Applejack swiped the sweat from her brow, wiggling a little in the cool grass of the orchards as she laid on her back. "I thought you stopped eating things she gave you after the scale thing she did last year?"

AJ contemplated telling him off for his language again, before shrugging it off. He'd already had a crappy day, and she'd heard Mac yelling worse that time he'd stepped on a rusty nail fixing the barn.

Snickering, she started to nod before catching herself.

"Whew!" AJ shouted, having finally just finished with her check. She took her hat off gently, easing it to the ground, before she roughly shook herself like Winona. Sweat sprayed the area, several fat droplets even splashing the drake currently serving as a reptilian headband.

It didn't take them long to reach what turned out to be a nicely sized pond in the middle of a dense strand of trees. Spike thrashed around for a moment, before he resurfaced and took a deep breath, panting and wide-eyed. "By Luna, Applejack, that's bucking cold!"
Spinning in the water, he saw her hat hung carefully from the tree she'd stopped by when they'd reached the pond. Swirling in the water, he twirled and looked carefully for the earth pony.
After a quarter of a minute, he spun around as he heard hoofbeats behind him. She wasn't there, though.
"Apple-?" he started to ask, when a shadow flew over him. Looking over his shoulder, he had enough time to think, oh horseapples, before AJ hit the direct center of the pond.
Spike sighed as there was a swell in the water he was floating in, not bothering to struggle as he was sucked into the vortex before the churning forces of AJ's fantastic cannon-ball flung him back into the air.
He flew for about ten seconds, not bothering to open his wings, before he began to fall. Another nine seconds, and his second ker-plunk echoed across the face of the pond.
A moment later Applejack breached the water, blew her nostrils loudly, then crossed her eyes to look at the dragon on her snout.
"Geeze Spike, you could've warned a girl about how cold it was."
