My name is Tomas, i live in Denmark. A small cozy country. In my cozy little town named Holstebro. Time didn’t seem to move, and if it did it was slowly. Here nothing happens. No murder, rarely crimes. over and all a nice city to live in. well until that one day were I lost my mind of course. How did I lose my mind? Well let me tell you.
It was 12 of July 2012,I was on the way on my way to look after my brothers children. Freja was 12 and his younger brother lars was only 4 years only. Both were true angels and well raised.
I arrived at my brother’s house, I gave a shout out to my brother letting him know I had arrived, and of course Freja and Lars too. In the speed of light, both of them raced down towards me and tackled me down, who would have thought 2 small children could tackle me a full grown man down, I thought to myself while in vain trying to escape their relentless tickling attack.
Come on now you two let your uncle get up before someone gets hurt. My brother said. It was first then I saw my brothers face, a bright smile and red cheeks like a fresh apple and sky blue eyes looking right to a man’s very soul.
Hello Sten, good to see you again, I said, trying to catch my breath, so were you going out tonight?
Oh nothing fancy full, just going out on a date with Isabelle.
Lucky bastard all ways gets the good ones, I thought to myself again. And you want me to look after the kids right?
Of course that’s what’s little brothers are for right? He said with his perfect smile, god sometimes I just want to knock them out. Let it be known that I didn’t really like my brother but I adored his children, they had luckily taken their mom personality. My brother and his wife got divorced 5 month ago, for reasons I don’t know.
Yea well why don’t you run along to your date, we don’t want you to get late wont we, and this time try to contain your Willie would you? I mocked playfully. My brother shook his head and left us. I looked down towards the kids and smiled. So? What should we do now? In union they spoke.
LETS WACTH T.V! in fact they weren’t allowed to watch television at all, but they knew that their dads rules was overruled when I entered the house. I so enjoyed destroying my brother’s ideals and creations.
Freja and Lars ran towards the Television while I took care of diner for them. I could hear the television from the kitchen, and I heard some sort of theme, it sounded something like this. My little pony, my little pony aaaah aah aah, my little pony I use to wonder what friendship could be.
What a catchy little song I said to myself, before I took my attention back to the diner. For some making food is no challenge and just something you could, but for me it was rocket science at the highest grade. And hour later i was done, and the kitchen still intact more or less. I think I broke the oven, but I,m not sure.
Okay you two dinners ready! They rushed towards the table were they saw my desperate act of trying to create a healthy meal. You know uncle Tomas you really can’t cook, Freja said to me in a playful tone, Lars just giggled at her sister. Well pumpkin is not that I can’t cook, I just cook creative meals that’s all. I said while giggling at them both. The matter of the fact is I never cook at home, i usually just ask some of my friends to do it for me. Of course i paid them to do it.
Say uncle what do you do to earn money? This it was Lars to speak, he looked at me, trying to look gentleman, a gentleman with food all over his face. I sat for a minute thinking how I should explain to them that i made my living by working on the police department of lost items. God know I hated my job, but it paid the bills and gave me food on the table.
Well Lars, I recover lost items for people, and caretaker for them until their owner come to take them back. Lars looked at me with a strange look, just like he looked at an alien.
Freja explained my work for him and an revelation hit him. But before he could ask any other question, I told them to clean up the table and help me with the dishes.
They complained and tried to avoid doing the dishes, and with the biggest puppy eyes they spoke again in union, please uncle Tomas can’t we watch television.
I looked with a serious face and spoke clear and slow.
Listen to me real good now you two, just because i let you watch television, doesn’t change the fact that you need to do the dishes, now I think that’s a fair deal since I made the meal for you, that you help me with the dishes okay?
With a defeated look they, they went to work.
About 20 minutes later we were done, okay you two lets watch television.
Before i even blinked, they were sitting on the couch watching My little pony, I walked towards and took my place between them. I had saw almost every episode back home, and this was the episode were Fluttershy was babysitting the Cutie mark crusaders.
We just tuned in time to hear Fluttershy´s lullaby. Hush quit now its to go to bed hush quite now its time to lay your sleepy head. We watched television for 1 hour and then i send both them to bed.
Goodnight you two sweet dreams. And again they felt asleep in union. And just then i was alone in the darkness in a spiral of taught. They are both so perfect, like two little angels, like the kids I never had, and never would have, instead they belong to my no hope brother.
So perfect but they aren’t mine, so perfect but they aren’t mine. Suddenly I heard a voice, a familiar voice. It was Fluttershy´s voice that popped in.
They are so perfect but they are not yours, so sad, so sad, I wonder if your brother even sing them a lullaby before he says goodnight. I responded aloud, he doesn’t, he doesn´t care about them.
Again the Fluttershy in my mind began to speak. Why don’t you sing them a lullaby? She said in her kind and sweet voice.
They are asleep I responded, not seeming to care about the voice in my head.
Does it really matter? She said giggling, come now sing them a lullaby, and then let them go to wonderland.
I walked in, discreetly and without a sound. Then I began to sing, and funny enough the only song I could think of was this.
Hush quit now its time go to bed, I grabbed a pillow and slowly laid it upon Freja´s face and sang agien.
Hush quit now its time to lay your sleepy head and hold the pillow, she didn’t wake up, and now she never will she’s in her own little wonderland forever happy.
Then I turned to her younger brother and did the same while sining.
Hush quite now its time to go to bed hush quite now it’s time to lay your sleepy head.
He didn’t wake up either and just like his sister he went to wonderland.
I walked out with a smile on my face, and Fluttershy spoke again.
Good boy, what nice little lullaby you sang. She said still with her kind and sweetest voice.
No more then 4 minutes later my brother came home.
Hey Tomas I,m home everything all right here ?
Of course, Sten I said in a sweet and caring voice. I just sent them both to wonderland I sais giggling. My brother looked at me uneasy. Oookay then ill see you then later kay?
Bye Sten, I walked out and went to my car, but before I could open the door, I heard my brother scream. A wonderful scream of despair, fright, and confusion.
Oh how I loved destroying my brothers ideals and creations.
