Chapter 8: Wrath of the Reborn
By UltimaReborn
It was just himself, the Nightmare, Queen Chrysalis, and the changeling army left in play. All others (Discord included) had been either injured or killed. The Mane Six and the two Princesses now lay in an exhausted heap near a burning building. That which he saw filled him with rage. Ponyville: Destroyed. Countless civilians: Dead. And the changelings, they were the worst. One would be hard-pressed to miss the joy they felt when they slaughtered innocents. He leveled his heron-marked blade of fire at the two monstrosities that stood before him. As he did, entire legions of changelings burst into flame that reduced them to ash in moments. Both the Nightmare's and Chrysalis's eyes widened in surprise, tinged with the fear they had only moments ago been able to shake off. He grinned at them again. I'm going to enjoy destroying you all.
He charged the Nightmare first. That foul beast had caused the most trouble of the two. First it had possessed Luna, attempted to kill Celestia, and now it had the gall to do THIS. It wouldn't die. It would suffer for it's crimes. As his sword clashed with her now magic-encased horn he wove a dome of Air around them, preventing Chrysalis and her changelings from interfering. Horn and blade clashed many times, each igniting a cloud of sparks. Finally the Nightmare made a mistake, rearing up to try and unbalance him, but instead he ducked under and sliced her side. It was not very deep, but it hurt. Good thing I was given knowledge of how to use a sword as well. After that mistake the battle turned in Ultima's favor. The Nightmare could barely land a blow against the blade. Numerous cuts later the she stumbled. Enough that he could get a clear shot. With a single slice he severed half of her now-powerless horn. Her eyes widened in horror and pain as magical energy erupted from her ruined horn, shocking her like an electric chair. It wasn't enough as, in a God of War-esque moment, he stood over her, foot firmly against her spine, and ripped off her wings. As the Nightmare lay there, he turned his attention to the Changeling Queen, removing his dome of Air, he charged her. She recovered from her shock at seeing the brutal fight rather quickly, readying her own blade-like horn. For the second time that day, fire-wrought blade and magically charged horn met. Once again sparks flew, but it was clear that Chrysalis was less skilled than the Nightmare had been. She had always relied on her army of changelings for her strength. But now, in a battle where any changeling that tried to intervene was incinerated instantly, she was being pushed back easily. He was barely trying at this point.
He's going to kill me. Thought the Changeling Queen. He's going to kill me and I can't stop him.
“P-please don't kill me!” shrieked Chrysalis. The sight of the proud Queen of the Changelings begging for her life gave him pause for a moment. Enough that she decided to try to impale him upon her horn. A truly foolish mistake. He spun to his left, and in the same motion cut her blade-like horn down to a nub. At this point it may be of interest to note that a changeling Queen's horn acts as a buffer against the minds of her subjects. I.E. without a horn, a changeling Queen can't block the thoughts of all of her subjects. Hence why within moments, Chrysalis was a babbling wreck on the ground. Crying and screaming and talking to herself.
“Now it's your turn Discord.” he said as he turned to face said Draconequus. Discord had managed to stop the bleeding of the wound on his chest. But even his power couldn't heal it.
“I don't think that would be wise.” said the Spirit of Chaos as he lifted a purple lump in his right hand. Twilight. Thought Ultima.
“Put her down Discord. This fight is between us.” said Ultima, barely containing his now even greater rage.
“Of course.” Said Discord with a sadistic smirk. He then hurled Twilight into a burning building. Before Ultima could act, Discord snapped his fingers and the ruins exploded. Only a crater and some bits of wood were left. He heard the others cry out, they having had watched as Discord had murdered their friend.
“Discord...” said Ultima. “I'm going to burn you. I'm going to burn you with fire so hot that it will remove you from time itself.” said Ultima. His voice so cold it literally hurt to listen to. As he walked toward the Draconequus, who was now frozen in fear, the world itself seem to fear the anger that burned in the human shaped being. But he was no longer human. Now he was Ultima, Last of the Reborn. Third, and last, to be created. The earth cracked beneath his feet, the fires in the shells of what once were homes and businesses flared brighter, or the flames froze as they were. The air itself stopped moving, being unnaturally still.
With a swift movement the flame-born sword was driven through Discord's neck, pinning him to a still solid wooden corner of a home. Ultima raised his hand and a wrist-thick bar of white, liquid light erupted from his palm. Discord's colors inverted and then he was gone. A ripple moved out from the point where the former Spirit of Chaos had been, everything it passed was fixed. The once-dead ponies stood where they had been slain, looking disoriented. All wounds were gone, and there by her now healed friends, was one purple unicorn. Ultima smiled. Not a fear-inspiring grin but an actual smile. The last thing he saw before his face decided to become better acquainted with the ground, were the Mane Six and the Princesses, all crying and hugging each other.
That was too adorable. Heart failure added to list of injuries. Brain shutting down due to overdose of cute. …................
