Mr. Smartypants

Part one, The Rainbow

Once upon a time, in a little new house, under a big old oak tree, lived an extraordinary pony, named Mr.Smartypants. As extraordinary as everypony is in Equestria, this one was just as extraordinary as the one after, and no more than the one before. He was a fine young colt, with a grey coat, and handsome black locks, and a very peculiar pair of blue and white polka-dottied trousers. He lived alone in his cottage, but that was fine and dandy, because he had his good friend Dusty (A field mouse) to help him and keep him company around his home.

Now, I'm sure by this age, you would understand that living with a Field Mouse in your House is not quite so normal, but, again, there is no 'Normal' pony (as nopony ever is). As a matter of fact, many might fuss and pout if there was a Field Mouse in their house, and might just yell "Get out, I say! Out!". But not Smartypants. He was a wise pony, who knew many other ponies, and treated this field mouse just like any other guest, and offered him Cheese and Wine for dinner, and the Field mouse would take his fill and save the rest for Luncheon in the afternoon of the next day. Guests were rare to him, because he had moved a long way from home, into his new house.

However, one day, Mr. Smartypants was feeling sad, even with Dusty consoling him, and he just couldn't figure out what was so wrong. "I just don't know what went wrong!" Mr.Smartypants exclaimed to Dusty. "I've got a beautiful home, and I'm very wise, but I still don't know why I feel so sad!"

Now, Just because Dusty was a mouse and could not speak, does not mean he cannot tell Mr. Smartypants, and other ponies for that matter, what he was thinking. So Dusty rose from his spot, and tugged on Mr.Smartypants' shoulder. So Mr.Smartypants put Dusty on his shoulder, and Dusty gestured towards the door. "What good would the outdoors do for me?" Smartypants asked Dusty, but Dusty simply replied with a shrug and a cock of his tiny head. So Smartypants decided to go outside anyways, as silly as an idea that it was.

Not twenty paces outside of his home when a beautiful rainbow appeared over his head. "My goodness!" said Smartypants, "Would you look at that! Oh My!!" Suddenly, that rainbow came at Smartypants with the full force of a charging bull, and crashed right into him knocking him right on his back!

"Whoops! I'm sorry, I should really be more careful!" Said the rainbow.

"Oh, that's alright, I'm sure it was an accident," Smartypants replied.

"Yeah, I was working hard on these new tricks!" Said the rainbow.

"Well they looked positively splendid!" Smarty pants said. "I Don't think I caught your name, by the way. My name is Mr. Smartypants."

"Very well, My name is Firefly!" Said the pony, as she was shaking off all of the rainbow around her. "It's a pleasure to meet you!"

"I agree! It's nice to meet you as well!" Mr.Smartypants returned. "I have a question, Firefly."

"What's your question?" asked the mare "Is it about sports and speed?"

"No, it's not about sports or speed, but I'm a lonely stallion in a time of need." He replied

"Oh, I'm sorry. I don't know how else I can help you. But I can come along if you'll have my company." she replied.

"Why gladly, Ms. Firefly! I'm sure we could solve my problem if we walk, and talk, and put our heads together!"

Mr.Smartypants smiled. This was the first friend he had made in a long time, and he was quite happy about that. And so they walked along, and sang silly songs, and trotted about, without a care and not a thing wrong. And so the three of them, Firefly, Smartypants and Dusty, all strode into town on a merry tune.
