasionally looking up at Big Mac.
“Hi my name is Green Palette and I will be your waitress for the night do you know what you would like or can I start you off with some drinks” asks Green Palette
“Ladies first” says Big Mac looking at Twilight
“Umm I’ll have the flower sandwich and a side of hay fries” says Twilight
“And to Drink” asks Palette
“Oh just water will be fine” says Twilight handing Palette the menu
“And for you Sir” says Palette looking at Big Mac
“The mixed salad and hay fries and just water to drink would be nice” say Big Mac
“Okay I’ll go put that in right away” says Palette walking away
Twilight looks up at Big Mac who smiles at her.
“So how has the apple bucking been going?”Asks Twilight
“Great we’re ahead of schedule, Apple Jack’s really improved at her speed and the number of apples she knocks down” says Big Mac
They sit in silence for a little bit while Twilight tries to think of another question to ask.
“So Miss Twilight how have your studies been going?” asks Big Mac
“Oh well they have been good Spike gets mad when I try to study a whole bunch of things at once, because of all the books he had to put away” says Twilight
“Have you learned any new spells?” asks Big Mac
“Nothing Really” Says Twilight
“Okay let me see if I got this right you got the Flower Sandwich and hay fries and you got the Mixed Salad and hay fries. Is
there anything else I can get you” asks Palette
“Noppe” says Big Mac
Palette gives him an awkward smile and walks away. Twilight looks at Big Mac and they both laugh. They eat while making small talk.
“That was good” says Twilight as they walk out of the restaurant
“Eeyup thanks for inviting me” says Big Mac
“Thanks for saving me” says Twilight
“Naw it was nothing” says Big Mac
“Ya but it meant a lot” says Twilight looking at the ground
“I know… well it’s a nice night would you like to go for a walk around the lake?” asks Big Mac smiling at Twilight
“Ya that sounds really nice” says Twilight blushing
Twilight dips her hoof into the lake and Big Mac does the same.
“Wow it’s not really even that cold” says Twilight
“Eeyup still warm from the hot day” says Big Mac as they continue to walk.
“I know it was really hot I don’t know why the Pegasus’s didn’t put any clouds in the sky” says Twilight
“Oh I know but you know them Pegasus always have their reasons” say Big Mac
They sit down in the grass under a tree looking out at the calm lake.
“Do you know how to swim Miss Twilight” asks Big Mac
“Please Big Mac don’t call me Miss that sounds like something you would say to an adult. Were both friends here aren’t we?”
says Twilight staring at him
“Hmm How’s about I call you Twi if you would call me Mac” says Big Mac smiling at her
“You got your self a deal Mac” says Twilight laughing “and yes I can swim why are you asking”
Big Mac grabs Twilight and throws her over his shoulder and runs into the water. Twilight screams as the cool water hit her. Big Mac lets her go and she jumps on him causing him to go under then back up. He laughs and pushes her off diving under water and grabbing her leg and pulling her under. Big Mac lets go and Twilight swims out further causing Big Mac to freak out.
“Twi where are you” he says franticly splashing around in the water
“Over here you loser” yells Twilight Laughing
Big Mac swims over to her and they just float for a bit. They come out of the water soaking wet and laughing as the plop down on the grass. They both breathe heavily trying to catch their breath through the laughing. Twilight flips over on the grass and looks at Big Mac who is staring at her. They look at each other for a long time and then stand up.
“This has been the most fun I have had in a long time, sometimes it’s nice to take a break from work and have some fun” says Big Mac staring at Twilight
“Ya this was great, you’re great” say Twilight
Oh no did I really just say that ugh Twilight you’re so stupid think before you speak. Twilight thinks cursing her shelf
“Twi…I-I like you but…I just I-I’m sorry” says Big Mac Looking away
Twilight fights back tears as her vision states to blur.
Stupid it was going so well until you opened your big mouth Thinks Twilight
“I… Mac I like you you’re the nicest stallion I have ever meet and I like you more than a friend, but your Apple Jacks brother and I should have never opened my big mouth. Everything was-
Big Mac presses his lips against Twilights. It takes her by surprise and it takes her a second before she kisses him back. They pull away and stare at each other.
“That was a nice way to tell me to shut up” says Twilight
“Eeyup” says Big Mac leaning in and pressing his lips to Twilights again.
