The snow crunched under her pale pink hooves. She was on the outskirts of the Crystal Empire, inside of a forest like environment. She hopped onto a nearby log and turned around. “Hurry up guys, we’re almost there!” Flurry shouted. A crystal colt and filly caught up, both of them panting heavily. The filly was a yellow earth pony with a red mane. Her cutie mark was a swan. Her name was Summer Swan. The colt was a blue pegasus with an orange mane. His cutie mark was a butterfly. His name was Breezy Winter. “If you weren’t so fast we could keep up!” Breezy Winter exclaimed. Flurry stuck her tongue out at him. “What are we even looking for?” Summer Swan asked, still catching her breath. “I found a cool place nearby. It looks super dark and old but I’ve never been inside.” Flurry said as she turned around and jumped off of the log, running off again. Her friends let out groans and ran after her. Flurry dodged branches and rocks, being careful not to trip and fall. She stopped running when she found a small house. “This is it!” Flurry exclaimed, pointing to the house. The house was wooden with two floors. The windows were cracked and broken. The door was torn off of its hinges, showing that the inside was pitch black. Summer Swan took a step back. “Are you sure this place is safe?” She asked uneasily. Flurry Heart shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know, I’ve never been inside.” Flurry stated. “Is this a good idea?” Breezy Winter asked, ready to run all the way back home. The house had a very strange aura to it. It was as if the house was ready to eat them up as soon as they stepped inside. “W-we should go back.” Breezy Winter said as he took a few steps back. Flurry Heart scoffed and rolled her eyes. “I’ll show you that this is perfectly safe.” Flurry stated. She walked towards the house, making her friends stare in anticipation. She walked through the dark entrance, the old wooden floor creaking under her. The floor strained to hold up her weight. “See it’s perfectly safe.” Flurry said, hopping a bit. With that one hop, the floor collapsed under her. Flurry let out a scream as she fell. Pieces of wood fell down with her, scrapping and bruising her body. A sharp piece of metal cut her wing, making it bleed. She landed on the ground with a loud thud. Flurry gasped for air, her heart racing in her chest. Pieces of wood fell next to her, making the cavern she was in echo. “Let’s get out of here, I don’t wanna get charged for murdering a princess!” Breezy Winter exclaimed. Flurry Heart listened to the hoofsteps of her friends running away. Flurry slowly stood up, her legs shaking. Her whole body aches from the fall. She opened her wings to fly out, only for one of them to go limp. She looked at her wing to see that there was a large cut on the side that was bleeding lightly. She wouldn’t be able to fly for another few weeks. Flurry let her horn glow a bit to see where she was. It seemed like she was in a cave. “Hello?” Flurry called out, hoping for anyone to answer. Her magic wasn’t strong enough to for her to teleport herself outside. She slowly moved her body, looking for an exit. She walked with a limp, her body bruised and scratched. “Is this a path?” Flurry Heart asked as she looked at the ground. There was a path made out of black crystals leading deeper into the cavern. If she followed it, she might be able to find a way out. Flurry sped up a bit, desperately wanting to leave. Her slow hoofsteps echoed across the cavern and water dripped from the ceiling. She regretted coming here. At this point, Flurry just wanted to go home. There was a dim light at the end of the hallway, making Flurry smile. “That must be a way out!” Flurry exclaimed. She approached the end of the tunnel to see an office. It was very cluttered with books scattered all over the floor. There was a black desk pressed up against the wall with a pony skull, a single lit candle, an open book, and a strange looking red thing. Someone must have been there recently if the candle was still lit. Flurry walked over to the desk and picked up the red thing. It was curved and the bottom was a faded black. “Is this a horn?” Flurry asked herself. It felt like a horn but it didn’t look like one she had ever seen. She stroked her hoof along the sides before placing it down. She had gotten a little of her blood on it. She looked at the book and read the page it was opened to. It seemed to be a journal. ”I finally did it. I managed to fuse my soul into my horn. I know that I’m getting close to being defeated but there is still hope. When someone finds my horn, they need to put something of there’s on it like blood, sweat, or tears. Something that can make me one with them. Soon, our bodies will be one.” The rest of the page was unreadable. It seemed like someone spilled ink all over the page. “‘Our bodies will be one?’ what does that mean?” Flurry asked to herself. She looked back at the horn that was now glowing a bit. A sharp pain pounded at Flurry’s head, making her scream. She fell to the ground and clutched onto her head, tearing up. Her whole body went numb and the horn on the desk lit up the room. It felt as if her head were going to explode. ”MAKE IT STOP!” Flurry exclaimed, tears dripping down her cheeks. In an instant, the pain stopped. She panted in heavily, trying to catch her breath. She shakily stood up, rubbing her head. “What was that?” Flurry asked. She looked around to see that a window was above the desk. ”Climb through the window.” A deep voice said. Flurry Heart jumped back in surprise and looked around. She was still alone in the room. “Am I hearing things?” Flurry asked herself. She let out a nervous laugh and hopped onto the desk. She opened the window and slipped her forelegs through it. Her wing fluttered a bit as she pushed the rest of her body through the window. She landed in the snow and quickly stood up. She looked around to see that she was in the front of the house again. “I’m never doing that again.” Flurry said to herself. She turned around and walked the same path she had before. The sun was setting and she would be in the dark forest very soon. ”Stop walking.” The deep voice returned, making Flurry jump in fear. Before she could say anything, she spotted a bear trap on the ground. “T-thank you scary voice.” Flurry stuttered out as she walked around the bear trap. A chill ran up her spine. Could the voice talk to her at any moment? Could the voice hear her thoughts? ”Yes I can hear your thoughts.” The deep voice stated. Flurry’s eyes widened in fear. “So you’re real and I’m my head?” Flurry asked. ”Yes.” The voice said. Flurry broke out into a grin. “Is this going to be like the comic Venom? You take over my body and we fight bad guys together!” Flurry exclaimed happily. ”I don’t know what any of those words mean but no, we’re not going to fight bad guys together.” The voice stated in a deadpanned tone. Flurry cocked eyebrow. “So what are you going to do?” Flurry asked, getting closer to home. ”First, you won’t tell anyone that you can hear me. Second, we’ll be the most powerful ponies in all of Equestria!” The voice cackled. Flurry slowly nodded her head. “What’s your name anyway?” Flurry asked. The voice paused as if he were thinking. “Just call me Sombra.”
