Shining "New" Armor
Chapter 1: Adjustments and Discoveries

“Welcome back home son.” Night Light...Dad...said as he unlocked the front door, allowing me to follow in behind him as Mom kept behind me to support me with her magic if I stumbled as I walked in my new, yet old, bipedal state. Now, compared to a regular pony, I’ve had to make a few alterations to my life. For one example, all ponies have a way to hide their gender parts. Me, however, true to my altered anthro form, my boy bits couldn’t be hidden like regular parts. So, shortly after leaving the hospital, we had to visit a boutique owned by Fancy Pants and get several pairs of capri pants fitted to my new form. Shoes and other articles of clothing would come later.
I looked around the house and I could see that my parents have wealth, but they didn’t flaunt it around. The neighborhood we lived in had a large number of giant mansions, while our house covered our basic needs and nothing more, nothing less.
“Dad, what do you do for work again?” I asked, not remembering what he did for work.
“Oh, I work as a Bio-Magical Scientist.” Dad said with a bit of a smile.
“Okay.” I acknowledged. “So what plants or animals are you working on researching or experimenting with?” I then asked, while taking a seat in the living room.
“Well, we’re doing some careful testing and experimenting on a blue plant that came from the Everfree, just south of Canterlot.” Dad said, pulling a picture of the plant from somewhere. I immediately recognize the plant as Poison Joke.
“Why do you need to be careful?” I asked.
“Well, the plant has some...admittedly hilarious reactions to various ponies.” Dad said with a slight chuckle. “One of my associates wasn’t in a magic-protection suit and was touching some and he ended up with an oversized schnoz. Took us forever to figure out how to reverse the effect.” He added, his eyes tearing up from trying to hold back his laughter.
“With an effect like that, the plant should be called Poison Joke.” I suggested.
“Poison Joke?” Dad asked before thinking. “You know, I like that. It just rolls off the tongue. I’ll bring it up to my associates and higher ups.” He then went to the kitchen and some pots clanging was heard.
“Well, dinner will probably take a little while. So re-explore the house and see your room.” Mom said as she followed Dad’s movement and went to the kitchen. So, I followed Mom’s instructions and began to explore. The house itself was on the small side of things. One floor, two bathrooms, 3 bedrooms (one as the master bedroom) and a storage cellar. Despite the low number of rooms, the floor space was fairly big (my bedroom alone felt twice the size of the hospital room I was in).
After my exploring, I entered the kitchen and looked at my parents as they cooked what looked like a type of stir fry, with hay replacing meat. Comparing my four year old, humanoid form to my parents, I’m just barely taller than Dad’s shoulders...withers? Anyway, I knew that my new form would result in me being taller than the average pony. Add my need for clothing and potentially bigger appetite to that, my life would become interesting fast.
I turned towards a door that led to the backyard. A quick asking of permission, and they allowed me outside. The first thing I noticed was the giant, circular scorch mark in the center of the yard, with a barely damaged book sitting next to the damage on the lawn. Picking up the book, I saw that the book was a book on basic magic written in children’s storybook format. Peering through my memories as best I could, it turns out that I was attempting to try a teleportation spell after seeing one of Mom and Dad’s friends teleport in and out of the house when something was going on.
From there, I found this book hoping to find something, but the book had only a brief mention of teleportation, probably as an example of how far a magic caster could get. The thought of trying to replicate what I saw my parents’ friends did then came to my mind and I had died in the attempt of replicating the spell...at least temporarily.
I looked over the book and then looked to a window looking into the kitchen. Mom was looking out into the backyard, as if worried I would try to teleport again. Smiling, I opened the book to the teleportation mention, showed the page to her, all while shaking my head. I then turned to a page that seemed to be instructions on telekinesis, showed it to her and nodded.
The page detailed how the telekinesis spell worked. It was a simple process of envisioning an invisible hand, claw, or aura pickin up or surrounding the targeted object(s) and things should work. I placed the book down on the ground and took a step back. My imagination was able to envision the hand easily and the book raised off of the ground and I floated it to my real hands. Turning to the window, I saw both Mom and Dad looking out the window in both awe and pride.
In an instant, the both of them teleported outside and glomped me in a big hug, babbling about my first successful spell. We then went inside and enjoyed the hay stir fry. Time went by and the food was gone and the sun had been lowered by Celestia. I then went to bed, which I realised is going to go through a lot, as I’ll probably going to be growing bigger than the average pony when I start growing up. Just before I fell into the sweet embrace of sleep, a thought came to my mind.
‘I think I’m addicted to hay food.’
