When your done with your full time job, you put on yellow jacket, because it’s raining hard outside. You always go through this situation since you spend your life by the forest where rain always occurs. You wouldn't be able to afford a car of your own so you decided to take a hike to your cabin.
But when you take your daily hike, it’s the only time you get exercise for yourself while also enjoying looking at the trees in the forest. While butterflies and animals don’t appear a lot when it’s raining, it makes you relief that wildfire won’t happen anytime soon. It took you twenty minutes until you get to the trial that leads to the cabins. You always stay in privacy to stay safe from any trouble that happens. It’s makes you calm and relaxed.
“Another day, another peaceful life.” You said to yourself. The trail you took is much farther because of how big the forest is. Your neighbors normally spend their time alone, since they also want peace and quiet. The private location you live at is what natural needs for animals to hibernate in the woods.
When you look at your surroundings, all of your neighbors are inside of their cottages due to the rain. However just when you’re getting close to your cabin, you saw an animal in the distance. You never saw an animal like this in your whole life after you witness all the creatures in the forest you live in.
“What’s that over there?”
When you took out your binoculars, you saw a pony who’s stuck under a fallen tree. You also saw how sad she is, covered in mud with no one to help her in the predicament she’s in. You put your binoculars away as you rush into the woods to save her. The more you get closer to the pony, the more you hear how she’s crying in pain and loneliness, almost like she’s been like this for days.
You manage to see the problem she’s dealing with. Both of her legs are stuck under a tree that’s too heavy for her to get out from under it. For being the most respectful person you are, you lifted up the tree from the pony and pushed it out of the way. The pony stopped crying after she’s free, she looked at you in shocked that any person would ever save her.
When you saw her slowly being happy, there’s no other way she would go on her own. When you looked at her legs again, she has a prosthetic leg on. It gave you the thought of what happened to her life, something unbelievable or awful. You picked up the three leg pony as you begin to carry her.
“Do you want to stay at my place?” You offered.
“Really?” The pony asked.
“Yes.”
As you make your way to your cabin, the pony had never felt so happy to sleep in a place that’s safe and secure.
Once you get inside you cabin, the first thing you do for the pony is to give her a bath since she’s wet and muddy. After another twenty minutes have passed you washed every single part of her body to make sure she’s clean, You take her out of your bathroom and bring her to one of your couches in your living room. You cover her up with one of your blankets to keep her warm. You went to your refrigerator to try to give her something to eat, but at the same time your hungry after the day you had. You pour yourself some cereal with milk and as for the pony you saved, you peel up a banana and put in a bowl. Once you return to your living room, you give her the banana while you place your supper on one of your trays.
“It’s really nice of you to take me into your home.” The pony smiled.
“It’s something I do during my job.” You replied. “What’s your name anyway?”
After the pony took a bite of her banana, she says her name. “I’m Kerfuffle.”
“Kerfuffle? That’s a weird name.”
“How is it a weird name?”
“No other person would name their animal like that.”
Kerfuffle tilted her head in confusion when she heard you. “What do you mean?”
“As in the animal is the person’s pet.” Then this made Kerfuffle depressed again. Her tears begin to return which took you notice. “What’s wrong?”
Kerfuffle took a deep breath to explain the struggle she’s dealing with right now. “When I was part of a pet store, sales were getting lower with each passing week. It’s mainly due to the fact that our company is going bankrupt.”
You wouldn't believe how serious the situation Kerfuffle was dealing with during her time on her own. With years of spending your time as an animal caretaker, you come across a pony who nevered been sold to anyone. It makes you wonder how long she was in this predicament.
“What happened to your leg?” You pointed at her prosthetic leg.
“When the owner drove his car, I was in a pony bag in the back. The enquirement he had wasn’t stable enough to keep me in place. When the ropes came loose, I was flying in the sky and I crash-landed with my leg injured.”
You dropped your spoon in complete shocked. You never heard a story of any animal going through a loss in their lives.
