Crawl Away to the Cries of the Carrots

You were in a deep slumber, at least you thought you were as you felt like you were being raised into the sky and betwixt the air itself. The feeling was strange, the instinct telling you that you were being watched by many eyes, so many eyes. You dared to look, to see the possible horror or beauty that might confront you in your vision but alas, you kept your eyes shut.

You felt your feet land upon dirt as your body's weight shifted to a standing position, the shift in gravity made your stomach turn. Your eyes flash open to see vast farmland, rows of vegetation that seemed to go on for eternity. A slow crescendo of screams began to rise from the ground, assaulting your ears as they threaten to make them bleed. You look up to see a pure white angel with large wings and a long spiral horn, it's holy glow washing over you in a warm and comforting feeling like a baby cuddled up in its mother's arms.

You spoke to the holy angel in a calm manner "Angel of the Lord, What are these tortured screams?"

And the angel said unto me with a sweet, motherly voice "These... These are the cries of the carrots... The cries of the carrots. You see little one, tomorrow is Harvest Day but to them... It is the... Holocaust..."

The screams and cries grew even louder and higher in pitch, the earth shakes violently as the ground cracks with large flames emerging from within them. A piece of soil caves beneath you causing you to fall into the depths of hell.

...

You jump up with a gasp, sweat pouring body as you looked around. You were in a quiet forest, everything seemed colorful. The memory of the dream still fresh into your head. You try to stand up on your two legs but your center of gravity seems to fail you causing you to fall to the ground. You got a good look at your legs, they were white digitigrade legs of a rabbit.

You get up and walk along a path, the forest getting thinner as you tread along the path. You come across a nice looking cottage that was embedded in the ground with small woodland creatures running around, You hopped up onto a barrel, catching quite a bit of attention from the other creatures. They gathered you in a circle as you feel the urge to preach to your new woodland brothers.

"Hear me now, I have seen the light! The glorious and magnificent light!" They all tilt their heads at you as larger animals crowded around

"They have a consciousness, they have a life. The trees think for themselves and the sky have emotions." Some of them began to catch on and nod as others are still unsure

"They have a soul! Damn you! Damn you if you think not!" Now most of them are with you, clapping their paws and making all kinds of noise

"Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers from this torment that is brought upon the ponies!" They cheer louder for you as you raise your front paws up

"Can I get an amen? Can I get a hallelujah? Thank you, Celestia!" You feel your body grow slack as you fall back onto the ground, everything turning black...

...

...

Your eyes flutter open from the bright sunlight of the afternoon, you look up at the clouds floating across the sky slowly. That made blue your color. You look down at yourself to see yourself in your ditch. Your fur is covered in a thick goo and you see a shine of your knife blade in the grass. You stand up and to notice your hooves are sticky so you wipe them on your grass, your color was now green.

Oh Celestia, why did everything have to keep changing like this?

You were already nervous as your head pounded like a pair of war drums and rang like a siren. Your head was almost empty with vacant thoughts. Your head always hurt when you wake up like this... You climbed out of your ditch onto your gravel road and began to trot, waiting for your mind to come back to dispell the pain. You see the wagon parked far down the road and you walked toward it...

"If Celestia is our Mother," You thought "Then Discord must be our cousin and if Discord is our cousin... Then Tirek must be our grandfather..."

Why didn't anyone else get these important things?

You got to your wagon and checked all the wheels, one of them was broken. It was red and it was brand new. There was an expensive toolbox in the back, you climb into the back and see that all the tools were still inside luckily... You stand up and look around, you see your woods, your ditch, your knife, your grass, your sky...

You could feel your mind coming back as many questions ran through your head, why is everything yours and how do you know it's yours? These questions numbed the pain and muffled the ringing which brought you relief. Your eyes catch movement along the treeline of your forest, you can see two small ponies walking by your woods. They moved in sync as they seemingly talked to each other

The pain and ringing was now fully gone as you shake it to get the more important questions in your head first, questions always seemed to calm your mind and give you a reason to be. Your attention turns back to the small ponies, they're talking brings a small smile to your face as you lay down in the bed of your wagon. You realize those small ponies are yours too...

...

Your eyes flash open as you're blinded by a flash of lightning. You're still on your red wagon but your wagoon was drifting in deep water. The questions and images in your mind no longer comfort you as feel rain patter against your fur. The rain take what is mine, hold what is mine. It may suffocate me and what is mine and bury us underneath. They're is no high ground this time. You're stuck on your red wagon, stuck in the middle of your new ocean.

Maybe the ground is not the rock you thought it to be.