“The doctors had no choice but to cut my leg off, so that’s why I’m using this prosthetic leg…” Kerfuffle looked at her legs again. Before the injury, she was so happy to be brought from a customer who loves ponies. However she lost one part of her body which could cost one of her hopes of having her dreams coming true.
“Seems really rough to be in a pet store right?” You asked.
Kerfuffle nodded since it’s really the truth that hurts.
“Also, I saw you in the middle of the forest? How come you're not with your owner right now?”
“Remember how I lost my leg? It happened again a few days ago, except this time he didn’t find me. I was so lost in the woods, he couldn’t find a way to help me in the situation he’s in.”
You became speechless with everything you heard from Kerfuffle’s past. About her leg being cut off, being stranded in the forest and being crushed from a tree on her. It was lucky for her when you came at the right time to save her, otherwise she would easily gotten worse being alone.
“Do you think I should call the person who owns you?” You asked.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea. Not meaning to disrespect him, but he’s going out of business. Considering he has only four animals left, he can’t handle the stress he’s dealing with. Not getting the right equipment to keep me safe, unable to find better solutions and worst of all...I will get back to the same state I was before.”
Kerfuffle sniffled that she will never have the life she wanted. As for you, you did have second thoughts, but after hearing everything from Kerfuffle, you need to make the right choice to make her feel better.
“Then how about you become my pet?” You asked which made her looked into your eyes again.
“Really?”
“Yes. I’ve spent my whole life taking care of animals and even come across new ones. And I’ve learned something about ponies days ago. They’re helpful in their own way while also being so nice to sleep with. To me, you feel really harmless. Just because you lost your leg doesn't mean things will get worse for you. You're still the same in your own way.”
After you express your feelings towards Kerfuffle, her hopes have finally coming true. She smiled in joy that she will never go out in the wilderness ever again.
“Oh thank you so much!” She cheered.
“I promise I will take good care of you.” After that, you and Kerfuffle continue to eat the food during the meantime.
When you we’re done eating your cereal, Kerfuffle was also done with the banana you gave her. You washed the dishes and by this time, it’s about to be nighttime. You take out a spare pillow for Kerfuffle to sleep on. You give it to her, which she accepts it as she covers herself with her blanket. You never felt so happy to make her feel safer after all the experience you learn about taking care of animals.
You went into your bedroom and put on your pajamas as your ready to go to sleep. In about an hour of you resting on your mattress, Kerfuffle, in the living room couldn’t sleep whatsoever even if she likes staying with you. She gets off of her couch and made her way to your bedroom. You heard your door opening wide which was Kerfuffle.
“Kerfuffle?” You asked. “Why aren’t you sleeping?”
“Because I don’t like sleeping alone.” She replied. “Is it okay that I sleep with you?”
You do remember that you said that ponies like Kerfuffle are nice to sleep with. While it’s kind of late to accept her offer, you still didn’t want to hurt her after you saved her.
“Sure.” You replied which made the pony flow in the air thanks to her wings. She tucks herself in by you as she’s more safer than before. During the next minute or so, you begin to feel something about Kerfuffle. The life she dealt with was one of the worst things any animal had ever been through. The loss of her leg made you scared if it could happen again whenever any bad luck happens between her. Not to mention she had a sad life when she was on her own, there is nothing she can take care of herself in her contention.
You begin to wrap your arms around her body which surprised her. It was the first time she had anyone do this to her and she found it sweet. You rub on her pink mane after it was washed thanks to you, it made her look like a brand new pony after all this time.
As for Kerfuffle, she adores the treatment your giving her. She begins to lay her head on your chest which made you happy.
“I’ll be the best pet you will ever had.” She replied as she yawned.
“I know you will, because your my pal.” You spoke as you and Kerfuffle get into slumber. With Kerfuffle in your persuasion, you will do anything in your effort to not only keep her safe, but also happy.
